Have DS, 13 months. Stopped bf in Oct and immediately got pg but was chemical preg which I lost at 5 weeks. Now got BFP today, very excited. Quite faint line but definitely a line.

Anyone want to join?

sorry x-posted

Warthog, DS is nine and a half! I had v bad pnd after him for a long long time. I loved him as a baby (oops, still do of course) and he didn't have me in floods or unable to cope but it was pretty vile for his dad. Like you I am apprehensive that the same thing will happen again. I'm older now so psychologically tougher (I hope) but physically probably in lousier shape. Worried about the birth itself, worried about age gap, half sibling, etc etc etc ad infinitum.

www.hyperemesis.org.uk/

this is a good site even if you just have bad morning sickness. I did not know that diarhhoea (yuk) is normal and part of morning sickness and it is helpful as I feel I am hardly able to drink at the moment and am constantly starving but unable to eat.

TwilightSurfer · 02/01/2008 23:49

Captain, I live on the outskirts of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Honestly it's the best place in the states to live because it's close to everything yet still small townish.

Today started out not great and really didn't change much. The MS queasiness was constant all morning so I bought some B6. After taking it the queasiness disappeared but then a massive wave a tireness knocked me over. I'm just plain dragging now. My tummy area is sore again like I'm growing. I thought it was my stretching last night but now I'm convinced it's just baby making thus the overwhelming tireness. I was able to get my errands run but haven't been able to do my daily pick-up around the house. Guess I can't have my cake and eat it too right now.

bealcain · 03/01/2008 07:45

chacha - it's not too bad i suppose. got really bad ms and so have to find a way of amusing them both when i'm sick, takes me ages to manage to be sick though as have to sort them out lol. DS2 is an awful sleeper, he had me up every 45mins in the night, it's the tiredness i'm finding hard rather than anything else and getting no sympathy from DF. all in all though i'm not really noticing much of a difference and things might have changed anyway! how is your 2yo with LO? mine keeps trying to body slam as that's how him and df 'bond'. i alwayd try and get thme to sleep at the same time so i can get my head down, not sure if it helps or not though. am dreading next summer aswell as i reckon ds1 will be ready to PT and i'll have to do it with a new baby in tow.....fun! sorry that was way too long!

PB - i'm that you had something to excercise your brain, it's my one craving!

VG - i didn't find out with ds1 till iwas 18weeks, so didn't see the doc till then. but it wasn't intentional, i still had to wait 2eeks for an appt. to see a MW though!
As a present for having ds2 DF bought me gym membership, i lost 3 and a hlaf stone and now it's all gone back on, all that hard work for nothing! really annoyed actually!

have to say on the coke/caffeine front i reckon compared to you lot i'm a real addict, yesterda yi had 3 cups of tea and 2 cans of coke, is that really that bad? i always thoght five lots of mild caffeine was fine.... on the peanut front, you only have to worry about avoiding them (in any shape or form) if you have a family history of a nut allergy.

TS - sending you hugs. hope you have a better day today. i keep getting growing pains (apparently) they just feel like period cramps to me......

Jenny - do you have hyperemesis? i had it with ds2 was not pleasant, in fact was the worst part of my life to date, it lasted till 25weeks and then apparently all the vomiting and heaving made my stomach contract and i kept going into prem. labour at 31, 32, 34, 36,38, 39, 41 and finally 42 weeks. really was not fun, i wouldn't wish it upon anyone.

Foghorn - are you feeling better? at your gp, they get paid somuch money for what they do, if that's all it involved i do it for a quarter of the money!

sorry if i've missed anyone been dashing to the bathroom to be sick every few minutes!

PoinsettiaBouquets · 03/01/2008 08:28

Schoolma'am time :
If you're not eating properly, please get some dehydration drink sachets people! They are strangely easy to drink apart from anything LOL.
Also, decaff instant coffee and teabags really don't taste any different LOL.

Shazza2002 · 03/01/2008 10:00

Morning ladies.

Haven't posted for a while as haven't had much to say but have been reading the threads.

Sorry for those of you with MS. I only feel sick nothing actually happens so counting my blessings.

Well I just have very huge and sore boobs. When I take my bra off it feels like two bricks are gonna fall on my feet

Need a bit of advice, TMI alert. Went to the loo last night and when I wiped there was a pinkish bit on tissue. Was hardly anything. Not had anything since (although not visiting the loo as frequently as too scared) I am convincing myself it's fine as no pain and it would be the time my period would be due. So just crossing my fingers it's all ok.

Hope everybody is wrapped up against the cold.

PoinsettiaBouquets · 03/01/2008 10:10

I had pinky brown discharge over Christmas, couldn't really do anything with all the bank hols etc but it seems to have gone away.

Shazza2002 · 03/01/2008 10:36

Thanks PB There really was hardly anything there, but us PG ladies worry about the smallest things don't we.

Glad your's has stopped too

poppysocks · 03/01/2008 10:49

Interesting to hear that others are thinking about the VBAC thing. I've been trying not to as there's so far to go yet, but it is on my mind. DD was c-section after 23 hours of labour, following induction, as only then did they realise she was breech . I was so out of it by that stage that I didn't care and was just pleased that she it was going to be over and she was fine, but DH is still really traumatised by it all and still has to talk it all through everytime he's had one too many.

I really like the idea of VBAC and 'doing it properly' after failing (so it feels) last time, but we were lucky that we both ended up ok and I am a small build, my Mum had a terrible time with me and C-sections thereafter so I'm inclined towards c-section as the more controlled environment really appeals. Is that terrible? Who knows whether the hospital will agree to do it though...

Just a quick question for those who've had a c-section... Is your scar hurting more now? I'm guessing that it should given the stretching on it, but I'm really finding that when I sneeze it's feeling pretty tender and I'm instinctively going to hold it (like that's going to help..). Is this ok?

On the books side of things I got Lesley Regan's book last time and found it brilliant.

ChaCha · 03/01/2008 11:10

Morning girls,

Poppysocks - I planned a VBAC with DS2 after having had a failed induction with DS1 (resulting in emergency c-section 23 hours later!) - like yourself was just glad to finally get it over with. \edwDH was also quite traumatised TBH, he fought with m/w, consultant, surgeon everyone - was a bit of a nightmare. I just kept puffing on my gas and air feeling like i was watching it all from a great distance. Anyway, VBAC was in mind and then I was in hospital at 35 weeks with really bad SPD, returned home on crutches feeling awful, had no confirmation as to who was going to be around when i went into labour and was in terrible pain - t'was then that i decided i needed to be in control and in no more pain - had a very successful elective section, all went very smooth, DS was placed directly on my chest, we bonded straight away - aftercare fab and home in 3 days - perfect! Will be doing it again.
As for scar - it hurt more with DS2 but then its early days yet - okay so far.
(sorry if i rambled there)

bealcain - Sometimes DSs play wonderfully together and other times i think DS2 feels that DS1 is in his space and gets pushed around a bit too much - DS2 is walking confidently now and is sure to get his own back!

DC are waiting to go out so will go. Shazza - good to see you again.

Talk later x

PennyBenjamin · 03/01/2008 11:16

Morning all,

Shazza - seems I'm a bit like you as far as MS goes - terrible nausea, but no actual vomitting. Hope you feel better (and me!)

Got a bit of a concern this morning - a colleague I work closely with was off yesterday, and is now back in, but her symptoms seem to indicate this news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7169347.stm

Obviously I haven't told anyone at work I'm pregnant yet, but is there anything I can do to protect myself, and if I did get it, is it very dangerous for the baby?

dizzydixies · 03/01/2008 12:00

Hi all
am sorry to barge on so late in the day but I have been tentaviley reading the thread.
Have been to GP and just waiting on date for appt at hosp for first scan - have no idea of dd because am having a COMPLETE blank over first day of last period. I'm not particularly regular and I always write it down - needless to say when I've needed to I haven't done so!

I'm guessing am due somewhere at beginning of august, I always measure bigger though as have big babies!

dd1 was 10lb4 after induction and assisted high forcep delivery
dd2 was 11lb1 after 29hour labour and eventual emcs
must be mad!

browncat · 03/01/2008 12:08

Hi dizzy- congrats and welcome!

PB- my sisters had this over christmas so I was paranoid too as it is really nasty. Just do not come in to any physical contact with your colleague if you can help it. If you do, wash your hands with anti bacterial soap (do this regulary anyway). I managed to escape it (so far anyway). Hth!

Am off to eat more ginger biscuits - I'll be the size of a house sooner rather than later

dizzydixies · 03/01/2008 12:13

thanks browncat - I see your ginger biscuits and raise you some lucozade and a mars bar!

MollieMooma · 03/01/2008 12:16

Hi, had my scan this morning, well it wasn't exactly good news but not bad news yet either. The nurse was quite positive, kept asking if I'd got my dates right, which I know i have last AF was 03.11.07 nothing since, she seemed to think I was only 5 wks and not 8 wks, could see something but obviously very very small and no heartbeat (which is usual until 6 wks i believe) She could see no reason for bleeding, everything was where it should be and attached. But the GP I saw after was a lot more negative, he said that as I had bled more than once (although I kept telling him it was only spotting) that it was probably bad news and that I had probably or was in the middle of m/c. Having another scan next week, no more bleeding since Monday night, no pain, still have sore boobs and nausea, really confused, can I be 3 wks out? I am definate about my last AF, also wouldn't my symptoms have gone by now? I didn't think to ask as I had got quite upset with the GP especially when he started talking about what procedures they would do after a m/c! Any advice gratefully received

dizzydixies · 03/01/2008 12:24

oh molliemooma am sorry it wasn't more positive news from them but as you say it wasn't all bad either.

I miscarried with my first pregnancy and I didn't have any soreness in my boobs or nausea so when fell pregnant with dd1 and had symptons they just kept telling me that this was a good sign and that things were working. You have both of these AND spotting is normal, I know its hard but please PLEASE stay positive - as you say everything is where it should be AND attached. try to focus on those positive things and not give in to the worry

sending you positive, sticky thoughts

dizzy

PoinsettiaBouquets · 03/01/2008 12:29

PJ - I had the norovirus over Christmas, was truly awful (esp combined with m/s as I couldn't eat enough) but the only risk is dehydration really. As Browncat says, all you can try to avoid it is be obsessive with the antibac soap and give all your door handles, loo flushes, taps a good clean!

MM - how frightening for you. Have a look at this but fingers crossed it won't apply to you.

PennyBenjamin · 03/01/2008 12:30

Hi Mollie, Sorry to hear your news, and am keeping my fingers crossed for you. x

Buckets · 03/01/2008 13:01

FYI PoinsettiaBouquets has gone back to plain old Buckets now her Christmas tree has been packed away

Jennylee · 03/01/2008 14:31

I think I just have really bad nausea and the other thing I mentioned but I have been shivering and stuff and got a bit dehydrated last night so am trying to eat while its not as bad today. Did not remember being pregnant could be so difficult.

poppysocks · 03/01/2008 14:56

So sorry the Drs couldn't fully reassure you Mollie. Fingers crossed for you.

I hadn't heard anything about this bug until I saw your link, Penny, and just then something came onto the radio. Sounds horrible.

Having not heard anything from the hospital I've just rung them to check they got the GP's letter. The first date they can give me is in February! They were apologetic and said they've got a backlog from being closed over Christmas, so fair enough. Not even my fear of twins helped. She just suggested I speak to my GP and ask her to refer me to the EPU, and she's seeing if it's possible. I think that's Dr speak for 'no - but I'd rather tell your answer phone later'.

I know it sounds awful being this impatient, but I think finding out so early hasn't helped. I feel a lot more than 7 and a half weeks pregnant!

libbyssister · 03/01/2008 15:00

I've got a GP appointment for today. Think I'm about 7 weeks and wonder if it's a bit early... but figure I should get the ball rolling. I'm also keen to get an earlier scan this time. With DS1 my 20 week scan was the one and only and it would be nice to have a bit more reassurance this time.

Sorry to hear that lots of you are feeling rough, it must be miserable.

PennyBenjamin · 03/01/2008 15:24

Thanks for everyone's advice - am madly washing hands every 5 minutes! Have to go home on the tube - remember reading a horrible article a while back about how many bugs hang around on the hand holds..... Eurgh!

bealcain · 03/01/2008 15:29

mollie i was 9weeks out with my dates! you may just ovukate at a different time of the month to the 'norm'. i have a 44 days cycle and ovulate twice in between, most (in the lossest sense) ovulate 2weeks after the first day of LMP, but many dont, can be as little as1 - 27 days if you have a 28day cycle. it;s all guess work which is why so many babies aren't born on their due date. it could've just been implantation spotting, i think the dr was a bit of an arse for saying that to you with no 'real' evidence. they usually dont say the MC word until they've personally checked your pads and all that malarky, i wouldn't take what he's said as red and be confident in the fact that you're still getting very obvious signs of pregnancy.

good luck
