Not very original, but the thread WAS becoming ridiculously big.

Lauren - Definitely phone and get yourself some more appts booked!

FWIW I too have unquenchable thirst and breathlessness. Water does nothing for my thirst, even if I guzzle a whole bottleful, but juice seems to help quench it - absolutely no idea why!

I think the breathlessness is normal - at first it's something to do with hormones making you generally breathe more deeply than usual (I think so that when your lungs get crushed by baby then they are already prepared and are more efficient) so they don't like it when you breathe more shallowly when exerting yourself so you end up getting a bit breathless cos you can't satisfy your lungs increased needs, and then later on it is because of the growing baby squashing your lungs. That's what one of my pregnancy books says anyway.

I find that even mild exertion - walking upstairs or walking quickly - makes me react as if I've run a marathon. My DH was so worried he commented on my breathlessness and thought it was because I was unfit (which admittedly I am!) but I was able to bamboozle him into thinking it wasn't because of lack of exercise at all but all the baby's fault!

merryberry · 28/11/2007 13:42

CL yes I'm in the facebook group. I use Merry Berry as my name there.

Current craving: coleslaw. Has to be as crunchy as broken glass. Lovely stuff.

tori32 · 28/11/2007 13:58

CL Yes I definately think you need to get an appt. My MW put stars by the weeks I needed to be seen. I am low risk but have so far had a booking in appt (home visit), an appt after the 12wk scan and another home visit after the 20wk scan (at my request because having 3 toddlers at appts is not good for discussions!) I am very lucky as I am seeing the same team as last time who are all very flexible and know them all by name
I have to go and see the consultant about the actual birth on 11th Dec due to the complications last time, so hopefully it will all be ok for my VBAC.

Today was swimming day and we have all thoroughly enjoyed it but all very tired. Girls are fast asleep. Hurray!

Derah very jealous of your holiday as I haven't had any time off since May, so can't wait for Xmas

Prisci · 28/11/2007 14:30

Does anyone know which insurance company can cover someone after 27 weeks. I remember there was some info ages ago about it but I just can't remember when it was exactly and I am too lazy to search?

Overwise, not much of interest, DP is finally coming back to London for a month before we moove away again. I can't wait, it has been difficult to be alone in the past 6 months.

I was reading, might be completely unfounded, but does anyone have more cravings for salted things if they are expecting boys or for sweet things if they are expecting girls?

MumOfBillyTheKid · 28/11/2007 15:00

Hi all

CL - Agree with everyone, get yourself seen (but don't panic) appts down here with MW for 1st baby are 8, 12, 22, 28, 31 (GP), 34, 38 (GP) 40 and if needed 41 wks. I guess even though they can't offer any birthing classes at the mo, at least we get seen!

Good news on the scan/consutlant appointment front - all seems to be fine (huge sigh of relief!) - LO was laying with hands up by face and legs crossed at the feet - how nice and relaxed! Legs have grown (well, everything has) so they aren't worried any more. They're still on the shorter than bang on average size, but so am I!

Spooky thing from scan notes is that LO's weight has almost doubled from 21 to 24 week scan! Frightening thought!

Right - better go re-fuel..... craving for quiche lately Thanks all for your words of support - they helped me stay calm this morning.

HolidaysQueen · 28/11/2007 15:06

MOBTK - that is great news! Hope you can now relax, like your baby is clearly doing

Prisci - I hadn't heard the salt thing but I normally have a very sweet tooth (alwasy have dessert and chocolate, never add salt to anything) but this pregnancy I have been adding salt to my food, craving soy sauce and even preferring salt popcorn to Butterkist! And, yes, I'm having a boy

I've just lot out on a breast pump on eBay yet again - I seem to be in the lead until the last minute and then all these people swoop with much higher bids than mine... Still trying to win the natal hypnotherapy CDs that merryberry recommended as well. There is a pricey secondhand market in both those items it seems! Sigh.

imjin100 · 28/11/2007 15:09

MOBTK- great news - you must be very relieved, and nice to know all is progressing properly - happy days! You've made me excited about my next scan - not for two weeks but will be lovely to see the little one and hope it's relaxed as yours clearly was!

just been out to lunch with some work colleagues...usually i'm obsessed by timings but appeared to stay out much longer than usual finishing with the meal with hot chocolate - delicious - the joys of being pregnant!

surprisedandexcitedmum · 28/11/2007 15:11

I haven't seen a midwife since booking in, but I did see my lovely GP at 16 and 24 weeks - he was shocked I hadn't had a midwife appointment. Mine is at 28 weeks 13th December (28 weeks) for a glucose screening, then I think I may see someone, GP or Mid-wife, every couple of weeks.

I must say it has felt odd to be going through something so big without care, but I suppose millions of us do it all the time...

preggersagain · 28/11/2007 15:17

i seem to get very good attention in my area but then its twins so they have to be more careful, but according to my maternity services booklet a standard low risk pg in my area will be seen at 12, 16, 24, 28, 32, 34, 36, 37, 38, 39 and 40 weeks by a mw. at 20 and 41 weeks by a consultant, with scans at 12 and 20 weeks with a follow up offered in some cases at 30 weeks.

seems like ceredigion health board have got something right

merryberry · 28/11/2007 15:56

i love saying ceredigion.
bloody beautiful word.

preggersagain · 28/11/2007 15:58

pmsl!!!!! you're mad!!!!

PurlyQueen · 28/11/2007 16:12

What - you can get prescriptions for Pregnacare??? Must remember to ask at my next appointment .

I'm desperately trying to keep up with my pelvic floor exercises after reading the thread when someone compared her undercarriage to a gaping hole .
My yoga teacher advised us to do 10 lots of ten every day and to pick a prompt that you can remember - such as doing a set whenever you see the colour red or have a glass of water.

I've ordered some H-cup (gulp) bras from the M&S website and I'm just about to buy a new sports bra from eBay as my boobs have had a new growth spurt recently.

derah · 28/11/2007 16:19

MOBTK - phew, what a relief!

Prisci - are you talking about travel insurance? I got mine through the post office and it covers up to 32 weeks, I think.

As for the sweet/salty thing - I'm usually a sweet girl but have been craving salty this pg. So I was sure I was having a boy, but the sonographer reckons another girl. I won't be completely surprised if LO does turn out to be a boy though!

Tori - this is the first time off I've had since April, and that was the first holiday in over a year, so I think we deserve this! It's gonna be great, Christmas in nice warm weather, with the family, but with our own cottage to live in so we don't have to be on best behaviour in someone else's house!! Not looking forward to 12 hr flight with tantrumy 2yo though!!!

PurlyQueen · 28/11/2007 16:24

Walking upstairs has me puffing and panting like mad but I'm fine during an exercise class.

I've noticed that the hair on my legs is growing like mad - I'm sure I can see it sprouting . Does this mean I'm having a boy due to the extra testosterone in my system?

doup76 · 28/11/2007 17:05

If I walk up the stairs too quickly I feel like I am going to pass out!!!!

I think I missed something about meeting up in London. Is this open to anyone in this group? I would love to meet some of you .....

PurlyQueen · 28/11/2007 17:12

I can't wait to meet you all at last. I'll head for the table with all the pregnant ladies .

doup76 the meet-up is open to all

MerlinsBeard · 28/11/2007 17:12

just to blow the salt = boy thing

With ds1 my craving was chocolate, with ds2 it was pot noodles with extra soy sauce in and S&V crisps and with this one (another boy) its angel delight

e14mum · 28/11/2007 17:35

doup, add your name here - all the details are there! Didn't know you were in London too

Ahh... all the old wives tales- I'm so looking forward to seeing which ones were right! So far I have: no leg hair (girl), out front bump (boy), savoury cravings (boy) and LO heartbeat above 140 (148 yesterday) (girl). Who knows!?!

BTW, I am having such a first-trimester day- horrible metallic taste in mouth, and even ended up barfing in the toilets at lunch! Anyone else had this?

merryberry · 28/11/2007 18:16

ceredigion, ceredigion, ceredigion!

turtle23 · 28/11/2007 19:13

Prisci- my insurance was done thru M&S and covers 28-32 weeks with a dr's note.
HQ- I am after those too...fancy getting them 2nd hand, copying them and splitting the cost?

Hi everyone, glad to see you're all doing well. good news on your scan MoBtK, that's a relief.

I haven't been around here at all really since coming back from New York. I guess things are quite busy and I'm spending a little less time online at the moment. Well at home anyway and I don't really like to sit on Mumsnet at work. Not sure why, it's not like I don't do any Interweb procrastination. I think just a habit I got into before anyone at work knew and I didn't want them to see.

I got my first bottle of gaviscon this week (on prescription). While I was away my digestive system went a bit haywire and I got nasty acid indigestion and constipation. Thankfully things have improved a lot since I got home and got back into my usual eating routine. I haven't had any Gaviscon yet, but it's good to know it's there for whenever (and I'm assuming it's when, not if) the acid comes back.

OK time for dinner. Chat to you all soon.

PS imjin - I'm loving being pregnant right now too. it's so fun now with the kicks (except occasionally when they are a bit weird feeling).

derah · 28/11/2007 21:40

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!! How do F%&#ing Amazon do any business?! I've just tried to do all my Christmas shopping through them (easier to order it all from one place) only to be told at the checkout that ONLY ONE of my items would arrive in time for Christmas! There are still 3 WEEKS! Why, why, why, in god's name WHY do they think this is OK? So now I have to hunt ALL my presents down elsewhere.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGH!!!

HolidaysQueen · 28/11/2007 21:48

Turtle - if I ever get them then I'm more than happy to share. Just lost out on another set. And another breast pump. Aaaargh!!!

glammama · 28/11/2007 22:12

Derah, same thing happened to me at Amazon, extremely irritating.
HQ, don't put in a bid at all until the last 15 seconds. Usually works for me....
