Not very original, but the thread WAS becoming ridiculously big.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

hello all- still drugged- have mw appt tomorrow to check the girls. pain is actually getting worse NOT better as expected, maybe i'm becoming immune to the codeine .

MOBTK- good luck for the scan and i haven't got a clue about ante-natal classes- we've never been offered them or tbh felt that we needed them! we do live out in the sticks on the welsh mountains though, so if we did attend an ante-natal class it would probably consist of three farmers wives, 14 sheep and a couple of goats !! best thing is to speak to your midwife about what is normal in your area.

imjin, e14 - I don't really enjoy exercise at the best of times so am having to fit it in by stealth. I hate having to do exercise on my own so my DH and I are trying to do more active things together at weekends / in the evenings so that I get exercise without it really feeling like it. So we've done a lot of walking in the past few months - simple things like walking to the shops rather than driving or getting the bus, blackberry picking along the canal (ok - not blackberry season anymore, but you get the idea!) and proper hikes every so often as well including when staying in the country with friends etc. I'm also trying to use stairs on the tube rather than escalators. And then when the weather has been rubbish we've been swimming together - doing lengths separately followed by a laze around in the shallow end having a giggle, and the treat of a nice dinner afterwards. It's really helped get me more active. Maybe you could rope your DPs in to do things like that with you so you get the pleasure of their company and hanging out time with them, but you also get your hearts pumping too.

Oh, and cheese - mmmm!!! I am generally obsessed at the moment, with a particular desperation to eat roquefort for some reason!!!!

Brazilianmum · 27/11/2007 15:24

HQ - great news about your friend. Hope everything goes well from now on.

MOBTK - I booked into a private class in Greenwich. My hospital doesn't offer much so decided to spend my hard earned money on classes I saw advertised. I'm a 1st timer and to be honest haven't got a clue so DP and I are looking forward to be told what to do by an ex-midwife. They say classes are also nice to meet other PG couples. I didn't go the NCT route as was told the classes in my area are not very good.

New food obsession is brioche rolls. Scoffed four yeaterday and 3 so far today.

glammama · 27/11/2007 15:30

Not been around for a while, seem to be too busy to go on mumsnet. Gosh I need to sort out my priorities!!
Derah, I feel your pain. I remember last time with DD and the MMR debacle. I won't go into it all now but suffice to say I was up there with Rosemary West for injecting my poor little mite. Fundamentalists are fundamentalists whether they eat mung beans or McDonalds, imho.
Coats I spent £40 on a 2nd hand M&S maternity coat off ebay. Don't regret a penny.
Slings I had a baby bjorn last time and will do again. I would say my breasts are quite largish but I'm aware I'm in the company of some awsome mammaries here so relatively speaking....... Baby Bjorn was fab, never worried baby would fall out. I've seen a couple of babies fall out of others (probably incorrectly tied but still.... )
Preggersagain You poor thing. Did you manage to wrangle a pink cast? Hope you feel better soon.
Tori Take your completed Christmas shopping elsewhere, girl!

Everyone else, hope you're all well.

preggersagain · 27/11/2007 15:34

glam- i hadn't thought of that- it is fibreglass though, will be having it changed for one i can get wet tomorrow so i'll ask about colour choice

PurlyQueen · 27/11/2007 16:24

I've just come back from a pregnancy yoga class, so I'm feeling super chilled right now.

I think I'll follow glammama's lead and look for a coat on eBay. Don't talk to me about awesome mammaries! I've outgrown the ones that I bought in October so it's back to Bravissimo for me!

timmyinatizzy · 27/11/2007 19:24

preggers - 14 sheep and a goat. rofl!

tori32 · 27/11/2007 21:40

We had a sling but I didn't use it DH did all the time though!
HQ really glad to know your friend has been 'released' for now Looks like you are off the hook with the toddler sitting LOL
Have a good evening.
I am still in the middle of potty training so like her weeing my time on mumsnet is hit and miss !!

derah · 28/11/2007 08:56

Yawn!! It's Monday for me (I work Wed-Fri) and I'm sooooooooooo sleepy! Oh well, only 3 weeks and then we're off to S.Africa for 2 weeks' lovely holiday, yay!

MumOfBillyTheKid · 28/11/2007 09:30

Thanks Preggers and BrazillianMum for your advice - i'll look out when at the hospital today for any courses advertised. My MW did seem surprised I hadn't got on the hospital course.
Being by the sea, we'll hopefully not have any sheep and goats here (maybe some fish?! - mind you, with all i'm eating, i could be confused with a whale!) Fingers crossed for it all to be ok at my appointment at lunchtime with consultant!

Very jealous derah of holiday (and the fact you only work 3 days!) - you lucky thing!!

HolidaysQueen · 28/11/2007 10:04

Good luck today MOBTK!

ClaphamLauren · 28/11/2007 10:09

Just realised that the meet up is next week - does anyone else feel like the time is flying by at the moment??

Good luck at the hosp MOTBK!

MerlinsBeard · 28/11/2007 10:16

the big meet up?its saturday isn't it? 1st december? or is ths a march o8 meet?

e14mum · 28/11/2007 10:23

MOM- the march 08 meet in London is on the 6th... John Lewis cafe on Oxford St, 6:30.

Eeek- that IS next week!

Hope everyone's ok today. I have just been to Barts for more bloods after my mw appt yesterday. I saw the same midwife as last time! (V. excited about this as it's the first time it's happened.) LO woke up and gave her a kick when we were listening to its heartbeat (attitude already!?)

ClaphamLauren · 28/11/2007 10:32

e14 - what was your midwife appointment for if you don't mind me asking? Am I the only person who hasn't seen a midwife since booking in?

I won't be seeing her again until 19th Dec!! Useless hospital. Not surprised it was ranked as poor in that report of London hospitals!

I'm a bit scared at meeting you lot, are any of you on the Facebook Mumsnet group?

MerlinsBeard · 28/11/2007 10:35

aah right, you see London is a bit far (and expensive!) to get to for a cuppa

i have a mw appt this week too CL but they are keeping a close eye on me coz of placenta issues. How many weeks are you now? you should have seen one after your scan surely?

preggersagain · 28/11/2007 10:35

you haven't seen a mw since booking i see mw every two weeks and then consultant roughly once every six weeks, but i suppose they class me as higher risk pg, but still , is no-one checking your blood pressure, urine samples etc? surely getting to the end of the second trimester you should be seeing someone!!

3madboys · 28/11/2007 10:42

erm clapham i cant belive you havent seen your midwife since booking

i have now seen mine three times (i am 27wks) however the second app at 16wks i had to kick up a hell of a stink to get, they were 'busy' and i am low risk etc so they said they didnt need to see me till after 20wks, (my booking app was at ten wks) so that would have been over ten weeks without being seen, which i was NOT happy with.

then last week i went to see my gp as i have had itchy hands and feet, prob just my eczma but it has to be monitered as it could be a complication to do with my liver. anway the GP was furious that i had only seen my midwife twice, so made me an app which i have no had and insisted that from now on i am seen every 4 weeks.

my gp said she didnt care if i was low risk or not, that each pregnancy is individual and you can never be sure how things will go so i should be seen more regularly. i was quite shocked tbh, although i was a bit miffed at not been seen i wasnt going to complain iyswim? but my gp did and has sorted out app for me

i think you should be seen clapham, even if its just so you can hear the heartbeat etc and be reassured

imjin100 · 28/11/2007 10:42

ClaphamL - I'm also in london but seeing a MW - i'm 26 weeks (or am I 25 I can't remember) and I've seen her twice - bloods first time and then just urine and blood pressure. I've also seem a doctor once as I'm on shared care. If I were you I would ring your hospital or doctor or midwife if you have one just to check it out. Maybe they wrote to you and letter lost in the postal strike? Have you been given your notes yet? All of that said dont' panic!!!

e14mum · 28/11/2007 11:04

They see me every 4 weeks until 32, then every 2-3 weeks I've been told. Hmm... you should defo be seeing someone, the appts aren't a big deal, they test your urine, take bp, listen to hb and ask how you are doing. You can ask for presciptions for lovely things like Gaviscon, Canasten, Pregnacare, etc... and I've been referred to a physio for some advice with the hips (not vv. bad, but I take what I get offered!).
Maybe just call your gp and book yourself in for an appt?
Back to work e14!

HolidaysQueen · 28/11/2007 11:07

Lauren - I saw a mw at my scan at 11 weeks and then saw absolutely nobody until my scan at 22 weeks last week when I saw mw again. But she told me that I will now be seeing somebody at 24, 28, 32, 34, 36 (when I'll also have another scan on placenta), 38 and 40 weeks so it's suddenly gone into appointment overdrive!!! I get to choose whether I see dr, community mw or hospital mw, and can change it for each appt if I want. I don't think you are unusual in having seen nobody for ages, but you should definitely be seeing a mw or dr quite regularly from now onwards.

spugs · 28/11/2007 11:28

i had booking at 8 wks, scan at 14 wks (dont see mw at these though), mw at 16 wks (only just started doing this but dont actually doany checks), scan 2o wks, mw 22 wks, will nxt see mw at 28 wks, then itll be 32, 36,38,40 wks. im lw risk by the way

ClaphamLauren · 28/11/2007 11:52

I'm 26 weeks tomorrow and not had bloods, blood pressure or urine since booking in. Will put a call in I think as I haven't been feeling that great recently, unquenchable (sp?) thirst, headaches and breathlessness and not being able to take medicine etc is starting to bug me.

I have seen a consultant but was regarding my pelvis and coccyx and was discussion as opposed to anything midwifey.

derah · 28/11/2007 12:29

My goodness, the Due in August 2008 thread has started!! Our LO's will be 6mo when these new ones arrive!!

timmyinatizzy · 28/11/2007 12:54
