cheese toastie - without question.

glammama · 22/11/2007 17:20

Btw, e14mum I have (hopefully) 2 spare tickets for 4pm Santa show as I booked 4 but only need 2.

ClaphamLauren · 22/11/2007 17:20

Oh and definitely cheese toastie, yum yum.

imjin100 · 22/11/2007 17:20

a few people we haven't heard from recently I think - we ought to have a check on how the list is looking. Perhaps that can occupy me for a bit tomorrow.

imjin100 · 22/11/2007 17:22

all this mention of food......
have bus journey home before I can climb into fridge...and consume what is there....shockingly I fear we have nothing in...
the joys of coming back from holiday and eating out every night....talk about weight gain. DH and I competing I think!

glammama · 22/11/2007 17:22

oooh, just remebered I have soe spring onions and a bit of Gouda left. Think I'll put my fab machine on to warm up now. Do people still butter the outside of their toasties or am I just stuck in a seventies calorie nightmare?

e14mum · 22/11/2007 17:30

Butter the outsides. It's called a grilled cheese sandwich then (not "girled cheese" as I once thought as a child!)- yum!
Thanks for tickets GM- will ask DH, but have a feeling it might not be his thing.

glammama · 22/11/2007 17:36

no problem e14 Try and persuade him to at least hang round canary wharf while you come to the show.

here you are ladies (passing round plate of girled (!) cheese sandwiches.
This isn't my proper tea but we eat late on Thursdays as DP doesn't get back from college until 9.45. I've just remembered that I'm having four cheese pizza

spugs · 22/11/2007 17:37

wow i can never keep up with this thread, if you leave for 5 mins theres 50 messages

lauren - i kept a diary through out my last pregnancy and still try to keep it now, it a leather bound one from whsmiths and i love reading back about my last pregnancy and what the kids were up to. i also have a baby book for each of them, though ive never completed one. my one for this baby is the hungry caterpillar one which i like (its not full of teddies or winnoie the poo)

weight gain wise i reckon i ve put on just over half a stone. i have no control over my appitite and seem to be stuffing my face for the sake of it. i ve always lost the weight fairly fast before so im trying not to think about it. im still haunted from my last preg from when i tried to put my size 10 jeans a week after giving birth and realised they wouldnt go past my knees. did nt realise till then how big i was.

doup76 · 22/11/2007 18:02

If you've got a toastie machine i can't belive you were even considering the weetabix!!!!!

I am all about the cheese generally at the mo.....

HolidaysQueen · 22/11/2007 18:42

Hello -

I've just been stuck in horrendous traffic coming back from the hospital - 20 mins to get there, 1 hr 20 to get back!!! DH has told me I must under no circumstances go into labour during rush hour. Bloody London!

Anyway, I'm back and all is well. We're having a baby boy (another one for the list!) who is right on average on every measure apart from his tummy which is almost off the scale so he's going to be a little fatty

It was thrilling to see him. Have to be rescanned at 36 weeks as my placenta is right by the neck of my cervix but they think it will move as it isn't covering it. So I won't know until then whether natural birth will be possible. Apart from that, really excited and now off out for dinner to celebrate.

YAY!!!!!!

glammama · 22/11/2007 19:14

Congratulations HQ! Another boy, wow! Your placenta situation is the same as mine. You don't have to answer this if you don't want to but the Dr told me not to have (look away now if tmi) penetrative sex due to placenta and cervix being so close and they told me there was a small risk of bleeding. Did they also tell you that? I'm interested in seeing if there is a consensus or just my Dr being extra cautious.
Also our boys have matching fat tummies, yay!!

turtle23 · 22/11/2007 20:17

My little boy is also at the monster fat end for tummies! Congrats!
On the weight front, it appears I have you all beat. I have put on..(whispers) 33 pounds. Yup, you heard me, nearly 2 1/2 stone. Can't imagine why...
On the plus side, I was underweight to begin with so am truly enjoying being curvy!!
I am eating peanuts because the little girl I look after has a very allergic family and all the allergy specialists we see have said that actually it doesn't make any difference and if you have an allergic history eating small amounts may actually help. Will admit though that my new way of eating peanut butter is to scoop it out of the tub (skippy only) with satsuma segments. YUMMY!

doup76 · 22/11/2007 21:45

I am having a fat and long little boy too! Hurray!
I also have the placenta right over my cervix and so does a friend of mine due around the same time. She has been told that if she experiences any bleeding she should stop have sex. I was put on a nookie ban from 16 weeks by my doctor but that is probably in part due to the fact I have a bleeding disorder. From what I understand having sex may cause some bleeding as the placenta gets disturbed but usually the bleeding will stop. The danger is if the bleeding does not stop and becomes severe they have to get the baby out for the sake of mum and bub .....
The weird thing is that 8 weeks have gone by and hubby seems fine about it. It's me that is finding it hard....keeping thinking should I risk it when I get to 28 weeks....friskiness was the last thing I was expecting with a big bump !!!!

HolidaysQueen · 22/11/2007 22:16

The scan lady said she doesn't think I'll have a problem as the edge of my placenta is only just butting up against the edge of the cervix and as my uterus expands it should just move away but that she would rather have me checked out at 36 weeks so she can put her own mind at rest and be sure she didn't miss anything. She was very sweet in general actually - telling me that my baby had lovely lips amongst other things!

The midwife didn't seem fussed either - baby is breech at the moment but they didn't even comment on that and they basically both said it is worst case that I'll need a caesarean and that I can assume for now that a natural birth will be possible. So no mention of not having sex or anything. Sorry, glammama, that's probably not what you wanted to hear!!!

MarchMum · 23/11/2007 04:41

Agree we should ban scales, everyone's body so different. Am eating almost everything except blue cheese, raw fish and raw eggs. Peanuts thing still bugging me - no allergy history in family but dp has wicked hay fever. Does that count? Do not want life of 'don't feed my kid peanuts' pleadings but love all peanut related things!! (Just ate two Reeses peanut butter cups smuggled back from Canada...yum! Having a serious chocolate inhalation week....)

MarchMum · 23/11/2007 04:51

Ps also very clumsy, have been from the beginning. DH doesn't let me handle anything breakable!

HolidaysQueen · 23/11/2007 08:16

Morning all - I'm still buzzing after the excitement of our scan yesterday! I've put a couple of photos on my profile page and will try and get a bump photo up this weekend. I think I've put on about 10lbs but never really knew what I was before anyway. The midwife says they don't weigh people routinely any more as it's not a good indicator or baby's health etc. so I think that means I don't need to keep track either!

I think I'm pretty much like marchmum on food - no blue cheese or rind cheese, no raw fish or meat and cooked eggs. Occasionally have prawns, peanuts, smoked salmon etc. and definitely eat parma ham and bagged salad! Off out for girls night tonight so might treat myself to a slightly bigger glass of wine than normal

merryberry · 23/11/2007 08:42

hi HQ, i had the same position placenta as you with ds1. looked it up at the time and 90-95% of them have moved by week 35ish. mine did ok.

this time placenta is anterior. it really makes a difference - i feel the kicks to the back more and poor dp can't really pick them up as it muffles the tummy front kicks.

taking ds1 to a pre-school for a look see in 20 minutes. very exciting, feel like we're moving on and growing.

Prisci · 23/11/2007 08:51

Hi Everyone,

It has been a crazy couple of week. Foodwise, you can keep eating sushi's and sashimi's, you just need to make sure the fish has been frozen before, so it kills the warms etc... They look at you a bit weirdly when you ask if the it has been frozen or not but...what the hell we are pregnant...I have been craving it non stop and my parents said it was fine (they are both GP's), and nuts are fine too...you should only be careful if there is an history of nut allergy in yours or your partner's family.

derah · 23/11/2007 08:56

Hello ladies

I'm here, Glammama! Been reading but didn't have anything meaningful to say.

Very of all of you who have only gained 7lbs! I've banned the scales but I'm getting sooooooo fat it's crazy. I've gone up two sizes and have nasty fat rolls on my arms and thighs. I really hate it, but I struggle with binge eating disorder and really have trouble regulating how much I eat. I usually balance it out with exercise but can't go for a long run in the morning at the moment, now can I?! Just going to have to resign myself to being a porker for a few more months.

Bump is suddenly getting quite painful, especially when I pick DD up. And the indigestion struck last night. Poor poor me!?

Anyone else tired of being pregnant now?

Sorry, that was quite a miserable post for a Friday morning! I'm not actually feeling so miserable, post just seemed to come out that way.

derah · 23/11/2007 08:58

Prisci - cold doesn't kill bacteria! At work we store bacterial samples at -80 degrees, and they still grow again when defrosted.

I'd stick with veggie sushi to be sure.

spugs · 23/11/2007 09:04

oh crap, jumped on scales last night and half a stone was a bit of an underestimate. its more like a stone. ooops its off eating to much crap, if i just had a bit of will power i prob wouldnt pile it on quite as much. now wheres that cheeesy spud

surprisedandexcitedmum · 23/11/2007 09:42

My weight gain seems to have exceeded my 8 lbs too - or perhaps I had a heavy dinner last night. I know it's wrong to weigh myself, but i'm addicted.

I actually am keeping a blog about my pregnancy but I have bought a beautiful photo album from Liberties to keep for baby too.

timmyinatizzy · 23/11/2007 09:44

HQ - Woo hoo another boy! One of the midwifes I saw said the same thing about weighing mums. It puts too much stress on you. They measure the baby and as long as that is ok, then you are ok. Obviously they would be able to spot people who are seriously underweight.

My placenta is up high and it makes my bump look bigger than it is. I only really felt Junior move below my belly button until this week when I've had a few punches/kicks above it. Wierd sensation when I'm used to low ones.
