Not very original, but the thread WAS becoming ridiculously big.

I've got my GTT test on Tuesday. What kind of Lucozade should I take and which variety?

merryberry · 15/12/2007 08:51

onset of instructions

another set instructions

people seem coy about putting pics on the web. anyone find any?

GTT: I don't think you do the lucozade drink yourself, they will give you whatever you will need to take. But you must fast for the whole night before you can have water only

merryberry · 15/12/2007 08:53

20% off all Isabella oliver stock for 3 days with code EKX127

turtle23 · 15/12/2007 08:58

Is this glucose test something everyone has? I haven't been told anything about it.

turtledove23 · 15/12/2007 09:18

It's taken me a while to find a xmas name. Prob very obvious for the non-pregnant brained to have thought of!

minspugs · 15/12/2007 09:29

ive never had glucose test, its to test for diabetes i think. wouldnt worry about it.

preggersagain · 15/12/2007 11:21

Morning all- how are we all on this fine winters day? I've woken up full of festive spirit and joy- feels very strange to have so much energy!!

well last night i slept in comfort- for our christmas pressie to each other dh and i have bought a new memory foam mattress for our bed and it was delivered yesterday- heaven! Also i had my package from blooming marvellous yesterday- including two pairs of mat/feeding pj's- they are worth every penny, they actually fit and look quite stylish- and the drop down feeding cups keep dh most ammused

well busy busy today- second to last weekend before christmas- i'm off to pick up a digital photo frame and get the kids stockings sorted.

Good luck to anyone else trying to finish off christmas shopping today- be careful of the crowds, people tend to go slightly mad at this time of year and lose all their manners!

merryberry · 15/12/2007 21:38

reluctantly went to edmonton ikea this pm as we had so much stuff still needed in our half empty house. only my 2nd time in an ikea, loathed the first trip years back, as nothing was in stock.

ikea was empty! amazing, dp and i had a blast going round it. no stress (no child with us!), nearly everything was in stock, got a cab-van home no probs.

still can't believe it was almost pleasant.

turtledove23 · 16/12/2007 13:26

It's only just really dawned on me that I go on maternity leave (well, on holiday never to return) on Thursday! And I don't even work on Mondays! Two more days of work and I'm a SAHM forevermore. I can't wait!
Hope everybody is having a good weekend.

skidoodle · 16/12/2007 19:44

aww, turtledove how sweet you should move the 2 to the beginning and be 2turtledoves3.

that's fab that you've only 2 days left. I remember ages ago, in the summer, you counting up the days you had left to work. Time's really flown by in some ways.

In others it seems as though we've been pregnant forever.

thanks for the links merryberry, very useful.

surprisedandexcitedmum · 16/12/2007 20:55

turtle 23 I had the GTT because I was 35, it is for diabetes, and I had to drink my own lucozade - the original kid definately not fruit - but I didn't have to fast. Now I have a bruised arm and have to wait a week for the results. The midwife gave me the instructions.

i have 25 more working days, but then I'm hopfully not working until September / October. I'd love to be a SAHM but it's not to be; that said after a team do on Thursday I realised I will miss the people.

fitnforty · 16/12/2007 22:54

ooh, lucky you, only 2 days! Make sure you don't get bored
I've about 30 working days to go, depending on what time off we get in lieu for the first weekend after new year when i may be in both days.
Lodger has only been here for 2 1/2 days and i already want to kill him. He's taking up too much cupboard space, freezer and fridge space. Doesn't wash dishes with washing up liquid, so i'm sneaking all the stuff he's "washed" into the dishwasher. Oh, and first thing he did was 2 loads of washing on Fri night, and another 2 loads since!!!
However, my friend came round to deliver the Moffii cradle i got on ebay which she'd collected from London for me...it's a little bigger on the ground than i expected, but looks damn good! Excellent condition and all relevant bits are washable Now all i need is to get the lodger out so i have room to put it up

fitnforty · 16/12/2007 22:59

forgot to say re the GTT, I was put down for that test due to my BMI being on the obese side and having an obscure relation with diabetes. Age wasn't mentioned but probably only cos they got me on 2 other options
Not sure how they measure it accurately if you didn't have to fast, suprised&excited! And provide your own drink? Sheesh, NHS cutbacks eh?
The only reason i cut out the sugar beforehand is because i've heard it can skew the results a bit, but also because i know i have a sugar addiction so i'm very susceptible to its evilness

MumOfBillyTheKid · 17/12/2007 11:58

Happy Monday morning all

Feeling a bit more organised about Xmas now - most pressies bought and wrapped (just need a couple of bits for DP). Only working another 3 days to Xmas shutdown - yippee! Just counted - 31 working days left till Mat leave starts.....

Played golf on Saturday - was surprised, hadn't played for about 2 months and bump didn't get in the way - lack of fitness did - I was huffing and puffing walking around the course like an old man! Decided to have a well earned mince pie at the end . Think I'll book a buggy next time I play!

Thanks Merryberry for the links - very useful.

LO has been doing somersaults this w/end - am sure he/she was somersaulting in my tummy - at 2am ! When do they apparently start calming down?

timmyinatizzy · 17/12/2007 11:59

Its all official now, just signed the forms for HR. I start maternity leave on the 15th February 2008 . Taking the annual leave I have left for 2007 and a weeks from 2008, after today I have 25 working days left. Celebration time.

Probably won't be on much now as we're going to be super busy this week. Can't think why? . Will try and post some pics of the wedding, but can't promise it will be this side of xmas.

Hope everyone has a wonderful christmas if I can't catch up before. And look after those special presents.

Morning all,

anyone else suddenly ballooned out over the weekend? Last week I had a nice neat little bump. Now I look like one of the hippos from fantasia.

also, is it wrong if we talk about epidurals? or is it to unfestive and should I leave such questions to the dark days of January. I finally decided that as I've entered the 3rd trimester (!) I should start finding out about the various kinds of pain relief. I managed to freak myself out about epidurals and so got no further.

hope you all had a nice weekend. I was at my Granny's 90th birthday. I wonder what the baby will call her? I guess I'll find out what my cousin's kids do.

skidoodle · 17/12/2007 12:07

oh timmyinatizzy, have a great wedding

sorry I wasn't around for your virtual hen night, it sounded fab.

e14mum · 17/12/2007 12:38

Has anyone else been getting wild and crazy movements- like LO is flailing all its limbs at once? Do they get startled at this stage? It esp likes to do this at night or early in the morning.

Had a great festive weekend- 2 parties with lots of treats and mulled wine. Christmas shopping nearly done. Have a very small and managable list of things left to buy.

My last day of work looks like the 8th of Feb! Might be the 15th, as I'm going to take holiday first, so I guess I can still be a bit flexi at this stage. Can't believe it's coming so soon.

Christmas lunch #1 today (#2 is tomorrow )... yum yum!

surprisedandexcitedmum · 17/12/2007 12:53

e14mum - LO does a marvelous Irene Cara of Fame fame impression, normally at about 5 am. It's so good I'm going to buy her leg warmers...

modsaluk · 17/12/2007 12:57

Good afternoon everyone, nothing much to report here have been keeping up to date on postings.

I am seeing the consultant on Wednesday at 10am and quite nervous about it not sure why.

The twins are keeping up with the dance and football practice and kicking quite a lot at the moment sometimes feels like it does not stop.

When people see me and ask when i am due etc they all pull strange faces the kind of face that says rather you than me lol and they all expect me to be nearly full term due to the size of my belly, but there are two babies in the bound to be bigger.

Its our works xmas party on Thursday not really looking forward to it feel quite low at the moment not sure why and feel like i dont look good in anything but heyho.

Hope everyone is ok, i see preggers you are still with us, you are so organised.

gingercat12 · 17/12/2007 13:06

e14mum My LO did not like trumpets, and went a bit mental when he first heard it. Currently he is very active, because I think we had our first proper (quite painful) BH. I thought it was him being in an awkward position, but it lasted almost a minute and only standing up helped. Also the back pain disappeared without a trace, although normally I'd be in agony with backache for days. Anyway I digress, LO is currently blaming me for squashing him so badly (or whatever happens to him during a contraction) and does not stop punching me from all directions. It makes me very happy though, as I was quite worried about him. He does not feel distressed, just angry.

minspugs · 17/12/2007 13:58

skidoodle - imho it is never to early to begin thinking about drugs i havent had an epi but have taken full advantage of thw g&a and pethidine during my last 2 labours. hopefully will manage minus the pethidine this time as its more a psychological thing for me. best idea is to look into all the options and then decide when your there how strong you want to o go, you dont know how easy or hard you'll find it.

this baby seems to be feet down or traverse most of the time, but last night in the bath it had something weged onto a nerve in my hip and i was in agony. ended up having to shove baby oout the way a bit to get some relief. it was also kicking me high up in the back which ive never had before. if i put my hand on my back just below the ribs i could feel it moving was a bit urghh

JFly · 17/12/2007 14:27

Skidoodle - Epidural? La la la...I can't hear you.... Still have my denial earmuffs on.

HQ - as I mentioned, my LO's lack of movement for a week or so made me high-tail it to the hospital for monitoring. I think they can just get in positions where they can't move as well and then you don't feel it as much or as strongly. LO has moved back to the middle since, and now feel it moving lots.

Oh and emotions, crying? Check.
Cried at the pub the other night b/c they said they could only cook my steak medium rare and I wanted it medium. Oh, the humiliating, unstoppable, cartoon tears. My husband was mortified, as was I!

surprisedandexcitedmum · 17/12/2007 15:18

I decided I'd think about labour next year; but that isn't that far away anymore!

turtledove23 · 17/12/2007 17:56

Think I may be a freak of nature in that I am still looking forward to the birth with nothing but excitement. No fear. Have birth plan done but not fussed if things change, and am generally relaxed. Give me time, I guess. Think I have just had enough experience with operations, hospitals and pain to remember that it all goes away after a while and THIS TIME we get a baby!
