May I join in? I am due 26th May according to 2 scans (though my dates made it 2nd June)

We think it's a boy!

I;d be interested re advice for SPD, as I started to get pains at the front of my pelvis after coming back from London last week (I'd taken advantage of late night shopping to browse the maternity departments!)

Doh just posted on the old board before noticing you had all moved! I'm due on May 23rd - first timer & don't know the sex - and am very excited, great to have this board.

Wondered if anyone lived in the Kingston/Surbiton area at all? Have booked my NCT classes but not sure if I should go to the hospital classes too. Either way if you live in the same area would be great to swap suggestions or experiences!

xx

so sorry you lost them before

chatname · 29/01/2008 14:08

Well, things seem to be going relatively well this time! (finger crossed)

Except that I am off work with 1) cold 2) bit worried about these pains in my pelvis ?SPD starting.

boabsmum · 29/01/2008 14:16

Afternoon all

I'm sore today - all self inflicted - was chasing minxy dd round Mothercare World this morning and now my pelvis is playing up. Have taken 2 paracetamol but I know they won't touch it. But I did buy a cute outfit for db and some lovely maternity PJs for me. Their sale is pretty good - loads of gorgeous childrenswear - must resist though!

Dh loses his job at the end of Feb and we don't know what'll happen after that. He had an interview yesterday adn said it went well, so hopefully we'l hear about that soon.

chatname - SPD is a misery! Have you found the Pelvic Partnership website? It's got loads of advice including a guide to getting a temporary disabled badge or DLA. I think I'm too far on now though, by the time all the paperwork went through I'd have had baby!

The only cure is doing nothing. PLus see the physio in the maternity unit and get a support belt - worse case scenario is crutches or a wheelchair.

Hello everyone btw

Mumblesmummy · 29/01/2008 17:53

Mitchell- Terrible about your friend, hope she's as well as can be when something like that happens.

On the subject of names my advice to EVERYONE is to not tell anyone because it's sooooooooooo much more trouble than it's worth and mid-hormones you end up getting supremely mad at people and thinking you hate them lol.

Pazza- Anais is lovely by the way.

I wonder who will be the first and who will be the last of us to have our babies... the last person will be v frustrated!! hehe

xx

janemf · 29/01/2008 17:54

Hello, I'd like to join too. I'm a first-time mum-to-be due on 19 May. We're going for a surprise on the flavour, although hubby and MiL are both convinced it's going to be a boy.

I've been getting a bit of ligament pain at the front too. At its worst first thing in the morning, but generally just a bit uncomfortable if I move suddenly - is it likely to get worse or does it sometimes just go away?

Fleurie76 · 29/01/2008 19:09

Mum2scrap - you must be my virtual twin, I'm due on the same date with a first baby - sex also a surprise. I also used to live in Kingston / Surbiton up until 18 months ago! (very jealous you now have a Cath Kidson store that's opened in Kingston!)
On classes in the area, I have a friend that had a baby in Kingston fairly recently, they tried the antenatal classes, didn't find them that useful and left but really got on with the NCT ones and made loads of friends.

Boabsmum - good luck for your DH with interviews and getting a new position, have been through the employment/redundancy mill with DH a few times and I know how uncertain it can make things. Fingers crossed for you.

Welcome chatname and janemf

Truffy18 · 29/01/2008 20:29

Hi everyone! Not sure how this works but can I join in?!

Mitchell I'm really sad for you and your friend, and know what you mean. It is a constant reminder but don't avoid her because of it, not to say you will but you may think that's what she wants and it may not be. I lost my first baby at 14 wks and my friend was a week ahead of me, the first time she saw me she didn't give me a hug because of it all and that was actually harder but I know it was just as awkward for her as it was for me. I'm sure you'll both find your ground though. x

I had no idea so many of you know what you are having! Up here NW Scotland we only get a scan at 12 weeks and they are reluctant to tell you the sex, apparently.

Names...love them. Sweetbean it's funny a Mum at our playgroup has a Freya, Leonie, Maisie and and Isaac! I loooove Isaac but dh isn't keen and our surname begins with a c so would be quite awkward. I love Freya too.

Indigo, I think Alice and Lewis go together, you often find siblings with similar sounding names.

I love Carmen too, Pazza.

Oh ok then even though I may regret it, we're thinking Cooper for a boy. Well, it's the only one we've mentioned so far and both said "yes"...! It was dh's suggestion, Jaxon was mine so I quite like that idea too! I was at college with a Jaxon, I just remember him for having dark strong features and since having ds found out he's now a solicitor! I quite like surnames, like Fraser, for a boy, but dh doesn't. Our surname is a ryhm-ie one so we need a solid sounding first name, IYSWIM. I also quite like Scarlett for a girl but MIL also does and wouldn't want her to think it was her suggestion we haven't discussed our choices, just had conversations and she's a very vocal person, LOL! I don't mind structural criticism...ie if you know of any awful associations with the names that we haven't considered. Still not sure if we're brave enough though...

Pelvis not happy today, and I haven't even left the house. Can't visualise myself in 13/14 weeks somehow...!

sweetbean · 30/01/2008 08:39

Hello Lovely Ladies

Welcome to Janemf, Truffy18, Mumtoscrap xxx its lovely to have so many new people joining !!

MumblesMummy

I'm SURE i will be the last one to POP im due on the 24th so am late in the month anyway and my first DD was 10 days late so im not holding out any hope that this one will be different plus the fact that im not keen to be induced so that will be left as a very last resort !!!! oh and if baba arrives after the 4th June my parents won't be able to come and see Lo of 3 weeks (long story) so it bound to be late !!!!

Boadmum

Fingers crossed that you DH find a job soon what does he do ??

Mrstresshead
So glad that you would also feel a bit strange if LO turned out to be a boy.Its not that i wouldn't want a boy but after being told that her money was on a girl it would be very odd to get my head around having a boy on the plus side i would have 10 weeks to get used to the idea before the birth ! xx

Very quick spd question i get very bad pain in my lover back when i have been lying down and then try to stand up some times i can hardly walk it goes down my leg as well. i have also been getting a pain im my fanjo which feels like loads of pressure has built up on one side and it really aches do you think it could be spd or is it just week ligaments ??? (or an i a bloody hypochondriac !!!)

sweetbean · 30/01/2008 08:45

Bramblina

i new id forgotten someone

I really like the name Cooper, but agree that you would have to be a bit care with your surname however if you and your DH like it then go for it !!!!!!!!! there are way to many run of the mill names out there and i would say Dare to be Different !!!!!!!!! grin]

Mitchell81 · 30/01/2008 09:00

Welcome to Janemf, chatname, truffy18, mumtoscrap

SPD feels like your public bones are either rubbing, splitting or moving when you walk or move around in bed, the minute you move you can feel the pain.

I am sure someone will have more medical terms than this.

Mitchell81 · 30/01/2008 09:02

Mrsstresshead you must be so pleased to have finished work

Boabsmum- hope the interview went well with DH

janemf · 30/01/2008 10:11

Thanks for all the hellos. Sounds like my pelvic discomfort is kind of minor compared to Mitchell81's description, so I'll not worry too much and try to remember to get out of bed slowly - not very difficult in this cold weather.

I like hearing all the names, Alice and Lewis do sound nice together. Completely stuck on a boy's name. Thinking about Peter, but dh is currently away and not in easy contact (climbing a mountain) so haven't had a chance to discuss it. We're agreeing on so many girl's names we're going to decide on a name on the day - possibly a bit optimistic, but it worked with the dog .

Sweetbean - the pain down your leg is probably sciatica - I've had that but mine's cleared up now, so fingers crossed for you.

And I agree, the pressure down below does feel like you've just given birth! (Although an incredibly mild form of it) i was wondering if i was the only one with that sort of sensation!

OP posts:
Mumblesmummy · 30/01/2008 15:00

Bramblina- one of my best friends has a son called Cooper! He's lovely and very laddish. I think she got it from one tree hill or the oc.

Sweetbean- That would be typical wouldn't it? Hope it doesn't turn out that way for you though. I'll cross my fingers for you. EVERYONE keeps saying mine will be late but I reckon he'll be early as i have constant period pains so I'm wondering if they're like early braxton hicks or something? I've had sciatica too it's actually not as bad now as it was when I first got pregnant! But it's still there and at it's worst when I lie flat or try to get up.

Boabsmum- we found out last night that we're in the same boat. DP can either go off and live and work in scotland which means he'll miss the birth and pretty much most of the baby, but we'll afford to live, or he's out of a job and we can't afford to live... I'd prefer the latter because don't want to be away from him. He's on a mega job hunt now.

Mitchell- I've put my holidays and then mat leave at one of my jobs too. I don't care, it's a terrible job and I didn't want to go on so I'm not. I finish the other job on March 5th but there's so much assessment and pressure it's started to get to me.

I'd been teaching today and came out of college and this lass pushed me (there was an oncoming car which nearly got me). There was a group of 5 people, and it was 1 of the lasses out of them. I'm visably 6 months pregnant so I was really upset about it and a little shaken up. When I told DP he was really pissed off. Then when I described her he said 'oh she didn't have (such and such feature) did she?' She did, but i said no as he obviously knew her.... and so I felt all weird about it. I'm still upset though.

Mumblesmummy · 30/01/2008 15:01

By the way, I'm 22 and teaching 17-20 year olds so I don't get much respect, and often they don't realise I'm a lecturer, not a student... so that's why I get so little respect and A LOT of grief.
