@Inmypjsagain oooh Ok, maybe I will be brave enough to give it another shot. I had the same thought about it being easier to smother on even if I can’t see.

PurplePansy05 · 13/04/2021 18:27

I don't even know if my DH remembers how to shave, he has a beard 🙈 I can't imagine him there with my Venus 🙈 But then what's the alternative, the Mighty Bush it seems 😳 xx

Daffodil21 · 13/04/2021 18:52

I'm so glad I read this about hair removal cream before I tried it!!!

lucyrp · 13/04/2021 19:16

@Inmypjsagain how are you taking it off ?🤣 I find it takes a lot of precision and skill to scrape off 🙄

Inmypjsagain · 13/04/2021 19:53

@PurplePansy05 wow he really is coming out in sympathy ha! I love you relegated him to the sofa 😂 and I wouldn’t trust anyone with a razor there... the thought makes me giggle!

@lucyrp plucking would be ok I think... I’ll do it eventually, I was quite embarrassed at my scan! Baby won’t mind, right? I use the in shower veet so it just rinses off and it comes with a sponge with a rough side that I go over with. Though I can’t see it that well now so it could be patchy 😂

@LottSE20 maybe try a test patch before you do the whole region?

I really took for granted my ability to see and access my whole body before!

Ghhh · 13/04/2021 20:02

Had my scan today... boy 💙 due 25/08. I said I didn't feel movement really and she said as its my first, I won't be able to feel regular movement until 24 weeks. I've also got a low placenta so I've got another scan at 32 weeks to see if its risen but she said it doesn't effect the baby worse case is a c section at 39 weeks. Has anyone experienced the same?? X

lucyrp · 13/04/2021 20:04

@Inmypjsagain it's part of my Linea nigra coming I think so quite chuffed with mine 😂 how does that work? Do you just do the outer bits and not the inner bits ?🤣

LottSE20 · 13/04/2021 20:04

@Ghhh exact same for me - I have a low lying anterior placenta. She said it was touching but not covering the cervix and they are scanning me again at 36w to check it’s position. Apparently there’s a good chance it will move up as the uterus grows

LottSE20 · 13/04/2021 20:06

Ps congrats on the boy!

HopefulB · 13/04/2021 20:14

I’ve got an electric razor, which I rarely use, but would defo trust OH to use on legs (that said he has in the past done his own legs for cycling so not complete novice!!)... not so sure on bikini. I thought I might be able to tolerate a wax?! Can still reach at the mo, so putting off thinking about it for a bit longer.

@Ghhh you've got same due date as me and also a boy!
Congrats on the scan!

K2a0t1i5e · 14/04/2021 06:32

Hi
Just wanted to share a little savings hack I used. To save £60 in total from mamas and papas. I got my mum to sign up on the mamas and papas email registration then she referred me as a friend. I then could use a £30 off voucher when I spend over £150 I used it in the sale for the next to me crib (£200 with £40 off in the sale and then an additional £30 off) ended up paying £131 for the crib instead of £200.

Then my mum got emailed a £30 off £150 for me using the link so we ended up with £15 off a BT monitor in the sale plus £30 off saving £45 in total.

Total saving of £114.

Daffodil21 · 14/04/2021 06:58

Is anyone having issues with their employers??

LyraShaeLilly · 14/04/2021 07:33

@Daffodil21

So sorry your having employer issues, is it about the covid guidelines or just the maternity stuff in general?

Daffodil21 · 14/04/2021 07:39

@LyraShaeLilly a combination of both. There had been no issues at all prior to me telling my boss I was pregnant, and ever since then every now and then he'll make a comment or suggest that I'm not doing my job properly (which is totally incorrect). I've been keeping a track of everything he says in relation to this in case I need to use it at a later date.

But yesterday he asked me to go on a building site, every two weeks until I go on maternity leave. So he has actually asked a 6-9 month pregnant woman to go on a building site during a pandemic when the advice is still wfh. I have refused to do this (politely) and he has come back saying what they're asking is not being unreasonable. Of course it is and I am 100% not doing it. I can't deal with the work stress he is causing me, so I'm going to change my maternity leave date to as early as I can. He won't be happy about this because I had previously said it would be mid-July but at the same time he hasn't really given me much choice!

lucyrp · 14/04/2021 07:44

@Daffodil21 I'm having employer issues but not as bad as yours I don't think. A select supervisor is being really rude in regards to me being pregnant. When I get to work it's like the decisions of what I will be doing every day are already made for me and discussed without me before I get there, then I get shoved in the office inside which is by no means a part of my job as I am purely customer service based. I have discussed this with my manager and she has reiterated to them that I am allowed to work as normal until 28 weeks and then there's only a slight change that needs to be done until I leave at 38 weeks but this select person seems to take it upon themselves to get rid of me and banish me out of the way. I have a meeting with my manager on Saturday to discuss it.

LyraShaeLilly · 14/04/2021 07:54

www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-advice-for-pregnant-employees/coronavirus-covid-19-advice-for-pregnant-employees

This is the government guidelines and they are very clear on my opinion. They were updated on 29th March and states that ever pregnant woman should have a risk assessment and only work past 28 weeks in line with assessment, this assessment may include suspension on full pay.

@Daffodil21 I would ask for a risk assessment, I doubt that would allow you to go onto a building site after 28 weeks!!

Lille4 · 14/04/2021 07:57

Thanks for starting a new thread OP! currently 22 weeks and so excited we're halfway there now 😊

We found out we're having a girl so it feels like it's our first time again haha 😆 our first is a boy who is now 4 so I'm excited it's a girl better this time, can't wait to see his reaction 🎉💞💞💞😊

That's so unfortunate some of you have had horrible experiences with hair removal cream. I usually get laser hair removal normally but with the pregnancy I have been using the Veet sensitive skin cream and it's been amazing for me! Especially because I can't see anything past my belly button now. I just slather it on in front of the mirror then wash it off after 10 minutes. Smoothest skin ever!

Ghhh · 14/04/2021 08:21

@LottSE20 ahhh yeah, the doctor said 9/10 times it rises but when the sonographer told us i was worried but its not really anything to worry about. X

Inmypjsagain · 14/04/2021 08:46

@Ghhh congratulations on your boy 💙 and @Lille4 congratulations on your girl 💕

@K2a0t1i5e ohh that is a great tip, thank you, hopefully they don’t change it for a month or so because I still feel a bit funny about buying stuff atm.

@lucyrp I do everywhere, normally no issues? Maybe the shower one as a different formula making it easier to come off or something? Ohhh I wanted to ask if anyone was getting linea nigra- I’ve got nothing for now!

Ugh employers- I just think ultimately they don’t care. I’m in a client facing role, I don’t mind if we can still distance but if social distancing stops totally in June then I will be very uncomfortable! I don’t particularly want to feel like I have to start Mat leave earlier than planned so that I’m not told sit in a small meeting room with clients for hours at a time! @Daffodil21 have you had any risk assessment carried out yet?

Ready2020 · 14/04/2021 09:48

I feel extremely lucky in that I'm still working from home (civil servant). The job is stressful though there is a bit of a lull just now due to the election up here in Scotland. I'm pretty up front with my boss and say when I'm having a shit day and just decide to take the day off. But then I don't have to ask face to face.

My normal boss is off just now though as he caught covid from his kid who took it home from school! So his boss has been managing me. She's in her late 40s I'd say and has no interest in kids, nor cares how I'm feeling while pregnant, just at long as the work is done.

On hair removal I think you can get shower specific hair removal cream that you put on at the start then by the end of the shower the hair is gone. I'm not personally overly bothered about being hairy anyway and OH doesn't seem to care.

Ready2020 · 14/04/2021 09:50

I had my whooping cough vaccine yesterday and feeling a bit run down today. Anyone else experience that?

Ghhh · 14/04/2021 10:10

I had the whooping cough vaccine yesterday and feel really tired and full of a cold. Over the last couple of days I've had snitches that come and go in my right rib anyone know what this is??

Magik01 · 14/04/2021 10:13

@BertieBotts can I have your opinion on the cosetto all in all rotate car seat?! I can’t really find anything online about safety of it? It does have good reviews though and I like the fact it will last until 12 years old roughly!

@Daffodil21 I would send your employer the link to the government guidelines and say you don’t feel like they are following them in terms of your safety! Maybe get in touch with ACAS as well and see what they say? Luckily my employer is actually being really good, although the late nights are starting to take its toll so I’m tempted to ask if I can start and finish earlier! Still hoping for the magic 28 weeks to be there so they can send me home with pay 😂

PurplePansy05 · 14/04/2021 10:47

What timing. My boss just said HR will be circulating a new guidance soon expectinb us back in the office for 3 days a week. Just as I'll soon be turning into the third trimester. I've worked from home for 13 months now, I hope they'll take a view not to force me to come in because I clearly can do my job from anywhere. It would be ridiculous to bring me in just as I'm becoming most vulnerable. I must say, I am freaking out about this because I really don't want to get ill now and risk premature birth and losing DS. I think I'll have to argue my way out of this somehow but I'm so stressed already this is the last thing I needed 😭 Absolute shitshow this month with everything, I've had enough.

@Daffodil21 Don't let them force you to have to take early mat leave because of their unreasonable demands. Read through RCOG guidelines on their website in respect of covid and working in pregnancy and throw the book at them. I'd also throw the big D (discrimination) word into the conversation, this might make them fuck off. That's what I'm going to do if I have to, early mat leave really is the absolute last resort and if it comes to this there's no way I'm coming back to work for them. Also I suggest you follow Pregnant and Screwed on Facebook - lots of useful resources. ACAS is another possibility, they can assist with a grievance/early conciliation if that's what you'd consider (although they are inundated now). Don't compromise before exhausting all other available routes, you and your baby shouldn't be in this position xx
