@Ready2020 welcome, I'm 37 also (just turned) - so nice you are getting extra growth scans. I am having them for some other things and every time I get to see the baby is a good day!

Thanks to everyone for the discussion on baby monitors. I probably won't get one to begin with, but might consider it when we move to a bigger place, as the baby will just be in our bedroom for the first 6 months and our flat is quite tiny anyway.

Has anyone noticed that they've started getting acid reflux? It has appeared this week out of nowhere and really not fun. Otherwise feeling good though, less pelvic pain now.

Caz1226 · 13/04/2021 10:44

Hi ladies
I hope everyone is doing well
Just a quick question- is anyone going through crazy mood swings?
I feel so irritable recently over nothing really but I can’t seem to shake it off xx

PurplePansy05 · 13/04/2021 10:57

I don't think I need to add how irritable I am now 😂 Mood swings, say no more!

Re reflux & heartburn, also very familiar. Rennies are my friend now.

To add to our list of crude topics, are we all planning to go au naturel down there, as in no shaving/trimming/waxing? I have started to struggle now, I must admit, even bending over to shave my legs is becoming hard and I expect it will only become harder going forward! So do we accept the prospect of becoming hairy sweaty betties by June/July/August? xx

lucyrp · 13/04/2021 10:58

@Caz1226 I was just saying to my friend. I feel like a completely different person the last couple of weeks. I do get anxiety anyway but the last few weeks I've been so irritable, crying, annoyed, angry, non stop thinking the list goes on and like you say I can't shake it off either. I really hope it goes soon. It doesn't help that my work is really difficult at the moment too xx

Ready2020 · 13/04/2021 10:59

I've had acid reflux before getting pregnant and it is worse now. I try and avoid anything too acidic like tomatoes but tbh any food can trigger it these days.

We've had some really shitty news today. The people selling the house we are moving to want to pull out of the sale due to not enough time for them to find somewhere else! Not the news I need for my stress levels. Our solicitor is trying to save the situation.

lucyrp · 13/04/2021 11:00

@PurplePansy05 my last pregnancy I don't think I bothered with shaving etc towards the end as it was just uncomfortable and annoying to even try and do. I will continue to do my legs whilst wearing dresses etc but haven't thought about how I'm going to combat my bikini line. I have thought about asking OH but will see how desperate I get nearer the time. I can't even see it at the moment so its already proving difficult 😂🙈 I was watching someone's Instagram story this morning and she's "insta famous" and she posted a story saying "just one flap HAHAHA" and the amount of hair on the wax strip was hilarious 🙈😂xx

PurplePansy05 · 13/04/2021 11:19

@Ready2020 Sympathies. If you read my last week's posts you'll know why. I would honestly tell everyone not to move before the baby if I could and not to renovate either! I know it's stressful but it might turn out to be a blessing in disguise, honestly. I would not have bothered at all now had I ever thought we'd end up in such a mess, but there we are. Timings are very tight for completion now tbh, LR, surveyors and solicitors are busy so you're cutting it fine (don't take that as a criticism obvs, it's coming from someone with stripped bare fucking walls in the house 😂). Just don't get stressed if it doesn't go ahead is all I'm saying xx

I hope to become less all over the place soon, it's taking its toll on me, hormones could really do with some calming down now! xx

biscuitcat · 13/04/2021 14:13

@Caz1226 I'm always emotional, pregnant or not, and I feel like I've gone totally loopy at the moment - cry at any little thing and get grouchy when I really shouldn't. It's rubbish feeling irritable especially when you sort of know you're being a bit unreasonable/OTT, so sorry you're feeling it too. I've been trying to be a bit more on it with my self-care activities (actually taking time for pelvic floor exercises, treated myself to a ludicrously expensive skin oil for my bump so I give myself a little massage each evening, etc.) and I've found that makes a difference as I'm more grounded and relaxed. It's hard being pregnant though, so no wonder it's an emotional time xx

@PurplePansy05 I think by summer I'll be rocking a 70s vibe down there!! I'm still ok with my legs and as I imagine I'll be in dresses I'll try keeping them nice and smooth, enlisting DH if needs be though

Has anyone else found that baby's movements make you feel a bit ill? Mine doesn't usually get really active until late-ish in the evening but yesterday was having a dance party while we were eating dinner and I couldn't finish it as I was feeling quite unwell from eating while baby was kicking

Daffodil21 · 13/04/2021 14:36

Welcome @Ready2020 I'm also in Scotland 👋

@PurplePansy05 to be honest I've only shaved my legs twice since being pregnant - because I gained so much so quickly from the meds I was on, I've been struggling to do my legs for ages! I think I might get SH to help though, but that's the only area I'm happy with him doing! I've just blindly taken care of other areas 😂

@biscuitcat no I'm still waiting for movements!!! That does not sound pleasant though ❤️

Is it time for a nap yet???

LottSE20 · 13/04/2021 14:43

@PurplePansy05 I’m glad you started this topic! I think I can get DH to help with legs but I’m not sure I want it to get too wild ‘down there’ - I was thinking about waxing but heard it can be more painful when pregnant? I once made the mistake of trying hair remover cream - DO NOT be tempted to do that. Otherwise I’ll just try to do it blind, providing I can reach

Inmypjsagain · 13/04/2021 14:52

@PurplePansy05 thank you for the info on cybex vs maxi cosi. I guess it’s the type of thing you can have a play with in real life to see what works. Seems they’re all pretty much of a muchness, so I’m tempted with the Maxi cosi one too now! Will let you know if I get a different POV at our JL meeting.

As for hair- I epilate and have been keeping up with that on my legs. I have no idea what I’m gonna do elsewhere though, as I can’t see that region now! I know drs/midwives won’t care but it’s more my own comfort, the thought of no removal down there til gone august terrifies me! I would feel so undignified going for a wax now though...

And hormones- I haven’t been grumpy or anything, I’m just really down about my body shape changing at the moment. I took down the mirror in the bedroom at the weekend because I can’t take looking at myself, it’s like a different person staring back me. I know I need to get a grip- weight gain is normal and im still wearing maternity size smalls for goodness sake, but it’s just hard to see the changes.

PurplePansy05 · 13/04/2021 14:55

@LottSE20 Well that's my problem, I am getting to the stage where I can't reach very well and can't see what I'm doing. I don't want to cut myself there Confused I couldn't consider waxing now, there's so much extra blood being pumped down there this surely must be extra painful Blush

Who knew that the one time I will be flashing my vagina to the world, it would look like the Hairy Bikers' heads. FML.

@lucyrp I bought myself a bodycon dress and I am SO happy with it! So comfy and looks surprisingly good! I'm so glad you've posted about this on the previous thread. Don't think I had the confidence pre-pregnancy, but loving it now ❤ xx

wimbler · 13/04/2021 15:04

@PurplePansy05 agree bodycon dresses are the way forward. I have some looser ones from my first pregnancy that I tried on the other day and I felt so frumpy and weirdly shapeless! I've ordered some bits in the seraphine sale that are due to arrive this week. bit of a splurge for a short period of time but as my husband said, I might as well wear something I like and that is comfortable. Just annoying all my favourite maternity stuff from last time is winter clothes!

lucyrp · 13/04/2021 15:26

@LottSE20 I use hair removal cream I'm curious as to why you say no? Did you have a bad experience ?🤣🙈

@PurplePansy05 they're great aren't they! So comfy too! I would never wear a bodycon usually or if I do with some fat pants underneath to try and suck myself in but that's horrible in the heat. Whilst pregnant is the best time to wear them! I bet you look lush 💜xxx

HopefulB · 13/04/2021 15:56

Hi all,

Just trying to catch up!
Glad you had good news at the scan @LyraShaeLilly, Baby is healthy, but I too have to go back for remainder of measurements.

I’ve been trying to digest all info re growth scans etc as I seem to be being pushed into a very medicalised pathway. Interesting that some of you who are younger than I have been told growth scans due to age. I have been told growth scans, and induction at no later than term due to uterine artery resistance which would increase risk of Pre-eclampsia and IUGR. Whilst I’m grateful they are keeping a close eye, and that I have more opportunities to see the little one, it feels very early to be essentially told your recommended birth plan and then waved goodbye, not to be seen by medics again.
I requested follow up after 32week scan to discuss any questions I had at that stage and will spend the next 12weeks researching the evidence around the plan so I can ask sensible questions!

Ready2020 · 13/04/2021 16:24

Oh believe me this isn't how I planned it Confused The house we're in is an old converted mill and not very child friendly plus it's going to need some serious updating before winter (new tanks etc). My partner really wants out of it and I agreed as long as it was well before baby comes....! That was the plan anyway. Still all seems well with baby after my check up today. My blood pressure is surprisingly normal.

LottSE20 · 13/04/2021 17:14

@lucyrp yes it took the top layer of skin off my more sensitive bits 😳 maybe I used the wrong type but I’m too terrified to try it again!!

lucyrp · 13/04/2021 17:23

@LottSE20 omg!😳😳 I use nair and it seems okay but have read about veet not being great!

Inmypjsagain · 13/04/2021 17:41

Wow I think I’ve just done the most stereotypical pregnant thing today. My husband just brought me some very cold car keys. Turns out I decided to put them in the fridge after I got back from the office this morning. Oops. Wonder why I did that!!!!!

@HopefulB it does seem quite early for them to have decided this, unless it’s routine or something? Still feel like the 32 week scan is quite along way away, hope you get the opportunity to speak to someone before!

@LottSE20 I’ve used Veet before with no issues, but the sensitive one. Feel like even if you can’t see you can sort of smother it 😂 pregnancy is so undignified. I would also usually epilate a small line of hair on my lower stomach which I’m not doing anymore because I figure it would be too noisy for the baby 😂 I even feel a bit funny about plucking those hairs cos it’s kinda the baby’s area!!!!

PurplePansy05 · 13/04/2021 17:50

@Inmypjsagain 😂😂😂

I am yet to have that moment, although DH seems to be ahead of me, he put his car keys in my car (???) and was then looking for them in his car for hours on Saturday 🤦🏼‍♀️ xx

Inmypjsagain · 13/04/2021 18:07

Not my finest hour 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

😂 sounds like he’s come out with sympathetic baby brain @PurplePansy05

PurplePansy05 · 13/04/2021 18:14

@Inmypjsagain He did! He also had a trapped wind yesterday and was walking around bloated, burping and farting every 20 seconds, I sent him to sleep on the sofa 😂 He woke up today and claimed it was his pregnancy sympathy, thought that was cheeky lol! Even I wasn't as bad as him when pregnant! I was laughing my head off at him last night, he was burping like a frog 🐸 Prince Charming 🤣 xx

Millymay13 · 13/04/2021 18:15

I forgot to post after our 20 week scan on Easter Sunday. All good as far as they could see but baby was in an awkward position so we have to go back for the last few checks in a couple of weeks.
As for hair removal I’ve just booked in with my usual sugaring lady and will see how that goes. I’d not thought about it being more painful 😱 If it’s too much my dear husband will be the lucky one to help!

lucyrp · 13/04/2021 18:24

@Inmypjsagain I've got such a long hair on my belly below my belly button since being pregnant and it's black and OH keeps saying to pluck it but I don't want to because it's because of the baby😂🙈

Carefree1 · 13/04/2021 18:24

@LottSE20 I’ve also had an unfortunate incident with hair removal down below. Slathered it on ahead of a ‘romantic’ evening with DH in the early days and ended up taking my skin off too, even have a little scar. That was with Nair 😂. I have braved it since with veet sensitive and seems to be fine.

Definitely going to have to get DH on the job later on, I don’t think I could face legs a kimbo and a full bush.

My baby seems to have been really wriggly today and yesterday. I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve had a few days off of work not doing much so have noticed more 🤷‍♀️.

Got so much to catch up on here, hope all you ladies are well xx
