@PumpkinEverything a friend in work got hers in Ballymena too and said it was all Pfizer! It seemed to have availability when I was booking mine but it's a fair way away from me

PumpkinEverything · 05/05/2021 15:17

@Smurf123 I’m glad to know that’s an option as well as I had thought it would only be hospitals I could get it in. You’ll have to let me know how you get on 😊 what day is yours?

Bellabubble · 05/05/2021 16:45

@Smurf123 did he say anything about side effects at all? Out of everyone I know who has had it so far - they have either been absolutely fine - or suffered reallly badly with raging temps for a few days. My family so far have not had reactions - but it would be just my luck to get the high temp lol! Wasn’t sire if that would be ok or not given my past pregnancy history.

@marplemead I have been having weird twang-like feelings, and sometimes it feels like there’s an otter flapping and swirling around low down passed my belly button - I’m 19+3 - so wasn’t sure if they are movement but if they are - it’s sooooo weird!

Firevie · 05/05/2021 17:08

Oh ladies so sorry to hear about everyone’s horrid midwife experiences! On another note I have my pregnancy pillow now and I’m in love with it already lol

I have to say my hospital and the midwives there have been FANTASTIC and lovely throughout, it’s the community midwives I’ve found weird so far xx

Firevie · 05/05/2021 17:45

I’m not sure what the difference between community midwives and hospital ones are. I’m in London and all I have got are the midwives in the hospital

lamby12 · 05/05/2021 17:54

I think the difference between community midwives and hospital becomes more obvious when you choose to have your baby at a different hospital to your postcode. They don't talk to each other so it becomes clear you have your local appointments (usually in a Gp or health centre) with the community midwives and scans /booking in at the hospital your given birth at.

For me the two are very separate. I'm not sure how this works in London though, maybe different. And maybe some community midwives are based at hospitals depending where you live.

Smurf123 · 05/05/2021 18:08

@PumpkinEverything on Sunday

@Bellabubble he didn't really mention them just said it was very safe. My mum dad and brother have all had their 2 doses and been fine. Dm said she felt a bit coldy but other than that was fine. She said that they actually advised taking paracetamol straight after second jab and to take it for the rest of that day and all of following day.

Firevie · 05/05/2021 18:21

@lamby12 ah thx for explaining
My hospital is not in my area. We chose one that was slighter further away but had a ‘great reputation’
My GP practice is near where I live but even that’s rubbish as it’s always a diff GP
I’ve been living in London so many years but I’ve always been ‘surprised’ by the healthcare system. It’s v different in Austria which is where I’m from. So far luckily I haven’t needed much here but I would have thought maternity services would be better. Silly me! Xxx

Cafeaulait27 · 05/05/2021 18:28

@Firevie our trust seems to have a different team which work out of a community centre and in pregnant women’s homes, and then I’ve seen hospital midwives at the hospital when having blood tests and screenings and stuff. For some reason the hospital midwives are just so lovely, organised, knowledgeable and kind but the community midwives always seem a little rushed and can be a bit snappy as well as not being as knowledgeable. I guess maybe they have a lot of women to get around xxx

marplemead · 05/05/2021 19:14

@Bellabubble That definitely sounds like movement! It's so weird and lovely at the same time isn't it?

@Firevie That pillow looks comfy! I can't wait for my new one to arrive.

Pancakes7 · 05/05/2021 19:50

Sorry I've just tried to catch up.

I'm so sorry you've all had such bad experiences with midwives. I have the same midwife this time as with DS. When she saw my name she wanted to be my midwife again. So I thought that was really nice. She is really friendly and helpful. It's not easy to contact her though we have to go through a midwife Liason phone line. But when I do see/talk to her she's helpful. It may depend on the area and the midwife you get. I really hope you all have better experiences this time round.

@Bellabubble the swirling definitely sounds like movement! I’ve been feeling that from time to time too, like a goldfish swimming around inside.

Last night I had my hand on my belly watching tv and actually felt 3 kicks on my hand! It was SO crazy couldn’t believe it at 17 weeks but there’s literally nothing else it could be... it was like a little led or knee or whatever poking out of my belly she jabbing me. He must’ve been trying to get comfy! Xxx

Firevie · 06/05/2021 08:30

@Cafeaulait27 awww 😍 I’m so excited to feel the first movement

I’m 17 weeks today. When did everyone feel first movements with their first babies? Xxx

marplemead · 06/05/2021 08:37

@Firevie With DD, I had an anterior placenta, so didn't feel any movement until around 21 weeks, and very little even after that. I'm hoping I will feel this one a lot more. It's really reassuring when you start to feel them in there.

Cafeaulait27 · 06/05/2021 09:11

@Firevie @marplemead I too have an anterior placenta so I’m really amazed that I’m feeling anything! Think it just depends on babies position, when I’m feeling him I imagine this is when he’s lower than the placenta as it’s always quite low?

I’m sat at a desk all day working so I think the general non movement and boredom of my job means I’m more likely to pick up on any internal swirling movement!

I can go days without feeling anything and definitely wasn’t expecting to feel anything on the outside at this stage. Amazing xx

marplemead · 06/05/2021 11:07

@Cafeaulait27 That's really lovely! It's definitely the best part of being pregnant. The rest I could leave!

Garman · 06/05/2021 11:41

Had my hospital appointment this morning, was nearly sick with nerves after my previous experiences in there. My private midwife met me there thankfully, I met the consultant, had a quick scan which was great, although I could feel baby moving while I was waiting anyway so wasn't too worried about that. Baby was measuring correctly at 14+3 and rolling all over the place on the screen. My midwife checked back with me after the appointment and I'm back to see her at 20 weeks approx.

Consultant didn't clear me to go back to exercise which I'm absolutely gutted about, but I think that's more her personal opinion than anything to do with my haematoma based on how she said, so I will ask midwife and gp etc again soon for clarification.

lamby12 · 06/05/2021 13:33

Great news @Garman that's amazing you are feeling movement so early too! With my daughter I didn't until after 20 weeks.

I am still feeling very nervous about Mondays dating scan but also been a bit low because I've just been so poorly. I know lots of people have it worse and thankfully I haven't had anything like HG, which I've no idea how people cope with. It's just because I was sick for probably 6 weeks solid then that eased off about a week/week and a half ago and straight after I've had an awful bug from DD which has knocked me sideways. I'm just about out of it but now exhausted. As in that overwhelming exhaustion. I'm hoping I'll feel better soon because obviously I'm nearly in the second trimester.

I've been struggling because I have DD on my own a lot due to DHs work, all weekend every weekend plus the two weekdays I don't work. He's usually not back for bedtime so it's long solo days and she is a handful. I haven't felt up to going anywhere other than in the garden and little strolls up the lane behind us. She's crawling the walls and so is the dog. I just feel a bit fed because I'm normally a very active person and I feel a bit housebound!

I'm really hoping it improves over the next couple of weeks. My stomach is feeling big all of a sudden, and keep getting little twinges low down - did anyone else start stretching pains at this time? (12 weeks tomorrow). Still isn't making me any less nervous for Monday! I know I'll feel better when that's out of the way and I can tell people. I feel like I'm hiding to an extent?! Because I couldn't explain to anyone if we did meet up why I look and feel so shit!

Firevie · 07/05/2021 10:40

Happy Friday ladies! How’s everyone feeling? I got so fed up/worried about the itch that yesterday I raided my kitchen cupboard and found pure coconut oil and applied that to my tummy. OMG! Best thing ever ladies! Yesterday was probably the most comfy day itchiness-wise!
Other than that nothing much to report other than I have started drinking a spinach and fruit smoothie every morning and have toast and eggs as my 2nd breakfast as I’m trying to eat a bit more. Less than a week to go until I see my baby and hear his heartbeat again and I cannot wait ❤️ When are the next scans in our group other than mine? I think @Pancakes7 you have a scan next Thursday too? Xxx

Pancakes7 · 07/05/2021 10:51

@Firevie Yes I've got a scan on Thursday 13th May too. It's our gender scan although I already know now lol. But I'm excited to see baby boy again. Planning to book another for when I'm 24 weeks. Then hopefully I'll get nhs growth scans from 28 weeks.

@Firevie Your breakfast sounds good. I'm finding it really hard to eat any breakfast atm. Lunch and dinner are easier. I'm trying to make sure I'm eating enough fruit. I'm drinking actimel each morning still. My favourite things atm are potato salad and pickled onion monster munch.

I had my midwife appointment yesterday and heard baby boys heartbeat with was amazing 💙❤️ I recorded it on my phone too.
I've booked my whooping cough jab for next week and have a gp call set up to get a physio referral for my pgp.

marplemead · 07/05/2021 12:25

@Garman How lovely to be feeling movement so early! And I'm sorry about the exercise. Does that include yoga? Pregnancy yoga can be very low impact.

@lamby12 That sounds really tough. Things do generally improve in the 2nd trimester for most people, so hopefully it does for you. Stretching pains are normal, and a sign that your body is doing what it needs to do to accommodate baby. Not long until Monday 🤞🏼

@Firevie I caved and booked a private gender roles scan for Wednesday 🙈 DH was keen and we can take DD along, so should be a lovely experience.

@Pancakes7 I've just had a massive bowl of potato salad - love it too! You've reminded me that I need to call my GP to book the whooping cough jab. I know we can have it up to 32 weeks, but I'd rather get it out of the way.

Pancakes7 · 07/05/2021 12:27

@marplemead Lovely to feel movements! I felt a little prod from baby last night for the first time ❤️

@marplemead yay to the gender scan! How far along are you?
@Pancakes7 yay to your little baby boys heartbeat and movement. I’m so jealous - can’t wait to feel my baby boys movement. How far along are you now?
I’m 17weeks 1 day xxx
