@lamby12 sorry to hear you've had some bleeding hopefully it's eased off and all is OK.
I had some light bleeding around 8 weeks in this pregnancy but a scan showed no reason for any bleeding and baby was fine so fingers crossed your the same.

I've just had my anomaly scan and so relieved everything is looking good. It looks like we are having a little girl 💕 which is funny as ds age 3 has been saying for weeks baby is a girl.
So should be 21weeks 4 days today and measurements were all coming in between 21 weeks 0 and 21 weeks 4 so they are happy with that. I was surprised when he said they are allowed 10 days either side at this stage which seems a lot to me!
Good luck to anyone with scans this week, hope everyone is doing ok

Useful nhs Pregnancy emails.

I just thought I’d share this link to sign up for these really useful Start 4 Life Nhs pregnancy emails. They send you one each week, about what’s happening that week with you and baby.

@Smurf123 aww amazing, must be such a relief! Congratulations on your little girl 💕 I am still waiting for my combined screening results to come through. Got my letter at the weekend for my anomaly scan though, it'll be when I am 21 weeks.

Firevie · 29/03/2021 11:09

@Smurf123 congrats - amazing news! You must be so relieved and excited. Can’t wait to be further along too. I have a scan and harmony test tmr. XX

lamby12 · 29/03/2021 11:35

Great news on some positive scans! Lovely to see :)

Thanks ladies who replied about my bleeding. It seems to have fully stopped now, I had brown spotting on a panty liner all weekend and when wiping but fingers crossed clear so far today.

I called the docs this morning I suppose just for reassurance and got less than that... I had a triage call and he passed me on for a phone appointment later, the doctor who did the triage said that scan shouldn't usually cause bleeding and that isn't a likely reason, and that they might want to see me later today but I needed have another phone appointment first. This has set me worrying - I'm not sure what they could do by seeing me because I won't be consenting to an internal examination or anything at this stage when bleeding has stopped. It's also got me worrying that I got my scan report emailed over this morning and measurements indicate 5+5 and I was 6+1 on the scan date. I'm sure about the dates because we only DTD once and I got a positive OPK 3 days later (we didn't DTD then because OH was poorly) and I have accounted for ovulating the day after OPK or the next. Is it worrying to be 2 days behind measurements at this stage? Or is everything too small to be sure? We're talking 1mm difference of course!

I have made an appointment for another private scan on 11th April so 8+2, I feel I need that reassurance after this bleed and it's only a couple of weeks to hold out to.

Hoping someone can reassure me about the measurements and doctors reaction!

JRH4622 · 29/03/2021 11:36

@Smurf123 Congrats on your lovely scan results...10 days either side is a lot though right! I bet your DS is excited to have a little sister!!
I wish I was further along too...@Pancakes7 not too long now for us to wait! Genuinely nearly caved in and got a early scan booked in but then freaked out and didn't do it LOL
@Firevie good luck with your scan and test tomorrow! xx

MrsTD88 · 29/03/2021 11:45

@lamby12 sorry to hear the doctor's have made you feel worse about things. In my experience they don't really know what they are talking about when it comes to the nitty gritty of pregnancy. I just bypass them now and go straight to EPU or midwife depending on the issue. Re your scan dates I wouldn't worry about that at all as there is leeway of about 5 days either side before around 10 weeks. Every scan I have had so far has provided me with a different due date, the same happened in pregnancy with my daughter and she is almost 5 now!

lamby12 · 29/03/2021 11:52

Thank you @MrsTD88 I think that too about the doctors. I have read online (including on NHS) that the internal scans can cause bleeding sometimes, and it seems logical. I also cannot think of any reason or benefit for the doctor to bring me into the GPs today, when the bleeding has stopped. I was expecting maybe a referral to EPU makes more sense - I can't ring them direct yet as I haven't been referred and they are strict on that at ours.

The scan I had on Friday was private. And yes hopefully if the scanner didn't make any comment on it it's nothing to worry about.

I just suddenly feel so so worried about this ending after the bleed at the weekend. Now that I have seen a heartbeat and have a little picture it's a real thing (I know it already was but I was convincing myself not to 'accept' the pregnancy was real until then in case it ended before) now it feels like more to lose, I know that makes little sense!

X

Pancakes7 · 29/03/2021 12:33

@lamby12 I'm so sorry the GP has worried you more. It's a shame you can't speak directly with the midwife who may know more. I guess it's good that they want to be careful and check you out but if you're not comfortable with it make sure you say so. It was only brown spotting that's old blood and it's stopped now so I'm sure it was caused by the scan or something else irritating your cervix.

Try and relax as much as you can. See what the GP says and don't do anything you're not comfortable with.❤️

@JRH4622 haha I so wanted to book another scan. But DH said no lol. At least it's only two weeks tomorrow. DS has his first settling in session tomorrow at the nursery. I think this is going to keep me busy and then work next week. I've been so ill as well I haven't even had time to think about the scan. I'm really hoping it stops by the time I start work. I can't imagine feeling it's awful having to work.

OP posts:
JRH4622 · 29/03/2021 12:46

@Pancakes7 thats sounds like it will keep you busy! Hope you DS' nursery settling in goes well, its miserable for them with this lockdown!
I'm busy but I have no concentration, took me an hour and beans on toast to get my head in work this morning...thankfully I work from home but its my own business so I cant slack off! I often need a sleep at lunch to get me through the days! LOL
I have an early scan in the bank if I want one but I'm holding strong til dating scan...I feel rubbish which is reassuring! (wish I could give you my early one that I won't have!)

MrsTD88 · 29/03/2021 13:32

@lamby12 it makes total sense to me and I'm sure it will to others on here too. Hopefully they will refer you to EPU.

lamby12 · 29/03/2021 13:41

Thanks @MrsTD88 and @Pancakes7 yes I really don't understand why I need a physical appointment unless it's just a tick box before EPU referral. I won't be having an examination though and I don't think that's unreasonable given I've stopped bleeding and examinations are not the done thing in early pregnancy I don't think!

I'm also feeling twitchy about going to the surgery COVID wise - I've not been worried about COVID much up to now but now I'm pregnant I'm more aware. And face masks are making me feel sick!

This is also my first day back working (at home) so stressful!

Strawberry08 · 29/03/2021 15:57

Hi everyone! Just thought I would check in and see how you are all getting on. I have been quiet as I have been trying to forget about it all to keep the anxiety at bay!!
I am 10+1 today. I keep feeling like its going so slowly but then have to keep reminding myself how far we have all come since the thread was started. I found out at 3+5 which is nearly 7 weeks ago now so doing well to have got this far!!

@lamby12 try not to panic about the bleed. Sometimes if you have a bit of cervix irritation (which is normal) and then the probe goes in, it can upset the bleeding. Definitely worth getting a reassurance scan but fingers crossed it will all be fine!

lamby12 · 29/03/2021 16:21

Thank you @Strawberry08 sorry you are feeling anxious but congrats at getting to 10 weeks, feeling like that's soo far away for me at 6 weeks here but it's not really is it! Time is going so slow isn't it!

So after seeing the doctor they want to scan me on Wednesday morning this week at EPU. I suppose that's good and good that I'll be under EPU then which is always handy. I'll be 6+5. Is it ok for me to go but say I don't want an internal scan? I know that means I might not get full reassurance but hopefully they can understand I don't want the stress of another potential bleed caused by an internal scan. I'm hoping they will see everything externally since they did at the private scan (they only did internal for 'better pictures' and I'm wishing they didn't now).
Do you think they'll be ok for me to do that?

Bellabubble · 29/03/2021 16:50

@lamby12 when I had my dating scan they put me back by 3 days too (we are the same as you - dtd once the day after my positive opk, then my bbt temp shot up the day after we dtd so pretty much must have conceived the day we dtd!) but the lady said it’s because the EED is an estimate and they literally date bt how long the baby is, and like all of us, we can vary in size :)

imisscoffee · 29/03/2021 17:34

@lamby12 you can always refuse internal scans, I would be the same in your position. Glad EPU are seeing you and you're on their books.

HereWeGoooo · 29/03/2021 17:48

@lamby12 I think they'll only do an internal scan if they really can't see anything using external scan. This happened to me, but I was already pretty certain I'd miscarried /passed out the tissue and that's why they couldn't find anything. So if you haven't passed anything out, they should hopefully be able to see the baby in your womb using external scan. If not, you'll have to make a decision. If you choose not to do internal, you'll probably just be sent away with no real concrete answers other than to wait longer and book a private scan a bit later on in pregnancy? Xx

HereWeGoooo · 29/03/2021 17:52

Hey @Strawberry08 we are all just about hanging on in there!! Glad you are too! Longest 12 weeks ever. But most of us are all still here which is positive. I'm feeling nearly normal again so hope everything is ok in there. Got my 12 week scan a week on Thurs. X

Pancakes7 · 29/03/2021 19:20

@Strawberry08 We've done so well after we both found out so early and are now 10 weeks! My dating scan is 2 weeks tomorrow, on 13th April. When is your dating scan? X

OP posts:
Strawberry08 · 29/03/2021 19:51

@lamby12 I think that HereWeGoooo summed it up perfectly. You can of course refuse an internal, but you may not be able to tell externally what’s going on so then you will need to make a call on internal. The internal scan won’t cause any damage but I know it will cause anxiety if it causes a bleed. I’m sure everything’s okay, my symptoms got a bit better a few days ago and they are meant to get better by about 12 weeks so all normal! Exciting about the scan!! If will be the biggest sigh of relief.

@HereWeGoooo ah I know it’s so lovely lots of us are all still here. I always felt very positive that good things were to come from the group.

@Pancakes7 ahh I know It’s so nice we are nearly at the 12 week point!! Still very anxious though. My nhs dating scan is on the 15th and would make me 12+4 but being the impatient person I am, I booked a private scan for the Sunday 11th when il be 12 weeks on the dot as we have a week off work the following week so can make the rounds to tell family that week all going well so didn’t want to wait for the scan on Thursday!!

JRH4622 · 30/03/2021 07:48

@Strawberry08 Nice to hear you are doing well even if time has stood still! I have my dating scan on the 16th...so pleased we are all in this together...feel like I'm chasing @Pancakes7 LOL being a couple of days ahead of me!
I spoke with my midwife yesterday and she was SOOO lovely (my last one was rubbish, didn't even call me after my MC!) she is going to come to any appointment that my partner isn't allowed to come to so I'm not alone! She gave me the green light to eat crisps if that is all that helps with nausea and reassured me that even though I feel like I have a belly like I'm 6months that its normal!
Does anyone else feel big even though we are still early?
Not sure if I'm just so bloated from the Cyclogest or too many crisps as my lovely DH thinks! Ive always been petite with tiny boobs but I've grown 2 cup sizes and even my rib cage has thickened!! Maybe its twins...what a result that would be! Family complete in one go! anyway sorry for my morning ramble!!

lamby12 · 30/03/2021 08:34

Thank you ladies, I really hope the scan tomorrow will be a reassurance and I've decided I won't have internal.

After having no bleeding at all yesterday I've then started with a bit of spotting again this morning so now I'm feeling really worried. X

lamby12 · 30/03/2021 09:10

Though I'm am feeling really really sick all day every day since Saturday which I'm hoping is a good thing (symptom wise) literally putting anything in my mouth feels awful!
