Hello ladies, sorry to those of you still feeling unwell. Hopefully not long til you're out the woods.

Can I ask you all about your urine colour? I find mine is quite dark in colour, even later in the day and despite trying to keep hydrated throughout the day. Is this a normal pregnancy thing?

lamby12 · 28/03/2021 07:37

Yes @Garman I was like that yesterday. I had no more fresh bleeding just brown smears and I've woke up and been for a week to no blood, so I have everything crossed that that's it and it was a small bleed brought on by the scan rather than the start of something. I think I've managed to calm myself down, I keep reminded myself we've seen the heartbeat so the chance of miscarriage is less than 5%, and what's the odds of me being in that less than 5% and the 1% of people who have recurrent mc. Possible obviously, but hopefully unlikely. That's helping me a bit. I've woke up feeling sick this morning so hopefully that's good! Hmm

I'm going to report to the gp tomorrow but if I have no more bleeding I won't push for a scan until 8 weeks because I'm not having internal again now. Even if it did no harm the stress of a possible bleed afterwards is too much. The fact that they could see a heart beat on the external scan would then worry me if I had one in the next week or so and they couldn't.. would it just be positioning, luck of the draw, or would it mean the heart beat had gone!? So I'm going to try and hold out until 8 weeks for the next scan provided that I have no more bleeding.

@PumpkinEverything I do that too in breaking the days up and it does really help. It will be here in no time, but maybe try and plan a few things for Tuesday, even reading a book or tv programme so you're not obsessing too much. I try and leave my phone out of reach for a few hours so I'm not googling like crazy.

@HereWeGoooo yes my urine has been like that too. I've upped my water by at least 50% and I'm still thirsty all the time and often my wee isn't looking like I'm hydrated. I take it as a sign to up it more! I usually always have a glass of water before bed and drink half of it and that's that. I've been drinking the full glass (almost pint size), going to get another one and drinking that, fetching a full one in the middle of the nights when I wake thirsty and needing one first thing!

imisscoffee · 28/03/2021 07:59

Thinking of you @lamby12

Hope everyone is doing ok, I'm rubbish at keeping up. Has anyone bought anything yet? We went to Sainsbury's and ended up buying a little Elmer dress. Which is a bit mad because I'm 11 weeks and only think I'm having a girl based on my cravings. We figured if it's a boy, my niece can have it. I've never been one of those people who think it jinxes things buying things early, and by this point in all my pregnancies I'd started buying the odd thing. It feels like I'm starting to let myself believe this is real now.

Garman · 28/03/2021 08:28

I'd say there's literally nothing for us to buy only tiny nappies a few weeks before it's due, if this gets that far!

MrsTD88 · 28/03/2021 08:30

@HereWeGoooo I can't seem to drink enough to keep fully hydrated. Midwife said it is very common and to just drink as much as possible.

@lamby12 I think that's very wise. I had a scan at 8 weeks at EPU, it was external and we saw the heartbeat just fine. Hopefully no more bleeding now and you can relax a little.

@imisscoffee I am with you there, bought one little babygrow and even though I say I won't buy any more for a little while I know I will and I know my in-laws will pick up a little thing for baby for Easter.

On another note, I am 14 weeks tomorrow and I swear I can feel movement. Any second, third time etc mums feel movement this early second time round? I didn't feel movement with my daughter until around 20 weeks.

imisscoffee · 28/03/2021 08:40

@MrsTD88 how exciting! I felt movement at 14 weeks with my third pregnancy, it started as flutters around 13 weeks and by 14 was definitely movement. I remember sitting in the car doing my 2hr GTT wait at 13 weeks and feeling him move for the first time. It stopped once my waters went as there was no space for him to move, which confirms to me that's what it was.

Greenrubber · 28/03/2021 08:40

@mrsTD88

I'm sure I have had a few flutters for a couple of weeks and I'm 15 +4 at the moment

HereWeGoooo · 28/03/2021 09:12

I'm too scared to buy anything at all right now. It's annoying when I see something necessary and in good condition at a decent price on Facebook market. Just don't want to jinx anything or get too ahead. Last pregnancy I bought the What to Expect when you're Expecting book before MC and haven't allowed myself to read that yet this time. Only read the NHS pamphlet 30 mins before my booking appointment this time. So if all keeps going well, there's going to be a mad dash at the finish line to get prepared for a baby I think !!

MrsTD88 · 28/03/2021 09:27

@imisscoffee @greenrubber I've been feeling it on and off for a few days and thought I was imagining it at first. You've both made me realise I'm not imagining it.

@imisscoffee are you having a GTT this time around? They have booked me in for one when I am 28 weeks and then I will have a growth scan that afternoon too. Going to be hanging around the hospital all day! I hope it's a nice day as they have lovely gardens so I can sit with a book for a few hours.

@HereWeGoooo it is such a personal choice when to buy things. I think because we already have all the big stuff from before it doesn't seem such a big thing to buy little bits if that makes sense. With my daughter I was very superstitious and didn't even keep the pram in the house, I kept it up at my gran's but this time round I'm throwing caution to the wind.

HereWeGoooo · 28/03/2021 09:32

@MrsTD88 That makes sense, and you'll know exactly the bits and pieces you need. This is my first kid and I don't have a clue! So will be looking for help on here nearer the end of pregnancy with an essentials only mad dash shopping list hahahha!! X

MrsTD88 · 28/03/2021 09:38

@HereWeGooo haha we are all here to help when you are ready to buy things. The one thing I found an absolute life saver was our baby swing, it was great for when I went for a shower and she would just swing away in there on the bathroom floor quite happily. We've kept ours as it looks like new so just need to check it still works.

HereWeGoooo · 28/03/2021 09:53

@MrsTD88 will start a wee KeepNote list! Thank you!

vitaminb33 · 28/03/2021 10:00

Scan over, felt very stressed and the stress didn't really disappear even though the scan went well. Measuring ahead of where I thought at 9 weeks 1 day (I thought I was 8 weeks) and heartbeat good, baby moving around.

They spotted a subchorionic hematoma, and while they told me everything was fine (and gave me a leaflet saying everything was fine) I've now completely fixated on this. I didn't sleep much last night so I'm probably just tired but feeling a bit overwhelmed

Greenrubber · 28/03/2021 10:15

@vitaminb33

Is the haematoma something to worry about? I'm glad the baby is all good

MrsTD88 · 28/03/2021 10:20

@vitaminb33 what a lovely scan and how nice to find out you are further along. I have seen a few ladies on our Facebook group with haematoma and thankfully by the time they had their 12 week scans they seem to have settled.

vitaminb33 · 28/03/2021 10:35

@Greenrubber I'm not entirely sure! I've immediately read around 10 research papers on it but the results seem inconclusive. There's a general consensus it is associated with a higher risk of bad outcomes, although I found a well-designed study which suggests it isn't. I think it's just a next thing for me to focus on worrying about.

@MrsTD88 yes thank you that was good news, and thanks it does help to know it's resolved for others! I'm not sure whether to book another scan or wait for my NHS one now.

Greenrubber · 28/03/2021 10:40

@vitaminb33

If they didn't seem worried about it hopefully it's nothing to worry about! But it would of been nice for them to explain the risks wouldn't it and maybe be able to reassure you

Garman · 28/03/2021 10:42

@vitaminb33 that's what I have, a subchorionic haemotoma. If they didn't prescribe medication or schedule any follow up appts for it or if you haven't been having much bleeding then it really probably is fine, I have all of the above and they weren't overly concerned at all because the baby was growing and measuring fine, my haematoma was very large apparently.

vitaminb33 · 28/03/2021 12:22

@Garman thank you that's really good to know! Reassuring to have someone in this group have one too. I think mine was fairly large although they were a little unclear on it, I haven't had any bleeding since the tiny bit when I was 4 weeks or so. I guess I have a good explanation if I do start bleeding but I know I'll panic anyway 🤷‍♀️

@Greenrubber yeah it would've been nice to get a little more information!

Garman · 28/03/2021 12:32

@vitaminb33 apparently a lot of women only do find out about them at scans as they just stay there doing nothing. I had a gush at 6 weeks and thought it was the beginning of another miscarriage, then it stopped and since then I've had almost daily bleeding/spotting, I'm 9 weeks now. The constant bleeding hopefully means that by the 10 week scan it will have reduced even more.

They told me in 80% of cases these have no effect on a pregnancy, in 20% of cases they have some impact but only severe in about 5% of those cases. They told me to only contact them if I had another large gush or any pain.

imisscoffee · 28/03/2021 15:09

@vitaminb33 cute scan photo! As others have said, a haematoma can can issues, but usually they go away by themselves either by being reabsorbed or through another bleed. Keep hydrated, and apparently pomegranate juice and kale can help your body to reabsorb them, although I don't know if there's any science behind that. Have they put you on pelvic rest?

@MrsTD88 I hope the sun shines for you, that'll be a long day! I haven't got one booked yet but I'm asking for an appointment when I go for my scan next week. I had one at 13 weeks last time and the result came back high, so I'd like to keep an eye on it this time around. They gave me the option to go home between blood tests, but the hospital is a 30 min drive each way so I just read/napped in my car instead.

HereWeGoooo · 28/03/2021 19:10

This is going to sound weird but are any of you associating objects/actions with feeling sick?! Despite me feeling a lot better now, when I use this water bottle I was using when feeling ill earlier in the pregnancy, it makes me feel sick again. Also when I click onto this forum it reminds me of logging on before whilst feeling sick and anxious and I get the same feelings?! Or am I a nutter?!

vitaminb33 · 28/03/2021 20:38

@Garman thank you 🙏 Your doctor's way of describing it is also pretty reassuring. I managed to get some sleep and am feeling more positive about it. Fingers crossed yours will be improved next week!

@imisscoffee thanks! No they didn't suggest anything but it was a private scan so I'm not sure if they would - I'm thinking I'll ask my midwife when she calls to book me in next week

@HereWeGoooo not crazy I definitely do this sometimes! Pregnancy seems to make it worse too

Pancakes7 · 29/03/2021 07:41

Hiya, Sorry been feeling really unwell again.

@vitaminb33 Lovely scan. I'm glad it was good news. I hope the haematoma reabsorbs soon for you. ❤️

@lamby12 Great news you haven't had any more bleeding. It does sound like it was a small bleed from the scan then. Good idea to wait till 8 weeks. How many weeks are you now?

MrsTD88 · 29/03/2021 09:49

@imisscoffee thank you! Hopefully all will be fine this time around for you. Yeah I don't think I'll go home either, I don't see much point and then back for the scan in the afternoon.

@HereWeGoooo my daughter running about the house makes me feel nauseous, I don't know if it is the movement or the noise but it triggers me.

@Pancakes7 sorry t see you are still feeling unwell. I hope you feel better as the day goes on.
