Great news @marplemead 😊

lamby12 · 25/03/2021 14:12

That's great news @marplemead

Eeek feeling nervous now tomorrow morning for my scan, will be exactly 6 weeks. Worrying I made it too early now but I can't wait any longer and I'm returning to work next week after furlough so I feel like I need some certainty before I go back. Not sure why... I know it makes no difference unless anything actually happens!

I know I might not get the reassurance tomorrow with it being so early, but if it were clearly bad news I'd rather know as early as poss. Keep reminding myself that stuff can go wrong at any point so if it's good tomorrow I can at least accept I'm pregnant and maybe smile a little?! Really hoping. And if it is good news this defiantly won't be the only scan I have before 12 weeks anyway.

Hope everyone's feeling ok. X

HereWeGoooo · 25/03/2021 14:26

@lamby12 You may already be aware, but incase it hadn't crossed your mind, they may do an internal examination on you since you're quite early on. Just to prepare you! Best of luck tomorrow. x

Garman · 25/03/2021 14:50

@HereWeGoooo do you mean internal scan, rather than internal examination?

HereWeGoooo · 25/03/2021 15:01

@Garman @lamby12
I do!

JRH4622 · 25/03/2021 15:10

@lamby12 Good luck for tomorrow! You are doing the right thing for you and I'm sure you will get the reassurance that you need! xx

lamby12 · 25/03/2021 15:32

Thanks @HereWeGoooo yes they will do internal, I'm well used to them with all the investigations I've had so it doesn't bother me these days in fact I rang to check that they do internal (with it being private) because I want that if needed to get clarity.

Desperate times when you're looking forward to an internal ultrasound....!

X

Garman · 25/03/2021 15:43

@lamby12 I said that to the sonographer the last day at mine, I never thought I'd be happy to hear it's an internal scan and not have to cope with an overly full bladder any longer!

Cafeaulait27 · 25/03/2021 17:27

@marplemead ah that makes sense - must be due to pre eclampsia risk maybe? That’s great that you’ll get additional scans too xx

marplemead · 25/03/2021 17:38

@lamby12 Good luck for your scan tomorrow! I don't think it's too early to see what's happening in there, and to get some reassurance.

@Cafeaulait27 possibly! I'm just grateful for the extra scans. It's amazing that I managed to go without any scans after 20wks with DD.

@MrsTDDD Aww, how do you think your DD will react to the news?

Smurf123 · 25/03/2021 18:11

I've just had my scan cancelled on Monday.. And burst into floods of tears. It's no one's fault id been paying privately to go to the same consultant who delivered my ds due to my history and due to my anxiety about it all. Unfortunately due to family illness she's had to stop working with immediate effect. I feel so sorry for her and hope everything works out OK.
It was due to be my anomaly scan and I'll already be 21+4 .. Fingers crossed all is OK. I've been a nervous wreck about it for the past week already as I still haven't felt much movement etc.
I have no idea when my scan will be now.

Smurf123 · 25/03/2021 18:14

I've just realised I missed a no caller id number earlier today too.. I thought nothing of it at the time but what if it was them😫

vitaminb33 · 25/03/2021 18:16

Oh no I'm so sorry @Smurf123 that is really upsetting and must be disconcerting, is there anyone you could speak to about ensuring you get a scan date soon or is it just a case of waiting?

marplemead · 25/03/2021 18:20

Oh no @Smurf123, I'm so sorry. It must be so hard losing the consistency of care you are paying for. 🤞🏼you get a new scan date soon, and there isn't a long wait. I'm sure whoever takes over will be just as capable.
I didn't feel any movement with DD until quite a bit after the anamoly scan. It's so worrying, but lots of women don't until a bit later on.
Big hugs ❤️

marplemead · 25/03/2021 18:23

@Smurf123, try not to worry, they would have left a message if it was important. Do you have a number to call to chase up the scan?

Smurf123 · 25/03/2021 18:41

Thank you both.. Ive emailed the secretary back to ask and she just replied saying that the consultant did write a letter to the hospital saying I need my 20 week scan asap. So I think it's just a wait and see at this point.
Tbh I wasn't going to go private until I had bleeding early on in this pregnancy and due to covid and staff shortages they weren't able to get me in to the epu for 3 weeks and my booking scan had been delayed to 14 weeks already. I like the hospital and they were fantastic when ds was taken to nicu etc.
I was told I would be consultant led back when I was referred to hospital by gp after finding out I was pregnant so hopefully that will still happen.
I just worry a lot and the consultant really was fantastic and so reassuring and i knew she would know what to look for after ds difficulties at the end of pregnancy and birth.

Smurf123 · 25/03/2021 18:43

@marplemead thank you that's reassuring to hear. I have thought a couple of times I might be feeling something but it's not alot nor consistent and not even sure if it is movement. I do know I have an anterior placenta.

marplemead · 25/03/2021 19:27

@Smurf123 sounds like the hospital are on the case.
I'm pretty sure I had an anterior placenta when I was pregnant with DD, and movements were always quite subtle rather than what they look like on TV. I did often have to lie down and concentrate on counting the kicks, and it was always fine. I just didn't notice them if I was busy or doing something else. I'm sorry, that's probably not very reassuring, but hopefully an idea of what to expect with an anterior placenta.

Pancakes7 · 25/03/2021 20:50

Hiya, Sorry I've been mia. I've been really ill the last few days. Finally feel a bit better. Still nauseous but functioning more. Great news on your good scan @marplemead . I'm sorry to hear about your scan being cancelled @Smurf123 . I hope you get the date for your 20 week scan soon.

@lamby12 Good luck for tomorrow ❤️ Remember it's early days but I'm sure you'll see good news.

@marplemead My friends having extra growth scans because he DS was born on the 10th centile. Perhaps that's why you are because your previous baby was small. Nice to have extra scans to see baby 💗

Garman · 25/03/2021 21:01

@Pancakes7 sounds like we had a similar few days, I've been so sick, finally feeling a bit better today too. Trying to learn what works for minimising my nausea! Turns out it's to just eat very little 🙄

Pancakes7 · 25/03/2021 21:03

@Garman I've been living off toast with butter... I'm in week 9 and I know that's supposed to be the worst. Hopefully next week is better.

OP posts:
Garman · 25/03/2021 21:09

I can't stomach any carbs, just been eating crunchy veg and roast chicken for the last few days, no bad thing for me tbh, usually I have too many carbs 😂 Have already broken out the Rennies, can't believe it. Is week 9 supposed to be the worst? Never heard that.

marplemead · 25/03/2021 21:12

@Pancakes7 Sorry you've been feeling unwell, and glad sickness has eased a bit ❤️ It's so hard when you can't function enough to do small, everyday things. It was struggle to even unload/reload the dishwasher today!
And yes, you're right, of course - DD was below the 10th centile when she was born, so the growth scans make sense. I am so focused on the scan at my consultant appointments that I always forget to ask important questions like 'Why are you prescribing me this?' Blush

Pancakes7 · 25/03/2021 21:18

@Garman I've heard it's when hormones peak. Nhs link explains better than I can. But everyone varies with when they feel ill.

@marplemead Thanks. Yeah it's been so hard looking after DS feeling this rough. He had a lot more screen time recently lol. Luckily my Mum was over the last 2 days to help. DH did bath & bed for 2 nights. I hope you're feeling better soon x

MrsTD88 · 25/03/2021 22:15

@marplemead she is so happy, she keeps kissing my tummy 😍

@Smurf123 oh no I really hope you get news of a new scan date soon.

@Pancakes7 @Garman sorry to hear you have both been feeling rough.

@lamby12 Good luck for tomorrow X
