Welcome @KG1145 and congratulations!

@imisscoffee we ordered my daughter a book from Wonderbly which arrived yesterday. It is called "A New Sibling For @@@" and you can personalise the cover etc. It can also be "Brother" or "Sister" if you know the gender. She loves books so feel it would appeal to her. I've also ordered her a bath box from my friend who does Body Shop and it has all her favourite bath bombs and blends etc in it. I have hidden it away until after the dating scan and will give her those as a gift from baby. Will probably take a photo of her with those and the scan picture to then send to family. It is such a personal thing and I love seeing everyone's own approach to it.

MrsTD88 · 19/03/2021 08:10

@PumpkinEverything it is awful you have to worry about something like that. You should be able to name your child whatever you want without fear ❤

Pancakes7 · 19/03/2021 09:34

@MrsTD88 I actually just saw an announcement with A new brother for.... book. Lovely idea. I might wait till 16 weeks when we know the gender and order one. What a lovely idea giving gifts to your daughter to tell her the news.

@PumpkinEverything I'm sorry you have to worry about the names like that. You should be able to choose any name ❤️

Eek I just found out I'm starting back at work on Wednesday 7th April!! After nearly 2 years! 🙈 Feeling a bit anxious about telling them I'm pregnant.

@Pancakes7 you will smash it, I think everyone is nervous about the new normal so you won't be on your own!
@PumpkinEverything that sucks, use the name and cut all contact with the person LOL
One of the names on my list is the same as my DH friend's son....meh I don't see him and I don't care! I like the name!

Firevie · 19/03/2021 13:01

Happy Friday ladies! How are we feeling? It’s Friday so cheat day for me so treated myself to a meatball sub and Doritos lol
I really need to start cutting down on chocolate- paranoid about that glucose test! So will try and cut down to chocolate couple of times a week and hopefully reduce it gradually. I’m eating strawberries blueberries cherries and fruits instead
I got the next week off which is the first time since last august and I’m so excited. I’m working on quite a few side hustles so will finally get some time for that xxx

JRH4622 · 19/03/2021 13:37

@Firevie Happy Friday! I just had a big bowl of pasta and a nap for lunch!
Eek when do we get a glucose test? LOL I'm not a big fan of chocolate but carbs are my friend at the minute...salt and vinegar crisps help my nausea!

Firevie · 19/03/2021 13:41

@JRH4622 yummy pasta ! I eat chocolate, carbs and crisps lol
Not sure when the glucose test is but got myself paranoid so will try and cut down xx

JRH4622 · 19/03/2021 14:31

@Firevie I am googling that right now lol
My sister had gestational diabetes in her pregnancy so I've always been strict with sugar...My DH thinks I'm militant but hey if you know that is something that you might have a higher risk of then you try and prevent it!
I have the worst craving for fish and chips (chip shop style)...I'm vegan and hate fish but I cant get it out of my head! Crazy baby cravings!

MrsTD88 · 19/03/2021 16:30

Pancakes7 are you looking forward to going back?

MrsTD88 · 19/03/2021 16:35

@Firevie I never had the glucose last time round just the check for protein in my urine every time which was always fine. I am a lot heavier now than I was back then so this is a worry for me... I think I will have to have the glucose test. Do you know what the criteria is?

imisscoffee · 19/03/2021 16:36

@MrsTD88 that sounds so lovely!

I've got my glucose tolerance test booked for 12 weeks, but that's because of my BMI and when I had my last GTT, I was borderline apparently. I never actually got the results of it until Frank's post mortem appointment as I had the GTT the same day I had my biggest bleed. I'm worried I'll end up with gestational diabetes this time around, but all I crave is sweet stuff. DH was eating jelly tots last night and I couldn't stop stealing them, I usually really dislike jelly sweets.

imisscoffee · 19/03/2021 16:37

Also, I think normally you don't get offered the GTT until much later on, after 20 weeks at least unless there's a cause for concern.

JRH4622 · 19/03/2021 16:50

@imisscoffee so sorry to hear that! I had a GTT early last two times because of the family history of gestational diabetes but they never had concerns so not sure if that will happen again. Fingers crossed that you can fend it off, sweet things are so tempting...although I just crave chips and crisps mainly!

Pancakes7 · 19/03/2021 17:17

@Firevie & @JRH4622 the glucose test is only offered if you're at risk of gestational diabetes. It's not generally offered to everybody. I didn't have it last time. I might be offered it this time as I'm bigger than I was last time.

OP posts:
Firevie · 19/03/2021 17:30

@Pancakes7 ahh ok I didn’t know that. I’d feel better having it checked given the amount of sweet stuff I consume. May ask my private doctor for one xxx

JRH4622 · 19/03/2021 17:44

@Pancakes7 its based on BMI or family history isn't it..I think?
@Firevie if you are worried your NHS midwife might do one for you!

Firevie · 19/03/2021 17:52

Thanks I might ask. Are you guys having issues with what’s app and Instagram? Looks like they are down?! Xx

Pancakes7 · 19/03/2021 18:20

@Firevie Yes I was having WhatsApp issues but just started working

OP posts:
Pancakes7 · 19/03/2021 18:21

@JRH4622 Yes exactly right.

OP posts:
Pancakes7 · 19/03/2021 18:21

@MrsTD88 i'm definitely not looking forward to it as I'm not having this time is my son. But I'm okay with it.

OP posts:
Firevie · 19/03/2021 18:55

Same here ...all back up and running again xx

Pancakes7 · 19/03/2021 19:46

OMG I just looked up the Harmony test as I would love to know the gender. It's £450!!! I'm in shock lol. I thought it was £100 max.

OP posts:
Greenrubber · 19/03/2021 19:50

@Pancakes7
You can get a gender scan a bit later I think from 16 weeks? If it's just the gender you are wanting to know

Pancakes7 · 19/03/2021 19:52

@Greenrubber Thanks. Yeah I know that. We are planning on having a private scan at 16 weeks.
