@PumpkinEverything yeah I hope it's good news, I'm going to keep doing the digis and hope for the best, keeping my fingers crossed we see that 3+ tomorrow xx

vitaminb33 · 16/03/2021 14:32

Hi @PrettyPinkPansies! I also recently stressed myself out about getting the 3+ result but I spent some time looking into it and because women's HCG levels vary so much it can take longer for quite a lot of women to get a 3+ result because the threshold is pretty high (it's why if you look at the instructions the 2-3 week estimate is the least accurate result of all of them). I know how important it was to me though even though I knew it wasn't a good indicator 🤷‍♀️

I know it's really hard but maybe wait at least a few days before trying again?

PrettyPinkPansies · 16/03/2021 14:51

@vitaminb33 thank you for your message, how long did it take for you to get the 3+? X

HereWeGoooo · 16/03/2021 15:13

Wait and bit longer and use your first urine of the day. @prettypinkpansies

PrettyPinkPansies · 16/03/2021 15:14

@HereWeGoooo these have all been off FMU x

Pancakes7 · 16/03/2021 15:38

@HereWeGoooo I'm taking pregnacare and they are huge but I'm pretty good at taking tablets so doesn't phase me. I take the whole time.

@PrettyPinkPansies Welcome, congratulations on your BFP! I got my pregnant 1-2 weeks and never bothered to take any more. I think they can cause too much added stress. I would wait for your scan on Friday and stop testing if I were you. I hope you can try and keep busy and stay positive.

PrettyPinkPansies · 16/03/2021 15:42

@Pancakes7 I wish I had that level of self restraint, my anxiety is through the roof, Friday still seems like a long way away :( x

Pancakes7 · 16/03/2021 15:48

@PrettyPinkPansies Tbh I never really thought to do more than one test after I got the words pregnant. But also with my mmc's I know that for me the test would still look positive even if things weren't. So personally tests don't mean much to me. Only a scan can reassure me. Believe me I was a mess leading up to my scan which was last Friday. If I'll scroll back on the thread I was just so anxious I felt sick. It was awful. Luckily this time it was good news. I hope it's good news for you too. Great you've got a scan at epu. I've always had to pay privately. I hope all goes well x

PrettyPinkPansies · 16/03/2021 15:50

@Pancakes7 yeah I know what you mean, I've had good progression on cheap tests it's just the digital now I'm waiting on :/ so pleased everything is going well for you xx

Pancakes7 · 16/03/2021 15:52

@PrettyPinkPansies That is a good sign then that the cheapies are getting darker. I did a few cheapies to start as I tested very early. I would take that as a positive sign.

PrettyPinkPansies · 16/03/2021 15:54

@Pancakes7 thank you :) I'll let you know how it goes

PumpkinEverything · 16/03/2021 16:26

I tried to send a reply and I don’t think it’s worked 🤦‍♀️ Be careful with the cheapies @PrettyPinkPansies I did one the day before my first scan for reassurance and it ended up being lighter than before, the test line was darker! (Look at the photo) I obviously panicked and looked it up and discovered there’s something called the hook affect where when your HCG levels get so high the tests stop getting darker, unless you dilute your pee with water?! I never did anymore after that, it put me off 😂 my scan was fine the next day, and the second one was fine too!

@PrettyPinkPansies & @PumpkinEverything oh gosh that's bad. I didn't know that. Yeah tbh I only did them till I got a dark line then did a digital then stopped as I was up to having missed my af by then.

PumpkinEverything · 16/03/2021 16:45

I wasn’t going to and then my husband mentioned it @Pancakes7 @PrettyPinkPansies and I thought sure why not, might as well get a bit of reassurance before my scan. Did the complete opposite 😂 learnt my lesson now!

Bellabubble · 16/03/2021 17:21

I’m late to the party again lol! But finally am getting emails again at least! I’m not fussed about knowing the gender beforehand - it will save me money as I won’t go overboard buying to many clothes beforehand 😂 also - if we have a girl I don’t want people knowong and buying me loads of pink there’s a strong chance we’ll have a little red-head and being one myself - I know pink doesn’t suit me 😂 I already have a boy and girls name picked though - originally had 3 of each but in the last 2 years I taught 2 boys and 2 girls with the names I liked. It’s weird - when I spend so much time with the children, the name becomes so them that I can’t imagine naming my own children after them - even if they are the loveliest child ever! So I’m down to my last 2 names - 1 boy and 1 girl :)

PrettyPinkPansies · 16/03/2021 17:25

@PumpkinEverything I have heard of the hook effect!! I was scared of that happening so after I had a few days of darker than control (varying a little) I left it, now I'm obsessing over digitals!!

vitaminb33 · 16/03/2021 17:53

@PrettyPinkPansies I can't really be helpful because I have almost no idea when I ovulated (I have very irregular periods), I'm sort of guessing it was a few days past 5 weeks but 🤷‍♀️ I'll only know if that's accurate if I get to my scan

vitaminb33 · 16/03/2021 17:59

Ah damn I'm having a bit of a panic, in the last 10 minutes I've had a few pretty bad cramps low on my right abdomen. I'm nearly having a panic attack. I've tried moving around and different positions and they're still there

dippyegg32 · 16/03/2021 18:16

Hi all, i was on this thread last month but it was my residual hcg from my mmc playing havoc and giving me false positives. I ended up going for blood tests at epu and after the second lot they confirmed I was officially negative. Fast forward four weeks and I'm 14dpo and have positive tests which so far seem to be showing progression. I'm literally a bag of nerves. Cramping a lot so of course beyond terrified. Far too scared to register with maternity so I'm going to block that out for now.

Smurf123 · 16/03/2021 18:24

@PumpkinEverything thanks I think I've managed to send you a pm

Smurf123 · 16/03/2021 18:25

My bump has felt quite tight and sore this afternoon.. It's hard not to worry.. Thankfully I've had a lie down on the sofa and it seems to have eased a bit.. I don't know what it was maybe just stretching? I'm hoping

vitaminb33 · 16/03/2021 18:37

Yes I've rather dramatically retreated to bed and the cramps have subsided now. Still feeling pretty anxious about it 😅

Welcome @dippyegg32! Congratulations I'm so pleased you've got your positive! I've also been a complete bag of nerves since I got mine so you're definitely not alone here ❤️

marplemead · 16/03/2021 18:48

Welcome @PrettyPinkPansies and welcome back @dippyegg32!

@vitaminb33 I can imagine it's hard not to panic even though cramping doesn't necessarily mean anything to worry about. Do you have a number to contact a midwife?

vitaminb33 · 16/03/2021 19:03

@marplemead I have just registered with the hospital so I do have a number I can call, but to be honest I'm worried they'll suspect it's an ectopic and get me in for a scan, and I'm still not in a place where I feel okay going back to the EPU. I think I'm just going to take it slow and see whether the cramps come back
