@HereWeGoooo I don't think I remember how to work anymore 😂 then I'll have to say I'm pregnant... 🙈 yeah I'll just say sorry it's a hospital appointment I can't miss. They won't ask details

@Pancakes7 Am I right in thinking you are going back part time, if so do you know what days? It could be worth mentioning to your midwife that you will only be available on certain days. When will your scan roughly fall, will it be before your son starts nursery?

Pancakes7 · 15/03/2021 09:48

@MrsTD88 Scan I think will be the second week of April. She's already referred me for it last week. Yeah I'm going back working Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

MrsTD88 · 15/03/2021 09:52

@Pancakes7 hopefully it falls on one of the days you're off 🤞🏻 is your son excited to start nursery?

My scan feels like a lifetime away. It is next Wednesday when I'll be bang on 14 weeks based on LMP but closer to 13+3 based on cycle length and previous scans.

Pancakes7 · 15/03/2021 09:55

@MrsTD88 He's only 22 months old so has no idea he's starting lol. I know he'll hate it at the start. We did settling in December but then delayed his start as I was still off. He had 1 good session, 1 awful and 1 was ok. I think once he's settled he'll enjoy it. He's only going Wednesdays. My Mum does the other 2 days.

HereWeGoooo · 15/03/2021 09:55

@Pancakes7 don't worry, they'll need to take some responsibility to reintroduce you to everything. First week will probably just be saying hello to folk and getting IT inductions / training software.. they shouldn't throw you in at the deep end. You might actually enjoy having a distraction from all consuming baby thoughts! Just take it easy :)

Pancakes7 · 15/03/2021 09:56

@HereWeGoooo Thanks. They haven't even told me my new job yet lol. I've got 4.5k emails I can see on my phone

@Pancakes7 Yuck! Delete them all and start again! No use trawling through old news. People will bring to your attention anything worthwhile updating you on.

marplemead · 15/03/2021 10:07

Great news @Strawberry08! So happy for you ❤️

Firevie · 15/03/2021 10:10

@Strawberry08 yay!!! I’m really pleased for you! Hope you can enjoy the pregnancy now a little bit!!!

So, last week was a full on week with all our scans. When are the next scans now? I still need to register with nhs but my next scan is on 30th March with my private doctor. I will be 11+2 and we will get the harmony test done too.

Has anyone else done the harmony test/is considering doing it? So many different reviews. Xxx

Greenrubber · 15/03/2021 10:14

@Strawberry08
Congratulations!

Pancakes7 · 15/03/2021 10:16

@HereWeGoooo and @MrsTD88 I just got my scan letter and it’s a Tuesday yay!! It's Tuesday 13th April so I'll be 12 weeks +1 but if my private scan is correct I'll actually be 12 weeks +3

Strawberry08 · 15/03/2021 10:22

Thanks everyone!!

@Firevie my next scan is on the 26th of March.
I was considering harmony but don’t know too much about it. Will try and do some reading today and let you know if we decide to go for it

MrsTD88 · 15/03/2021 10:23

@Pancakes7 I'm sure the nursery will do a great job at helping him settle in. That's great your mum can help too. I'm also very lucky to have my mum to help with childcare.

Oh no that is a lot of emails! I agree with @HereWeGoooo, delete and start again or only go back say a month to get caught up?

That is perfect your scan falls on a Tuesday! 🙌🏼

@Firevie my scan is on 24 March at 10:50am. I am on the countdown now so I can start telling people. So excited to tell our daughter, she is going to be so happy. 😍

I'm not going to have the harmony just the NHS combined screening and hope all is well. I'm not sure how rest of UK works but here in Scotland if you get a high chance result back they then offer the NIPT on the NHS.

Pancakes7 · 15/03/2021 10:49

@MrsTD88 Yes it's the same here with the screening and they offer nipt if needed. I'm just having the nhs screening too.

vitaminb33 · 15/03/2021 11:05

Congratulations @Strawberry08! 🎉❤️

MrsTD88 · 15/03/2021 11:08

@Pancakes7 ah that's good they offer that all over the UK. I find the thought of the invasive testing very scary.

Pancakes7 · 15/03/2021 11:09

@MrsTD88 same here it does sound scary. My manager actually told me with one of their children they had a high risk of 50% for downs I think it was and they had the additional test but all was okay.

OP posts:
Firevie · 15/03/2021 11:13

Interesting re your opinions on the harmony. I think my doctor suggested it as I’m 37 and apparently harmony is even more accurate? Not sure tbh. Don’t think it’s invasive though - I read the harmony test is just a blood sample?!
When does the nhs do that test? As in which week? Xxx

Pancakes7 · 15/03/2021 11:17

@Firevie Nhs does it at your 12 week dating scan. Harmony is the same just blood test. The invasive is only if you come back as high risk

OP posts:
vitaminb33 · 15/03/2021 11:24

For my first pregnancy I decided not to have the screening because I had such awful anxiety and the tests do have quite a high false-positive rate, and because of my anxiety I wasn't sure I could take the tiny risk of the amniocentesis if I needed it to clarify a result. I'm in my late twenties though so the overall risks are fairly low, think it's a very individual decision!

@Firevie My first scan's on the 28th, starting to loom on the horizon 😬

Firevie · 15/03/2021 11:29

Thanks all! @Pancakes7 - assume the nhs test is also a blood test? Isn’t the rate of false positives higher on the nhs test? I read that the nhs one has a 70% accuracy and harmony has a 99% accuracy?
Just filled out the online form for the nhs also so I can get my 12week appointment through and a midwife. Though tbh I’d much prefer to just stay with my private doctor and the hospital I’ve been going to but he’s private and whilst it’s been ok for the early scans I think staying with him for the rest of the pregnancy will be quite costly...

Pancakes7 · 15/03/2021 11:31

@Firevie Yes a blood test. I haven't looked into it tbh.

OP posts:
MrsTD88 · 15/03/2021 11:37

@Firevie I think the initial NHS blood test is quite basic and combined with the NT scan, age etc to provide a high or low risk chance of Downs, Edwards and Patau syndromes. If you get a high chance result back then you can have the NIPT testing done which is pretty similar to Harmony from what I've read. I think the NIPT is much more accurate than the initial NHS screening as it is a more in depth analysis of blood sample.

Firevie · 15/03/2021 11:42

Thanks all. I’ll do some more reading around but I’m leaning towards the harmony one at the moment...let’s see. It’s not until 30 March which is when I’m having my next scan so I can still change my mind if need be.
Thanks all! Xxx
