Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Soph73 · 09/11/2007 15:21

Oooo sheds, lucky you Will definately be having some vino tonight as DH, after spending 3 nights with nearly 80 Year 9 pupils will need a drink Well better go & tidy up. Enjoy your weekends everyone. Soph xxxxxx

sagitta · 09/11/2007 15:24

That sounds nice, sheds.
I did reusable nappies last time, and will again I think - although i used a laundry service for the first few months. Think I'll wash them myself this time (after the first couple of weeks of dsiposables). For a compromise, those who prefer disposables but are worried in an eco-way, Nature baby does good nappies with much less chemical stuff in, and you can get non-plastic wipes and better nappy bags from them too.
Work contract finishes May 6 so I'm hoping for a late baby...

paranoidmummy · 09/11/2007 15:25

mmmmmmm maccy d's i am soooooooo jealous! i am trying to be good with my money and stop buying takeaways... its so tough tho!!!

I'm the same with waiting til my 20wk scan for shopping - feel like its tempting fate before, I'm quite superstitious!! But think i will prob have to wait til after xmas really cos of finances. might order the bugaboo soon tho - very very exciting. (whenever i here or think of bugaboo i sing that destiny's child song in my head!) god i think this pregnancy is making me a bit crazy...

paranoidmummy · 09/11/2007 15:28

oh i'm jealous of you all talking about wine, i haven't braved it yet i case i go all paranoid afterwards as usual!!! I can't put dh through that. I'm thinking provided all is well at 20 wk scan then i may treat myself to a nice glass of bubbly... mmmmm, i bet one sip makes me tiddly!

prob best i leave it this wk anyway cos of my poorlyness at start of wk

Denny185 · 09/11/2007 16:37

Good luck tomorrow TMLS, very of you still have another week and a half till mine and feeling v nervous, I think coz i still havnt felt this one moving.

We use reusables with DS, they are little lambs - v similar to tots bots but a fraction of the price, they are great and really easy to use so will carry on with the next one. (except the first couple of days those poos are like super glue!)

Everyone else seems to have had really poor experiences with c-sections, just in case anyone else ends up having to have one I had a really good experience with both of mine - the second was a failed VBAC - its obviously not the first line choice but it dosent have to be horrendous.

Mollyfloss · 09/11/2007 17:31

I hadn't even thought about dispoable nappies and I'm always going on about the environment so I will just have to think about them now... almost wish you lot didn't bring them up... I know, very bad of me to say that

I haven't thougt much about the delivery like some of the other first timers. I like to think whatever happens it's only a matter of hours and I'll get through it, yes I know, I'm delusional I suppose I really should start reading the end of the pregnancy books and se what it's all about...

TLSM · 09/11/2007 18:03

Denny185 I couldnt wait another 4 weeks my 20 week scan isnt until 18th Dec so I would be 20+4 whats that about! I am going to use Little lambs to they look so sweet I have bought a whole set of Bambino mio but now want to use the little lamb ones dont know hoe I am going to explain two sets to my DH!

I wont be giving up work until 10th April as baby now due until 26th and I know they will be ringing me the whole time I am off ahh!

VictorianSqualor · 09/11/2007 18:09

Hey everyone, ugh, smear tests are horrid arent they?
Anyway, hopefully all is ok, nurse said it all looked fine, and healed well.
Have had some cramps after though, not sure if I should be worried?
Nappies, I'm not sure about, but I wouldprefer to use reusable, just hadn't got round to looking it up.

Piccalilli2 · 09/11/2007 18:16

Mollyfloss, although there is a bit more to it than that, I actually found repeating the mantra 'this won't last forever and I will get through it' helped immensely when I was in labour (apart from the slightly embarassing incident when I yelled at the midwife that actually I wasn't going to get through it and could they please give me some drugs RIGHT NOW)

You're all making me feel bad with your reusable nappies...but I feel like I spend my whole life washing as it is. And in my green defence I haven't been on a plane in nearly 3 years so at least I can be reasonably smug about my carbon footprint.

Denny185 · 09/11/2007 20:48

TLSM - Does he need to know? If hes anything like my DH he wouldnt have a clue which brand of nappy hes putting on. If you havnt used your bambinos you could resell them on ebay - generally fetch a good price for nappies on there. Ive been really pleased with little lambs, only one leak in last 14 months and think that was my fault as was so busy shopping didnt realise how long it had been since the last change!

Mollyfloss - you can get environmetally friendly disposables, they are more expensive and a bit more difficult to get hold off and not sure of their leakproofness. Ive never used them as im a cheapskate and would rather use what ive got than spend any more money.

Bainmarie · 09/11/2007 20:58

Spirit of nature do free samples of environmentally friendly disposable nappies, so you could try them and see if you like them?
Denny185, would you recommend little lambs? DS is in nappies and I want to switch to reusuables but am a bit confused by the vast amount of choice!

lemonaid · 09/11/2007 21:41

Ooooh! Just found that my brother and SIL are expecting in mid-late May. How exciting!

gemprincess · 09/11/2007 22:07

Hi ladies, just wanted to say that i went for a private scan today.18 weeks tomorrow with number 4 and was gettin really paranoid. Feel so well this time which is not like me in pregnancy.Anyway to cut long story short, all looks well and im having a BOY which after 3 gorgeous girls is the icing on the cake....Still cant believe it,looking forward to buying some blue clothes!!

smcg · 09/11/2007 23:04

Congrats Gemprincess!
VS, hope the cramps have eased off.

Have a good weekend all.

chipmonkey · 09/11/2007 23:49

Oh, gemprincess, that is wonderful! My brother was the first boy after 3 girls and we adored him!

lemonaid · 10/11/2007 09:07

Congratulations, gemprincess!

Mollyfloss · 10/11/2007 15:58

Congratulatiosn Gemprincess!!! That's great news. I bet your daughted will totally adore him!

Denny185 · 10/11/2007 19:37

Congrats gemprincess - boys toys are so much better than girls

Bainmarie - I love little lambs, the only thing I would say about them is they are thicker than some of the other brands that you have to prefold so they do take longer to dry. So if space is an issue and you dont have a tumble dryer (which kind of defeats the issue) then I would go for pre-folds, Ive never used them but a friend uses disana (not sure of spelling) and they sort of wrap round and tied on, they dry really quickly on radiator/airer so she needed less of them.

hauntedvillas · 10/11/2007 19:46

Hello everyone, just checking in, hope you are all well. Having slight kittens (is that possible today about being at home with a 3 year old and a baby! Pathetic, I know! Just think I am going to miss my job a wee bit. Still, I suppose I'll soon be so busy that I'll have no time to miss anything! Gemprincess - congratulations! That's very exciting for you PS: it is slightly uncool to still be using my hallowe'en name, I know ...

gemprincess · 10/11/2007 20:50

Hauntedvillas- I totally understand where you coming from. I went back to work after my 1st but decided to be at home after 2nd.Well now on 4th.Do get days when i really miss work life but so busy now. Congrats Gemprincess and tlsm
Out of interest, did either of you "think" you were having a boy? Or did any of the gender predictors/old wives tales get it right?

I'm so curious to know mine, I can't wait three weeks!!

Who's next to find out?

TLSM · 11/11/2007 10:13

The tests said we were having a girl and I thought i was having a girl so much so I bought girls clothes But it is deff a boy I have a pic of his manly buts lol!
