Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mummyofaprincess · 23/11/2007 16:05

awww scampmum
My DD does make me forgot him also when LO kicks me i feel so proud to know he/she is mine. i just hope now i can continue to give my two a good life etc

paranoidmummy · 23/11/2007 16:27

Oh mummyofaprincess I am so sorry. If it is any consolation my nasty xp left me when he heard i was preg with ds. It was quite scary but I have never looked back. My life now is 100% better than i could have ever hoped it would be. As you as you and your little ones are healthy that is the most important thing. We will all be here for you

huge congrats on scan vs even tho i am slightly jealous! am so pleased it went so well for you.

scorpio - i like taila for a girl. we were actually thinking of talia which is how i read it first of all. we've gone off that a bit just cos we know a horrible little girl with the name

In regards to my prob with my 20 week scan i have decided to make a complaint to my midwife. I have spoken to my sil who had her scan yest and she had heart close ups etc and was in there half an hour so i'm pretty annoyed about it. i'm going to moan to my midwife to see if she will get me another booking. i don't really see why i should have to pay for something that should be given to me. just cos the nhs in my area are incompetent foools...

rant over

VictorianSqualor · 23/11/2007 17:37

Paranoidmummy, they spent hardly any time looking at tyhe heart, she went 'there's the heart, everything seems fine there,' and then moved on, I think they look closer if it doesnt look perfect, so maybe your LO just looks awesome

Elfsmummy · 23/11/2007 18:02

PM I'm really sorry you're worrying about this. There are certain things that have to be looked at at the 20 week scan and the heart is certainly one of them. There's no way that they would have missed it in your scan. (I used to work in Paediatric cardiac surgery!)

It really will have depended upon your sonographer. They are all trained to observe the same things but some will have commented differently on them. If your sonographer was particularly good, they will have seen almost immediately that there was nothing to worry about and moved onto the other parts. (probably thinking that its more interesting for you!)

They were also probably picking up on your verbal cues. For example if someone is particually anxious, people learn quite quickly not to mention too much detail as it does cause anxiety - I know it does me -

You can always mention it to your midwife and I'm sure that she'll re-assure you too.

I hope you have a good weekend

V1KK1M · 23/11/2007 18:51

mummyofaprincess - I agree with everyone that your dp is a jerk and you'll be better off without him.

Scorpio - The girls names I like are Brooke, Erica, Erin or Lauren.

V1KK1M · 23/11/2007 18:53

PM - they didn't even mention the heart to me?!?! I saw them look at the blood pumping through (at least I think it was the heart).

Humphries · 23/11/2007 19:40

Joining in on the naming lists

We have chosen Alistair Joseph and Louisa May, we don't know the sex as it will be a nice surprise.

I love Nicole but DH is not keen. We were thinking of Erin or Faye before we decided on Louisa x

lemonaid · 23/11/2007 20:05

Our sonographer gave us quite a detailed running commentary on everything -- it was fascinating, particularly some of the stuff about the brain and the spinal column.

Fleecy · 23/11/2007 20:25

Catching up on posts again - I'm still wearing underwired bras. I wore them right up to 7.5months pregnant last time and had no trouble with mastitis or milk supply so hopefully okay.

Is it really sad to be sitting here reading posts and eating my way through half an apple crumble and a big bag of Sensations crisps at 8.20 on a Friday night?

Mummyofaprincess - I'm so sorry to hear your news. How horrible for you. Big hugs xx

BabyBratt · 23/11/2007 20:31

Hi Ladies

I lurk in here all the time. I don't always post because I used to get scared that something would go wrong (yes I am paranoid). But Im excited as I have had to buy maternity trousers today and I can really see my bump.

Im 18 weeks but I can't really feel movement only the odd flutter. But it is my first so I am not too worried. My friend did not feel movement until 24 weeks with her first.

Hope you feel better paranoid mummy.

Peachy · 25/11/2007 16:04

'Is it really sad to be sitting here reading posts and eating my way through half an apple crumble and a big bag of Sensations crisps at 8.20 on a Friday night? '

Last year I passed out in a back street of yeovil and ahd to be carried home by Dh in a coma

So a slight erm, dive in partying there LOL

babybratt Hi

V1KK1M · 25/11/2007 16:04

Hi babybratt - welcome.

I have finally been feeling definite movements (at 21+3) It feels so strange but nice at the same time - DH still hasn't been able to feel it but I guess it may take another few weeks yet - it might be a nice xmas present for him

V1KK1M · 25/11/2007 16:08

I know what you mean peachy - last Weds everyone bwas talking about drinking games and there plans for xmas and all I could think was how much I missed it and how I wouldn't be able to join in this year!

Peachy · 25/11/2007 16:10

I don't think I shall ever do vodka again after that night (or rather morning) -

I'm sure I shall find another alternative next year though

TLSM · 25/11/2007 16:35

Lol Peachy although now I fancy apple crumble!

Welcome Babybratt I think I posted on one of your threads a while ago glad everything is going ok!

I have been feeling baby move for a few weeks am now 18+1 but this is my second also a really weird feeling I have felt his heart beating twice in bed! on Friday I woke up on my front and could feel bom bom bom then he moved and it stopped! also my Dh put his head to my belly this morning and the baby kicked him twice!

I went to see the doctor on Friday as have an ear infection although turns out I cant get anything for it as you cant take the meds if you are at high risk from bleeding! I spoke to him about the Group B strep thing I have with this one and now I am quite worried! I said how long do I need to be on the drugs before they will help the baby and he said oh 4-5 hours! what if I dont have 4-5 hours! I think I will speak to the Midwife about it re getting an induction because I dont want to be panicing about this the whole way through the pregnancy

lemonaid · 25/11/2007 17:48

They can give the baby antibiotics after birth as well, if you don't get the 4-5 hours' notice...

TLSM · 25/11/2007 20:05

Hi lemonaid I know they can give the drugs to the little chap but I really dont want him to have to go through that it would mean he is in the special baby unit for 24 hours and on a drip instead of with his mummy having cuddles

chipmonkey · 25/11/2007 20:18

DS3 was in SCBU for 2 weeks, TSLM. It is hard but you can cuddle them and it certainly hasn't affected ds3 in any way.

Mossy · 25/11/2007 21:27

Sorry to interrupt ladies but it's that time of the month again! Are any of you in Merseyside and thinking about breastfeeding? Look here for details of an antenatal breastfeeding workshop this Thursday, especially for pg ladies. It's not a "sales pitch"; no one is going to try and "talk you into it"; it's more of a "how to" so that if you do go down the bf route, you'll be prepared once you've given birth.

And there's free biscuits. And tea. And coffee.

chipmonkey · 26/11/2007 01:13

Not in Merseyside but will deffo be breastfeeding! Have spent 4.5 years of my life bfing so far so unlikely to change now!

EllieG · 26/11/2007 09:27

Hey all - hope your weekends went well

mummyofaprincess - still thinking of you. Of course you will be good for your LO's - you sound like a lovely mummy who loves them very much. They are lucky to have you and you them x

DSD birthday went well though I am exhausted! She and her little friend didn't stop giggling for 24 hours I think. By the time she left on sunday lunchtime we were left with a very tired girl though, which was a bit of a shame. She perked up when people came round for birthday cake and more presents mind!

SO tired today can hardly type. I hate visitors and being busy.

Morning all. Have been reading through the weekend posts and now can´t stop thinking about apple crumble!! ellieg - pleased the b'day party was a hit Can´t wait till Thursday - 20 wk scan with the 3D machine thingame .. soooo excited

northeastmummy · 26/11/2007 10:49

Good morning everyone! Feeling a bit sorry for myself today - had a sickness bug over the weekend which I think I caught from my DD so haven't been able to eat, or even drink water. The talk of apple crumble ... and yum yum sensations ... is making me miss food even more! Anyway, my tummy seems to have calmed down a bit today and I've had some dry cereal which has stayed down (lovely ). Hopefully by tonight I'll be able to have something a bit tastier.

mummofaprincess - I'm so sorry to hear your news but have to agree that in the long run it sounds like it's for the better. I hope your DD is still keeping you smiling.

TLSM - I also have strep this pregnancy and they keep sticking big warning stickers all over my notes which is a bit disturbing. Does your trust have the same policy as mine? They test me at 36 weeks to see if it's still there?

Soph73 · 26/11/2007 11:04

NEM - sorry to hear that, hope you feel better soon My friend had this strep thingy but when they tested the baby after the birth (she gives birth really quickly so couldn´t have anything beforehand) it didn´t need any antibiotics & neither did she - don´t know what that´s all about

northeastmummy · 26/11/2007 11:19

Yeah, my cousin had it with her first and got quite stressed about it. I've got a leaflet which I've read but I haven't done much other research and feel I should probably educate myself a bit better. It all seems to be a bit ambiguous.
