Hello all - new thread here!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
scampmum · 22/11/2007 12:56

Just re-read back up the thread to work out how Soph73 knew NEM was from the north-east...

Got it!

Come on scangirls, I'm impatient...

Had a massive bowl of porridge for breakfast this morning and was still gagging for lunch by 11. Foetal growth spurt, must be.

scampmum · 22/11/2007 12:58

I must confess to having lurked on a birth club thread on a (gasp) rival site last time. It's really nice to see pictures of other people's babies, but I could probably do without them at the end of EVERY post...

VictorianSqualor · 22/11/2007 13:03

I have a friend from Aberdeen, well she was from there lives in Dundee now, but thought it might make you feel better

northeastmummy · 22/11/2007 13:13

I agree - the pictures get too much and make it even more of a problem getting to the point. I like the way this site has the photos there if you want to have a look. I'll need to get some photos to put up there - I don't really have any of me. Will try and rectify that over the weekend.

So, how did Soph73 know NEM was from the NE?

VictorianSqualor · 22/11/2007 13:17

I have just noticed how big my nipples are.
My GOD they are HUGE.

paranoidmummy · 22/11/2007 13:22

right ok i KNOW i am going to start to piss everyone off here with my paranoia BUT i have started to panic again! just reading through your posts and saw KnitterintheNW's posts about heart defects. I don't really remember my sonographer looking closely at any of the chambers etc on tues and now am v worried. do u think i should book a second private anomlay scan or am i being, as my dh says (!), silly and worrying about nothing? I'm sorrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyyyy but i seem to be destined to worry!

paranoidmummy · 22/11/2007 13:23

lOL vs btw! i know, its quite disconcerting i think! mine are ginormous but my dh seems to be telling everyone. gee thanks

northeastmummy · 22/11/2007 13:25

Hi there paranoidmummy. There are a number of things that are always checked at the 20 week scan (is that what you had on Tuesday?) and one of those would definitely be the heart. If the sonographer was able to see everything quickly and clearly they maybe just didn't feel a need to mention it. When I went for my scan with DD, the sonographer couldn't find one of the valves and took a bit of time over it, but if it hadn't been for that, I wouldn't have known.

VictorianSqualor · 22/11/2007 13:28

paranoid, the reason your sonographer would have probably been looking very closely at those parts on the scan is that at around 24 weeks something changes, in 50% of those women who don't change they get eclampsia, in 5% of those who do change they get eclampsia, so they would have just been looking to see if it's likely to change. Don't fret!
This isn't your first is it? Am I right in thinking you're one of the VBACers??? Does it say so on your notes??

TheMaskedPoster · 22/11/2007 13:29

Afternoon all - just got back from my scan and everything was fine . Was lovely to see the little love all snuggly in there and he/she managed a wave and to move at the right time so the sonographer could check everything that she needed to.

Mananged to last through the scans (had to go out half way through to drink more water and jump around a bit to get the little one to move etc) without caving in and asking the sex - so it is still a surprise!

Hope all are well - I am over the moon that this scan went well and everything A-OK!

XX

VictorianSqualor · 22/11/2007 13:29

ok, I just realsied I totally got the wrong end of the stick I meant some place on the uterus they look!
The heart would've been checked just the same as everyone elses will be.

Sheds75 · 22/11/2007 13:35

excellent news TMP nice to know everything is as it should be

scampmum · 22/11/2007 13:37

How funny - I was going to post on just that topic today (well, my nipples, naturally, not yours). It looks like I have joke boobs on with holes for nipples that someone has stuck their thumbs through (no nails, though).

I don't think I put that very well. Maybe I should just have said 'Mine too!'

NorthEasternMummy - the clue was in the name, it just took me a while to figure it out!

northeastmummy · 22/11/2007 13:37

TheMaskedPoster - congratulations on your great scan. Don't they look snug in there? I remember feeling quite sorry for DD when it was time to come out - why would you want to?

VictorianSqualor - what is a VBAC?

paranoidmummy · 22/11/2007 13:37

fantastic tmp! so pleased it went well.

thank you vs and nem for your reassurance. am sure all is fine but i can't help panicking yet again!

what is the eclampsia thing vs? i'm intrigued. no, its not my first and yes, i'm a vbacer am very impressed at your memory, gold star for you. u'd have thought it was my irst with all this bloody worrying i do tho! just thinking back i'm sure i saw the heart in more detail with my first preg. however it may be cos t was only my second ever scan i was still amazed that i could see so much. after all of them i've had now it doesn't seem so clear etc. does that make sense?! i think i'm just being crazy.

also tmp well done for holding out on sex.

vs, have u had your 20 wk? am i right in thinking you were going to hold out for a surprise too. Is it just me finding it hard now loads of peeps on here know what they are having???

VictorianSqualor · 22/11/2007 13:39

Vaginal Birth After Caesarian, there are a few of us going for them on here.
I'm going for my VBA2C, and Gemprincess is going to force her midwives and consultant to let her have a VBA3C, if they say no she is going to beat them with her stacks of information until they relent

TheMaskedPoster · 22/11/2007 13:40

Thanks Sheds75 - tis wonderful and welcome to NorthEasternMummy

Speaking of breasts - I must get measured for a new bra size etc ... Is now a good time ?- I don't want to get measured and then have to go through it all again in a month or so iyswim (can't remember from last time )

scampmum · 22/11/2007 13:40

Congrats TMP!

Don't worry, PM. We are having a special foetal echocardiogram in addition to the normal abnormality scan only because they picked up a dodgy valve on the 12 week scan. They will definitely have checked the heart on your anomaly scan - if you look at your notes there might be something saying that it was OK, or there might just be nothing indicating there was nothing out of the ordinary to report.

I thought I was paranoid!

TheMaskedPoster · 22/11/2007 13:42

Cheers Paranoidmummy.

and speaking of worrying - I am worrying a whole lot more this time around. .. the first time I just seemed to sail through!

TheMaskedPoster · 22/11/2007 13:43

thanks scampmum ! Right - Neighbours is on ... gotta run

VictorianSqualor · 22/11/2007 13:43

It's mine tomorrow morning. DD is having the first lesson off school so she can come.
I know what you mean about it being hard, I'm so determined not to ask, but it only takes that 30 seconds of me blurting it out to ruin my surprise!! DP wants to 'sex' the baby when it is born so I'm telling myself it's for him and that as I have the kicks the least he can have is that.

I have a scan at 24 weeks to see about the pre-eclampsia thingy, it's called a 'uterine artery doppler' because I had an abruption before they just want to be sure I'm not higher risk for eclampsia, plus my mum had eclampsia when pg with me.

TheMaskedPoster · 22/11/2007 13:44

(oh and hope all is well with the heart scan thing for your lo scampmum x)

paranoidmummy · 22/11/2007 13:45

yeah it did say normal but i am just suspicious. my trust are really bloody terrible. i had 2 mc's this yr and both times they treated me horrendously. sent me home saying i wasn't even preg one time only for me to come back a few hours later bleeding buckets and them saying 'oh ok maybe u are'. they'd mixed up the urine samples!

so i just have no faith whatsoever in anyone who works there which is part of the reason i think i am so bloody paranoid this time round. i promise promise promise i am going to relax!

paranoidmummy · 22/11/2007 13:48

oh vs how exciting, make sure u post as soon as u come back! and be strong with the gender! (bless your dh, that is very cute of him) I'm using you as my bakbone at the moment. i reckon if u fold i will at my 4d scan - lol!

scampmum · 22/11/2007 13:53

PM - paranoia understandable! I'm the other end of the spectrum - hoping my hospital (Harris Birthright @ Kings) is just TOO good and they spot problems which aren't there

If you're really worried then I would shell out for a private scan if you think the private sonographers are better. I would guess the sonographers are pretty independent of the people who saw you post mc (??) so maybe try not to infer too much incompetence across. I would have thought that checking out the heart would be one of the bits they get really rigorous training in.

Either way, do whatever feels best for you. Don't feel bad/silly for worrying!
