Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MassiveMollyfloss · 20/11/2007 08:21

Sorry to hear some of you are not feeling so well. I'm so thankful to feel this good right now as the morning sickness until week 12/13 was terrible. More on yesterday's scan as I'm still on high When we went in I asked the scanner (who is adorable) to go through all the important stuff first, measurements etc. Once he told us that everything was normal he asked if we were ready to find out and I said would he mind if we tried to guess ourselves. I just asked him to point out around where we should be looking and he did a close up of the bum area. We both said straight away it's a girl!!! It's was so nice to work it our ourselves (even though we were really helped). I have a Doctor's appt this morning as I couldn't see her yesterday. It should be just the usual check up stuff.

My Mum told me yesterday that she NEVER gave me a night feed, that I never looked for it. She would give me a last feed every night at about 11 and I wouldn't look for anything until 6 or 7 and that was right from when I was born. Let's hope my little daughter will be the same (ooooh, it's so nice to say my daughter!)

I have a friend who is a Doctor who showed me how to feel my uterus. Just push in around your belly button with the side of your hand (as if you're slicing your belly) and try at different heights until it goes in. I don't like doing it though, it feels weird.

Sheds75 · 20/11/2007 08:43

congratulations to everyone who's just had their scans

I'm going to see the consultant on Friday as I have 2 Vertebrae missing in my lower spine and they need to check out how things will progress and what my brithing plan should be like, quite scared really

EllieG · 20/11/2007 09:11

How do you feel for your uterus? I was poking myself last night and I think I felt a sort of harder place that hadn't been there before, but not sure, as I wasn't in the habit of poking myself in the stomach much.
Having said that, I'm almost sure I felt baby move after doing that so maybe was the right place as felt all bubbly and weird.

Denny185 · 20/11/2007 10:25

Congrats suz - was def a girl day yesterday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Scorpio hope your having a lovely day

Gemprincess - they may not by keen on VBA3C but if they can give you no clinical reason for not having a trial of labour then maybe you could 'push' for it. I suppose it depends though how old your scar is and the integrity of it from the last section, you'll have to weigh up your options once youve seen cons next week. Ive only had 2 but I kind of got the impression if Id have pushed for it they would have let me have another trial of scar. Good luck and hope you get the result you want.

Good friend of mine had her scan yesterday as well, shes got a blue flavoured one so we can swop clothes - bonus thought I was going to have to rekit another wardrobe (we have no girl clothes left as never expected to have anymore)

SuzeM · 20/11/2007 10:26

Scorpio, happy birthday! Hope you have a lovely day.

paranoidmummy · 20/11/2007 11:10

thank you soph. I am so nervous now (big nervous pooing myself icon).

Huge congrats to you all on your scans and happy birthday to scorpio.

oh god, breathe breathe stop panicking!

scorpio1 · 20/11/2007 11:11

why are you nervous?

EllieG · 20/11/2007 11:14

Happy birthday scorpio! You doing anything nice?

Yes PM, why are you nervous (aside from being a paranoidmummy of course)? Are you having a scan today?

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 20/11/2007 11:15

i am home alone today - that is nice enough!!

EllieG · 20/11/2007 11:18

ooo lovely. I love those days!

OP posts:
Soph73 · 20/11/2007 12:01

Happy Birthday Scorpio
Yep, paranoid is having her 20wk scan today. I´m breathing with you love

scorpio1 · 20/11/2007 12:02

oh, good luck paranoid!!

mine on thursday, cant wait!

Soph73 · 20/11/2007 12:05

Question - does anyone else have an incredibly itchy tummy? Mine just itches all the time. There´s no rash so I just assume it´s because the skin´s stretching - weird!

scorpio1 · 20/11/2007 12:07

my boobs itch!!

TheMaskedPoster · 20/11/2007 12:11

Happy Birthday Scorpio - have a lovely rest of your day!

Good luck to all the scan-ees,it is nice to see a mixture of boys and girls out there and congrats to those who have found out etc!

My tummy doesn't itch but my legs do (I hope they aren't stretching )

Weather is grotty here - rain, rain, rain - so I am driving dd to nursery this pm (pst don't tell the environment )

Soph73 · 20/11/2007 12:26

scorpio - get itchy boobs periodically as well. We had rain last night (see it´s not all sunshine ) and it´s forecast for rain for the rest of the week but so far it´s nice and bright. Weather´s bound to turn grotty just before the family turn up for Christmas

VictorianSqualor · 20/11/2007 12:27

First I want to answer gemprincess

I am having VBA2C, it is possible to have VBA3C, the risks are NOT really much higher than a VBAC.

Download and print off these guidelines read and highlight 6.2, take this with you, also do not allow them to tell you that the study isn't used, it is used by most hospitals around the UK, it's the definitive guidelines.

I don't know if you have ever used netmums? I have been on it a few times to speak to a woman called Tina, on this thread. She is also on mumsnet under the name vbacqueen1, but I haven't seen her around for a while. She had a VBA3C, and has tons of research to hand.

There is also this thread on mumsnet with people who have achieved VABCs, two of whom are doula's. Go on there post your experiences and they will help you.

Were any of your cs's really premature? as long as there is no reason for them to have cut vertically down your uterus then you will have a normal low transverse cs, so there really isn't a reason for them to refuse you. Unless your body really can't give birth, which depends on the reasons for previous em cs's, was it the way the baby was lying? fetal distress? or something physical on your behalf?

By next tuesday you will have so much information printed off to go into the consultant that they won't really be able to refuse you!

It is your choice

Ok, I'll go back and read everything else now.

VictorianSqualor · 20/11/2007 12:39

Ok I've caught up with everybody else now, sorry bought that, as you can see people being able to give birth if they want is rather important to me

Happy birthday Scorpio, you young 'un

Paranoidmummy, stop being paranoid!

It's my scan on friday, I'm going to let DD have the morning off school to come with me as it's at 9:45, and it's her birthday on saturday.

Peachy · 20/11/2007 12:47

Happy Birthday Scorpio!

Good luck with teh scan VS and paranoidmummy.

Nothing much going on here- been chatting to Cm about how ds3 will react to the baby, we both agree it will tkae him a year to even identify his presence which is a blessing really!. DS3 does realise something is up- was stroking my belly at school (aw) but generalyy takes a year to 'recognise' people.

Bought my ne nephews christmas preent today which was good excuse for s hunta round baby sites LOL. got him / them a baby mozart Cd and a hempresto nappymat (my mate makes those and they're lovely- they sort of clip around the baby so like a nappy but baby gets nappy free time.... poorly explained but theres a website). Hope sister ikes it- she ash everything else.

Ok, got to go sd;y- essay on the Miracles in The Bible due in tomorrow eeeeeeek

lemonaid · 20/11/2007 12:51

Hang on, though -- doesn't 6.2 say that "planned VBAC is contraindicated in
women with [...] three or more previous caesarean deliveries". Is it going to help to wave that in front of the consultant?

(The later section is more helpful, but refers to "two or more" rather than specifically pulling out figures for three or more so will be easier to dismiss)
