Oh, though she wasn't ill (sorry for being annoying person who doesn't read properly - must be because I'm so Seriously Disorganised )

My eprsonal experience (and just that) is that I prefer CM's- a good Cm does things with the child such as groups etc and has other children around. My own kids have been happy both in nursery and Cm settings, but whereas I have been happy with ALL cm's I have used, I ahve removed ds's from 2 nurserys ettings in the past. One because I felt they were cruel (they segregated him as a 15 month old for time and shuted at him for biting when teeting- he wouldn't go in again without being in obvious terror) and one becasue they were smoking in front of the ds's and allowed ds1 as a 'respnsible' 3 year old to sue a large bread knife unsupervised to cut cakes!.

TBH I think its mainly about fidning a setting you feel comfy with, rather than what the setting is, iyswim. This one will probably use a Uni Nursery wherver DH decides to study

the one here doesn't take until 2.5, there's a nursery in teh village but the CM we found by chance is amazing- she's become a friend and given ds3 loads of support over the SN which became apparent in the timespan he has been with her (although previous CM- we moved- did mention suspicions). She took him to Nursery last year as well (school nursery) which helped a lot as they had very fixed sessions and didnt cover much of what we needed.

On average I suspect I'd be happier with a childminder, but there's a really really really really good nursery just down the road that is everything I'd want a nursery to be. They treat their staff well (don't make them do the long shifts that a lot of other nurseries do, for example) and have a really low staff turnover (some of the staff there have turned down jobs with far more responsibility elsewhere), fantastic facilities, lovely atmosphere... really, I couldn't improve any of it (unless, I suppose, hypothetically it were free). So that's where DS goes and this DC will go in time.

I think it's harder to make a decision between "a childminder" and "a nursery" than to make a decision between the specific childminders and nurseries near you. Check out your options and your choice will probably be easier.

That's very true. I don't want to ever leave this one though at moment. In fact, I'm not even sure I really want it to come out, cos if it stayed in my tummy it could be all mine forever....(mad mummy emoticon)

Oh God, I felt like that when DS was born, or more specifically when we went home from hospital. Really sad that I wasn't pregnant any more (and I had been sooooooooooo ready to finish being pregnant) and resentful that I had to share DS with people now. And, if I'm scrupulously honest, probably a leeeetle bit resentful that I wasn't the centre of attention any more. I think it was probably hormones, especially as it happened on Day 4 which is prime baby blues time (my NCT teacher said that around day 3 you will burst into tears if someone wears the wrong colour sweater... )

Toast - DD went to childminder before we moved then went to nursery at 18 months, she was much happier at childminder and I prefered childminder. The nursery used to send them home at the drop of a hat and seemed to have quite a rapid turn over of staff which was really unsettling.

Molly - no it didnt matter what i ate the pounds kept piling on, this time think im doing really well as only put on a stone and half so far, the only differnce this time is as well as walking the dog I am also swimming, doing aqua aerobics and body toning every week (I keep thinking to myself it will be much easier to spring back after if i keep toned - I can dream anyway!)

Just to add to the nursery/childminder debate, I absolutely love my dd's nursery and she's thriving there. I think if you find a good nursery they are fantastic as it gives the kids such an opportunity to socialise and learn from others, but I do think it may be harder to tell a good nursery from a bad nursery than it is to tell a good childminder from a bad one. A lot depends on the particular child as well as a very sensitive or quiet child could get a bit lost in a nursery.

We now have 4 names for a boy: Joshua, Jack, Isaac and Joseph, and 8 for a girl: Charlotte, Sophie, Isabel, Leah, Zoe, Juliet, Chloe and one other that temporarily slips my mind (placenta brain strikes again!)

Hi all, I had my scan yesterday and after jumping up and down, a hot cup of tea and a chocolate bar to get the baby moving they confirmed everything was OK.

I have an anterior placenta which explains why I have not felt anything yet but I am just being impatient and apparently my time will come

The sonographer said that she wouldn't have been able to tell us the sex anyway as the baby was so curled up and had it's legs crossed so I guess the decision was made for me

Anyway I'm off to show off my scan pic's today (even though the baby looks a cross between a monkey and an ostrich) I'm so proud.
