Hello all - new thread here!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SuzeM · 15/11/2007 14:54

Molly, I'm also considering an Irish name but it must be pronounceable (no Gobnaits!). I like Conor too, also thinking of Ruari, Emer, Alannah or Finn.

scampmum · 15/11/2007 14:56
Blush
ToastAddict · 15/11/2007 14:57

You could always "anglicize" it - Narbleflaith

Little Narbly
Tempted......

ToastAddict · 15/11/2007 14:58

Gobnait? Really?

scampmum · 15/11/2007 15:04

Is Ruaraidh (i.e. different spelling) Scottish? They are all lovely names.

My DH is totally unconstructive - hates all my ideas but comes up with none of his own. About once a week, though, he will suggest naming a boy after him.

scampmum · 15/11/2007 15:05

I'm being unfair, actually. We've pretty much decided on Walter for a boy.

Peachy · 15/11/2007 15:09

TA its GobNet in my book- seriosuly (lovely imagery there LOL)

scampmum · 15/11/2007 15:09

"So, what has my daughter learnt this year?"

"Well, she's nearly there on spelling her name"

SuzeM · 15/11/2007 15:09

Gobnait really is a name

Just remembered there is a comedian called Rory McGrath (same last name as me) so I've gone right off Ruari!

SuzeM · 15/11/2007 15:11

This it is pronounced gob-nit.
Yikes!

scorpio1 · 15/11/2007 15:12

my scan is a week today and i just know its going to be a noy, but something is iggling at me that it is infact a pink one. will know in 7 days!!

I like Alana, but like Alanis/Alani more.

Think we are pretty much stuck on Dexter William though. dp says no Blake. Our surname is C, so thats ok isnt it? DWC.

I like Gracie for a girl, so cute.

i finally did my presentation today at uni, but have found out a huge chiunk of my degree grade is in the form of a big presentation in the first week of may. i don't think so!!

I'm going to put my bump on later, about 7 ish me thinks. BTW, whoever is talking about weight again, im not yet 9 1/2 stone! (im 5'9) so i look like i have a football up there!

SuzeM · 15/11/2007 15:12

That was supposed to be "Think it is pronounced".

scorpio1 · 15/11/2007 15:13

noy pmsl! a boy

SuzeM · 15/11/2007 15:14

Gracie is cute. I'm adding it to my list. Thanks Scorpio!

paranoidmummy · 15/11/2007 15:26

oooh i like all this name talk, it makes it all feel exciting!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not too bothered about my weight gain; i can certainly handle only being 8 1/2 but it is just peeing me off that every single bloody person insists on commenting on my weight and how 'fat' i have got. especially men it seems... with beer bellies! like you mollyfloss mine has so far mainly gone on my arse and breasts after my tummy. my arms and legs aren't so bad. I love having boobies again tho, they had all but gone after breast feeding last time. Am now spilling out of my dd cups - wooohoo go baby keep giving mummy her boobies! I'm in a chirpy mood today

also by the end of my preg with ds i had gone from just over 7 to 12 stone - hee hee so i imagine i will be putting on plenty more! luckily it fell off pretty quickly so fingers crossed.

namewise i love love love isabella for a girlie. i like callum for a boy but dh doesn't. as i said tho... kefalonia etc...

Soph73 · 15/11/2007 15:27

Well, I´m off to pick up DS from swimming in a mo as DH has taken a sickie today so I´m allowed to shut the Library early Have good evenings everyone.

scampmum · 15/11/2007 15:39

The comments really got me last time. I'm hard to please, though, in that I get p1ssed off if someone says they can't tell, but I also get p1ssed off if someone says 'wow, look at you, getting really big'. Why can't people say 'ah, you're developing a lovely little bump there!' If they were really nice they could add '...but the rest of your body still looks like Gisele's'. Right, that's my new response to pregnant women. Do as you would be done by and all that.

paranoidmummy · 15/11/2007 15:40

lol lol lol at scampmum and the gisele comment. that would be fabulous. let's make a promise that from this day forth we will tell preggers people that. even if it is very very untrue!

MassiveMollyfloss · 15/11/2007 15:43

God scorpio, talk anout rubbing it in - not only are you only 22, but you're 5ft9 and at 4 months pregnant you don't even wieght 9.5 stone not fair!

suzyM - Ruairi is a really nice name. I really like Conor but it is getting very common. I like Eoin too. I love Cian also but that's my nephew's name and I encouraged my bro and SIL to call him that. I wish I had kept it for myself. For girls I really Fiona and Ciara but they are getting very common too and I like Cloda & Cliona too but my DH doesn't... if my dh had his way it would be Seamus for a boy and Oonagh for girl...

sagitta · 15/11/2007 15:44

I can't believe how big everyone seems to be. I only stopped wearing normal jeans today, and have a little bump, but not much. But then again, i'm trying to keep it a secret from loads of people at the moment (not sure why exactly).
I like the name Carrie, whoever suggested that (someone's MIL?). We are thinking Molly at the moment. My dh has really stupid suggestions too - it must be something about men. Socrates, ffs? I like Finn or Bert for a boy, but dh has ruled them out.
Thanks so much for the new shiny list, lemonaid and mollyfloss.
I've been a real SAHM today as DD is ill. And I've quite enjoyed it (although it's easy, as DD is very quiet and manageable!)
Now just working out how to get pizza and satay into the same meal...

EllieG · 15/11/2007 15:56

Oh I hate work I hate work I hate work

It's so busy and so stressful, I wish I could have the baby now and start maternity leave. I keep thinking, 'It's only til March...'

Sorry for moaning

Peachy · 15/11/2007 15:58

Dh wanted Anakin for ds1......

ToastAddict · 15/11/2007 15:59

lol scamp at time taken to spell name!!

Can I completely change topic? Or at least add another? Went to a thing at work today about maternity rights, pay etc, then they started talking about childcare, which to be honest I hadn't even thought about - I'm planning on having 12 months off, so figure I have a little time to think about it.

They mentioned childminders, which I assumed were hugely expensive, but having had a very quick look at ones in the area, they actually seem OK, possibly cheaper than nursery

Do any of you use childminders? Or thinking about it? Pros and cons? I quite like the idea for the slightly more one-to-one-ness of it, but maybe I'm making that up?

EllieG · 15/11/2007 16:00

My friend's LO wanted to call her new baby bro or sis 'Abu' after the monkey in Disney Aladdin
