Hello all - new thread here!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
VictorianSqualor · 12/11/2007 16:41

I have been feeling kicks for a few weeks, not hugel strong ones, and no flutters, but more like the baby is moving around and using me to turn itself over, however, I am 19weeks and it is my 3rd, so it's to be expected.

Peachy I have no idea with the allergy thing, so I'm afraid I can't help, good news on your interview though, eh

I'm determined to breastfeed this time, partly because I'm a lazy ass and I can't be bothered with bottles

Peachy · 12/11/2007 16:55

Soph that's the problem, the link is with ASD- which affects ds1 and ds3. So tehre were effects.

but I have to feed them something, and BM still seems to be the best from all the research I have seen.

Peachy · 12/11/2007 16:56

(if its allergies thata re the concern though BM is by far the best, that much I know- its the ASD trigger I am worried about)

lorisparkle · 12/11/2007 19:39

I know I am way behind the times again but anyway. When I was looking at pushchairs we did like the loola as well but when we asked they said the baby could not sleep overnight in the carry cot and we specifically wanted that so we could travel to the grandparents and not have to worry about taking a pushchair and a travel cot. We decided on the mamas and papas orb 3 in 1 which we got cheaper off the internet (baby boom I think). We absolutely love it and although my lo is now 16months we have never bought a cheaper, easy to fold, smaller, forward facing pushchair. We did buy a second hand 3 wheeler for the beach and for country walks but I just love my pushchair where my lo faces me.

There are now so many more pushchairs that face both ways but my big problem now is a double pushchair that the older one can face both ways. Three options are icandy pear (expensive, not ever seen one in a shop, meant to be heavy), firstwheels city (wide, not that small when folded, narrow seat for toddler) or sling / buggy board (been told 21months is too young) I thought choosing first pushchair was a nightmare but this is even worse!

Is anyone else feeling exhausted still. Can't work out whether it is just being pregnant with a toddler or do i need to speak to midwife / GP. I keep dropping things as well which again is either tiredness or just being pregnant!

Peachy - what a difficult decision to make. Congrats on interview and hope everything is going well with your other lo and school.

Denny185 · 12/11/2007 19:48

Peachy - well done on your interview, I hope you get the answers you need in Jan, it could be worse the next appointment could be in may.

Im hoping to BF again this time but am a little concerned with trying to entertain 18/12 old at the same time, especially in the early days if its anything like DS who used to feed for nearly an hour at a time.

Movement wise still nothing from this end, DD was really lazy and only really ever used to feel her have hiccups but DS started thrashing about from about 16/40. The only difference is this time still carrying a stone of the weight I put on with DS so this one has a lot more jelly belly to kick through.

Scan next Monday, on countdown!

gemprincess · 12/11/2007 19:50

I have no idea how im going to feed bump. My eldest was breast fed to start and thrived.. Though she does now suffer with asthma. My 2nd was breast fed at very start but i became ill so turned to bottle.. By 6 weeks she was crying constantly and suffering severe sickness and runny poo.. It took daily visits to hospital, weight loss etc until they did tests. At first they did a barrium x ray then we finally got to see a fantastic consulant who diagnosed adhesions and a lactose intolerance. Well she is 3 yrs and 3 months and finally been signed off from consultant.. My 3rd ended up in special care the day after birth for severe sickness. She was gravity fed for week, sent home still bein sick.. We knew it was lactose but took consultant etc to confirm so was bottle fed soya.sorry if nt making sense.... Guess this time i will go with the flow..

V1KK1M · 12/11/2007 19:51

elliegirl - I will be 20wks on Wednesday and I still haven't felt anything significant. I keep getting twinges (which I think could be kicks) but no butterflys I keep feeling sick so maybe I'm confusing nausier with butterfly feelings?!?! (and I'm not that big size 14-16).

I am getting really nervous about my scan on Thursday as I haven't felt anything yet and I don't think I am going to sleep well until I see the baby moving around and know that it is all OK.

I'm also feeling sorry for DH as I think
he is waiting for the kicks so he can feel part of it - at the moment all he is seeing is his wife getting fatter and developing a seriously bad attitude!!!

gemprincess · 12/11/2007 20:02

I had a jane powertwin with my youngest 2 and this time im lookin at the i candy pear.. Went to shop this weekend to see how it works.. looks great but they taking orders and selling as set for 530 without car seat.. Paid over 400 for jane and that seemed alot... Too much to think about i think....

bunyanvillas · 13/11/2007 05:54

A few questions for you all! Has anyone in the past - or are you using now - a maternity sleep pillow thingy? There are a few on the market - a V, a wedge and a full length one and I'm not sure which to go for. Also - slings - I have a Babybjorn which to be honest I hardly used with dd - am wondering about a hug-a-bub this time as the reviews seem good and I want something that I can use from birth. Also - for those of you with toddlers - are you using a buggy board? dd will be 3 when the baby arrives and she is currently not great at walking long distances - although obviously I want to encourage her to walk more at this point! FINAL question: where is your baby going to sleep during the day? In a moses basket or in a pram? (not sure what sort of buggy/pram to get although I know this has been discussed on here.) Sorry for all the questions

lemonaid · 13/11/2007 07:53

We had a long discussion about slings a little earlier on this thread (check out the posts around 7 November). If you like the look of the hug-a-bub I'd suggest you also look at the Didymos and the Close Baby Carrier.

lemonaid · 13/11/2007 07:58

I'll be happy if this baby just sleeps during the day, at all (DS's refusal to nap being what brought me and Mumsnet together in the first place). DS would only ever nap in his motorised swing, until he got a bit older and then tended to sleep on the floor of his playpen.

I think probably we're going to get an Amby hammock thing for night-time sleeping and I'll see how the baby feels about sleeping in that. I might wind up cosleeping for naps, though... very much playing it by ear at this stage.

Sheds75 · 13/11/2007 08:56

Morning all,
lorisparkle completely agree with the tired thing, thought I'd have much more energy by now (20wks today), but still soooo tired on a night.

TLSM · 13/11/2007 08:57

BV I had a bjorn last time and found that Monce Max hit about 10lbs it started to hurt my back I have bought a Bjorn Active this time as its suppose to stop the back problem. My sister has given me a really lovely moses basket which I will be keeping down stairs to use as am planning on Co sleeping with this little one like I did with Max

Soph73 · 13/11/2007 09:09

Morning all. DS slept in his pram at night & during the day until he moved to his cot at about 12 wks old. We´re hoping to do the same this time. We don´t have much money to spend so am not going to fork out for separate baskets, hammocks, etc.

Soph73 · 13/11/2007 09:12

I´ve recommended MN to another colleague of mine who is expecting her first in June. I raved about how lovely everyone was and how helpful so she´s going to register It´ll be nice to know someone in RL who understands what I´m raving on about.

scorpio1 · 13/11/2007 09:45

so many of you have been out buying lots of things already, im not starting until after we get married, too much to be thinking about! We love slings and will buy a bjorn active. i have got bottles and steriliser, and 2 packs of nappies. Yes, im bottlefeeding! and some sleepsuits in beigey colours, and thats about it! waiting to know what baby is before i buy some more bits, and that he is ok!

hope all well? im at uni today, do not want to be here.

lulabell79 · 13/11/2007 09:45

Morning everyone, not been around for a while as been ridiculously busy at work. Hope everyone's doing well.

I've got a slightly embarassing problem and I appologise in advance if it's TMI....just been a bit worried so I thought i would see if anyone had any advide. I had sex with my DH the other night and then the next evening I had a thick jelly like discharge. I'm worried this could be my mucus plug? Has anyone else experienced this or am panicking about nothing? if it is is this serious? Had a quick look on the internet but you get so much info that you don't quite know where to begin.

scorpio1 · 13/11/2007 09:46

its just 'products' nothing to worry about as long as there is no blood. normal pg discharge can look like that anyway, and what with other things in there, it does get a bit much!

lulabell79 · 13/11/2007 09:50

Thanks scorpio...no blood so I will relax and try and stop being such a worry merchant

scorpio1 · 13/11/2007 09:51

its ok, we all worry-this is my 3rd and i still cant really enjoy it until my 20 wk scan, week thursday now!

Soph73 · 13/11/2007 10:04

Pleased I´m not the only worry wart around Had to pounce on my DH the other evening , sorry if TMI as he worries that he´ll either hurt me or beanie. He was the same when I was pg with DS - very frustrating indeed

EllieG · 13/11/2007 10:09

Hey all - hope everyone is well. Been away for a few days so will catch up on everyone's posts later, but in meantime, to all

OP posts:
Peachy · 13/11/2007 10:17

Lulabell also have 3 kids and I can promise that sounds normal- and that I panic every time too LOL

EllieG · 13/11/2007 11:03

Quick moan sorry - went for a walk yesterday and my hips hurt sooooo much now. Doc said was not uncommon as ligaments getting all stretchy but am tired and achey and I don't want to be at work.

OP posts:
Peachy · 13/11/2007 11:27

hips or pelvis Ellie? If hips I wouldn't worry too much, if pelvis isnhurting it might be the start of SPD (symphisis pubis dysfundtion). A Physio can help a lot with this if it gets abd, and in my alst PG it just emant wearing a belt / trying to move in certain ways. Do ask your MW for a referral though if it happens much.
