Hello all - new thread here!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
VictorianSqualor · 12/11/2007 12:49

I had Ella about 7weeks before my twentieth too, just hit the teenage mum target! A lot of my friends had kids around the time we were leaving school, I think I was one of the few that didnt!
I had to read your post a few times, but yes I am still with you!!

scorpio1 · 12/11/2007 12:52

only a few girls had babies so young in my year at school, most of them i think have one now though. AFAIK, im the only one with more than 2 now

VictorianSqualor · 12/11/2007 12:53

Ha, just looked at your pics, why is it children lose the ability to smile properly for a few years??? my DD always looks like she should be in a wallace and gromit film!

scorpio1 · 12/11/2007 12:56

PMSL @ wallace and gromit-i particularly like Chicken run!

TheMaskedPoster · 12/11/2007 13:23

hi all

LOL at the Wallace and Gromit comment. We got dds photo from nursery last week and both dh and I said she looked like a Wallace and Gromit character - poor love!

Right - gonna catch up on the rest of the thread now ...

TheMaskedPoster · 12/11/2007 13:42

Right, firstly Congrats Gemprincess and tlsm on their boys! WOW.

I am still in the mind of not wanting to find out at the 20 week scan (next Thurs) so think I'll be strong and stick to that(although it would be nice to know...).

I love the name Dexter too Scorpio but dh doesn't like it (and mentioned both the cartoon and Dynesty )so vetoed that one for us.

I have a cold at the moment - nothing too bad, just a runny nose and had a sore throat for a day or two, mutter mutter.

We still don't know if we are going to bother with a new pram (system) type thing, or just get a buggy etc... the problem is there are too many on the market!!

Hope all are well and good luck for all the scan-ees this week

xx

VictorianSqualor · 12/11/2007 13:58

I went out with DP's mum, nan, auntie and the kids at the weekend, and was discussing buggies, I said I liked the loola and dp's mum stopped some woman in the queue for facepainting to ask her about hers!!
Anyway, having got his mum onside I took him to mothercare yesterday and we are totally decided on the loola.
Also showed him the bedside cot/co-sleeper and got the ok for that too.
We had a look at the breastpumps and they had a message on the side next to them saying 'ask a member of staff for a demonstration'

scorpio1 · 12/11/2007 14:02

we are having a loola too, they are lovely and people who i know who have them, love them, so thats good enough for me! plus want baby to have a carrycot this time. we are having grey me thinks.

Soph73 · 12/11/2007 14:04

Blimey scorpio I´m confused enough as it is at the moment without you complicating matters One of my colleagues has just found out she´s having a boy, must be the week for it. Can´t wait for mine

Soph73 · 12/11/2007 14:19

LOL at the thought of a member of staff demonstrating a breast pump. Actually, that´s not conjuring up very pleasant visual images

Peachy · 12/11/2007 14:34

PMSL VS

Am a bit confused about feeding atm, I bf last one to 16 months (and did the Unicef babyfriendly course at work actually), fed the toehrs too but DS1 didn't thrive on it (reacted to the milk proteins). Plan this time was to BF then introduce soya, as want to keep off gluten and casein for 3 years due to the autism thing. Anyhow, was told alst week that BM might be a bad choice due to my eczma / allergies....hmmmmm...... somehow suspect I'll stick t the BM/ Soya route but confused now, fortuantely will nbe seeinga specialist nutritionist i January for ds3's asessments anyhow.

Oh ahd my interview- have beena ccepted subject purely to a pass at any lvel. had loads of interests in common with Prof which helped.

TheMaskedPoster · 12/11/2007 14:48

Oh - BIG well done on your interview Peachy!

Soph73 · 12/11/2007 14:51

Congrats peachy. I´m sure your specialist will be able to advise properly but surely if your other children weren´t affected by your eczma/allergies then this one won't .... or am I being silly?

elliegirl · 12/11/2007 15:45

elliegirl · 12/11/2007 15:59

Thanks scorpio1. I'm 17 weeks now and this is my first pregnancy. I'm probably being very impatient! It's just that - if I'm honest - it's a bit of a boring period at the moment! I'm not feeling any significant symptoms and it's ages away until my next scan (Dec 13). Should just be happy with the fact that I'm not feeling rough at the moment and can still get a good night's sleep. E

lemonaid · 12/11/2007 16:00

I didn't feel DS (first baby) until around 23 weeks. This time (second baby, and I'm no thinner) I felt first (v occasional) flutters at around 14 weeks. I'm still only getting flutters rather than kicks, though -- rather looking forward to the full-on, travel-right-across-your-belly type kicks soon (I remember lying in the bath and just watching my belly... and they say people can't make their own entertainment any more!).

(I will thank you all not to remind me that I said that when I am complaining in due course about said kicks keeping me awake all night )

lemonaid · 12/11/2007 16:01

(asking dim pregnant-witted question) Are elliegirl and EllieG the same person or different people?

3madboys · 12/11/2007 16:04

sorry to but in, i am on the due feb thread, anyway i just noticed peachys bit about bm not being good with eczma and allergies? i have sevre eczma, asthma and hayfever and a host of allergies, and i bfed all three boys, will be feeding the bump. i withheld dairy, wheat etc till they were over 18mths to help avoid allergies, also potatoes as they are from the nightingale family until over 12mths.

anyway it is meant to help ensure that children dont have allergies, and so far my three seem ok

good luck to you all with your twenty week scans xxxx

Soph73 · 12/11/2007 16:09

lemonaid - I´m not sure what I´m feeling at the moment. Like I said earlier the bubbly feelings have gone & now nothing seems to be happening, although while doing the ironing last night I thought I felt something. I think I´m just winding myself up though!

elliegirl · 12/11/2007 16:18

Fear not lemonaid, you aren't being pregnant-witted! We are in fact different people. However, coincidentally, we do have the same edd (17 April).

I too would like to start feeling some major movement, but I suspect I'll regret saying that after several nights of disturbed sleep.

lemonaid · 12/11/2007 16:22

I am definitely being pregnant-witted (I said "strawberries" when I meant "sausages" yesterday, and in fact am constantly saying the wrong word). But it's nice to know that I'm not being any worse than normal in this context...

Soph73 · 12/11/2007 16:37

lemonaid - I´m lucky if I can get a full sentence out these days All students now have to finish sentences for me. At least when I typing messages to you lovely ladies I can look at it before I post & correct all the ridiculous mistakes

Soph73 · 12/11/2007 16:38

But even then I managed to get it wrong I meant when "I'm" typing, oh dear!
