Thanks for all the 16th week appointment answers! Mine was through telephone only. And so will my 25th.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a comfy pregnancy pillow and any tips on sleeping comfortably on the side? I can't seem to get some good night's sleep. 😅

Smallbean27 · 25/03/2021 11:52

@Alsh I am struggling to sleep on my side with hip pain, so tend to sleep more on my front but angled to the side. I put my pregnancy pillow under my leg which leaves room for my belly. (I don't have much of a bump so not sure this will work in the long term!) But I have been sleeping better since so I will just go with it! Hope you find a solution

lucyrp · 25/03/2021 12:00

Here's a pic of my daffodils I bought on a food shop. Was surprised that they were of the frilly variety but made me think of you girls on here! Aren't they lovely ☀️

Thanks @Alittlexmasmagic - I have gotten a coccyx cushion recently which helps. I just bought a pregnancy pillow (Bellamoon) so hoping this will also assist. It zips into different parts so you can try different configurations.
By the way, I hope you're feeling a bit better after your difficult week Flowers

Daffodil21 · 25/03/2021 12:08

@lucyrp they are lovely! They made me smile/almost cry?! I've got my 20 week scan at 2 😩 if all is ok I'm going to buy myself some daffodils afterwards Daffodil

Jessicapebbles · 25/03/2021 12:29

Hi ladies!

Had my 20 week scan this morning and baby girl is looking all healthy with very long legs 😂

I can’t remember who it was, but one of the ladies on here also has crohns and had their Covid vaccine...I just wanted to see how she got on after having it? Now we know baby is all healthy I’ve booked in for Sunday but I feel like I just need a bit of a pep talk!

Lovely @Jessicapebbles !

Just had mine and also all seems ok! Off to buy some daffodils and indulge myself and buy some cute clothes!

Good luck to everyone else x

Millymay13 · 25/03/2021 16:12

@lucyrp those are beautiful daffodils!

@Jessicapebbles that’s great news about your scan. I had my covid vaccine (Astra Zeneca) a couple of weeks ago in the morning (I think about 9am). It was also the first day back in the office/working in clinic so I definitely overdid it that day. I hardly felt the injection and was ok all day - felt a bit tired and headachey by the afternoon but I think that was just from being busy to be honest. At about 6.30/7pm suddenly I felt poorly, like coming down with the flu, so I wrapped myself up with a duvet and hot water bottle plus a paracetamol. The next day I had aches and pains all over and really tired (again just like getting poorly), and I think I was completely better by about 3-4 days after. I did feel rotten but the side effects were just the ‘very common’ ones from the leaflet and I was just glad that I knew they would be over soon, rather than covid which you don’t know when it’ll be over and could turn really nasty. Now I feel absolutely fine and I had a private scan last weekend to check on baby who was happy and looking good. Some people hardly get any side effects at all so you could be one of those, but if not just take it easy and you’ll be feeling better soon.

From what I read about the vaccines beforehand, whilst there’s been no studies with pregnant women, the way the vaccine works means that the scientists have no suspicion it could harm the baby. The trials on animals (rats maybe?) have shown no issues with offspring after they’ve been given the vaccine too. And there’s been a couple of things I’ve read recently about babies of vaccinated women having some immunity when they are born which is brilliant if it is the case.

I’ve really gone on there, sorry!

WolfMother326 · 25/03/2021 18:26

Hi @Jessicapebbles what a gorgeous scan photo! so glad everything went well.

I'm the one who has Crohns and has been fully vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine. My 20w scan is tomorrow morning and I'll report back, but I think everything is fine as I had a brief cervical scan on Monday and the baby was healthy with a good heartbeat, and I've been feeling tons of movements. Hope you can get the jab soon! Just plan to take paracetemol to avoid fever.

biscuitcat · 25/03/2021 18:36

Beautiful daffodils @lucyrp, they're just the most joyful flowers aren't they?

And congratulations @Daffodil21 and @Jessicapebbles!

I'm due to have my covid jab on Saturday, and hoping it all goes OK - my GP told me about one pregnant woman she heard of who was turned away, I've no idea why, but keep worrying it'll happen to me! As reassurance, I saw something today that Pfizer and Moderna have both just been found in the US to be safe for pregnant women and their babies, and also that antibodies can be passed on through the placenta and breast milk, which has made me feel really positive about getting it (and I imagine the Oxford one is similar, though not an immunologist!)

lucyrp · 25/03/2021 18:38

@Daffodil21 hope everything went okay at your scan. Been thinking of you x

@Millymay13 they're beautiful aren't they! Hopefully will get some more when these ones die. Just a lovely bright flower to have in the house! X

@biscuitcat I love them! And yellow roses are also one of my favourites. And tulips 🥰

Daffodil21 · 25/03/2021 18:51

@lucyrp it did thank you - such a relief! Went a little overboard on buying baby clothes afterwards though 😂 I know things can still go wrong but decided to just start enjoying it now and hope for the best...

Those of you worried about movements - she said he was wriggling around loads but she wouldn't expect me to be able to feel anything for another week or so, so try not to worry if you haven't felt anything yet

BertieBotts · 25/03/2021 18:53

I'm not allowed to have the vaccine here but DH is as a contact-person of me so I will be booking him in tomorrow. Would have booked it today but the online system is down.

I have just survived the online parent's evening for DS1's school. This is not where you talk to teachers about your child but where everyone tediously discusses any issues important to the class. Anyway I understood very little of it and once I realised I could turn my video off I just did that and tuned out :o

lucyrp · 25/03/2021 19:05

@Daffodil21 aw yay! I went for a check up this afternoon after my incident yesterday and heard their heart beating away she also said she saw my tummy ripple from them moving while she was trying to do the Doppler but I didn't feel anytning! Odd !

Daffodil21 · 25/03/2021 19:09

@lucyrp so pleased to hear! It's so odd isn't it when you know they're moving lots because you can see it on the screen etc, but you just can't feel it!

Hoares3 · 25/03/2021 19:18

@biscuitcat I got turned away from my COVID jab about 2 months ago things might have changed now. They asked if I was pregnant and as soon as I said yes they said they were not happy to continue 😕 I have been reluctant to rebook because of that! I have worked throughout the pandemic in a special needs nursery where it is impossible to social distance and I am asthmatic so the doctors even backed up my need for the vaccine! I'm hoping things change and it becomes more mainstream for pregnant ladies 🤞🤞🤞 let me know if you manage to get it I really would like to get it

Smurf123 · 25/03/2021 19:45

Congrats on scans @Jessicapebbles and @Daffodil21
@Daffodil21 how many weeks are you now??
My scan on Monday has just been cancelled 😫 I sobbed 🙈 they hope to rebook it ASAP. The consultant has had to go off

HopefulB · 25/03/2021 19:45

Hi all,

Lots to catch up on! Hope all are well - nice to see 20week scan outcomes coming through Smile and loving the daffodil pics Daffodil

Feeling relived that I have managed to get a departmental management meeting moved as it clashed with my scan - I felt a bit cheeky asking, but they would have struggled if I didn’t attend as we need to discuss strategy for covering my mat. leave!

No definite movements here yet- I keep wondering if I feel something when going to bed, but really not sure!

@Hoares3 with regards your COVID vaccine, a lot of places are using a type of protocol which means a nurse can do screening/consent/vaccination, which is very efficient, but would need to exclude anyone who doesn’t fit specific criteria. Pregnancy will be a situation where you would need to have discussed with a prescriber and they would take responsibility for discussing the risks/benefits and agreeing it was appropriate for you. So you may need to approach your own GP to find out where this could happen if you want the vaccine.
I have no doubt as soon as the trials are complete pregnant and lactating women will be encouraged to come forwards.

LyraShaeLilly · 25/03/2021 19:51

Good news on the scans and lovely daffodils.

I have been worrying since I came home from work, how do you know if you are leaking amniotic fluid? Can discharge (which I know increases in pregnancy) leave the same wet patches as amniotic fluid. Would an amniotic fluid leak be lots of fluid, rather than a just a damp patch?

This happened a couple of days ago also and I decided that if it was amniotic fluid I would definitely know about it? But after some time on google I'm not so sure?

Sorry for TMI.

Kiki275 · 25/03/2021 19:54

@LyraShaeLilly it's likely to be discharge, I think an amniotic fluid leak would be more constant. I had issues like you described in my last pregnancy and it was just discharge. If it continues you can get an internal swab test which is pretty instant at confirming whether it's fluid or not x

ElonaWise · 25/03/2021 19:55

Ah thank you @Daffodil21 - baby's Father is still not engaging at all, so I am continuing to power on alone.

I had my twenty week scan, baby growing fine. I have lost 20lbs since my appointment in Jan, so down to a more healthy weight and so the risk of diabetes has dramatically decreased now. I'm am still overweight, but definitely more of an average size 14 now.

Pregnancy alone is tough but mostly just trying to stay positive. Ordered the kally U pillow which I love!! I think everyone should have one.

I haven't bought the baby anything yet, but will around 30 weeks.

Also, do you know if there's an FB group to join as we approach August? I've heard from friends they are on one. I have a hypno birthing course in June and a 3 day NCT course too. Also reading all the books, so should hopefully be up to speed, even if I am doing it alone.

Hope everyone is well. Sorry I miss some of the chat, I only pop in once a week or so. x

Alittlexmasmagic · 25/03/2021 20:04

@ElonaWise at least you'll not have to consider him in any of the niceties such as name etc. Glad everything is going well x

There is a FB group but I've not joined yet, probably will do once I'm safely through 20 week malarkey. The details are a few threads back but someone might be able to update x

@Daffodil21 yes so odd ! Can't wait to see them again next Tuesday 🥰

Daffodil21 · 25/03/2021 20:17

@Smurf123 20 weeks today! Oh no that so annoying! Especially as you kind of have to get yourself geared up for them!

@ElonaWise sorry to hear that but you'll be fab without him ❤️

LyraShaeLilly · 25/03/2021 20:22

@Kiki275

I think your right, there just seems to be a lot of it to be discharge!!
