@Whatshouldbemyusername - haha, same here. My 5 minutes of expert research indicates boy.

Caz1226 · 02/03/2021 14:15

Hi everyone
Just a quick one I mentioned before I am getting stomach ache quite often now- are hot water bottles ok to use?
Xx

ElonaWise · 02/03/2021 14:38

Hey @BertieBotts not sure if that's the updated list as I can't see myself on it unless I'm going blind.

Hope everyone is well.

@Caz1226 I was wondering about the hot water bottle too and found an NHS Leeds post that says it was OK, but maybe the ladies here know a bit more.

I had my regular catch up with the babies Dad on Sunday to have a walk and chat co-parenting. Somehow, rather than making me feel more supported I feel even more alone. Anyone else on here going through pregnancy alone that wants to connect?

@PurplePansy05 are you feeling settled in after your move?

LottSE20 · 02/03/2021 14:42

Hi ladies
Last night I had terrible cramps - so bad I couldn’t sleep. They were v much like period pains rather than round ligament pains (which I’ve also had and feel a lot sharper). Today the cramps have eased but I have a low ache down there.
Do you think I should be worried? I tried to call the midwife but they haven’t returned my call.

Champson · 02/03/2021 15:18

Thanks ladies for all the support!! Difficult decision to move and be a pest but for the best. @Alittlexmasmagic - yes signed up to Tamba and loads of their online courses 😅, thanks for the recommendation!! Am also on aspirin, iron, vit D and fragmin shots now. And the calories thing is from a book recommended on my triplet mums FB group, written by American doctors. I checked it with my uncle who is an American gynaecologist and he said to eat as much as I can but not to force it. Will be asking new team about all this at first meeting for sure! Xx

Alittlexmasmagic · 02/03/2021 15:29

@Champson fragmin shots, you poor thing!! Sounds like you're surrounding yourself with the right people. I bet there's so much to take in. Keeping everything crossed that it all goes really straightforward for you xx

PurplePansy05 · 02/03/2021 15:32

Getting there @ElonaWise, thanks! I'll truly settle when it looks how we want it to look in the summer. But we've unpacked the living room, kitchen, bathroom and our clothes and it's really helped 😊 This should see us through the reno. It's also sparkling clean now, to my standard, which made me breath out 🤣

@LottSE20 I've not had any period like cramps and pains in the second trimester. This was very much the usual thing in the first trimester. Where are they located, near your cervix? If so I'd be ringing the MW again and possibly arrange for a private scan if they don't offer you one, just to be on the safe side. xx

LottSE20 · 02/03/2021 15:44

@PurplePansy05 no they are more like where my uterus would be. Basically exactly like period pains. I too haven’t had any since earlier weeks which is why I’m worried. Annoying the midwife e mailed me to say I should call the EPU - who are now closed :(

PurplePansy05 · 02/03/2021 15:47

@LottSE20 Are there any other EPUs local to you that are still open? Or could you get a private reassurance scan? I would remain positive but I can totally understand why you want to be checked over, I'd be the same too. xx

Alittlexmasmagic · 02/03/2021 15:50

@LottSE20 I presented to A&E with a bleed when EPU were closed. I then got referred up to Gynae. Definitely get checked out. It might involve lots of waiting around but someone should be able to advise x

biscuitcat · 02/03/2021 16:01

@Caz1226 I asked something similar on here the other day about hot water bottles as I was freezing and was told it's OK as it's not like a sauna/hot bath where your body can't cook down as everywhere is hot, so I've cracked on!

@Inmypjsagain I've been wondering about this too. Originally I wanted quite a small age gap, as I have that with my sisters and liked that, but now it's actually happening I think I'm leaning more towards having 2/3 years as I want time to get back into work properly. I'm also only 29, so hopefully age won't present a problem for me. I know DH wants a smaller gap - but it's not his career or his body so I'm not so inclined to listen to him 😂

@ElonaWise I'm sorry it's tough for you at the moment. I know I've found even with DH it can be a lonely time so without that emotional support from a partner it must be really tricky. I hope someone's along soon to offer advice and experienced support for you, but we're all always around here too for you 💕

BertieBotts · 02/03/2021 16:20

@LottSE20 yes I agree - A&E is the next port of call when EPU isn't available.

OP posts:
PurplePansy05 · 02/03/2021 16:22

but it's not his career or his body - completely agree @biscuitcat, I came to really understand it now. It's not a breeze to go through and juggling things won't be easy on us as mothers. xx

Alittlexmasmagic · 02/03/2021 16:31

@LottSE20 if in doubt before presenting at A&E give triage a call. Pretty sure they're the first port of call after 15 weeks in our Trust. Please do get seen though xx

CountryGirl84 · 02/03/2021 16:51

Hello ladies, sorry I'm so slow at responding.

@Daffodil21 & @PurplePansy05 I'm sorry for your previous losses, I can only imagine how you're both feeling. PurplePansy05 I think it's amazing you're lasting until 17 weeks for a scan but I agree I'm the same as you and get scanxiety. Just knowing the scan is happening is scary enough. I think I will try and last until 17 weeks too and then have something to hold on for.

@HopefulB thanks for the recap. I'm happy for you to add me to the list. I'm also EDD 29th August so looks like we have same date with @diamante11 Smile I'm also TBC for the sex. I had the NIPT blood test but my hubby and I decided to wait until the 20 week scan so we can guess a bit longer.

@Inmypjsagain - I've also just ordered from Bravissimo! But yes I'm worried about spending too much if they're just going to grow again. I might just keep one for now too and see how I go.

@Champson congrats on having triplets! That's very exciting. Can't believe the consultant didn't show you or give any pictures. Lucky you're moving hospitals but are you having to travel much further away?

LottSE20 · 02/03/2021 17:06

Thanks all for the advice. Triage in our trust is from 16w unfortunately so I’m just short of that. And it’s the same midwife team who were pretty abrupt about me calling EPU. They said to go to A&E if it gets worse and it seems to have eased off so I might hold out until the morning and call them when they reopen. I tried all the private clinics and no appts available, but I will book if EPU won’t scan me tomorrow.

LaceyMermaid · 02/03/2021 17:09

@Fran919 I would chase up your results but they call you quickly when there’s a problem.

I’ve had a really horrible last week. I got a call within 2 days of my screening bloods and scan and I’m now still waiting for my new results. I came out high risk for DS so opted to have NIPT (I’m 38) first to see what that says. If that comes back high I’ll have to think about have the amnio. It’s all very scary and the waiting is agonising. My work had definitely suffered!

@Inmypjsagain There will be an 18 year age gap between this one and my eldest, and then 16 and 13 between my others and this one. Never quite got round to having another one and decided I better try and see what happened last summer! 🙈

CountryGirl84 · 02/03/2021 17:09

Sorry also just realised I hadn't refreshed my page and very behind on the convo so some might be out of date Blush

CountryGirl84 · 02/03/2021 17:22

@LaceyMermaid I'm sorry to hear what you're going through. I've been reading a book called 'Expecting Better' and it goes into the risks of miscarriage with amnio and it's much less than they statically give you, because the data is based on really old studies (from 1980s and 1990s!). It's definitely worth reading if you want to weigh up your options and will put your mind at ease. The risk is much much lower x

diamante11 · 02/03/2021 17:24

Hello everyone, hope everyone is doing well. We had a scan last week as I don't think it will feel real until I can feel her moving around, I'm only just over 14 weeks and so I'm having scans here and there when I can. I know a lovely doctor who gives me a great price and fits me in as and when I feel the need :)) he managed to get a little 4d imagine for us last week, obviously they get better the further along you are but I thought it was cute and wanted to share it with you 💖💖

PurplePansy05 · 02/03/2021 17:53

@LaceyMermaid I agree with @CountryGirl84, I read a lot about amnio before deciding to have NIPT in the event it proved required. The risks of MC as they are still presented are outdated because they do not differentiate between MC caused by amnio and MC occuring naturally due to chromosomal or genetic issue with the baby. The latter is clearly a completely different scenario, unrelated to amnio and sadly unavoidable. Obviously if this is the route you wish to take it's best if you have a detailed discussion with your doctor first. Keeping everything crossed for you 🙏 xx

PurplePansy05 · 02/03/2021 17:56

Also re high results, it is just that don't forget- higher risk, depending on the condition in respect of which the high risk result came back, the likelohood of your LO actually having it is really varied and in a lot of cases it's absolutely fine. 💐 xx

LaceyMermaid · 02/03/2021 18:34

@PurplePansy05 @CountryGirl84 thank you both. It’s very scary as I’d obviously thought about it happening (as with my last child I had a high risk result for spina bifida - was easily given a yes or no with a scan the same day for that though) but it all feels very different when it’s actually happening. I’m not keen on the amnio, I know the risk is small but it’s scary. I came out 1 in 88 of DS so not too high but still higher than NHS cut off of 1 in 150. My NT was within normal range but at the higher end, bloods fine except slightly raised hcg (but not as raised as it often is with DS) and obviously my age at 38 won’t have helped either. They said I should have NIPT back anytime from tomorrow to Friday so I’m just trying to keep positive. Not seen a doctor or anything just the specialist midwife who wasn’t that great and said ‘didn’t you know the risks at your age?’ Which I did not find too helpful! Clearly I did but I also have many friends having babies/ have had babies at my age of older who haven’t had a high risk result. Anyway I’m just keeping 🤞🏻

Inmypjsagain · 02/03/2021 18:38

@biscuitcat @Whatshouldbemyusername @BertieBotts @wimbler @PurplePansy05 @lucyrp @HangryDoughnut @Smurf123 @MrsB2019x @Alittlexmasmagic @laceymermaid thank you all for your replies (I’m sorry if I didn’t tag everyone) definitely given me food for thought. I think I have 35 as an age block in my head, perhaps unnecessarily! I think maybe our conversation is also coming from a place of complete naivety for firstly how hard it will tiredness wise, but also we were lucky and got pregnant first cycle... so we’re looking at this very idealistically. Similarly I was signed off for a month with sickness, so if I was working full time, with a toddler coupled with pregnancy... I am exhausted at the thought! So the my body and my career really point resonates. Also interesting to see a range of age gaps, so really I shouldn’t be caught up on that either and a lot will come down to feeling ready. Fully also take on board the fact that plans don’t always go to plan! Thank you all again I really appreciate your responses

Inmypjsagain · 02/03/2021 18:44

@BertieBotts glad to hear DS enjoyed nursery, does this mean more chill time for you?

@CountryGirl84 excited for my order to get here. My mum told me to buy loads of new bras but I’m just stingy lol

@diamante11 aw that is a lovely photo! Already a cutie! How exciting! I understand about movements, I noticed in my notes the other day that I have anterior placenta so I imagine I’ll be booking all sorts of scans if I’m not feeling much!

@LaceyMermaid fingers crossed for you! I’d love to say I can’t believe the midwife said that to you but actually I can... I’ve been very surprised by my midwife experience so far. Hope the results come back quickly for you xxx
