Good luck everyone with scans coming up! I'm holding out until the 20 week one I think, I was a nervous wreck leading up to the 12 week but I feel much calmer now so hoping that holds! What helps I think is that my 16 week appointment isn't till nearly 18 weeks so I've only got about 2.5 weeks after that to wait.

@Champson so glad all was OK at the scan, but what a disappointment that your consultant was still rubbish and you didn't get pics. Thoroughly justifies your decision to move though!

Champson · 01/03/2021 23:21

Thanks ladies!! It’s fine re pics really since we will be having scans every two weeks or so. But the last straw was I was reading a book about triplet pregnancy which said I should be eating 4000 calories a day (wtf!!), and NO ONE told me that from the hospital. Just makes me not trust them at all. No one even took my weight today. So disorganised. Anyway good riddance!! @MrsB2019xThink next one will be two weeks’ time in Oxford now at the JR. and then every two weeks ongoing.

BertieBotts · 02/03/2021 05:38

Bon Prix surprisingly do a decent babywearing/maternity coat if anyone is looking out for one! They are discounted about now because they're going into their summer stock, so would be a good time to buy.

PurplePansy05 · 02/03/2021 07:45

Is Bon Prix sending to the UK without extra taxes and charges? Post Brexit they've been bastard high from EU countries (big cry from me as I used to order a lot from the EU and also for my mum).

@Champson that's bad, I'm so glad you'll have better care now. I can imagine the awkwardness at that scan, it'll be quite funny to look back at it, but I bet it was cringeworthy then! Glad your LOs are ok ❤❤❤

@Whatshouldbemyusername I hope you feel better soon 💐 It's a good job you have the note it's pregnancy related, they should consider it as normal sickness and pay you accordingly but they need to disregard it from the POV of disciplinary, redundancy etc. as that would constitute discrimination. As long as you have the note linking to pregnancy, you're covered. Now relax and rest as much as possible 😊

@MrsB2019x I knew you'd cave in 🤣 Hope all goes well and I'm putting my bet on a girl! xx

BertieBotts · 02/03/2021 07:51

Not sure - I was thinking there might be a UK version of their site? I'm sure I remember a Bon Prix store on the UK High Street but I might be remembering wrong.

Anyway here all the small and medium sizes are sold out of the reduced ones so it seems I'm too late!

@PurplePansy05 So did I ☹️ and kinda knew DH would cave too! I’m placing bets on a girl too. DH thinks it’s a boy because he thinks all these old wives tales and skull/nub theories are full of shit so he is just being stubborn and going the other way for the sake of it 🤣 will be interesting to see who’s right!

Jessicapebbles · 02/03/2021 08:38

@MrsB2019x. Our nub theory was spot on! I even went back and looked at my daughters 12 week scan and nub theory was right as well! You never know 🤭💖💙

MrsB2019x · 02/03/2021 09:01

@Jessicapebbles Exactly! We’ll see 🤭

WolfMother326 · 02/03/2021 09:16

Ok I can't resist all this skull/nub theory talk. My husband really wants to be surprised so I am not going to intentionally find out/if I see anything I won't tell him, but I am very curious and thinking we are having a boy based on skull theory. Thoughts? This was our last scan at 13+3.

Alittlexmasmagic · 02/03/2021 09:24

@Champson that sounds like terrible treatment but at least you're moving. With such a high risk pregnancy you need to have absolute faith in your medical teams.
That calorie intake sounds rather high, I can't remember being advised anything other than a small dose of aspirin and maintaining good nutrition. Have you joined Tamba yet?x

Inmypjsagain · 02/03/2021 09:27

Morning ladies,

Potential odd question, but those of you thinking of having number 2 or are on number 2/3/4 etc what are your age gaps? I was talking to DH last night and we were saying if we’re going to have a number 2 we should just for it, I’m 34 and ideally wouldn’t want to wait too long (this is on the assumption we don’t suffer secondary infertility or any other issues of course) but breastfeeding hampers your fertility as it stops you ovulating? Anyone had experience of that? I do realise by the time LO gets here I could be laughing at myself and the ridiculousness of this question as I’m sure I’ll be knackered and sore... but it’s just something I’m pondering.

@WolfMother326 I’m pretty useless as this but I’ll guess boy too!

Inmypjsagain · 02/03/2021 09:29

@Champson so glad to hear all babies doing well but what a pain with that consultant!!! Hope your one in 2 weeks goes well and you get to see someone else!

MrsB2019x · 02/03/2021 09:34

@WolfMother326 Yep from skull I’d say boy!

@Inmypjsagain I’m only on my first and haven’t discussed siblings with DH but personally I’d like to start TTC when they’re around 2, looking for a birth when they are 3. They’re (generally) out of nappies by then, and they will have 30 hours of funded childcare so wouldn’t have to worry about childcare costs when scraping by on SMP!

Smurf123 · 02/03/2021 09:54

@Inmypjsagain all being well this will be baby number 2 for us. Ds turns 3 on Friday and will start nursery school in September though likely to only be a half day session so 2.5 hours a day (we don't have the 30 hours free in ni) but my mum will mind him after nursery so won't need childcare for him from end of June this year.

BertieBotts · 02/03/2021 09:59

@Inmypjsagain my gaps are 10 years and 3 years. Was still feeding DS2 through the night when we conceived so breastfeeding doesn't necessarily stop you ovulating - although some women do find it harder to conceive while breastfeeding.

BertieBotts · 02/03/2021 10:00

So excited for a smaller gap at I've always wanted two little ones together! I'm sure it will be hard but lots of lovely moments too.

OP posts:
Alittlexmasmagic · 02/03/2021 10:01

@Inmypjsagain my gap will be almost exactly 3 years. DS was due 17th Aug and born 31st Aug. This one is due 22nd.
I BF DS until 14 months, weaning at 6 months. My cycles had returned to normal by this point, we then tried for no. 2 at this point with the aim of having 2 under 2. The pregnancy resulted in a loss but both had an impact on my body and cycles never regulated, so it took longer to conceive. I'll be 36 this August x

HangryDoughnut · 02/03/2021 10:37

@Inmypjsagain This is baby no.2 and DD will turn 2 in July so almost exactly 2 year gap. I didn't get my periods back until she was 1 and she was still nursing pretty regularly. I am starting to think a 2 year old and newborn is slightly insane though, especially as DD doesn't go to nursery😬

wimbler · 02/03/2021 11:16

@Inmypjsagain our age gap will be 2years and 7 months. If you asked me before I had children I would have expected to have a smaller age gap but in reality I didn't feel ready before our daughter was nearly 2. As it turns out we were extremely fortunate and I fell pregnant on our first cycle of trying for #2

lucyrp · 02/03/2021 11:34

@Inmypjsagain my age gap will be 6 years but this is my OH first. I probably will wait until this one is in school until having a next one x

BertieBotts · 02/03/2021 11:40

DS2 had a great time at nursery and I'm going to drop him off earlier tomorrow 🥳

OP posts:
PurplePansy05 · 02/03/2021 11:52

@Inmypjsagain I'm 34 too and planning for DC2 for around when my boy is 3-4, so that he gets 30 hours free childcare or starts school. Having saud that, with my history I've learned not to plan too much, I was supposed to be a mum at 32 and we know how that went. The older we get the higher the risk, although this doesn't deter me. I think we'll start TTC again when my boy is 2+ yo. I don't think I personally could face another round of TTC & pregnancy sooner with a toddler to look after as well.

@WolfMother326 On the fence with your photo but I'm leaning towards a boy! What's your gut instinct? xx

WolfMother326 · 02/03/2021 11:58

@PurplePansy05 gut instinct is definitely boy (keep dreaming about him), but of course will be equally happy if we have a little girl!

Carefree1 · 02/03/2021 12:24

@Champson so glad little ones are doing well 🥰. I don’t blame you in the slightest changing consultants, I hope that you’re journey is better moving forward.

@Whatshouldbemyusername glad you got signed off, use this time to relax and hopefully you’ll start to feel better soon. The pressure of work taken out of the equation is a good first step!

@WolfMother326 I have no idea with these, but I think I’d guess boy!

I’ve booked in a reassurance scan for the 19th, when I’ll be almost 19 weeks. That’s the first time my DH can get off work in the week. I don’t think they’ll tell me the gender though as they only scan for medical purposes xx

Whatshouldbemyusername · 02/03/2021 13:17

@Inmypjsagain This is baby 1 for me but would like baby 2 if all goes well when baby 1 is about 2 going on 3. I am 35 x

@Carefree1 I already feel better. Body clock wakes me up just before 7 but I didn’t step out of bed till 9:15! I still feel drained but definitely I think this week will help. Am not going to watch any TV though and reduce phone time as I think I’m abit sensitive to lighting too x

Also ladies my NHS trust is doing a 16 week telephone appointment so I just booked a private scan just to make sure alls ok. I’m sure it is but just more assurance will be good. It’s just my 20 week scan isn’t till 9th April. I’m still not going to find out gender though x

@WolfMother326 this is the first I heard of the skull nub theory. I googled it but yes I think based on the 5 minute research it may be a boy. What are your thoughts?x
