@MrsB2019x yeah I was awake at 3:55am and been tossing and turning ever since and had to get up at 7am because I get fed up of being in bed which is odd for me to say as I love a lie in!🤣

@PurplePansy05 I think 16 weeks is actually pretty early to feel flutters anyway so you're fine! I find mine are really hard to decipher what they are too I have to really concentrate to decide if it's them moving or I'm just imagining it does that make sense ??x

PurplePansy05 · 27/02/2021 07:35

@lucyrp - it does, I am still uncertain if they are movements as I have no previous experience in recognising them. But it's as you say, some fluttering that comes and goes which I never felt before, so it could be that. I didn't expect to feel anything yet tbh, but since something has started, I'm now worried when it's not there IYSWIM. I will have a private scan in a week or two and see where my placenta is now, if still posterior this could tie in with the suspected movements 😊 xx

Alittlexmasmagic · 27/02/2021 08:18

@PurplePansy05 with regards to the movements coming and going, that's totally normal. At this stage baby still has acres of room to move around in. One small turn and he'll be kicking nothing but fluid. Reduced movements shouldn't be a major concern for a good while yet.x

BertieBotts · 27/02/2021 08:54

I finally finished my blog post! 🥳

Fair warning - it's REALLY wordy! I did try and go in and edit it down a bit, but a lot I just couldn't take out without losing info I thought was useful. I don't know whether to try and break it up a bit more as it is a bit wall-of-text. But I have made the headings for each section bold, so you should be able to skip any bits you don't think are relevant and skip to the section you want to read.

I would prefer if this wasn't shared widely just yet as I would like to get a few more posts up before I start to publicise properly. Also, I've just picked a really basic template for now, it's not fancy looking or branded or anything like that.

carseatexplained.blogspot.com/2021/02/top-picks-spin-car-seats-for-newborns.html

@PurplePansy05 I agree with the others, it's so early that they will have loads of room to float around in there. It's after 24 weeks you want to be monitoring movement for changes.

Wow @BertieBotts - well done with the blog and thank you for sharing 💐. Being first time parents, this will be invaluable.

Is anyone joining the online baby show?

I'm 17w tomorrow (happy dance) and still waiting eagerly for any fluttering movements. It's exciting to know that perhaps baby will be able to hear sounds in the next few days.

HopefulB · 27/02/2021 10:07

Oh, thanks @BertieBotts, I’ll sit and have a read this afternoon!

Morning all, hope everyone’s well.
I just found www.nursingbra-shop.co.uk who seem to have a good selection of bras and variety of sizes, along with free delivery & returns.

Whatshouldbemyusername · 27/02/2021 10:20

@Dia12 I’m attending it today. I’ve seen some deals that I think are good. Worth checking out for sure esp for first time mums. It can all be overwhelming this shopping thing x

@wimbler the baby show has the uppababy vista v2 travel system with the I-base for £1125. That’s a great deal right? Do you think I would get it better in any other sales or is the baby show the best place? Apparently It’s down from £1415!x

Whatshouldbemyusername · 27/02/2021 10:21

@BertieBotts what a great blog! Thank you for doing this. So helpful coz I was initially leaning towards the joie spin 360. Now I can compare x

MrsB2019x · 27/02/2021 10:35

@PurplePansy05 You’d think after a busy day you’d sleep so much better but clearly doesn’t work like that 🙄

Has anyone else not felt movement yet? I’m 16+1 with a posterior placenta, I thought I felt something a week ago but nothing since so I doubt it was that (@Dia12 you’ve put my mind at rest slightly!)

Daffodil21 · 27/02/2021 10:56

@MrsB2019x I haven't felt movement yet. I had a scan on Thursday and all was ok x

Daffodil21 · 27/02/2021 11:02

@MrsB2019x just to add I'm 16+3

BertieBotts · 27/02/2021 11:36

My next one is on all the different types of newborn seats, I thought that would make sense/also be useful, for anyone who isn't interested in a spin seat or just wants to look at different types.

wimbler · 27/02/2021 13:55

@Whatshouldbemyusername we got ours for £999 from John Lewis but that was in 2018 and it didn’t include a car seat. I’d look at what car seat you want, if it’s the Mesa that’s included in the package they didn’t sell that in the Uk when we were buying. We went with the besafe izigo which I think was around £300ish including the base so if the package includes a car seat and base that’s a pretty good deal! Which car seat is included?

Whatshouldbemyusername · 27/02/2021 14:19

@wimbler thanks for that. It’s actually the mesa that’s included! So that is a deal I reckon ..

HopefulB · 27/02/2021 17:32

Great blog @BertieBotts, really helpful, made
me think about a couple of extra things and go and measure the actual space in our car, and sit in the back seat to confirm they’re not sloping like the front!

I’ve gone full circle back to the Recaro. Just a bit nervous that there are a few reviews saying the seatbelt rubs - but wondering if that is down to adjustment/ length of time in seat/ temperature?

LyraShaeLilly · 27/02/2021 19:00

@BertieBotts

Whats the name of your blog, how do I access it?

Andr33a · 27/02/2021 19:53

Good evening to you all! Has anyone looked into nursing chairs? Yay or nay? Thinking of getting one but not sure how useful it will end up being.

Alittlexmasmagic · 27/02/2021 20:01

@Andr33a we have an IKEA Poang. With a foot rest it's got enough bounce but a practical piece of furniture afterwards. I think you can get a rocking version too x

BertieBotts · 27/02/2021 20:13

@LyraShaeLilly I put a link above. There is only one post there at the moment.

@Andr33a I really liked the glider chairs they used to sell in Mothercare (I'm sure other places do them too!) not keen on the Poang personally, it makes me feel a bit sick. But in general, I don't use a special chair to breastfeed in. You spend so long breastfeeding in the early days that it can end up feeling a bit like a prison chair! I just feed on the sofa, sitting in bed, on my chair at the computer - wheverer I would normally sit. I did put a specific chair in DS2's bedroom once we started doing bedtimes in there, that was handy, but I'm not sure I'd have needed one before then.

@HopefulB that I cannot advise on I'm afraid as it's not a seat I've owned. It might be worth trying to contact the authors of those reviews for clarification?

OP posts:
biscuitcat · 27/02/2021 20:20

@Andr33a I've bought a chair to go in the baby's room, but it's not a nursing chair as I don't like the look of them and wanted something I could use elsewhere in the house if needed. I went for the Next Sherlock chair as it's got a nice high back and arms, so I thought it'll hopefully do the job!

lucyrp · 27/02/2021 21:12

Having a mini break down tonight as had a long day and collected some nursery furniture the same as what I had for my DS but turns out the stuff I collected is cream not white as I thought. Also realised I have a cot bed where as I had a cot for DS so can't use his cot mattress either. My hormones are getting the better of me. Sleep is the only option 😭😂

MrsB2019x · 27/02/2021 23:05

Oh @lucyrp! Tomorrow is a new day lovely

I don’t think I’ll be investing in a nursing chair, I might put in a regular armchair in there once they move to their own room but I’ll assess that at the time. I imagine it will just end up having clothes and things slung on it 😂

BertieBotts · 28/02/2021 05:14

Ah never mind, cream can still look lovely, as long as it all matches each other that's the main thing.

Ikea do a reasonable mattress or baby mattresses online. And a cot bed will last you longer as you can convert it to a toddler bed. Don't worry :)

My sob story of the night is DS2 woke up at 5.20 and will not go back to sleep 😖

OP posts:
lucyrp · 28/02/2021 05:36

Yes definitely. It's nothing to worry about I was just surprised as I didn't even know they did the set in different colour ways! I'm unsure that a single bed would even fit in the nursery as its a box room anyway so this way a cot bed is better. I'm now wide awake for the day 😭

Inmypjsagain · 28/02/2021 05:46

Morning! Few of us up, I’ve been awake since 3 with a banging headache that I am desperately hoping goes! I’ve been scared to take any tablets so far, but I think I’m going to have to for this one?

@BertieBotts just been giving your blog a read, so information thank you so much! Sorry DS is awake, is this likely the start of your day now or might he drop off in an hour or two?

@lucyrp it’s good you found a matching set though!
