@wimbler yeah I wouldn't mind if they were online but included other people at the same time, but these just look like pre-recorded videos you watch on your own. I'm going to ask my midwife next time I see her and hopefully she'll have some more sociable suggestions!

@lucyrp ah does that mean you suffered with sickness? Sorry to hear that if that's the case! I was lucky enough to somehow swerve that one! By the time I went to my booking app at 8 weeks I had put on a stone though. I dread to think how much more I weigh now but with the steroids and the progesterone there wasn't a lot I could do about it! I'm weaning off the steroids now and will be totally off on Saturday, so I was hoping my weight would start to steady out but now but it certainly doesn't seem to have! I have noticed my appetite has returned to normal though which I'm relieved about!!

I can definitely recommend this bra from ASOS: www.asos.com/lindex/lindex-eco-modal-seamless-rib-nursing-bra-in-black/prd/21120468?custref=215787155&affid=25416&channelref=email&orderref=590241438

It's ok for me but I'm not sure it would be that supportive for those who are more gifted than me!

Inmypjsagain · 26/02/2021 13:43

@PurplePansy05 hope the move is going well!

@Daffodil21 welcome 😊

No maternity wear for me yet, I just seem a bit bloated but all my loungewear is stretchy enough to fit. I have been looking at Jojo Maman Bebe and Seraphine. In fact I just like the look of Seraphine clothes in general so imagine I’ll buy some clothes from there when bump appears. I ordered a marks and Spencer bra that DH collected this lunch time and it’s too small!!!! I’m in shock. No stretch marks on boobs just yet. I’m expecting them on my stomach as I was quite prone as a teenager.

Creams- I’ve been using mama mio boob tube and tummy oil. It smells lemony and sinks in well.

@WolfMother326 I can’t stomach anything healthy that isn’t a fruit still, so am interested in what other people say. The only thing I’ve had vaguely high protein is peanut butter! Can’t remember the last time I had meat!

NCT- I have booked as a way to meet local mums . I don’t think the course is until June/July as it’s for august and September due dates so might be in person. Nct seems touch and go with my friends- some love it and others hated the other couples...

Would anyone consider using the Peanut app to meet nearby mums? I am tempted but as a friend used it instead of nct!

lucyrp · 26/02/2021 14:20

@Daffodil21 yeah from week 6 to week 12 I couldn't keep anything down and my appetite completely disappeared. I've tried the lindex ones that are two in a pack and size medium but they were far too small and they didn't have the size I needed judging by the size I had ordered.

Jessicapebbles · 26/02/2021 15:45

Hi ladies - sorry to go off the currently subjects and probably re-visit an old one 😂

I’m really struggling to find a decent maternity bra. My chest is in agony! Currently 17 weeks and wanted to start looking for something relatively inexpensive but half decent for large boobs!!

I’m usually a 36F - so if anybody has had any success please point me in the right direction 😭

Inmypjsagain · 26/02/2021 16:05

@Jessicapebbles I feel your pain. The bra I ordered was a marks and Spencer 32 H and it was too small, if you’re normally an F and have got bigger and might be a G, the M&S H might be okay for you. They do double packs for £25 but stock doesn’t look great.

I’m now looking at this: www.bravissimo.com/products/cici-non-wired-bra-ln639/#blush-pink-ln639blp others have recommended ASOS but struggling to find stock in my size. If you do come across any bras when you’re browsing please let me know! X

Jessicapebbles · 26/02/2021 16:46

@Inmypjsagain Thank you, I’ll look at both of those! I always find the straps on bras are too thin and the cups are never that big! It’s a nightmare!

Inmypjsagain · 26/02/2021 16:53

@Jessicapebbles www.marksandspencer.com/2-pack-lace-trim-padded-full-cup-bra-f-/p/clp60451902?intid=mobile_app_pdp_share this is the marks and Spencer link. Not specifically nursing/maternity though!

Kiki275 · 26/02/2021 16:57

@Jessicapebbles I'm 36DD so a bit smaller but looking at getting this as soon as I find my voucher. Looks very forgiving for in between size days and comfy.

HopefulB · 26/02/2021 17:06

Lovely sunshine here today ☀️
I’m on AL, but OH working, so had the day to myself - feel like it’s the first day in months I’ve actually done stuff!

Creams/Oils - I have Burt’s Bees Mama Bee, which soaks in well, and has a lemony scent.
So far used on itchy skin on boobs, existing stretch marks on hips, and surgical scars on belly button.

Bras. I feel your pain ladies. I’ve gone up a band and cup size to 40D. I am reluctant to invest at this stage, as suspect they will
change again, but ordered pack of 2 for £12 cotton bras from M&S that are OK (as no one but my OH will see them & I’m only wearing baggy tops!). Bravado bras were recommended to me - not figured out their sizing yet... There was also a Royce one in the JL site which looked like it may give reasonable support/shape. If anyone finds any they really like do share!

Inmypjsagain · 26/02/2021 17:07

Hi @Kiki275 sorry for jumping in but that’s a great find, I like how it caters for 2 sizes so think I’ll be adding to basket! Thank you

Daffodil21 · 26/02/2021 18:16

Ah just to add some context I'm usually only a 34B/32C (if I really want to kid myself 😂) so my ASOS suggestion probably isn't suitable for most! I ordered the medium and it did for. The only piece of clothing that does fit in a medium size these days!!!!

Caz1226 · 26/02/2021 19:07

Hi girlies
I hope everyone has had a nice week!
Eating.... talk to me!
I can’t eat meals and when I do eat little (mainly toast, apple, ice lolly) I get stomach ache.
I’m also taking gaviscon which I think is helping abit but any other suggestions?
I’m 15.5 weeks now x

Andr33a · 26/02/2021 19:25

@Caz1226 if you can't eat because of heartburn try wearing loose fitting trousers and see if that helps?

lucyrp · 26/02/2021 19:39

As for bras I've been wearing a 36DD but according to calculators I'm actually a 34F so been trying to find a nice fitting bra in that size but no such luck. The band fits lovely but cups and wires don't. Being a woman is tiring !

Whatshouldbemyusername · 26/02/2021 20:13

@Daffodil21i ordered the bra from ASOS! Thanks. Hope it fits well x

Jessicapebbles · 26/02/2021 20:14

Thank you all for the Bra tips!

ElonaWise · 26/02/2021 21:42

Happy Friday all.

Once again thank you for all the lovely replies. You've all been so nice.

I ordered some lovely wireless bras from M&S that really help on sore days.

Currently looking at the vast variety of prams online so I can plan appropriately.

Quick question, do you ladies experience cramps? I've had side stabbing pains, also lower cramping, little bit more discharge and feeling a bit warmer down there. Sometimes I feel like I could have an infection. I could certainly be over thinking again. What type of cramps / stretchy feelings do you get?

Also, was so nice to get a bit of sun today.

I hope everyone is well and enjoying their Friday night.

X

Daffodil21 · 26/02/2021 22:02

@ElonaWise yes I get pains like that. It was one of the reasons I booked my scan yesterday because I had a panic (it doesn't take much!). All was ok though and I've read it's common to have stretching pains at this stage

BertieBotts · 27/02/2021 06:15

Oh I started adding snack tips but must have clicked away from the page.

Anyway these work for me.

Dried fruit/nut mixes
Cereal bars (especially ones with sour fruits like dried cranberries or cherry - try the more high end ones) or nutri grain bars.
Toast with jam or honey
Hard boiled eggs if you can stomach them - weirdly I never got put off eggs.
Peanut puffs - I'm sure you can get these in UK but forgotten the name. They're like wotsits but peanut flavoured. Sounds weird but tastes nicer than you'd think! Actually any salty crisp type thing.

Morning @BertieBotts

Great snacks! I found a great smoothie that's really helped my nausea, its called Green Goddess. It's frozen pineapple chunks, half a banana, spinach, 2 tablespoons of full fat greek yoghurt, chia seeds and pistachios. Topped with soya milk and whizz. It's so nutritious and the pineapple and banana really settle me.

Other snacks I've liked:
Nuts, unsalted.
Ryvita and peanut butter and banana
Boiled eggs with asparagus
Lemon and in ginger in boiled water (not a snack but great hydration)
Raspberries, blueberries and Greek yoghurt with flaked almonds
Protein shake
Cherry and vanilla smoothie - frozen cherries, full fat yoghurt, vanilla extract and chia seeds (swap for Strawberry or other fruits) - essentially a milkshake
Humous and carrots.

Hope these help. X

August 2021 - Heading into the second trimester
PurplePansy05 · 27/02/2021 07:12

Hi All!

Thank you for all the good wishes, WE'RE IN ❤🎉

BUT we didn't get the keys till the evening, the buyer's solicitor was an utter plonker. Then the seller left our house uncleaned (!!!) and with some furniture that was agreed he'd remove. FFS. I've also realised that despite my best decluttering efforts, we might have to declutter further as the new house's layout doesn't quite work with our furniture and so once renovated, that's another investment to make.

I may have sat on the floor last night and cried but DH bought me chips and it cheered me up 😊

There's so much to do it's madness. I also got stressed as I haven't felt the flutters for a couple of days, is it normal that they come and go early on (I'm 16+2), assuming they're movements? I read that it might depend on how busy you are during the day, they might be there but you don't notice them. I think I felt something when I finally went to bed last night but nothing during the day and don't recall anything the day before.

I think I'm just hormonal and tired tbh. Moving when pregnant ISN'T fun. To those of you planning it, I would seriously consider a packing and unpacking service, especially later on in pregnancy. Honestly, I mostly did this type thing myself whereas DH dealt with carrying, lifting and our furniture. It's still really exhausting and in hindsight, I'd have paid someone to do it 100%. Having said that, we had quite a big house to pack up I can't believe how much shit we own. I am committed to becoming far more minimalistoc now, see how this pans out with baby stuff Hmm

Still lots to catch up on here but quickly re snacks, my firm favourite remain celery sticks dipped in hummus or in Philadelphia cheese, heaven. This luckily hasn't changed since pre-pregnancy! Healthy and low calorie one. Also crackers with cheese and grapes.

Have a good weekend all! xx

MrsB2019x · 27/02/2021 07:16

Glad you’re in @PurplePansy05! Your move sounds exactly like ours was in August, our new house was DISGUSTING 🤢 hopefully your nesting instinct has clicked a little bit already and you’ll actually enjoy cleaning it! Hope you aren’t too tired from it all yesterday

Is anyone else’s body insistent on getting up at stupid o’clock no matter how late you go to bed? I don’t think I’m ever going to have a lie in or sleep properly again 😂😩

lucyrp · 27/02/2021 07:17

@PurplePansy05 yay for in! As for movements I would say I've maybe felt them 3/4 times since Saturday so I too was worried about that but like you said I think when your busy in the day you just don't notice them so much. I only notice them when lay in bed and most of the time I fall asleep straight away so don't get the chance to feel them then either😅🙈x

PurplePansy05 · 27/02/2021 07:20

Thanks @MrsB2019x 😘 Yes, actually cleaning is quite therapeutic. It's not fun when people don't do what they're supposed to do though isn't it, it just winds me up. I'm tired also because I woke up at 2:26am as usual, went back to sleep and wide awake at 6am, like you I can't have a lie in. Was really looking forward to it too! xx

PurplePansy05 · 27/02/2021 07:22

Oh thanks for this @lucyrp you've really given me some peace of mind 💐 That's exactly what I've experienced over the last couple of days. Phew. I don't always know what's ok and what isn't, it's all so new! xx
