Been a busy busy day ladies. Glad it’s Friday tomorrow.

Firstly @PurplePansy05 woohoo 🙌🏽 amazing news on the house! That’s one less thing to think about. Your sleep will hopefully become ok. X

I have a lot happening between home moves abs job moves and wedding cancellations so yes I know it’s insane right now but we all have to focus on us and our little babies ♥️

@Dia12 and @Andr33a congratulations and welcome to this forum. We’re all really helpful and friendly so please feel free to talk to us all. X

@ElonaWise am sorry to hear this. That does sound very hard. We are all here for you even if you want to vent about cravings or scans or waiting for appointments to anything. It’s not going to be lonely for you now xx

Alittlexmasmagic · 25/02/2021 18:02

I know some of you aren't having amazing MW experiences. Just thought I'd share this product testing link for those of you who might appreciate the extra support x

Inmypjsagain · 25/02/2021 18:44

@PurplePansy05 so pleased you could get back to sleep and you had a good meeting with the consultant. I’m sorry for the reason why you have to extra scans but it is nice you’ll be able to check on your boy! Congratulations on exchange! What a relief, good luck with the move (you have a good excuse for no heavy lifting!)

@ElonaWise sounds so tough! Hard enough doing this with support. This thread is amazing for support IMO though ❤️

@Alittlexmasmagic oh thanks, I never look at sticky threads!

Hope everyone’s been feeling okay today. I have felt so queasy all day, felt like the longest Thursday ever! Thank goodness it’s Friday tomorrow. I’m definitely ready for mat leave already 😂

Magik01 · 25/02/2021 20:27

@Andr33a and @Dia12 welcome to the threat! Hope your pregnancies are going alright so far!

@PurplePansy05 brilliant news about the exchange! I moved the end of last year so know how stressful the whole process is, glad it’s all over now. Have you got removals men in to do the bulk?

@ElonaWise your situation sounds really tough, so sorry your going through this. You have this support bubble if you have any questions or just want a chat! One of us is usually awake. 😂

I had my 16 week appointment today, got to listen to babies heartbeat and didn’t even need to ask. Smile it was a lovely student who did it, she was lovely.

PurplePansy05 · 25/02/2021 20:52

Aww fab @Magik01, the sweetest sound, definitely 🥰

Thank you very much all! I am done for today, in bed, snuggled up to my pregnancy pillow 😊 I have to say DH worked really hard. He had his best mate in for a day and they've done loads. I mostly wrapped stuff up, folded clothes, put everything in boxes and cleaned. I am very tired but I think it's because I don't have as much energy as I usually do, normally I could keep going for ages. Now I'll do a couple of hours, break, another three hours and that's me done. Anyway, the removals team will be here at 8am tomorrow to move us, so happy days 😊 We'll be up super early to pack up the final little bits and load up our cars. I keep telling myself it will all be worth it, just a tough few days/weeks! xx

HopefulB · 26/02/2021 07:07

Good luck with the move @PurplePansy05, new home and new baby, exciting times!

@ElonaWise, going it alone must be tough, are you able to still see friends for support?
Or does COVID stop that where you are too?

Welcome @Andr33a and @Dia12

MrsB2019x · 26/02/2021 07:09

Congratulations on the house @PurplePansy05! 🥳 hopefully the move goes as smoothly as possible today

Happy Friday girlies! 🎉

Carefree1 · 26/02/2021 07:29

Congratulations on completing @PurplePansy05 🥳 I hope the house move goes well & you settle nice and quick!

@ElonaWise sorry you’ve not got a supportive partner, like others have said, this is a great place for support. No judgement here. I actually have one of those adult colouring books and I find that helps xx

WolfMother326 · 26/02/2021 09:19

Happy Friday, hope everyone's doing well.

What are some healthy/protein filled snacks you've been enjoying? I seem to be getting insanely hungry around 3 in the afternoon, no matter how big my lunch is. I don't tend to eat a lot of meat, so veggie/dairy suggestions welcome.

Have had a bit of a resurgence of nausea this morning... hoping it doesn't last!

Congratulations @PurplePansy05 on the house, that's fantastic! Flowers

Dia12 · 26/02/2021 09:27

Thank you all for the warm welcome.
I had a quick look at NCT courses yesterday and it's looking likely that they'll be in person 🤞🏼
Has anyone booked classes yet? After such a long time in lockdown it will be lovely to meet others to share the journey with.

The house move sounds exciting (and of course stressful) - what a lovely new start. Good luck for today @PurplePansy05

Carefree1 · 26/02/2021 09:30

@WolfMother326 same here! I had a massive bowl of pasta for lunch yesterday and was still starving come mid afternoon.

I have been having plums, watermelon and pineapple to snack on, which seems to plug the gap for a little. There’s not much which seems appealing x

Daffodil21 · 26/02/2021 09:33

Hello ladies, can I join? I'm due a baby boy on 12th August.

I've seen this thread pop up several times and been a little reluctant to join (currently on 4th pregnancy after 3 losses). But I had a scan last night and everything is looking good, so I've decided to bite the billet and say hello!

I've not read the full thread but I have read the most recent posts. Is anyone in maternity clothes yet? I've just been reading the posts about weight gain - I've gained so much already. Good job I'm not trying to hide it as I look about 6 months already! I've been taking progesterone abs some steroids to hopefully help this one stick (looks like they've been doing their job so far!) but both of them have weight gain as side effects so I'm fighting a losing battle 😂 all worth it though!

Anyway, hello 👋

MrsB2019x · 26/02/2021 10:13

Hi @Daffodil21, congratulations! 🎉 sorry for your previous losses. There are quite a few of us on here pregnant after loss.
I’m in maternity trousers as I can’t stand waistbands on my belly now, I’m still okay in regular leggings but I’ve been maternity jeans for about 3/4 weeks now 😂

@Dia12 I’m still torn about whether to book classes or not, I think the only thing I’d get from them are other expectant parent friends but wondering if all the money is worth it just for that when I could just go to baby groups with little one when they are here 🤷🏻‍♀️

Whatshouldbemyusername · 26/02/2021 10:37

Ladies whoever is looking for deals the baby show is happening this weekend and @PurplePansy05 I’ve seen icandy orange down from £875 to £500 and some other deals too. Like I’m looking to get a dock a tot (prev sleepyhead) for when baby needs to nap in the living room. It lasts abit longer than the Moses basket and looks cosy. My cousin used it for her baby girl and told me that it really makes babies nap in it. They retail for £150 but at the show you can get them for £110.

@BertieBotts do you think I would get better deals on prams at the baby show or still recommend waiting for the summer sales?x

wimbler · 26/02/2021 10:46

I see a few people have questioned whether NCT was worth the money. I can't say the content of the course was anything you couldn't learn anywhere else but for the friends I've gained it was an absolute godsend. I can say hand on heart I don't know what I would do without my group of NCT mums. We moved to the area 3 weeks before I gave birth but had the foresight to do NCT in what would be our new neighbourhood. We were a group of 9 couples and I think what I found so great about it was that it was 9 women having babies around the same time so we were all going through the same thing at the same time. We had a connection with each other before the babies arrived and so had established a whatsapp group and were already very comfortable with each other. In the early days I don't think you can get the same relationship from baby groups (my personal opinion). it also meant there were usually at least a few of us attending the same groups together. I know I would have found it daunting going alone.

2+ years on and our group chat is still active. smaller groups have emerged and we've been on weekends away, days out and some of the dads play regular golf and go to the pub together. 8 out of 9 of us have now either got a second or are pregnant too which is so nice! I know we were insanely lucky to have such a good group and I do know not everyone's experience is like this but honestly, it was great.

LyraShaeLilly · 26/02/2021 11:19

I have booked a local NCT course, we are first time parents and I'm quite anxious about everything and also wanted to meet people face to face.

It was expensive £205 for 15 hours for both DH and me. But can pay in 4 instalments.

biscuitcat · 26/02/2021 11:21

Happy Friday everyone!! I'm totally wiped, very ready for the weekend!

@PurplePansy05 good luck for your move today!! So exciting going somewhere new!

@ElonaWise I'm so sorry to hear you're having a tough time of it, pregnancy is hard and stressful enough even with a supportive partner. As others have said, this is such a lovely group to chat to and share worries with 🥰 the thing I really like for managing anxiety and wellbeing in general is the 5 Ways to Wellbeing (www.mind.org.uk/workplace/mental-health-at-work/taking-care-of-yourself/five-ways-to-wellbeing/). It's a really lovely way to think about how to do things to enhance your wellbeing, and really manageable too - at the moment I'm noticing the spring flowers starting to come out and really appreciating how lovely they are

Welcome @Andr33a @Dia12 and @Daffodil21!

@Dia12 I've signed up for NCT, I'm glad I did as the class I'm going to is almost full now! As others have said, I think having a group of local mum friends will be so helpful, especially as quite a lot of my other friends live far away!

Andr33a · 26/02/2021 11:57

@Daffodil21 Sorry for your previous losses and Congratulations and sending you my best wishes for everything to go well!
I've just ordered maternity leggings from George, comfortable for the bump size but a bit thin, will probably end up wearing in the house. And have ordered few more leggings from New Look, due to arrive today, will let you know how they feel!

I've only ordered leggings because tops still fit and no point buying into the whole maternity clothes craze, just buy what you need! And I definitely needed trousers, nothing else fit! Funnily enough, I used to have heart burn all day every day and since wearing the new trousers I've been fine! Fingers crossed it stays that way Grin

Daffodil21 · 26/02/2021 12:10

Thanks @MrsB2019x and @biscuitcat

Thanks @Andr33a I definitely recommend ASOS! I had never ordered form there before but I was pleasantly surprised! I got a nice pair of jeans and some leggings, and also a couple of dresses and tops (I need maternity tops too already 😳) they feel good quality and the prices were good too! I'm waiting on a couple of maternity bras and a Dorothy Perkins order which should have arrived yesterday but they're still not here 🙄 one arrived the other day from ASOS which is so comfy and also doubles up as a nursing bra. I've only got one old bra that still fits otherwise (mostly a band issue rather than a cup issue) and already have stretch marks on my boobs 🙈 they're not even very big! It's all fun and games isn't it 😂 any one else in the stretch mark clan yet or am I flying solo?! Can anyone recommend any creams? I'm using the palmers one atm but no idea if it's any good!

Andr33a · 26/02/2021 12:33

@Daffodil21 oh I am there already with you on the bras issue, mine ballooned as soon as I got pregnant, was one of the first symptoms Hmm

I've read BioOil is good, a bit pricier but have had scars before and used the oil and really helped.

Dia12 · 26/02/2021 12:33

Sounds like you have a lovely group of friends from your NTC group @wimbler. I'm really hoping to find the same as I only know a few people locally and they are at different stages. Btw is anyone based in Birmingham?

Sorry to hear of your losses @Daffodil21 and many congratulations on your pregnancy. I'm in a similar boat and am so relieved and excited to have got this far.

Andr33a · 26/02/2021 12:35

I just find it hard to decide what size to go for, a bit of miss with online shopping and on some the bump is huge! I can't wait for shops to open

Daffodil21 · 26/02/2021 12:44

@Dia12 thank you, and sorry to hear you're in a similar boat. Congratulations on your pregnancy though, I hope you're managing the ridiculous anxiety ok!

@Andr33a I had no idea what size I would be for bras or clothes so I doubled up and ended up being the bigger size which I only ordered 'just in case'! (For clothes that is, not for bras. I'm not sure how I've ended up with stretch marks on them tbh! I say 'them' it's actually only on one atm 😂)

I've just been looking at NCT classes and in my area there are understandably only online ones but it looks like they're just videos and not groups with real people. A bit disappointed as we completely relocated here just before lockdown, and I was hoping that would be a way of getting to meet people.

I don't suppose anyone is based in NE Scotland? Grin

wimbler · 26/02/2021 13:18

@Daffodil21 my friend had a baby in June and she did NCT online. She said it was still a good way of meeting other parents and they meet up for walks and coffees when allowed. I think it will still help to put you in contact with other mums and provided someone is proactive about setting up a whatsapp group, I don't see why it would be any different. Things might change when restrictions ease a bit?

lucyrp · 26/02/2021 13:19

@Daffodil21 I haven't gained any weight yet as I lost a stone but maybe a couple of pounds have gone back on. I've been in maternity leggings for the last two weeks but they're the only thing really. Need some new bras soon too. Welcome!

I never paid for any nct classes I just went to the antenatal classes provided by my birth unit which were good fun for meeting the other couples. My DS now goes to school with at least 2 of the children from the same antenatal group.

I'm also using bio oil alresdy as used that with previous pregnancy. Obsessed with the smell😍
