@lucyrp 😂 And I thought putting AllBran on the home delivery was an extreme measure!!

Thanks for chatting about the headaches ladies, I was a bit worried I was overdoing it at work!

lucyrp · 20/02/2021 07:06

@HopefulB I've been drinking orange juice like nobodies business to try and shift it but it's just hot helping. Not afraid to say next time I might try the popping technique 🤣 even when I can finally go it's like rabbit droppings which is highly annoying and doesn't give any relief whatsoever 🙄

BertieBotts · 20/02/2021 07:11

Erm alright :o I don't think I will try that :o

Prunes are very nutritious!

So glad I found this thread! It's amazing reading about everyone's progress 😃
My EDD is 17th Aug and we'll be finding out the sex, can't wait 😝

Also thanks to this thread I just remembered I have not yet booked my 16week appointment with MW 😩😩 Honestly completely slipped my mind tf. Hope I can something on time. My gp is always so busy.

Currently still have terrible morning sickness and I'm sick about 3 times a day, horrible 😞 Craving ice lollies specifically soleros 💛

Some inspiration here: www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/collection/high-fibre-recipes

(Although all the high fibre stuff is what it recommends avoiding for wind, so I think you choose your enemy!!)

Re constipation, I second Bertie with prunes, also prune juice that you can buy in the supermarket. @lucyrp I felt more "regular" when I was having porridge with fruit every morning. I have now switched to bran flakes with fruit and Greek yoghurt and it's worse. But bananas help me, have you tried? xx

PurplePansy05 · 20/02/2021 07:36

And lentils, 100%, they are VERY cleansing for me 😳😂 xx

PurplePansy05 · 20/02/2021 07:41

Sorry to drip feee but just another thought about water intake @lucyrp, both your migraine and constipation are likely hormonal, but your body is probably also telling you to drink more water. I find I need a lot more in pregnancy and make a point of filling a pint of water with ice every hour or two, I don't always drink the whole thing, but I try my best to stay hydrated, it might help to ease your symptoms xx

lucyrp · 20/02/2021 07:42

@PurplePansy05 ooo yes I have prunes in the cupboard I bought a big pack of those when I first started getting constipated. I have fruit every day and vegetables. Yeah I have been drinking quite a lot of water but I can only drink it iced at the moment. Maybe il try drinking even more 🤣🙈xx

BertieBotts · 20/02/2021 07:44

Be careful with bananas. If they are ripe they are good for constipation, but if they are underripe they can actually make it worse.

OP posts:
PurplePansy05 · 20/02/2021 07:48

True, they shouldn't be green. I should have qualified what bananas I eat (I don't touch them unless they're yellow!).

Here's a useful summary on water intake btw:

LottSE20 · 20/02/2021 08:01

@Lille4 sorry you are still so sick. The last few days I’ve started to feel slightly better - just a bit nauseous in the evenings. I don’t want to get excited yet but praying I’ve turned a corner!

And I am totally with you on ice lollies, soleros and those del Monte smoothie ones. It’s my after dinner treat, since chocolate has made me gag since getting pregnant 🙁

Magik01 · 20/02/2021 08:47

Re migraines and constipation, I am suffering from both. 😫 Never really had migraines before but I had to ring in sick at around 9 weeks pregnant as I couldn’t be in any light room without intense pain. And I had it again yesterday.

I also have a really bad sore throat at the moment and just feel generally run down so I booked myself in for a lateral test this morning. My DH told me yesterday though because he was positive the other week and I probably had it (although never got a test due to no symptoms) I will test positive whether I have it or not. Confused So I’ve cancelled it! Catch 22 really, if I don’t have it now but had it the other week, or if I have it now it will be a positive result. I do just think I’m just generally run down though but wanted to rule it out! Annoying!

@Whatshouldbemyusername have you used your pillow yet?!

Jessicapebbles · 20/02/2021 08:48

Hey everyone,

Has anyone been offered a Covid vaccine or had the vaccine during their pregnancy?

I’ve been offered one due to the severity of my Crohn’s disease and also because I work with the public. It would be really good to speak to someone who has had it just to get their view. I’m undecided as I don’t want to have it and then something go wrong in my pregnancy.

X

MrsB2019x · 20/02/2021 09:07

@Jessicapebbles I have because on usual duties I’m front line social work. I declined and my manager was of the same view, I’m just WFH now. I just think it hasn’t been tested and don’t want to risk it, it’s taken us too long to get here! Will definitely be taking it up once baby is here though

HopefulB · 20/02/2021 09:14

@Jessicapebbles, I was offered it when I updated my workplace COVID risk assessment and it came out high due to age, weight & pregnancy. I declined, there is only about 10% or my role I really couldn’t do from home, so my manager agree to take those tasks off me, and that I would be full time WFH.

It’s a very personal decision dependent on your own risk factors both in the pregnancy itself and how well you can minimise risks of contracting COVID. The best info to support your decision (I think- although some may feel it is too technical) is available here assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/961287/Greenbook_chapter_14a_v7_12Feb2021.pdf this is what the healthcare professionals working in vaccine clinics will have been briefed with. A good healthcare professional will be able to talk you through the risks and individualise them to you - so definitely worth a thorough discussion before making a decision.

HopefulB · 20/02/2021 09:16

Should also say I’m really hoping the trial currently underway shows that immunisation whilst breastfeeding transfers immunity and that this will be an option by the time we deliver!

Jessicapebbles · 20/02/2021 09:18

@HopefulB @MrsB2019x. Thank you both, that has helped reassure me! A lot of people (family) are trying to pressure me in to having it and my gut feeling is that there just isn’t enough evidence for me to be happy doing that. Both of your views have helped clarify my thinking xx

Jessicapebbles · 20/02/2021 09:25

@HopefulB. Yes 100% agree as we are BF over here xx

PurplePansy05 · 20/02/2021 09:48

Is anyone planning to visit a hairdresser when they reopen? I'm desperate to go and am booked in for April (might be brought forward) but debating whether it's worth a risk, with my hair it's at least a 4hr visit to what's inevitably going to be a very busy salon Confused xx

Smurf123 · 20/02/2021 09:59

@Jessicapebbles I did ask my consultant who said there's no evidence it's unsafe but it is untested in pregnancy so they don't really have concrete evidence either way. She said without having serious health conditions making you cev it is completely up to personal choice. Her advice though was a definite no to Pfizer as it's a new kind of vaccine. Oxford she would say was up to me. But that of it was her own daughter asking in the same situation she would say she would advise to urge on the side caution and social distance / wfh and get the vaccine after giving birth.

lucyrp · 20/02/2021 10:03

@PurplePansy05 I'm not going to lie my best friend is my hair dresser and did my hair for me a couple of weeks back as it hadn't been done for 14 weeks and I normally go more regular than that and I'd hit a low with how I looked tied in with feeling so rough with morning sickness etc. There's more of a risk for me with going into work as I work in retail/hospitality so will see many people during the day when we eventually return to work, I've already told my boss I can't be forward facing from 28 weeks but I did say I'd like to stay at the till as long as behind a screen as I can't be dealing with being shut away in the kitchen or office xx

Jessicapebbles · 20/02/2021 10:05

@Smurf123. Thank you! I’m not currently taking any immunosuppressive medication either so I think I’m going to wait until baby has been born - I’ve had 3 letters in 2 weeks and I feel awful ignoring them.

Whatshouldbemyusername · 20/02/2021 10:07

Morning ladies.

Regarding the vaccine I’ve been told not to take it when pregnant. It also shows this on the NHS website I think but my MW did tell me it’s not ok for pregnant women to take it so please bear that in mind.

@Magik01 ah the pillow is amazing. I sometimes get reflux since pregnancy and yesterday I folded the pillow and kept it upright and literally first time I fell asleep and it just that. When I woke up in the middle of the night I didn’t have a neck ache. It’s perfect and I can see how it will help me when my belly grows. At the moment I’m using it for lower back support and I am lying down in the position recommend for later sleeping (left side) and it does support hips and ankles really well. It defo needs getting use to it but I love it! Did you get yours?

Ladies I haven’t had any icecream or lollies since I found out I’m pregnant. Proper rookie here lol. Is it safe to have cold stuff like that? Last night I was craving it and told my partner to take time to mcdonalds for a McFlurry (I haven’t had it in years as I was vegan but the minute I found out I was pregnant I went and bought milk!) but the McDonald’s didn’t have any!!!!
