Pregnancy after loss - Autumn babies 2021

Hi All, I have only just got my BFP and it's still faint atm. I had an mmc in May 2018, I then gave birth to my son May 2019. I had another mmc July 2020 and have been ttc ever since. I just got my BFP yesterday, so very early days. I'm not ready to join both groups quite yet. I thought this could be a space for us all going through pregnancy after loss. As we all understand the nerves/anxiety that go with this. I hope it's useful.

A bit of back ground on me. I'm 33, married. I have a 20 month old son. I haven't returned to work yet since maternity. I returned for 2 weeks then was put on furlough. I will be going back part time, doing 3 days.

For some people it’s not always their first pee that gives the best results @dippyegg32 I find I always get stronger lines in the afternoon if I try to hold for 2/3 hours. Don’t think you’re out just yet 😊

@Pancakes7 good! Are you starting to believe it’s true a bit more now? 😊 I do find it so surreal sometimes. Hope you managed to get a bit of sleep last night!

PumpkinEverything · 13/02/2021 10:17

@gizmo167 sorry to hear that 😔 have you any other symptoms other than light spotting?

Pancakes7 · 13/02/2021 10:35

@dippyegg32 That's so strange. Maybe you're still too early. How many DPO are you now? Do you have any clear blue you can use instead?

@gizmo167 Hopefully just spotting which some people do get in early pregnancy. Are you having cramps still?

@PumpkinEverything Yeah I think I believe it now 😂🙈 I'm just so into protection mode I didn't let myself believe it. I still don't really feel pregnant yet. I think I'm in disbelief. I had convinced myself I hadn't ovulate this cycle and was planning to go see my GP. I just hope this month goes quickly. I'm going to book a scan around 12/15th March so I'd be 8 weeks. Do scary.

marplemead · 13/02/2021 11:03

That looks promising @dippyegg32. Everything crossed for you!

gizmo167 · 13/02/2021 11:06

No girls, not really what I would describe as cramps, just achy find of feeling at times, just like that af feeling if u know what I mean! My boobs, esp nipples do feel a little more sensitive today but still nowhere near that heaviness that they were, starting now just to feel I just need to know, I'm still convinced I have mc'd tho

And total rant but I just wish the oh would acknowledge something, he just buries his head & acts like nothing has happened, I know it's how he is but I'm suffering here & he's just going on with everything, yea I know maybe not fair but it's how I feel bc I know what I still have to go through if it was a mc Sad

Pancakes7 · 13/02/2021 11:13

@gizmo167 Aw I'm sorry he's not acknowledging it atm. My dh is a bit like that with things sometimes. He's never as upset as I am after the mmc's. I think you need to know. I think you said you're nearly 6 weeks. I think book a scan. At least then you'll know either way.

OP posts:
gizmo167 · 13/02/2021 11:32

Thanks @Pancakes7 yea my by calculations I would be 6 weeks tomorrow

Pancakes7 · 13/02/2021 12:05

@gizmo167 then I definitely recommend getting a scan.

OP posts:
PumpkinEverything · 13/02/2021 12:38

I think booking a scan would be a good idea @gizmo167 if it’s an option for you. At least either way it would give you peace of mind as to what’s happening. I think the unknown is one of the harder parts

gizmo167 · 13/02/2021 12:54

Thanks girls, I may give the epu a ring at start of week

dippyegg32 · 13/02/2021 13:25

God anxiety has set in massively. I need to remind myself of the fact my temps are still over 37, i now have a (faint) line on a non digital clearblue too and very clear lines on frer, I also have a lot of wet cm. roll on Thursday and my visit to the consultant.

Tell me a joke ladies Grin

Pancakes7 · 13/02/2021 13:39

@dippyegg32 That's great, so you're back in 👍🏻🤞🏻🌈

Here's some corny jokes for you lol.

Why wouldn't the shrimp share his treasure?
He's a little shellfish

If athletes get athletes foot what do elves get?
Mistletoe

How does a penguin build its house?
Igloos it together

Why did the scarecrow win an award?
Because he was outstanding in his field

The athletes one 😂

Has anyone used the progesterone pessaries before, it’s cyclogest and put it in vaginally (the other option is rectally) and I think it’s the cause of low down pain and brown discharge as it started the day after I started on those. I had a google and there is a lot of people with the same of cyclogest as apparently it can irritate your cervix.
But obviously hard not to think it’s the start of an early MC. So I think my chances are 50:50 at the min.
Still strong positives, stronger than a few days ago, so trying to stay positive.

Mysleepingangel · 13/02/2021 14:51

Hi ladies

I'm just watching here because I'll try to ttc from next month but I've just learned a lot from just reading.

I had a late miscarriage in Nov 2019 and since then haven't been brave enough to try again. I'm now at the point where I might try again..

Can I ask what those progesterone pressies are for? Also what vitamins I should take? I've been taking vit d and folic acid for a while now.

Thanks guys (might be back next month if its a positive!)

Strawberry08 · 13/02/2021 14:53

@Mysleepingangel hello! Progesterone is used for women who have recurrent miscarriages to help to try and prevent them, but there is no real evidence either way to suggest how successful it is but it’s usually the doctors first thing to try.
Vit D and folic are the important ones, but an allround multi vitamin is good too to include b12 etc. X

Pancakes7 · 13/02/2021 15:00

@Mysleepingangel careful of a general multivitamin as if you do get pregnant there are some vitamins you should avoid. This nhs link is helpful.

Also this is the thread most of us came from if it helps. It's a lovely group of women all very supportive.

@Strawberry08 Sorry I don't have any experience with guys but I have used pessary before I find it very difficult mine just fell out LOL. Maybe worth contacting your doctor that's given you them for their advice.

OP posts:
Pancakes7 · 13/02/2021 15:02

Should say any experience with those ** not guys lol

OP posts:
Mysleepingangel · 13/02/2021 16:06

Thank you @Pancakes7 and @strawberry08

I have only had one loss, and it was at 20 weeks. To do with infection and cervix.

Would I be given progesterones if I asked my gp? And what about baby aspirin?

Basically I'm really scared to lose another when I fall pregnant so I'd rather do something to try and and prevent that

Pancakes7 · 13/02/2021 16:20

@Mysleepingangel I'm so sorry for your loss, especially so far along. That must have been very difficult. Sorry I don't have any advice. What was the infection that caused it? I think it would be a good idea to speak to your gp about what preventative measures you can take. Worth asking on the other thread as there's more users so you might get someone with more experience. Fingers crossed for you x

OP posts:
dippyegg32 · 13/02/2021 16:49

@Mysleepingangel I'm so sorry to hear that. Have you had / could you have a debrief with the consultant to ascertain what caused the infection and what protocols could be put in place this time?

Firevie · 13/02/2021 17:24

@Mysleepingangel I’ve been given cyclogest- I’m bit rubbish in putting them in. So not sure how much actually goes ‘in’:) I’ve been taking them since Thursday....so far so good xxx

imisscoffee · 13/02/2021 17:34

Hopefully your bloods will put your mind at ease @dippyegg32. Hi @Mysleepingangel, so sorry for your loss. I lost my son at 17 weeks and it's terrifying to think it could happen again. Does your hospital offer maternity bereavement counselling? Mine offer 6 free sessions and I'm finding it really helpful being able to talk about what happened without worrying about upsetting someone. They might offer advice towards considering TTC too x

Mysleepingangel · 13/02/2021 18:38

@dippyegg32 @firevie @imisscoffee

Thank you ladies @imisscoffee I'm so sorry for your loss. I had a little boy too. Hardest thing I've done is to bury him in his little coffin.

I did have a bereavement midwife and have a plan with the consultant for future pregnancies. I chose to find the consultant myself as he's one of the best for my situation.

I'm not sure why I'm even messeging here other than to find out what I could do differently and what might help.

Thank you ladies for listening 🙈I'm so sorry for barging like that
