Pregnancy after loss - Autumn babies 2021

Hi All, I have only just got my BFP and it's still faint atm. I had an mmc in May 2018, I then gave birth to my son May 2019. I had another mmc July 2020 and have been ttc ever since. I just got my BFP yesterday, so very early days. I'm not ready to join both groups quite yet. I thought this could be a space for us all going through pregnancy after loss. As we all understand the nerves/anxiety that go with this. I hope it's useful.

A bit of back ground on me. I'm 33, married. I have a 20 month old son. I haven't returned to work yet since maternity. I returned for 2 weeks then was put on furlough. I will be going back part time, doing 3 days.

@Firevie I haven’t changed my diet much - although I have had to spread my food out across the day as I feel quite sick every 2hrs ish if I don’t eat! So I try and make most of the extra snacks fruit so I don’t feel guilty! Most of my trousers won’t do up now though (i was wearing them fine over the Christmas hols!) so I don’t think it bodes well for me and weight gain! I’m hoping it’s a good sogn things are progressing ok (and that it’s bloating) as I am only 7+5!

@Pancakes7 We haven’t told anyone yet - I’m telling my mum tomorrow before we go to the scan because she’ll be too anxious if I tell her before (she is very empathetic and will be as worried as me about what the scan shows) first time I told my mum and 2 close friends at about 8 weeks (then had the mmc) and last time I told them I had had another mc. I don’t plan on telling anyone else just yet - this time I just wanted to keep it quiet as I have been trying really hard to not obsess too much. I know my friends will be looking out for me so will keep checkkng on me but I have found keeping my mind occupied on non pregnancy things has been good at keeping some of the anxiety away! But I would tell them if the news tomorrow wasn’t great, as I know they’re a great support!

Bellabubble · 12/02/2021 16:36

@gizmo167 I have my fingers crosses for you that this is just some spotting and nothing more 🤞🏻 X

Pancakes7 · 12/02/2021 16:48

@Bellabubble I get what you mean I know my mum get as stressed as me when it's me going to scan. I'm going to keep it mostly quiet here. I might even keep it quiet after my 12 week scan well that's how I feel at the moment anyway. Especially since I have gone back to work yet since my maternity 🙈 (they furloughed me) I don't care though I really want us to go well not bothered what work think.

Hi @gizmo167 I hope you are doing ok. I do understand your frustration and almost disheartened emotions. I’m in a similar situation to you. Ive had two losses. Pregnant again. (Currently 6.5weeks according to LMP. But have been measured to only 4weeks - which makes no sense with my dates as I know when i ovulated/conceived)

I have been bleeding non stop for nearly two weeks. Started off as brown spotting but very quickly moved to a period type flow. No clots and not mega heavy as my periods usually are. But still, 2 weeks of bleeding cannot be normal. I have gone to the EPU several times since and it’s given me some sort of support as they checked my HCG twice and showed good progress. At the first scan they couldn’t locate the pregnancy, second time the did see a sac in the uterus. I now have to wait 2 weeks before my next scan. I have no idea if I’m going to make it til then, and so feel really rotten.

We have been trying nearly a year for DC1 and I like you, cannot deal with another loss it rips me apart.

How far along are you? I know this time is incredibly stressful, sort of anticipating the worse but deep down we are so vulnerable to the situation. If you feel you are far enough to be able to see something on a scan, I would really recommend going to the EPU. Only because, they will be able to give you some answers of what’s happening rather than you feeling really crap and potentially stressing yourself and your bean out unnecessarily.

It’s all your decision of course, wishing you all the very best xx

Pancakes7 · 12/02/2021 19:18

@NI101 I'm so sorry for the worry you're going through. I hope your next scan can give you answers. Hopefully positive ones. 🤞🏻

@NI101 thank you hun & I am so sorry you're going through this, it really is heart wrenching! I reckon I am 5week 5 days today so by start of week will be the 6 week mark. I just feel it's gone & am just waiting on the bleeding starting, I really dont think I could cope with weeks of not knowing only for what I knew to happen anyhow!

Strawberry08 · 12/02/2021 20:33

Oh girls, the anxiety is creeping in badly this evening. Got some very low down cramps and not feeling hopeful 😢

Pancakes7 · 12/02/2021 20:46

@Strawberry08 don't worry cramps can be normal in early pregnancy. X

OP posts:
Strawberry08 · 12/02/2021 21:14

@Pancakes7 gosh it’s so hard not to worry. It feels like period type cramps but just lower down than normal and not bad enough that I need pain killers. Really odd. Praying it’s not another MC

Pancakes7 · 12/02/2021 21:17

@Strawberry08 I'm still in my weird denial I think. As mine were missed miscarriages, I won't get any symptoms of an mc. It's just a wait till the scan. Although my first mmc I did start bleeding. It was 5 weeks after it had stopped growing though. I think I'll start being more anxious when it's close to a scan date.

OP posts:
Pancakes7 · 12/02/2021 21:18

@Strawberry08 I am having bad insomnia though. I wake at about 2/3am and can't get back to sleep. I think that's my anxieties coming out.

OP posts:
Strawberry08 · 12/02/2021 21:34

@Pancakes7 my first two were also missed miscarriages, after seeing a heart beat in a previous scan 😢 then I had two chemicals, but with those I only ever got very faint tests that didn’t progress so this ones definitely not one of those!
I’m wondering if it’s like completely unrelated tummy trouble from progesterone bloating or something!
It’s subsided now so fingers crossed.
Aw bless you, that’s definitely worry on your mind. It will be easier after we get through the first week I think 😊 x

Pancakes7 · 12/02/2021 22:01

@Strawberry08 With the chemicals did you get a positive digital test? I worried with mine not being super dark. But I'm still early. My af was due tomorrow I think.

OP posts:
Strawberry08 · 12/02/2021 22:08

@Pancakes7 I did but they were super faint and never got darker. I wouldn’t have got a positive digital with either of them. I think yours are pretty dark considering your period is just due, so think you’ll be just fine!

Pancakes7 · 12/02/2021 22:12

@Strawberry08 Thanks. Sorry I think it's just testing so early I start to wonder. Ok back in denial lol. I think I'm going to go to bed. Hopefully I'll sleep better tonight.

OP posts:
PumpkinEverything · 12/02/2021 23:06

I think your tests are looking good @Pancakes7 so I don’t think they would be a chemical 😊 I think you should tell your friend who is having the baby so if anything was to happen (which I seriously hope it doesn’t) she can maybe try to be a bit more careful around you! Having support is just so important I think.

@Strawberry08 I think the cramping is normal. I’ve been getting mild period like cramps, tugging, fullness sometimes, sometimes one sided but on both sides 😂 from what I can gather from other girls due in October this is normal! So don’t worry yourself with it if you can.

Pancakes7 · 12/02/2021 23:53

@PumpkinEverything Thanks. Not starting off well tonight. My son who's normally a good sleeper keeps waking up the minute I go to sleep. Then my mind is over thinking, so taking me ages to get back to sleep. Yeah I think I will tell her. She knows about last time and has been really understanding and not mentioning her pregnancy.

OP posts:
dippyegg32 · 13/02/2021 07:06

I'm out everyone. Tests are lighter. I'm having a chemical. All the best.

Pancakes7 · 13/02/2021 07:09

@PumpkinEverything I did another cheap strip this morning and it was much darker so that's made me feel happier. I'm still feeling a bit like I've not fully taken it all in yet. But I am feeling sick, I think it could be nerves rather than hormones. Or a combination. I am finding it hard to eat sometimes. Especially in the morning.

OP posts:
Pancakes7 · 13/02/2021 07:10

@dippyegg32 I'm so sorry to hear this. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it sticks 🤞🏻

dippyegg32 · 13/02/2021 07:38

Unfortunately it seems from reading online and talking to a friend in the same boat, frer tests hold on to residual HCG for a long long time even through a first period and after other tests going negative. So seems I'm one of those. I'm going to have bloods done on Thursday.

marplemead · 13/02/2021 07:45

@dippyegg32 I'm so sorry Flowers

dippyegg32 · 13/02/2021 10:11
