Pregnancy after loss - Autumn babies 2021

Hi All, I have only just got my BFP and it's still faint atm. I had an mmc in May 2018, I then gave birth to my son May 2019. I had another mmc July 2020 and have been ttc ever since. I just got my BFP yesterday, so very early days. I'm not ready to join both groups quite yet. I thought this could be a space for us all going through pregnancy after loss. As we all understand the nerves/anxiety that go with this. I hope it's useful.

A bit of back ground on me. I'm 33, married. I have a 20 month old son. I haven't returned to work yet since maternity. I returned for 2 weeks then was put on furlough. I will be going back part time, doing 3 days.

@Mysleepingangel Don't be silly it's good to talk to people who understand. I would definitely also join the other thread I linked. I found it so so helpful. I'm glad you've got a consultant and bereavement midwife. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you for next time. X

@Mysleepingangel your hospital sounds fab, glad you're in good hands. It's such a shitty situation to be in x

Heya! I had my scan this afternoon - and I hadn’t really prepared myself to hear good news! But my dates match up, and we heard a strong fast heartbeat. The lady was so good and talked us through so much and said that hearing the heartbeat with that strength and rhythm has already dropped my mc rate down to less than 2% I’m still cautious - but do feel a lot less anxious this evening at least!

Strawberry08 · 13/02/2021 20:25

@Bellabubble yay!! Amazing news, congratulations that’s so exciting!

Pancakes7 · 13/02/2021 20:26

Aw amazing news @Bellabubble !! I'm so glad. How many weeks are you again?

OP posts:
Bellabubble · 13/02/2021 20:36

Thank you! I’m 7+6 today :)

Pancakes7 · 13/02/2021 20:38

@Bellabubble Amazing. I bet you feel much better. I know you'll still be anxious, but it's looking good! I feel like waiting 4 Weeks is going to seem like forever!!

Ok my boobs are feeling painful tonight. I'm kind of glad I'm starting to get symptoms. Even though for me they're not reassurance as I had symptoms with both mmc's. I don't feel sick though so not sure if that will come later or if this pregnancy is just different.

PumpkinEverything · 13/02/2021 21:02

Aw @Bellabubble that’s amazing! Such fantastic news for you to get 😊 I’m sure hearing the risk dropping to 2% has taken a bit of weight of you now.

Bellabubble · 13/02/2021 21:25

@Pancakes7 yeh I definitely feel a bit more reassured - I’m a huge overthinker though so I think there will be a few wobbly moments lol! I didn’t feel any sickness until week 6 - now I just feel like I’m constantly seasick!

@PumpkinEverything yes I do feel like a weight has been lifted! There will still be a part of me that will fixate everyso often on that 2% but I’m going to try very hard to focus on the positive!

Pancakes7 · 13/02/2021 21:30

@Bellabubble Yeah my last 3 pregnancies I felt so sick. It seemed to start straight away though as soon as I found out. But I'm never sure if it's anxiety as well as hormones. Yeah it's understandable to still have wobbles. I had a few when I was pregnant with my son.

@Bellabubble that’s amazing hun! Really pleased for you! I have my scan in two weeks when I’ll be 6.5 weeks! I am def feeling more tired and have sore boobs every now and then. Not sure if it’s a symptom. Last time I only found out I was pregnant at around 6weeks and my boobs were super painful then but that was it. I’m almost hoping for the nausea and other symptoms to kick in so I can relax my mind a little xxx

dippyegg32 · 14/02/2021 06:01

Wow @Bellabubble fantastic!!

Morning all, happy galentines! Can I ask about cycle length and gestation? I know you can amend this on a due date calculator but in terms of thinking how far along you are are you all going by lmp? Or if say, you have a 32 day cycle are you minus 4 days? Or if you have a 24 day cycle are you plus 4 days?

My lmp was 23/1 so by that I'm only 3+1 if I adjust to my cycle I'm 3+5 which makes more sense in terms of when I got my first positive.

Pancakes7 · 14/02/2021 06:13

@dippyegg32 I'm going by lmp which was 18/01 so I'm 3 weeks +6 today, 4 weeks tomorrow. I think it'll probably be amended for you when you have your dating scan. My cycle is 28 days anyway which I think is standard. I know with my son I thought I'd ovulate a few days early and when I went to dating scan they amended my due date to be 3 days earlier so in-line with my thoughts.

Even though your cycle is longer, do you know when you ovulated? I think that can affect it more.

Also Happy Valentine's Day! Or Galentines day!

dippyegg32 · 14/02/2021 06:16

Thanks @Pancakes7 my cycle is shorter 24 days with ovulation cd12/13.

Pancakes7 · 14/02/2021 06:23

@dippyegg32 Oh ok so perhaps you'll find out you're further ahead at your scan. It's worth mentioning to your midwife when you go in at 8 weeks.

Morning ladies....how are we all feeling today? Xxx

Strawberry08 · 14/02/2021 08:11

@Firevie morning! My spotting and pain has stopped now which is great now that I have been using the pessaries up the other route 😂.
However this morning I feel VERY pregnant, I feel like I’ve been hit by a train and very nauseous!!
How are you doing lovely?

dippyegg32 · 14/02/2021 08:11

@Pancakes7 blimey the thought of a mw appointment gave me the fear. If I'm confirmed pregnant at the epu on Thursday (pre-planned appointment long before Id started ttc) and if I'm still pregnant last day of Feb then I'll refer to the maternity unit. I referred at 4w last time, had my booking at 6w and then within days had a mmc.

When are you all referring?

Bellabubble · 14/02/2021 09:06

@dippyegg32 thank you! If zi go by my lmp I’m 7+6 today, and they measured me at 8+1 yesterday - so for me there is about 3 days in it, but my cycles were between 27-29days so that could be why? The app I originally used as birth control (then swapped to plan a pregnancy) says I am 8 weeks today - I used opks and bbt to track my ovulation which happened on cd14 (also the only time we dtd this month lol!) so they are all pretty close. I’m inclined to go with my ovulation day then adding 2 weeks on.

Bellabubble · 14/02/2021 09:07

@dippyegg32 also - I’m doing my “booking in the birth” as my hospital call it today. I didn’t want to donit until I knew things were heading in the right direction!

dippyegg32 · 14/02/2021 09:43

Ah cool, so exciting!

I'm SO bloated, I've not long got dressed but already undone the zip on my jeans. The release was real Grin Also feel stomach achy, not periody but like I've done loads of sit-ups? So of course I'm worried.

Pancakes7 · 14/02/2021 10:35

@dippyegg32 Booking in is normally around 8 weeks here. I think I'll refer at the beginning of March. Then book a private scan for 12th March hopefully. I want to see mw after scan as no point if it's not positive scan.
