Pregnancy after loss - Autumn babies 2021

Hi All, I have only just got my BFP and it's still faint atm. I had an mmc in May 2018, I then gave birth to my son May 2019. I had another mmc July 2020 and have been ttc ever since. I just got my BFP yesterday, so very early days. I'm not ready to join both groups quite yet. I thought this could be a space for us all going through pregnancy after loss. As we all understand the nerves/anxiety that go with this. I hope it's useful.

A bit of back ground on me. I'm 33, married. I have a 20 month old son. I haven't returned to work yet since maternity. I returned for 2 weeks then was put on furlough. I will be going back part time, doing 3 days.

Oh nice @PumpkinEverything ! My dh ate my cheese yesterday! I was so not impressed lol. I didn't notice till I went to make my lunch time sandwich.

@Pancakes7 I don't feel sick at all, I usually do by now. But by far the worst I felt in early pregnancy was when I ended up having the mmc, so that has really taught me that my symptoms mean nothing! I think we're all so used to the idea that sickness is the main indicator of pregnancy going well, but I was still nauseous 3 days into my miscarriage, and it had stopped growing 4 weeks before that.

Pancakes7 · 26/02/2021 09:45

@Garman Yes as I said I was really ill with both my MMC's so symptoms don't mean anything to me either. I think it's just an extra worry now that I don't feel ill as I did feel ill with my son. Out of the four pregnancies this is the first one I haven't felt ill. I know it could just be that this pregnancy is different but it makes me think is there a different problem this time. I'm just having one of those days scared about my scan.

Oh I would have been so cross @Pancakes7 😂 I feel like I’m not nauseous much either, it’s very mild, but I’m having a few food aversions where I just really don’t want them. One that I’ve noticed is butternut squash, and we’ve had three hello fresh meals with it this last week 🤦‍♀️ Last night I just choose not to use it for our meal and replaced it with something else. I’m actually just not wanting most healthy meals, but it seems to be ones with that in it in particular are the worst!

Pancakes7 · 26/02/2021 10:12

@PumpkinEverything Yeah I'm not wanting any of the dinners we've got. I've been having potato waffles and chicken nuggets lol. Now sick of that too. I'm ordering on our shopping curly cries and southern fried chicken lol. Also rolo yoghurts! Plus cheese pizza. 🙈

OP posts:
PumpkinEverything · 26/02/2021 10:24

@Pancakes7 I got curly fries last week 😂😂 had a real craving for them after I saw someone on Instagram having them. Have been loving this, toast/bread, cheese, and then rolo/milkybar/muller muller chocolate fix yoghurts, and thankfully I’ve been able to eat strawberries, raspberries and pomegranate 🤞🏻 Oh and lots of cereal 😂 loving really crunchy cereal

Pancakes7 · 26/02/2021 10:34

@PumpkinEverything You sound just like me with food at the moment LOL. I'm having teacakes a lot though for breakfast instead of cereal as sometimes I can't stomach all the milk. I actually got dominoes yesterday oh my God the garlic bread pizza and the cookies!!! 😋

OP posts:
PumpkinEverything · 26/02/2021 10:44

@Pancakes7 I’m so glad I’m okay with the milk as I know what you mean. I think it could really put me off sometime soon 🙈 haha yes! We got dominos last Friday night and the garlic bread and the cookies (chocolate orange OMG) where the stars of the show for me 😂 I’ve had to properly resist from ordering dominos again the last week

Firevie · 26/02/2021 10:59

Omg reading all your messages are making me so hungry! I feel like other than the occasional lindtor (one piece only) I’ve been pretty boring but good with my food haha. My husband keeps going on about fruits and veggies so I literally eat fruit all day (apples, bananas, mango, oranges) and in the evenings it’s lentils, beans, greens, fish, rice etc. I am craving a PIZZA and mc Donald’s LOL LOL xxx

Pancakes7 · 26/02/2021 10:59

@PumpkinEverything I didn't notice the chocolate Orange cookies but tbh I probably would prefer the classic. I could eat a while box of them 😂 I'm ok with decaf tea still luckily. I just feel very fussy atm. I've just tidied the lounge, well my sons toys... to keep busy. I've got radio 1 on with anthems on so that's helping lol.

Pancakes7 · 26/02/2021 11:00

Wow you're so healthy @Firevie !! Making us look bad 😂

OP posts:
PumpkinEverything · 26/02/2021 11:06

I’m so jealous @Firevie 😂 I am also eating Lindt chocolate, but it’s at least one a day 🙈🙈 I’m really trying to control myself but I’m struggling. I feel like I’m just starving all the time, and I really really don’t want to eat any of the healthy meals I’ve planned. I’m trying to think what I can eat that’s not too bad that still appeals to me but I’m finding it difficult. I was telling my husband and he said should he make me or say no to things and I’m like eh, no you absolutely will not be doing that 😂 it’s not like I’m on a diet and have control over this right now.
@Pancakes7 I’m getting ready to go out listening to a Britney Spears playlist 😂😂 haven’t listened to her in years yet still no all the words from my childhood haha

Pancakes7 · 26/02/2021 11:08

@PumpkinEverything Ooh good choice! I love a bit of Britney! I also know the words 🙈😂 I was listening to J-Lo the other day ' Jenny from the block' 😂

I thought I might sheepishly come over to this thread if that's okay? I've taken two tests this morning so it's still very early for me. Feeling excited but anxious! How's everyone doing?

I'm thinking I'll wait a few days before I tell my doctor/book any scans. Really wasn't expecting it this month so I'm feeling a bit bewildered 😅

So sorry @NI101, take care of yourself lovely xx

NorthernGirl1991 · 26/02/2021 15:50

Hi all, hope it’s ok to join here. I’m currently 5w+5 after a MMC in September. I have a 22 month old daughter. Time is passing so slowly atm and I don’t really feel pregnant. Hope you’re all doing ok x

marplemead · 26/02/2021 15:55

All the food talk is making me hungry too! DH took DD out while I was working yesterday, and I may have ordered a McDonalds Blush The only time I really crave food like that is when I'm pregnant. The nausea is strong today, but I feel okay when I'm eating. I need to stock up on healthy snacks so I'm not reaching for the junk.

@vitaminb33 welcome! Those are very clear positive tests. I remember feeling like that when I got my bfp. Waited a week before I rang the midwives to arrange my booking appointment. Allow yourself some time to let it sink in. How far along are you?

marplemead · 26/02/2021 15:59

@NorthernGirl1991 welcome to the group, and I'm sorry for your loss Flowers And yes, time passes so slowly when you're pregnant. I remember when I was pregnant with my DD I used to visualise the 9 months as climbing a mountain. I don't know why, but it helped. I imagine a 22mo is keeping you busy?

vitaminb33 · 26/02/2021 16:14

Hi @NorthernGirl1991, I'm so sorry for your loss. We're in quite a similar situation, I have a 22 month old son and had a Mmc in November

@marplemead thanks! Yes I'm definitely just processing at the moment- my cycles are quite long, and I think maybe I ovulated late (I had a tiny bit of bleeding a few days ago when my AF was due which I'm now thinking might have been implantation bleeding?). From my LMP I'm 5 weeks but I think I'm probably more like 4 weeks 🤷‍♀️

marplemead · 26/02/2021 16:23

@vitaminb33 I had bleeding on day my AF was due with DD, and I've read it's fairly common.

I've limited looking at my Ovia app to once a week now. I was obsessively checking it everyday with my previous pregnancies, and don't think that was very helpful - it just highlighted how long it takes to move from one vegetable/fruit to the next.

DD and I spent the afternoon making chocolate chip cookies, and normally I'd have polished off a few, but I just don't fancy them. DH responded with 'You're definitely pregnant!'

Pancakes7 · 26/02/2021 17:48

Welcome @vitaminb33 & @NorthernGirl1991 I'm sorry for your losses. Congratulations on your BFP's! I'm in a similar situation I had a MMC in July and have a 21 month old son.

I definitely felt in shock and maybe denial for a couple of weeks after my BFP. I'm just getting my head around it now. I'm five weeks and four days today.

Dh spent the day building ds - turns 3 next week a proper big boy bed from ikea complete with dino tent on top. Up to now ds has been in the cotbed.. Seems like such a big step its as close to getting ready as I will get for quite some time.. The cotbed is going disassembled to the garage for the time being

Pancakes7 · 26/02/2021 17:56

@Smurf123 Oh that's exciting I bet he'll love it. We are looking at one of those toddler beds with the tent thing for my son for future.

OP posts:
Smurf123 · 26/02/2021 18:14

@Pancakes7 he was amazed to see it when he came home this afternoon.... Here's hoping it helps him sleep too! We got the ikea kura bed so that when he's a bit older you can flip it over and it turns into a mid sleeper with a wee den underneath.. He still moves about the bed so much at night time it would be too risky to have him up high yet.. We've even put a bed rail on as even down low it is higher than the cotbed

Pancakes7 · 26/02/2021 18:23

@Smurf123 yes that's the one we looked at!! How funny. Let me know how he gets on with it.
