Pregnancy after loss - Autumn babies 2021

Hi All, I have only just got my BFP and it's still faint atm. I had an mmc in May 2018, I then gave birth to my son May 2019. I had another mmc July 2020 and have been ttc ever since. I just got my BFP yesterday, so very early days. I'm not ready to join both groups quite yet. I thought this could be a space for us all going through pregnancy after loss. As we all understand the nerves/anxiety that go with this. I hope it's useful.

A bit of back ground on me. I'm 33, married. I have a 20 month old son. I haven't returned to work yet since maternity. I returned for 2 weeks then was put on furlough. I will be going back part time, doing 3 days.

Glad you've got your scan booked @PumpkinEverything, not long to wait!

PumpkinEverything · 25/02/2021 14:57

So relieved that it’s not too long of a wait @imisscoffee and just hoping all is okay after last time!
I sometimes feel like there’s a lot dampness but when I go to the bathroom there’s not really anything there on my underwear?! It’s making me paranoid too and I have to keep checking

Firevie · 25/02/2021 15:38

Thanks everyone! Love seeing everyone’s dates for scans! Def feels like we have lots of upcoming scans! May this be the group with all sticky beans!!! I’m so grateful for this milestone today and will stick to my routine of taking each day at a time! Xxx

HereWeGoooo · 25/02/2021 16:01

Glad to hear these successful scans 💕 what a relief for you.
I'm having a worry day again .. god it's tiring! I'm inspecting very closely when I wipe, and have seen a very very slight bit of brown. Has anyone else had this or all totally white/clear discharge? Very minimal but so scared it will develop into red blood and pain.. Trying to relax, everything okay at the moment Xx

PumpkinEverything · 25/02/2021 16:17

@HereWeGoooo think brown is normal as it’s old blood, so wouldn’t worry too much! Mine is all white pretty much, some days barely anything and others a little bit more than normal.

HereWeGoooo · 25/02/2021 16:30

@pumpkineverything I havent seen too much white discharge in my knickers either, but I think because I'm drinking more water, I'm peeing more and therefore wiping more, so it's not actually getting the chance to reach my knickers!
Read on another thread it can be your uterus changing shape, causing old bits of blood to dislodge. Really hope it's nothing. This is so much to go through.

Bellabubble · 25/02/2021 17:04

i got my scan date - it’s ages away! (Well feels like it!) 22nd March so I’ll be 13+1, my early scan was Feb 13th so it’s only a little over 5 weeks but omg it feels like a lifetime 😩

Bellabubble · 25/02/2021 17:05

@Firevie great news for you!! I cried when I saw the besrtbwat flicker and heard it too. In all honesty I hadn’t prepared for good news!

Garman · 25/02/2021 17:25

Hi all, tentatively joining! I'm 4+6 after an mmc in December at 10 weeks. Very strong bfps now, got first one at 8dpo last week, couldn't believe it. Haven't told a soul, not even DH which I know everybody will think is weird. I'm not constantly nauseous like I usually am almost immediately after bfp so it's easy to act normal, and I'm just trying to get past chemical/early miscarriage stage before I make this real.

Epu said after the mmc that I can come for an early scan with any future pregnancies, but I feel like I don't think this will help me, as we had seen a heartbeat at 6+5 last time and it stopped shortly after. Thinking I might just wait it out until the 12 week scan.

Hope everyone is feeling well 🙂

NI101 · 25/02/2021 18:19

Hi Ladies. Unfortunately not so good news from me..

So I wasn’t feeling too great on Thursday as the bleeding had increased. I called the EPU who kindly rescheduled my appointment from the Wednesday to the Friday before. At the scan, I should have been 7.5weeks the GS had grown from 4mm to 10mm but there was no yolk sac, fetal pole or any other structure. I was asked to take a hcg test that day and then again 48hrs later. The results came back on Sunday with a slight decrease but the docs asked to see me again on Tuesday for another scan. Monday night, I was in excruciating pain, and a few hours later I officially miscarried and passed the sac. I was able to store this along with the tissue to take with me to the hospital. On Tuesday, there wasn't much point in doing a scan as I was heavily bleeding and I was certain I had miscarried. The EPU sent the tissue for genetic testing which I wont get back for several weeks. Even so I’m not expecting an answer as most of the time there isn’t a reason. That day I also took a blood test to check thyroid levels which also came back as normal.

I will be taking a short break from the forum whilst I focus my energy on something different.

Wishing you all the best in your journeys ❤️

Welcome @Garman . I'm sorry for your loss. You'll do well waiting to 12 weeks! I can't wait for my scan in only 2 weeks time lol. But if it's good news, I will then book another 2 weeks after just to make sure all is ok still.

Garman · 25/02/2021 19:39

I'm sorry for your loss @NI101 x

@Pancakes7 for me I just dont see the point of an early scan, I have had one at 6/7 week on all 3 previous pregnancies and with the first two all was fine after them, but last time it gave me a false sense of security and the heart stopped the day or two later and I didn't find out for another month. Private scans are €100 here so if I got hooked on scans after the free epu one I'd be broke!

Pancakes7 · 25/02/2021 19:54

@Garman Whereabouts are you? They can be expensive here but I go to a place where they're £65 so not too bad. I'm only allowed 2 my dh says lol. So earlier scans are most worthwhile for me. I did have an early scan last time with a heartbeat but it measured a week behind. In hind sight that should have been a red flag to me. I'll look for that this time. But definitely do what's right for you. Whatever gets you through it.

@Pancakes7 I'm in Ireland.

PumpkinEverything · 25/02/2021 22:04

I am so so sorry @NI101 sending you so much love ❤️

Glad to see you here @Garman 😊 I didn’t tell my husband the first time for a few days either! It’s such a big secret but think it gives you a few days to get your head around it. In terms of early scans I completely get where you’re coming from. I’d have loved to have not got one, but I was honestly driving myself insane. There was only two weeks between my negative test from my MMC (took 5-6 weeks to get it) and then my positive test for this pregnancy, and I was convincing myself something had grown out of the remains from before (I know... I’m insane!) or that it was ectopic due to some weird rectal area pains. So I just needed to go for my own peace of mind for both of those thoughts. I had that scan on Tuesday when I was 7+2, that was a private scan. I also have a scan next Sunday at EPU as they were the same as you and kindly offered one for around the time of my MMC, so I’ll be 8+6 the day I go for that.

@Bellabubble ah feels like such a long wait doesn’t it! I feel like I need them to give me the appointment for bang on 12 weeks as I’ll be demented waiting an extra week and a day like they’re making you do 🙈 it’s good you’ve got the letter now at least so you’ve got the date in your head

Pancakes7 · 26/02/2021 08:06

@PumpkinEverything wow that's a quick turn around, I didn't realise you got pregnant again so quickly. Good though! It took me 6 months this time. Last time with my son it took only 3 months.

Eeek 2 weeks till scan today.

I don't really feel as sick anymore. I'm more just off food. I seem to just want cheese atm lol. Finding it weird that I don't feel sick like I normally do at this stage. The other day was awful but it's what I expected. Anyone else not feeling that sick?

OP posts:
smarty4 · 26/02/2021 09:31

@Pancakes7 my sickness has eased which of course is sending me into panic mode bc that was one of my signs last time with my mmc

So sorry @NI101 Thanks be gentle to yourself

Pancakes7 · 26/02/2021 09:33

@smarty4 I had loads of symptoms with both my mmc's. But it's still worrying me. I'm feeling really anxious today. I suddenly feel like oh God what if this goes wrong. Hopefully just a bad day but I feel like 2 more weeks of waiting feels like forever 🙈 I hope you're ok and not too worried.

OP posts:
PumpkinEverything · 26/02/2021 09:36

I have been very lucky @Pancakes7 😊 it was all very strange for me as throughout my first ‘period’ I was still getting faint lines. I feel so so thankful that we didn’t wait that long.
I love cheese on a normal day, but I’m also eating more than normal too 🙈 I’ve had a lot of cheese toasties, melted cheese on toast, or just slices of cheese on toast 🙈 and we’re both off work today and hopefully going to a food truck place that reopened after winter that sells really nice grilled cheese sandwiches 😂 I’m obsessed!

smarty4 · 26/02/2021 09:38

@Pancakes7 I think for both is us, once you've experienced a loss you are so much more heightened to any little changes in symptoms. I'm trying not to over think it but the worry is at the back of my mind. My early private scan is in 2 weeks too.
