Pregnancy after loss - Autumn babies 2021

Hi All, I have only just got my BFP and it's still faint atm. I had an mmc in May 2018, I then gave birth to my son May 2019. I had another mmc July 2020 and have been ttc ever since. I just got my BFP yesterday, so very early days. I'm not ready to join both groups quite yet. I thought this could be a space for us all going through pregnancy after loss. As we all understand the nerves/anxiety that go with this. I hope it's useful.

A bit of back ground on me. I'm 33, married. I have a 20 month old son. I haven't returned to work yet since maternity. I returned for 2 weeks then was put on furlough. I will be going back part time, doing 3 days.

@Smurf123 @imisscoffee I’m in Year 1/2 split at the mo (but specialised in Early Years and am desperate to get back there lol!) They all found social distancing hard before Christmas - but from a talk with my head today, it seems like it’s keeping social distance (heh!), hand washing and face mask wearing. I’m not sure I am going to be allowed out on playground duty when we have more than one class on the playground either. As the weather gets better and we can soread in the field it isn’t so bad - but when all children come back, we have to put 2 classes on the playground at the same time, about 60 children, and my head doesn’t want anyone running into me or hitting me with a ball. I was worried it sounds really precious of me, but he said with 2 previous miscarriages he doesn’t want me to be put at risk for something that is wasily avoided. I have 2 SEN children that have both learning and behavioural needs, ideally they would both have a 1:1, but with outside agencies stopping coming in for now, we haven’t been able to get that officially for them, so they currently share a 1:1. I have been getting my class LSA to help out as it’s impossible for 1 person. My 1:1 isn’t back until end of March though as she is shielding - so I think my risk assessment is going to have some extra bits in regards to those children, as they have been known to hit/bite/punch etc in their previous class.

@PumpkinEverything @marplemead such great news abiut your scans!! I’m considering getting another one, I wanted to hold out until between 12-20 weeks, but having seen post in various places about people having mc after seeing heartbeats I have gotten mysef in a tizz again! I still feel pretty sick most days - although it’s finally easing a little bit - now it just feels like the tail end of a hangover lol!

Mizzler · 23/02/2021 20:45

I'm really sorry to have upset people. Honestly, I think I was really really unlucky. The stats are very clear that once you've seen a heartbeat and you know everything is in the right place and the right size for your dates etc, your chances of miscarriage are very low.

I'm really sorry I've upset you and freaked you out. FootballThanks

Mizzler · 23/02/2021 20:46

(Please ignore the football - stupid fat thumbs!)

PumpkinEverything · 23/02/2021 20:50

Think it’s just so hard @Bellabubble when you’ve been through a miscarriage, don’t think anyone realises the stress that you’re under during it, and then with another pregnancy.
If you can afford it and it’ll put your mind at ease then I say go for another scan 😊 I think it’s worth the money for mental health.
I need to ring EPU tomorrow to get booked in with them in around 2 weeks as I’m currently 5/6 days away from when it happened last time and they said I could come in next time for reassurance. Hoping that that’ll be enough to get me through to 12 weeks. I’m also hoping I actually get a scan for 12 weeks! The midwife said yesterday they’ve a bit of backlog atm so there could be a delay. I actually looked back at my last pregnancy and I only got 5 days notice for my 12 week scan! 😳 so feels like thats such a long wait

PumpkinEverything · 23/02/2021 20:54

@Mizzler do not be worrying at all! You’re only sharing your story 😊 and it’s always appreciated to know what other people have went through. I think it’s all very messy and confusing. I saw a heartbeat last time, but was measuring a week behind and I didn’t see that as being bad, but when I look back now I think it wasn’t a good sign.
I went to the same place for my early scan today and I noticed the experience was quite different. Last time it felt like the woman did a lot more thorough checks of my ovaries and womb and she mentioned a possible fibroid (which has never been mentioned to me since and I’ve had another 4 internal scans since then between the MMC and today). She was also a lot quieter and measured the baby 4/5 times before finally settling on 6+2 as the longest point, and she mentioned about the baby being so tiny.
This time the woman was really reassuring and measured straight away and only once to tell me I was right on track. She checked my womb and ovaries and said all looked healthy and focused more on showing me the baby and heartbeat

Bellabubble · 23/02/2021 21:05

@Mizzler don’t worry - it was actually a stupid email I got from “what to expect” (I have the app but I don’t remember signing up for emails - they literally just started coming through this week. There was a whole thread about it that I stupidly read - and I really shouldn’t have done as it freaked me out! I also had 2 friends have 2nd trimester miscarriages - so I think I’m just on high alert!

smarty4 · 23/02/2021 21:15

Sorry I don't post much but I'm finding it helpful reading everyone's updates.

I'm 7weeks+1. Nausea is strong and feel awful every day (all day), really out of breath too after the smallest thing. I booked a scan for 14th March which is Mother's Day, I hope I'm not tempting fate but I wanted a scan after 9 weeks (previous pregnancy stopped growing at 8 weeks+2), I know there's no guarantee that just bc I'll be 9 weeks mean I'm in safer zone, but it makes me feel a little better. The place only had the 14th available that weekend annoyingly.

I wanted to ask what vitamins are people taking? I was taking pregnacare but it's not agreeing with me. Any other suggestions?

Pancakes7 · 23/02/2021 21:19

@Mizzler Don't worry at all. We have all had different experiences and it's good to share them. With what we've been through I think any little thing sets us off worrying. But honestly don't feel bad. I hope you're doing ok. X

Pancakes7 · 23/02/2021 21:20

@smarty4 Make sure to take pregnacare with your main meal in the evening rather than the morning. That's what I'm taking and folic acid.

OP posts:
PumpkinEverything · 23/02/2021 22:01

I’m taking pregnacare @smarty4 and I have it with my dinner 😊 same story as you and also hoping to have a scan at 9 weeks as I found out then last time too (baby stopped at 8). I’m not really that nauseous but feel put off a lot of healthy foods right now 😂 and I’m also getting out of breath quicker too! Feel like I am just from walking up the stairs!

Mizzler · 23/02/2021 23:03

I'm taking smarty pants prenatal gummies. I just find that the pills make me have indigestion. I still have to have the gummies with a meal though.

Pancakes7 · 24/02/2021 06:34

OMG was woken up in the night and couldn't get back to sleep for a bit. My boobs are so painful! It feels like someone's been punching me in the boobs. Feeling sick this morning too. I think my hormones must have risen. I'm 5 weeks +2 today.

OP posts:
PumpkinEverything · 24/02/2021 07:56

Mine are pretty sore these days too @Pancakes7 but seems to be mostly when I’m sleeping because I lie on my front and that hurts them 😂

Pancakes7 · 24/02/2021 08:06

@PumpkinEverything Yes they hurt so much last night. Could have been me squishing them 😂

OP posts:
Pancakes7 · 24/02/2021 08:37

@PumpkinEverything I do feel a lot more pregnant today. Boobs still hurt and I just used some new surface wipes which the smell has made me feel sick. I thought I'd feel like this at 6 weeks so I almost wonder if I'm further ahead by a couple of days or so. I was 3 days ahead with my son. I keep thinking just over 2 weeks to scan 🤞🏻🌈

Firevie · 24/02/2021 09:41

Morning ladies! This time tomorrow I’ll be at my scan! Getting quite nervous now but I’m so busy at work that I can’t even properly focus on the scan! Will keep you posted tmr post scan. Can’t wait to see a good scan with a healthy sticky bean tmr. Xxx

Pancakes7 · 24/02/2021 09:43

Ooh exciting @Firevie I'll keep my fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻🌈

How is everyone feeling today?

OP posts:
PumpkinEverything · 24/02/2021 15:37

I’m sure you feel a bit better having some symptoms, even though they aren’t pleasant @Pancakes7

Will be thinking of you @Firevie 😊 not long to go now!

I’m so tired today! My husband has been fixing the car and was out until 1/2am. I went to bed before that but I never really settle knowing he’s going to come in and disturb me, so feel like I wasn’t actually sleeping until then! Then the alarm went off at 6 as we go to Asda for it opening these days and do our shop before work while it’s quiet and there’s no one really in. Also tried to tell myself to behave diet wise as I feel like I’m eating so much rubbish, but I’m currently feeling ravenous and want some chocolate 🤦‍♀️

marplemead · 24/02/2021 15:58

Good luck for tomorrow @Firevie 🤞🏼

@PumpkinEverything hope you get a better night's sleep tonight.

I had a terrible night's sleep last night, and struggled through work today. I know I looked a right mess on zoom, but just didn't care.

HereWeGoooo · 24/02/2021 16:14

After the odd day here and there really panicking that things could come to an end at any moment based on over-analysing any slight symptom or lack of symptom, I had a dentist appointment this morning and came back a different person! I think just getting out the house (been working at home since March 2020 and only live with my partner who still sometimes has to work from the office) and talking to somebody different, really perked up my mood haha! Just shows how much the pandemic is contributing to our worries far more. Too much time to think and worry about this. So I recommend when in worry-mode, get out the house immediately, strike up a random conversation with someone (at a distance!) and go see that there's a world out there! xx

Pancakes7 · 24/02/2021 16:35

@PumpkinEverything thanks tbh I had strong symptoms with both mmc's so it doesn't really reassure me. My son was up in the night though so I've been so tired today. My mums here so I've just had a nap.

@HereWeGoooo I definitely agree, getting out is really good to stop you worrying. I try and meet my friends most days for walks and then see my mum to keep me busy.

MrsTD88 · 24/02/2021 16:59

@HereWeGooo I totally agree! I had to come in to the office today (been working from home since March 2020 too) for some files and it has been so great seeing some faces! We have a skeleton staff who get mail out and deal with cheques, principal documents etc. It has really perked me up.

MrsTD88 · 24/02/2021 16:59

Good luck @Firevie

Bellabubble · 24/02/2021 17:53

I have always loved teaching, but I have consistently said this yesr that I know how lucky I have been to be able to carey in working over this year. It’s a small village school but with a lot of key worker children, so all staff had to be in each day. It makes a difference seeing people everyday!

@Pancakes7 I’m still feeling sick - not actually been sick bit the nausea has just been relentless. It’s starts about 10mins after I wake, and stays until I finally fall asleep, eating gives about 5 mins relief, but I have gone of most food - which just seems cruel lol! Other than that I haven’t really had much else - tired, but I am sort of thinking that is related to work as I have been constantly tired since about Oct last year - we’re due Ofsted to inspect us so our head has been full steam ahead with getting stuff sorted for that - even though we don’t know when they are coming!

I have been getting occasional twinges here and there but nothing major, and weirdly this time my boobs don’t hurt. Sometimes they ache as though they are bruised (like they’ve been hit in a fogjt a few days before or something!) but I had to get new bras from week 7 - they wouldn’t stay squished in my normal bras!
