Pregnancy after loss - Autumn babies 2021

Hi All, I have only just got my BFP and it's still faint atm. I had an mmc in May 2018, I then gave birth to my son May 2019. I had another mmc July 2020 and have been ttc ever since. I just got my BFP yesterday, so very early days. I'm not ready to join both groups quite yet. I thought this could be a space for us all going through pregnancy after loss. As we all understand the nerves/anxiety that go with this. I hope it's useful.

A bit of back ground on me. I'm 33, married. I have a 20 month old son. I haven't returned to work yet since maternity. I returned for 2 weeks then was put on furlough. I will be going back part time, doing 3 days.

@dippyegg32 How are you feeling today? Have you tested again this morning?

OP posts:
dippyegg32 · 14/02/2021 12:21

No I'm not testing anymore. I know it's positive I don't need the anxiety of comparing lines. My temps are still high but got an aching stomach so just waiting to bleed now.

Pancakes7 · 14/02/2021 12:29

@dippyegg32 Good idea, you don't need the extra anxiety. Cramps could just be early pregnancy symptoms. Try and keep positive. X

@gizmo167 I'm so sorry Flowers We've all been there and understand how devestated you must feel. Please look after yourself.

PumpkinEverything · 14/02/2021 12:38

@gizmo167 I am so so sorry to hear that 😔 sending you lots of love.

@dippyegg32 I’m 5+6 today and still getting cramps off and on, and have done since I found out. For this pregnancy I think I had a 28 day cycle so I’m going by LMP, last time I would have had a 45 day cycle so I went on my ovulation day for my dates when I booked my scan and I made sure to always mention it, as 17 days is quite the difference!

@Bellabubble can I ask what your symptoms have been like the last few weeks? Feel like this is all so difficult. My boobs are only mildly sore, last time they were a lot more painful and I’ve been wondering if they’re not as sore this time as it was so recently they were sore before!? (My MMC was in nov). We went for a walk yesterday that we do every Saturday and I got tired halfway through which never happens, and I had a mild headache all day yesterday and then was lying on the sofa with my eyes closed from 945 until we went to bed at 130 (my husband was playing a game and would continue to let me lie there so he can play longer 😂). Haven’t really had any aversions or cravings but feel hungrier than normal, and I’ve only had the mildest of nausea. Just feeling a bit paranoid that I don’t have enough symptoms, and that I can come up with excuses for the ones I do have. I could almost pretend I wasn’t pregnant I think. Bar the sore boobs last time I had no other symptoms, I actually think I had more energy than normal then. I know some people don’t get any, but because of how mine turned out the lack of symptoms just unsettles me!

mrsbitaly · 14/02/2021 12:52

I didn't think I could have children. I fell pregnant with my miracle baby only to find at my scan things didn't go right. I was heartbroken. I fell pregnant again and I'm not going to lie I really didn't enjoy my pregnancy I was constantly in fear. It was fine though and I now have an amazing 9 year old. I fell pregnant again, it never left me the worry in fact I had more private scans then ever before but I now have 13 month old running around crazy.

It's hard, frightening, uplifting, a whole bunch of emotions but I hope at the end of it you get to have the crazy version of you running around like I have after a loss.

Strawberry08 · 14/02/2021 12:55

@gizmo167 I’m so sorry to hear that. That’s really awful news and I’m sending lots of hugs. Please do stay in touch and if you ever need somebody to talk to, you know where we are. Xx

I've worked out I have a bmi over 30, so think I need to be taking 5mg of folic acid rather than 400micrograms. Have any of you had to take extra folic acid before? I'm going to try and get a call with my gp tomorrow to ask if I should take the extra amount.

OP posts:
Strawberry08 · 14/02/2021 14:08

@Pancakes7 sorry I haven’t got experience with taking extra, I just take whatever is in the pregnacare. I agree, think it’s worth checking with the doctor just in case because folic is so important

Bellabubble · 14/02/2021 14:38

@PumpkinEverything My boobs haven’t hurt at all this time - they did the last 2, but this time nothing really. They feel more full, like they are heavier or something, but definitely not sore/extra sensitive like before. I have had a stuffy nose (I have problems with sinusitis anyway and apparently the extra blood during pregnancy can make it flare up) but no real headaches. Sometimes I have felt a little light headed, and I find I tire out quicker. The big difference this time is that I feel pretty sick all the time - as though I’m on a rocky ship in the sea, and whilst I haven’t had any food aversions/smell aversions, I don’t really fancy anything sweet (and I have a huge sweet tooth!) I mostly want savoury. I have also had to eat every couple of hours to keep the sickness from getting to bad - so have been having a lot of cucumber/carrot/celery sticks! I’m tired, but not like the exhaustion some people describe - I have felt the same as I normally would towards the end of a school term - we’ll wait and see what happens this week as it’s half term! If I’m atill feeling tored by the end of a week of chilling, then I guess it will be a pregnancy symptom lol! The sickness didn’t kick in until tail end of week 5 x

Pancakes7 · 14/02/2021 15:17

Anxiety is creeping in today. I can feel if. Worrying that I don't feel sick. But I felt so sick last time and that went wrong. So who knows 🙈

dippyegg32 · 14/02/2021 15:30

I'm defo having a chemical ladies. Just had a positive clearblue but soooo faint frer. I'll just wait for my temps to drop now and to start bleeding and hopefully I'll get bloods done on Thursday appt to confirm. Lots of luck to you all.

Pancakes7 · 14/02/2021 15:40

I'm so sorry @dippyegg32 Fingers crossed for you xx

OP posts:
Strawberry08 · 14/02/2021 16:21

@Pancakes7 it’s still very early and most women apparently don’t get sickness until about 6 weeks and every pregnancy is different. Try not to worry, everything so far has looked great.

@dippyegg32 oh gosh, I’m sorry to hear that. I’m still keeping my fingers crossed for a miracle for you x

imisscoffee · 14/02/2021 16:26

Sending lots of love @gizmo167 and @dippyegg32 Flowers

Pancakes7 · 14/02/2021 17:51

@Strawberry08 Thanks. It's every now and then it creeps in especially at night. Although last night I slept the best I have since I found out.

OP posts:
Strawberry08 · 14/02/2021 18:28

@Pancakes7 of course. I go through highs and lows too. That’s good! I am also finding I am sleeping better now the news has sunk in. Just time is going so slowly 😂

PumpkinEverything · 14/02/2021 18:49

Thanks for sharing @Bellabubble ! Feel like it’s so hard to know what sort of symptoms I should be having. Have felt mildly nauseous a few times today but have then ate something and it’s went away thankfully.

@Strawberry08 can confirm time doesn’t go any faster once you’re further along 😂 can’t believe I’m only 6 weeks tomorrow 😳

Pancakes7 · 14/02/2021 19:06

@Strawberry08 I know omg it feels like the next 4 weeks will take forever!! I'm only 4 weeks tomorrow. I'm so glad to have this thread though. I'd go crazy if I couldn't get it all out on here! lol

OP posts:
Strawberry08 · 14/02/2021 19:11

@PumpkinEverything @Pancakes7
God it really does drag 😂 I wish I was one of those women who was like oops I didn’t even find out until 12 weeks!!

Pancakes7 · 14/02/2021 19:14

Oops I meant to tag @PumpkinEverything in previous post lol.

@Strawberry08 & @PumpkinEverything Omg I always say I wish that I found out after 12 weeks! So much stress avoided lol

OP posts:
PumpkinEverything · 14/02/2021 19:33

I’m the same @Pancakes7 @Strawberry08 it would have been great to have found out at 12 weeks and to have breezed through the anxious stage without worrying

Pancakes7 · 15/02/2021 08:52

Morning! Feeling anxious today as I've booked a phone call appointment with a gp just to discuss if I need extra folic acid. But it makes it feel real and it's scary. My boobs are soooo painful atm on and off. I hope you're all ok today.

OP posts:
PumpkinEverything · 15/02/2021 09:23

I finally used the one digital weeks test I had today. I’m 6 weeks today so held off an extra week in the hopes that it would definitely be 3+ 😊 not that it’s really an indicator of anything, but it’s made me feel a little bit better this morning! I think due to my anxiety this week I’d have had a minor melt down if it said less than that, even though from what I’ve read online that these can be inaccurate
