PS - Hugs to Josey and Upsidedowncake too - sorry for your woes!

LittleMintSpy34 · 08/12/2007 11:43

Morning,

Got some flowers this morning from a friend with a card saying '12 weeks - the worst is over now!'

I haven't told her about the CVS etc, so she wasn't to know. ooops.

China lol at your SIL's story - I was induced at St Mike's last time and it wasn't much fun, but they did take good care of us - it just isn't a very pretty hospital, let's face it. Your condition sounds like a rare one, are you one in a million?

g43 hope you and your little pickle keep well, I'm crossing fingers and toes for you!

Got to go and make lunch for my dad now, some things never change....

debinaustria · 08/12/2007 12:42

Hi everyone, finally got a minute to come on here.

g43 - sorry to hear you're feeling low, here's a hug for you.

littlemi... so nice of your friend to send the flowers, even if timing isn't that great!!

Sophie - you'll relate to this hassle - guests arrived yesterday from Prague for the weekend. I had everything in except bread, so sent ds out this morning for bread - he returned the bakers was closed, I didn't believe him, sent him to the shop - shop was closed, then sent him again, still both closed - AARGH it's a religious holiday - no-one told me!! I have more guests arriving tonight , and needed to buy more stuff for tomorrow's breakfast.Panic station, asked a few locals and they assured m that in th enext town the shops would be open and thank goodness they were. Panic over.. guests will be able to eat tomorrow morning.

Have just got boys and dh out the door to go skiing and I can get on with some jobs in peace.

Enjoy your Saturdays everyone

Thanks everyone for your support. Josey sorry to hear that those dates in May are hard for you too.

ChinaSurprise I'm really sorry to hear you have the same sort of worries as me though for different reasons. Hopefully your baby has settled in a good position and you will have a normal pregnancy. It's really hard somedays when people congratulate me and say it's good your pregnancy will be safe now when really it's more vunerable now that it was in the first three months.

Upsidedowncake my last mc happened because there were complications though we are not sure what when I had the cervical suture at 16 weeks, also I had measles which couldn't have helped but they don't think that killed the baby as he showed no signs of infection or virus. My first baby, also a boy, was also healthy and perfectley formed. With him I went into labour at 20 weeks, no real cause was found though my consultant thought it may have been due to an incompetant cervix which is why I had a cervical sutrue with the last three pregnancies thankfully the first 2 worked and I have two healthy girls. My current consultnat doesn't think I need the stitch and I am reluctant after it caused me to lose my last baby so I am having regular scans to have my cervix monitored though really it may just start opening at anytime.

Upsidedowncake · 08/12/2007 15:03

Hi G43, very hard when you don't know why.

Everyone, even those not in UK, do you all have gales where you are? What are we supposed to do in this filthy weather?

Littlemintspy - love the joke. at the flowers, but so so nice of her as well.

China, so glad your new job is going well. SOunds a good idea to bowl them over with your competence. Maybe try and pretend you look porky rather than pg? The fact that they don't know you is an advantage. Eat loads in front of them and pass it off as a bout of pre-Christmas eating? (or is it that obvious?) If someone didn't know me, I'm sure they would think I was just a porker!

Rolf · 08/12/2007 16:56

G43 - I'm sorry you're feeling anxious. I am too, at the moment. I lost a baby at 19 weeks and I keep recalling things that were going on at the stage I'm at now (almost 14 weeks). I've since had DD so I'm nowhere near the state I was in during my pregnancy with her, but I'm still quite anxious.

Sorry you're going through it too. It's inevitable, but that doesn't make it any easier does it?

ChinaSurprise · 08/12/2007 17:06

Afternoon all - it's always much busier on here when the weather's bad, isn't it? It's pretty grim where we are too, so am curled up on the sofa.
As for pretending to be a porker, har har, I think this is why I've gotten away with it so far! I did know one of the women I'm working with already but she's more a friend of a friend, so I have only seen her a handful of times before and I think I'll be ok - lots of baggy tops!
LittleMy/G43 - all you can both do is wait now and try to relax and not stress, but it is hard, isn't it? My complication is not massively rare - about one in 200, and it's not the most extreme version of the condition as far as they've been able to tell from my scans which means my prognosis is better than some. But it's difficult when medical people tell you all you can do is wait and see - I always want them to be able to fix everything. Hopefully we'll all be fine.

China

LittleMintSpy34 · 08/12/2007 18:14

Aren't the terms the medical profession use about pregnancy and birth derogatory? 'Incompetent cervix' - 'Failure to progress' - 'Failure to thrive' - it's all couched to make you feel like it's somehow your fault!

G43 wishing you lots of luck and hope you manage to keep the worry at bay.

China - I know what you mean about wanting them to fix everything, it's so hard when they don't say 'but it's not serious, just take these tablets for a week and it will all go away!' I always feel like saying 'No, thank you, no harsh reality for me today...'

We put our Christmas tree up today and DS1 (19 months) had the best fun playing with tinsel and baubles - he's currently helping Daddy put up the lights, not sure how much help he's actually being.... I feel better now we've got the tree up, was starting to feel like this whole CVS thing was going to cancel Christmas! Now just got to write cards, do shopping, buy presents, wrap presents, send presents abroad, post cards, get guest beds ready.......aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhh!

sophiewd · 08/12/2007 19:25

Hello all. yes weather filthy here today and very frustrated toddler, was waiting for guests this morning otherwise would have taken her swimming, will do that tomorrow.

Debs, I know what you mean about stuff, we use a breadmaker and when it goes right its good, but there are days when I have to send DH on a rush trip to local spar to get stuff that I have forgotten or bread mucked up. Hope they are not to bad for you

LittleMintSpy34 · 08/12/2007 20:35

Warning - MOAN alert......

am at home on my own as DH has gone out. We were meant to be going out for dinner with some friends tonight, and I've been looking forward to it for ages as I don't get to go out much. Problem is - no babysitter to be had for love nor money!

Now there's no problem with DH going without me - they're more his friends than mine, and it's pointless both of us sitting at home, but I'm still feeling miserable. It's not even that I particularly wanted to see these people, but DH and I haven't been out together for ages, and I really miss it.

and a small part of me is cross because he goes away on business most weeks, and stays with friends when he does, so he gets to go out a lot more than me generally......

MOAN OVER.

however, I draw the line at doing my tax return on a Saturday night - might as well give up and wear pajamas all day if I do that!

Upsidedowncake · 08/12/2007 20:52

And there's bloody nothing on TV either. Worse still, I thought with dh away I could watch wonderful movie romances, and there's nothing on video on demand I haven't seen.

And I need to do my tax return too, and now you've made me feel guilty, littlemintspy!

Have pyjamas on, but I think that's OK as none of my trousers fit!

LittleMintSpy34 · 08/12/2007 21:00

Nuffin on the telly, and our Freeview is acting up so what little there is is pixellating all over the place.

Gah.

Am giving serious consideration to pajamas but it would involve going upstairs to get them. Far too much effort!

Still, 48 hours is over so fingers crossed we are less likely to have a MC now than we were. Now just two days to get through till test results. Am very worried that if the call comes when I'm at work, I'll burst into tears whatever the results! Might have to find an empty meeting room every time the phone goes. Could be an interesting day.

Josie57 · 08/12/2007 21:58

Littlemy - so glad everything is going well for you and I will keep my fingers and toes crossed for you next week.

I'm really hoping for some better weather tomorrow as my ds1 is desperate to go out. On the plus side we did start to rip the wallpaper off what we hope will be the new nursery! I think my dh feels better knowing he is doing something for the new baby which is really rather touching.

I have to say that I was really glad my parents came to visit they loved all the new things my ds was doing and he made my mum's day by asking her for cuddles. Funnily enough my dad was just as chuffed by my ds bringing him his shoes. I guess it's the small things!!

Josie57 · 08/12/2007 22:01

Managed to lose half my last post due to a dodgy internet connection.

We had my blood results back on Friday and our adjusted risk for ds is now 1:89 which is a lot lower than we were hoping for. So they have booked us in to see the consultant on wednesday but it feels like a long wait until then. I'm definitley on an emotional rollercoaster at the moment as even the littlest things seem to make me emotional at the moment - but I guess that is pregnancy for you...

Upsidedowncake · 08/12/2007 22:14

May time pass swiftly for both Josie and littlemintspy. Keeping everything crossed for you.

Off to bed, I guess.

LittleMintSpy34 · 08/12/2007 22:22

Sending you lots of [hugs] Josie57 - I know exactly how you feel!

Strangely, now the CVS is over I feel much better - it's kind of out of my hands now. The decisions are the hardest, I think.

Bed for me too, 10:30 on a Saturday night, it's not impressive is it!

josey · 08/12/2007 22:42

weather is howling here and peeing down, though thankfully it was very cold and crisp during the day, we went on a santa train sang carols ate mince pies and met santa, DS was delighted cause everyone on the train sang happy birthday to him.

Deb - how were all your guests this weekend. Ours had an 18 month old baby who woke us up at 1.30 in the morning screaming his head off for about 20 mins.
