Forgot to say that despite a sleeping baby at the scan I am feeling lots of movement which really surprised me as I was only about 10.5 weeks when I started feeling it! It's quite nice though

aberdeenhiker · 07/12/2007 08:24

Hi, glad your scan went well Josey and I'm sending good wishes to everyone else waiting for test results. I think I'm glad they don't do that test here!

I've been off all week with a sick toddler - he was glued into my arms so I haven't had much chance to check the computer. It's great to catch up with everyone. I'm starting to wonder if I'm feeling the baby but I can't tell (I didn't know with DS until I was at my 20 week scan when the sonographer managed to convince me that was my child and not just gas!).

TwilightSurfer · 07/12/2007 09:10

Morning ladies. I'm pregnant!!! AGAIN. Four weeks post MC and already joining a new ante-natal thread. IS THAT AMAZING OR WHAT! There's no way around maternity swimwear now.

ernest · 07/12/2007 09:18

ts I'm so pleased ofr you. this happened to my sil, pg again a month later and had a trouble free pg and now a lovely not-so-trouble-free gorgeous dd

Good luck and congratulations

katyjo · 07/12/2007 09:40

Ernest - what a rough night for you, good luck with the packing, are you off to see Dh for the weekend?

TS - I am soooo pleased for you, that's brilliant news, and thanks for coming back to tell us. So, will it be a July or August baby?

TwilightSurfer - congrats! That's wonderful news

josey · 07/12/2007 10:32

Josie glad your feeling a bit better about things

Ernest big hugs hope your DH spoils you this weekend and makes you feel better, I hope you DS isnt too sick for the flight.

Aberdeenhiker, when are you getting your 20week scan again? mine is the 17th Jan sure your about then as well.

Twighlightsurfer WOW congrats thats amazing hope you have a wonderful pregnancy when will you be due?

I have DD's swimming lesson this morning, and we are going to collect our Xmas tree on the way back, DS will be 8 on Sunday so in for a busy weekend, thankfully im feeling alot better today, though I bet I have just jinxed it lol x

ernest · 07/12/2007 10:34

well, he will be there, but we're flying over for mil funeral/memorial service - she was cremated last month. tomorrow there's a church service and burying her ashes. Dh is an athiest so he's not happy about it tbh, so it's all going to be very stressful. And now ds3 poorly, he's got a sky high temp. sigh. Why bloody today?

I'm so tired, I've got a pounding headache. moan moan. And just realised I was supposed to wrap up all of the present we made and I forgot.

And I forgot to plan when shopping, so about to chuck out LOADS of fruit & veg Luckily dh isn't here cos he'd moan like mad.

aberdeenhiker · 07/12/2007 11:48

josey - my scan's on the 18th - one day later. January still seems like a long way away but it'll come soon...

dylansluckymum · 07/12/2007 12:41

ernest when it rains it pours! sorry it's all piling up on you. dp also moans enormously if i end up having to throw away food. hope the little ones are feeling better and you get a bit of a break!

twighlightsurfer CONGRATS!!! so happy for you.

glad your feeling better josey, hopefully you'll soon find out all is well - same with you littlemy!

i felt a bit of movement at 12 weeks. not much this week though. with ds it felt like a fluttering butterfly but this one was more like someone very lightly flicking me on the inside, or maybe bubbles popping, right under the top of my pubic hair. that must have been the baby right? i'm not so sure now it's stopped!

TwilightSurfer · 07/12/2007 12:55

Thanks ladies. I do miss this thread but I'm very glad to finally be on another.

By my estimates my EDD is 18Aug. So only a little off from my old 09Jun date.

Glad everyone's growing nicely. Josey I'll check back to see if you post your scan pic.

{{{twilight waves to everyone}}}

Rolf · 07/12/2007 13:51

Congratulations TwlightSurfer. So pleased for you

Poor you Ernest. The thought of flying with 3 children makes my blood run cold, let alone an ill child. Hope things improve and hope the memorial service goes well.

Dylansluckymum - I'm SO glad to read your post. I have been quietly become panicky as I thought I felt some movement a week or so ago, but since then not a thing. I really don't want to push to bring forward my scan (not for another 10 days or so), nor do I want to obsess about counting down towards it, but it is so difficult.
How is your friend doing, by the way? She is still in my thoughts and prayers. x

Upsidedowncake · 07/12/2007 14:03

Twilight, that is brilliant news. I'm so happy for you.

Ernest, I really hope it all goes well. So hard flying with a sick child, but can you tell the airline? I was wondering if your MIL's service was this weekend. I'll be thinking of you. DH flies out to the US tomorrow for his mom's op.

Josie, glad you're doing better.

Littlemy, how are you feeling?

Dylansluckymum and others of you who can feel their babies - WOW!

Aberdeen hiker - miserable having a sick child.

Well, I just put ds down in his big bed for his lunchtime nap, so we'll see how it goes! Is anyone else with a two-year-old starting to think about moving their bubs into bigger beds?

Har · 07/12/2007 14:22

Hi everyone! Disgusting and rainy here and been out all day (losing my umbrella half way through) with first my nuch scan and then an hour and a half break (but not long enough to get home and back again) before midwife appointment. It was wonderful to see the baby, lots of prodding and jumping up and down to get baby in right position (felt so mean, it curled up on its tummy at one point and sucked its thumb maniacally the next!) but got the neck measurement (1.1) and a couple of photos. Was a bit confused about the end result though (once blood test had been factored in) and am going to post a thread on it in 'pregnancy'.

Deb - I'm not in the snowy part, just the rainy dark miserable part. All cars have to have winter tires though so we're well prepared! Great you're feeling better and beginning to eat for two!

Ernest - so sorry you're feeling so shitty and that everything's piling up on you. Sounds miserable . Do hope things cheer up soon, at least with you and your child feeling better. Take care of yourself.

Littlemy - hope you're coping with the wait. Sounds like they're taking great care of you though which is good. And crumpets, mmmm.

G43 - lol about the shopping!

Josey - Glad that the scan went well and very exciting about feeling movement.

Josie57 - really hope it's all ok with you, it sounds very promising that you have movement though. That must feel wonderful!

And Twilight, congratulations!!! What brilliant news!!!

Well I have to go and see the town's Christmas lights being turned on now (and it's still raining). Then supper at my grandmother's which will be cosy!

needahand · 07/12/2007 18:01

Hi all, good to catch up with everyone

debs I am glad your sickness is easing slowly, hopefully it should be the end of it

going 43 I blame feeling the movement already on my slack muscles too!

Josey Glad your scan went well, it can be so stressful. When we were waiting for a doctor to see me, my DH has same reaction as yours saying "we really have to get that doula sorted" (I tried to explained that she didn't have any medical expertise but I don't think that sunk in!)

Ernest sending lots of sympathy your way, I hope you get through the flight and weekend ok

Josie all the best in these stressful times, don't worry about the midwives, they are probably only meaning well

Twilight surfer this is the BEST news ever. I am so very chuffed for you!! Wouldn't you consider staying on our thread? After all it is only 4 weeks apart and we were your buddies first? If you don't would you come and give us some news everynow and again? I hope you have the most fabulous and smooth pregnancy every.

Have a good weekend all

LittleMintSpy34 · 07/12/2007 21:31

Hello lovely people,

Have been out of computer reach all day at my mum's so she can help with DS1 - bless families! Back home now and trying to catch up - my other thread has turned into a full blown debate about Down's Syndrome, it's a bit daunting...

Hope all are well.

Josie57 - sorry to take so long to answer, we were told 48 hours was the crucial time for MC after CVS, although as pregnancies with abnormalities have a high risk of MC anyway, we could miscarry anyway if there was something wrong with the baby. And I think they only do CVS up to 14 weeks because after that they can do an amnio, which has a lower risk of MC, although again if you reach 15 weeks your chances of having a healthy pregnancy are better anyway, so noone knows if the lower risk with amnio is just because the pregnancy is more likely to be healthy, iyswim.

Twilight - congratulations! that's fantastic news, stay with us, go on, do.

ernest - hope the flight goes ok, sorry it sounds like a rubbish time for you.

Feeling ok, have come to the conclusion that worrying is pointless, so trying to enjoy the weekend. More crumpets!

ChinaSurprise · 07/12/2007 21:51

Evening all. No doubt you're all tucked up under the duvet with exhaustion or putting other DC to bed but here I am, watching the Tudors with one eye and catching up on all the news with the other.
Well, first of all, LittleMintSpy (the name took me a while as well!) - I'm glad you had a good experience at the hosp - and I hope the weekend doesn't drag too long. I'm in south Bristol and my midwife is at Knowle clinic - she is utterly lovely and I'm chuffed to have her. St Michael's is a bit of a strange place - I'm not keen on the delivery ward, but they are a teaching hospital which means they have the best consultants.
Anyway, I'll be thinking of you, and Josie too - I hope you both get good news.
I decided not to have the nuchal scan, but my mw has talked me into having the blood tests, which will be done in a couple of weeks - I'll let you know how they go.
Re all the other updates, TS I'm so glad to hear your news - how amazing :-)
Deb - I hope your itching stops soon - poor you!
As for me, I'm feeling good this week. My new job is great - I LOVE it - the team are nice and the work is really interesting. I haven't told my new boss I'm pg yet. I was going to on the first day, but there's a lot to get to grips with and I've been given a major project to do - I want to get some of it done so that he's got faith in me, before I tell him. I'll hang fire another month if I can hide it that long, as I'm starting to look properly pg now, but I'll wait till after Christmas at the least.
As for movement, I've thought I felt something a couple of times, but it's so hard to tell, esp as this is my first one. Who knows?

LittleMintSpy34 · 07/12/2007 21:58

Hello China [waves at ChinaSurprise]

I'm not keen on delivery at St Mike's either - had DS1 one there and they were ok but not amazing. Hoping for a home birth with this one if it all turns out ok, but I'd be a VBAC so who knows if they'll let us.

good luck with the bloods! Is the Knowle clinic that spangly new one on what used to be an old school site?

Brilliant about your new job - sounds fab.

As for my Christmas name - you kind of have to say it out loud, don't you? It's from a joke my dad told every Christmas about a man arrested for hanging around the Royal Mint - he was charged with being a Mint Spy.....ho ho ho.

Never said it was funny....

josey · 07/12/2007 22:26

Hello
I have managed to post two of my scan pics, my scanner isn't working prob due to dd sitting on it hmmm! so I took photos, they look ok though, one of the pic's bub is staring right at me.

Needahand, my DH was so determind I was going to the hospital until all the staff were grumpy the place itself isnt very nice and the consultant who was lovely said I dont see the point in you coming in unless there are complications you will be sent home 4 hours after baby is born

China glad you are enjoying your new job.

Twighlight please dont leave us totally I like it when you come in, my dd is the 30th of Aug its a nice time of year, though you are in America and although I cant remember where im sure you will have a time suffering in the heat.

Littlemy lol at your dads joke, why do dads always have a bad joke they tell every year and are shocked if you remember the punch line

Put up our tree today, well the dec's were up and down up and down, dd was putting them on and had to take them back off again and I hate to say it cause its kids time but im so fussy about my tree

Aberdeenhiker did you see the Doric speaking train on the news, we are thinking about going to see if we can go there tomorrow it looks brilliant. Your Ds would love it.

TwilightSurfer · 07/12/2007 22:41

Josey the pics are totally cool. And yes, the heat will not be pleasant this summer when I'm the size of a bus. The worst heat will be around my delivery time so maybe that will work out to my advantage.

I'll poke my head around the corner and say hi often. Happy Growing!!!

goingfor3christmaspuddings · 08/12/2007 09:46

I'm feeling really over sensitive this morning. I am at exactley the same stage of pregnancy when I started to get ill last time, and mc'd on what would be wednesday I am so gald I have a scan on wednesday. I really feel as if I am comming into the vunerable stage of my pregnancy and just want to get past 9th of Jan as than I will be the smae stage as I was when I mc'd my first at 20 weeks and it's also one day past the due date of my last baby. This baby is due 3 days after my first was 26/29th of May so the dates stick clearly in my mind. I think DP being away for a couple of days is making me think about it more.

Upsidedowncake · 08/12/2007 10:22

I'm sorry it's a tough time for you, Goingfor3. And not helped by the days matching.

Do they / you know anything about what happened and when? (I'm thinking that if the scan was good, perhaps you've passed the danger period or something, iyswim?)

My dh is away too in the States for his mom's operation, so let's keep each other company.

josey · 08/12/2007 10:27

G43 big hugs, I can understand why you are feeling sensitive, try and have some me time later and light a little candle for your other babies, those dates in May are crap dates for me also but for different reasons. I lost my dad on the 26th and my B'day is the 27th.
Sending you some mumsnet love xxx

I have an awful pain in my right side, its kept me awake half the night I think it might be my (sp) Psyatic Nerve, surely im not going to be plaged this early with it

anyway happy Saturday everyone

ChinaSurprise · 08/12/2007 11:00

Morning all
[waves back at LittleMintSpy] - your dad's joke made me chuckle - dad jokes are the best.
As a first timer I've not experienced delivery at St Mikes, but when I was a reporter for the Post I'd get sent to both hosps to interview the new mums and take pix of their babies for the paper (great job btw). Southmead's nurses were usually less stressed and friendlier - and the wards were never as busy. But I know two people who had serious problems with their deliveries at Southmead - one ended up badly injured herself and is now suing the hosp and the other had a child with CP because he got stuck and they didn't spot it, so who knows? I think St Mikes just get really busy, and you have to put your foot down to get admitted sometimes. My SIL had probs getting them to take her as she had a quick labour with her DS - they were saying "Well, you've not been in labour very long, how do you know it's time". To which she replied, "Because I've got a head coming out of my vagina." Hahaha. They got her into a suite pretty sharpish after that! I'd also like a HB but as I've got this condition I'm not sure I'll even get to have a VB - if the baby lies transverse then CS is the only option.
G43 - I really hope everything goes well for you this week and will be thinking of you - my condition means that mc at 20 weeks is also a significant risk for me, and it's so hard sometimes to be in the so-called "safe" zone and still feel like you're not home free. I wish you all the best.
