sorry my post is a bit garbled, told you I was tired hope you can understand it!

Mossy · 25/11/2007 21:28

Sorry to interrupt ladies but it's that time of the month again! Are any of you in Merseyside and thinking about breastfeeding? Look here for details of an antenatal breastfeeding workshop this Thursday, especially for pg ladies. It's not a "sales pitch"; no one is going to try and "talk you into it"; it's more of a "how to" so that if you do go down the bf route, you'll be prepared once you've given birth.

And there's free biscuits. And tea. And coffee.

TwilightSurfer · 25/11/2007 22:23

Hi Ladies!! Hellos all around.
So nice to read all your positive bean growing stories. Yes, I still lurk a bit. The MC thing hasn't bothered me a bit just set me back a few months. Already ttc again ...shhhh don't tell anyone . The female body is an amazing creation!!

Just thought I'd bump and see if anyone here who's MCed in the past would be interested in sharing their ttc stats: TTC after MC ?

Big Wave to former cycle buddy JOSIE. Give that belly a rub for me .

sophiewd · 25/11/2007 23:06

ernest - for me it was chocolate, usually never go near the stuff except mybe once a month just before AF due, otherise doesn't do anythong for me but when pregnant with DD it was gimme more, really surprised that I didn't put 4 stone on. As for moving vs staying, you know the health system, you speak the language and you already have a care plan in place, if I was in your shoes I would stay until after baby was born.

debinaustria · 26/11/2007 06:25

Welcome Littlewifey

Welcome back CalebsMum Ernest - are you coming to us? For your ski holiday?

Morning everyone else, I have also felt faint movements with this baby already, dh doesn't quite believe me! Still getting morning sickness and sometimes in the evening too.

Snowing again here today after dh worked so hard this weekend to clear the drive and car park!

TwilightSurfer fingers crossed it happens really quickley for you. It did for me after my first period, we started trying straight away but we missed the crucial time before my first period.

I am feeling bigger this morning, the baby must have had a huge growth spurt last night. I'm looking forward to my scan on wednesday but getting really nervous that things are going to go wrong again.

ernest · 26/11/2007 11:05

sorry deb, look lovely, but I need a Kinderhotel to wait on me hand and foot, to stuff me to the gills with 6 course meals every night. I probably won't be able to use most of the wellness but I'll do my best... I love Serfaus, hope I can persude dh to go back there (to different hoel) but he hates going back to the same place twice, so dunno.

I have decided I'll def. have baby here, by caesarian, so just have to put move off as long as possible....

goingfor3christmaspuddings good luck with the scan

makecakesnotwar · 26/11/2007 11:09

Could I be any more hungry???? Spent the weekend with in-laws and she kept looking at me wierdly every time I ate (every three hours at the mo)...felt so guilty and heifer-like.

Morning all- sorry for the moan...I guess MILs do that to a person. Off to grab some more food....catch you later!

debinaustria · 26/11/2007 11:19

Ernest Don't worry I quite understand, being waited on hand and foot is pretty appealing!!

Going43 Good luck with the scan, I also have one on Wednesday.

Makecakes - I am also hungry, this morning it was cheesy breadstcks dipped in cheese spread!!

Morning everyone.....does anyone know if you can take BEECHAMS day/night nurse??? Have streaming cold and I have checked the ingredients and it only says paracetamol and phenalydrine. I know paracetamol's okay but not sure about the other. I know you're supposed to avoid codeine but wondered if this is okay?? Anyone know???

Good luck with scans this week everyone. Welcome wifey and great to hear from you twilight!

xxx

goingfor3christmaspuddings · 26/11/2007 12:45

GA$ I found this link and I personally wouldn't take it during pregnancy.
www.drugs.com/mtm/Phenyldrine.html

ernest · 26/11/2007 12:51

tbh I'd suffer and not take anything unless limbs were hanging off. I'm really paranoid of any chemical during pg. I just wouldn't risk it. Tho I know how inconvenient it is. I remember when I had ds2, I had such a bad cold, but was convinced, strangely, genuinely believed that the effort of pushing him out would unblock my sinuses at the sme time (??????). Imagine my post natal disappoontment to find I still had a shitty cold. duh. At least in the hospital they were able to give me every cold & flu remedy known to man (that was suitable for breastfeeding ) just when you think you've removed one set of hurdles, another appears...

aberdeenhiker · 26/11/2007 13:27

I should probably post this closer to june, but there's a great resource for drugs while breastfeeding at: toxnet.nlm.nih.gov/cgi-bin/sis/htmlgen?LACT, it's the US National Library of Medicine. I found that my doctors were very leery to prescribe any medication when there are some that are safe. This helps you make an informed choice. (It's easy to check safety of medications with breastfeeding because there's always the pump and dump option!)

As for drugs in pregnancy though I'm currently suffering from a horrible cold too. Uggh!

And now that my morning sickness is completely gone I'm also always starving and I'm missing a glass of red wine with my dinner - morning sickness at least made alchohol unappealing!

Rolf · 26/11/2007 13:27

Hi GA4. Agree with the others - wouldn't take it, sorry. I take paracetamol in pregnancy if I am really, really desperate but that's about it.

I'd take the paracetamol and do a steam inhalation. If you have a sore throat drink hot water with thyme, lemon and honey.

GardenAngel4 · 26/11/2007 13:33

ladies thanks for this. I have made up my mind - suffer on! Links are great - thank you.

debinaustria · 26/11/2007 13:43

GA4 hope you feel better soon, keep your bugs away though I'm allergic to paracetemol so I hope i don't get anything nasty!!

Hello all

Calebs mum, I have evening sickness too it starts at about 3 pm and lasts til i go to bed and sleep it off!
Amd it started late like you upsidedown cake it only started in about week 10

Congrats little wifey Hows school going for you I have 3 weeks left but three busy weeks of concerts reports etc

Any ideas ex and not ex primary teachers of something christmasy to make with toilet rolls as have loads in junk modelling stuff!! can only think of typical F.Xmas or snowman that i do every year!

As for cravings only apple juice so far i wake up in early morning and have to get some. Started taking little cartons to school too!!

Oh well only 28 days to xmas guys hehe!

debinaustria · 26/11/2007 18:33

You could make angels - have you got any of those polystyrene balls for the heads? Pretty wings, lots of glitter, don't know how many in your class but number them 1-24 and use them as an advent calendar with a sweet underneath each one, makes a nice table top display too set against a dark backdrop.

Ooh, smell 'er, as dh says! Very arty.

Let me pick your primary teacher brains, I need (cheap) typically English present for dss teachers. Between them they've got loads, so don't want to spend loads, last year I spent ages making wonderful little traditional decorated Christmas Cakes. Can't be arsed this year. Quick, cheap british. Any ideas? I'd be every so grateful.

debinaustria · 26/11/2007 18:51

OK - typical presents I used to receive - chocolates - quality street, roses etc.. wine, smellies, scented candles etc...
Presents I've given here - homemade mince pies,/fudge/shortbread etc...
But they involve work....will have a think if there's anything easier and let you know

Upsidedowncake · 26/11/2007 19:05

Christmassy with loo rolls - how about crackers? Obviously no snaps, but the whole class could decorate them and then make hats or write crap jokes (depending on the age of your class)

Spoke to Kingston hospital today to ask how there could be no room for me and they could have booked a scan as well. Anyway, it turns out I really do have a place there, and they apologised for the administrative error. What a relief!

ernest · 26/11/2007 19:12

glad you've got into kingston after all. My sil hd her baby there in July

Rolf · 26/11/2007 19:19

Good news Upsidedowncake

A question for teachers: would you be pissed off to get one of those Oxfam Unwrapped presents - like a goat shared between everyone or something like that? Or do teachers really like my crappy home-made efforts alternated wtih whatever is on 3 for 2 at the supermarket?

Another non-pregnancy question (getting a bit bored - my attention span is waning!): Ernest are you a fabulously accomplished linguist - what with your move to Switzerland and prospective more to Italy? Deb how about you?

I'm sniggering over "smell 'er"

goingfor3christmaspuddings · 26/11/2007 19:36

I was also going to ask what teachers like to get as presents and as there are so many of you you are the best people to ask! I don't have any energy to make anything so it will have to be bought.
