Poor you SA. Have you tried steam inhalations with tea tree oil? I am prone to sinusitus and find that very helpful.

Jealous of all the scans lined up. I'm still waiting for mine.

aberdeenhiker · 24/11/2007 13:21

josey - I'm glad you did finally get a scan date and I'm really surprised it took that long. However, if it's in Abdn, you book in for your 20 week scan while you're there so you should get to choose the date (mine's the 18th January - at least you wont have to wait long between scans) so there's not a fuss about letters next time!

Upsidedowncake, love the blog! We have one too at www.spiritofplace.com but my pregnancy is still secret there - my senior managers know about it and we're not telling them about my pregnancy yet, not until next year's business plans are done or our budget might get cut!

goingfor3christmaspuddings · 24/11/2007 13:34

aberdeenhiker I love your DS's frog prince costume, so cute.

Paromapu, Exciting to have had your scan already
Patrick Rose Mack Purrfect puss?

Aberdeen hiker, love your blog, a different style than ours, more of a message from Mummy, which will be such a special thing for your ds to have when he is older. Where did you get your raingear from? Fab stuff.

Katyjo, do you have US connections or is it just a handy coincidence with your sister going away? I am cooking thanksgiving dinner tonight. Had to buy a frozen turkey - boy, those things take a long time to thaw, don't they?

Upsidedowncake · 24/11/2007 16:09

And Josey, great to have your scan date through, and I'll keep my fingers crossed your dh will be around.

Thanks for comments re ds. Thomas is the most successful present ever!

Paromapu · 24/11/2007 17:27

Nearly Upsidedowncake! Paul Rosalind Maise and Puss
Will have to add babys name when its born!

yes here in Gran Canaria they are good with scans etc. I am having private and state ones so its good.

ChinaSurprise · 24/11/2007 20:10

Evening all.
SA so sorry to hear about your ear woes. I was literally weeping from earache a couple of weeks ago. Am sure you'll start to feel better now.
Re anyone with blocked sinuses, face over a bowlful of steaming water with a towel over the head to trap the steam in is good and totally safe, just don't get too hot!
Ernest - sorry to hear about ds2! Have you had it checked out? (of course you have) I had similar probs as a kid for about four years - had my adenoids out and it cleared up almost overnight...just a thought.
It's so cold here I'm wearing a hat and gloves in the living room. And my coy slippers .
Bfn

josey · 24/11/2007 20:13

Thanks guys it was such a weight off my mind to get the letter today. Its very unlikely DH will be home though they are planning sending him back to Norway for another 3 weeks some point next week he will be home just in time for Xmas.

I have been so sick tonight, having a late night is paying me back big time today.

Paromapu wow Grand Canaria very jealous. I had a Summer holidays friend called Rosalind we took on the world every year for 6 weeks and had a blast. I have never met anyone with that name since, you have brought back some lovely memories for me to ponder while im crashed on the sofa feeling grey.

Ok think im gonna try some popcorn and fizzy water

debinaustria · 25/11/2007 09:46

Good morning everyone, It's been a while because I have my friend staying but she's gone skiing with the boys and dh this morning so I have a bit of time in between cooking Sunday dinner.I'm OK, still very tired and still being sick but it's reduced to twice a day now so it's getting better. I have my next appointment with the gynae this week so I will have my next scan then, can't wait.

Ernest - how are you and the boys? Coping without dh in the week? I would stay in Switzerland until after the birth if it was me.

upsidedown - love your blog, has your ds put down Thomas yet?

sa - how's the ear today, sounds so painful you poor thing, I hope you've been taking it easy.

Josey glad you've got your scan date through at last, shame dh will miss it but at least he'll be home for Christmas.

Katyjo Happy thanksgiving

Aberdeenh - love your blog too, we haven't got a blog, just our website www.austrianfamilyholidays.co.uk

Paromapu - I was a Primary teacher in the UK so I remember this run up to Christmas very well!! Good Luck! Glad all your tests went well.

To anyone I've missed have a great Sunday.

Deb

Hello
Its Sunday morning and am eating the only thing i feel like in the mornings lately! Brioche bread with chocolate chips hehe!

Josey- Its a bit chilly here at mo though and we have rain too but ill try and send some sun everybobys way especially chinasurprise!
Ive never met anyone with my name either! I have just started nausea at end of last week and it only hits me the evenings very irritating when dh is tucking into a curry!

debinaustria - yes then youll know what its like i dream of concerts crackers and hats!!!

Well off to do some cleaning It has to be done!
Have a nice day all
x

sophiewd · 25/11/2007 10:11

Morning all

Well glad that's over with, having told last nights guests that no couldn't cater for 9, 9 turned up anyway, 2 had to share a bed and they still paid. Lovely day here, so off for a walk down to the beach with DD, DH, and our other child, the dog!!!!

enjoy your Sunday.

Upsidedowncake · 25/11/2007 13:37

Hello ladies.

I hope everyone has a lovely Sunday. Deb - great website, are they your kids in the pictures?

debinaustria · 25/11/2007 15:13

Sophie are they the guests who were coming to check the rooms out 1st? How was the walk on the beach?

Paromapu - any tips I can give just ask!! I taught for 15 years in the UK.

Upsidedown - yes, most of the pictures are of our 2 boys apart from some on the summer page.

Sunday dinner went down well with the skiiers, now getting ready to take my friend back to the airport.

OP posts:
ernest · 25/11/2007 16:01

chinasurprise, yes, we've been through it all with ds2's ears. He had his adenoids out when he was just 16 months old, as prior to that he was having such frequent infections. It did make a huge, instant difference. But we were warned that as he was so young they may grow back, and I suspect this has happened. Am now keeping record of how many/often he has them. He's fine now, just needs to finish course of antibiotics.

SA Hope the pain has subsided now.

Yes, dh commutes back late on Friday (11ish) then goes about 4pm on Sunday. So the boys of course don't see him till Saturday. Can't remember who asked but yes, 3 boys, aged 4,6 & 8. They're really hoping for a 4th boy

I've definitely felt the baby move a few times now, which is amazing as all other 3 times it was more like 20 weeks. Can't wait for it to be strong enough for the boys to feel.

I'm a secondary school teacher, but was thinking of moving to the primary sector when i returned to UK. Maybe I could pick your brains?

We'll be booking our Austrian ski holiday next weekend. I'm looking forward to all 3 boys going to the ski school this year and me having all day every day to mong in peace.

sophiewd · 25/11/2007 16:05

Debs yes they were but didn't come over just rang at 10.30 that night.

The beach was lovely, had a coffee saw some friends and bought some fresh locally caught fish for supper tomorrow and DD refuse to leave until she had her prawns and fork. Just doing sunday lunch/tea now.

littlewifey · 25/11/2007 17:53

Hi everyone! I have been watching this thread for a while and was hoping I can join the gang :-) Have been holding out to join incase something went wrong (had bit of a tough few weeks so far!!) so was trying to wait until I'd had my scan and knew for certain that things were ok. But have decided I can't wait any longer!! Paromapu, I am also a primary teacher :-)

sophiewd · 25/11/2007 18:05

Welcome littlewifey.
On anther note, any cravings yet? Got Dh to go and get some local chocolate ice cream after I had been dreaming about it but probably not a craving just an excuse

calebsmum · 25/11/2007 18:11

Hello! Not posted for awhile as just didn't have time to get on the internet. Saw our baby on Thursday and he/she was kicking around and had hiccups, DS was fascinated! My DD is now back to the 6th June which is great as my sister gets married in August and I need as much time as possible to find a nice dress to accommodate BF boobies and a saggy stomach.

Anyone else got evening sickness?? I'm fine all day then feel really flat and sicky in the evenings, also suffering with constant snotty nose.

ernest · 25/11/2007 18:21

I've never had any cravings. bit disappointing really. Though I do the opposite - when pg with ds1 I went from drinking 10 cups of coffee a day to not being able to stand it. I still can't drink coffee now, more than 8 years later. when pg with ds2 I went off sloppy veg like courgettes and mushrooms and aubergines etc, but that only lasted the pg.

I ate jam doughnuts by the dozen when pg with ds1, but more greed and availability than cravings.

What about you?

hi little wifey, what's your edd?

Upsidedowncake · 25/11/2007 18:22

Evening sickness, absolutely. It comes on at abo0ut 4pm - and like last time, it started at about 8 1/2 weeks / 9 weeks, which is quite late, I believe. DS was then very late when he was born.

Was anyone else late with starting nausea and have their babies late? Or is it just a coincidence.

And how about morning sickness as opposed to evening sickness?

It seems to come on when I'm tired and when I haven't eaten enough carbs. hee hee pass the biscuit tin ...

Upsidedowncake · 25/11/2007 18:24

And Ernest, totaly with you on being off mushrooms, courgettes and aubergines. But I would have thought they would be very good for you, so don't understand it.

I'm also completely off booze, which makes not drinking SOOOOOOOOOO much easier

littlewifey · 25/11/2007 18:57

I felt sick for the first few weeks in the evenings, but was fine in the mornings. Used to really like McDonalds before PG but can't face it at all now (prob a good thing)!! My EDD is 10th June. But will find out for def at my scan in 2 weeks time

katyjo · 25/11/2007 19:06

No American connections I'm afraid, just fitted in nicely. My older sister lived in Canada for a while bu that's it.

Tnanks for the happy thanksgiving wishes, we had a lovely time even though it wasn't a traditional thanksgiving, ds was playing with his cousins and we had fireworks and ate too much food, I certainly feel very lucky at the moment!

I've started getting a bit of evening sickness too, and I have been absolutely knackered the last few days, but getting a really pronouced bump, so maybe little bean is going through a growth spurt!
Been feeling baby move too ernest, kept thinking I was imagining it as I didn't feel anyhting until 20 weeks with ds, but that was a good kick this is like fluttering tummy, don't think its gas!
