CS - I hope you aren't too aching this morning after playing on the Wii. I was so achy athe morning after we first bought it, probably because I was so determined to beat DP!

ktpie · 23/11/2007 08:47

Morning everyone, thanks for the welcoming messages, it is great to know there are loads of people going through the same thing as me.
I've added myself to the list now and it makes it all seem that little bit more real!

Reading recipes at this time in the morning is making me hungry already (and I've already had my breakfast) think I might go and find something to nibble on, is anyone else eating pretty much constantly?

katyjo · 23/11/2007 09:09

Thanks upsidedowncake, yes its in the scottish executive thingy that all women should have 2 scans, one between 10-14 weeks and one at around 20 weeks, they just choose to ignore it!! Good luck with sorting out your hospital, if you need me to send any hormonal letters, or phonecalls let me know I'm sure they'll get fed up of pregnant women giving them grief!

I'm feeling much better today, so hoping that's the end of the sickness/tiredness, hope everyone else is well today.

ChinaSurprise · 23/11/2007 09:20

Morning all. Feeling a bit better today but can't wait to leave this job (next Friday and counting). So sick of this place.
ANYWAY, g43 I wasn't too achy this morning and I creamed DH at bowling! Had a go on the boxing too, which is great, as I used to do boxing workouts before I got pg, so was fun to let off some steam, and much easier than the real thing!
Good luck to all battling to get the required scans. In the past I've found that quoting NHS guidelines and any legislation (eg that Scottish Executive ruling) does help make people take you seriously.
Reading aberdeen's comments re ending up in the same hosp as josey got me wondering the same thing - are any of you guys in the Bristol area?
Have a good day - nine hours to the weekend and counting...
CS

Hello everyone

Good luck to everyone sorting out scans.

I just spoke to Chelsea and Westminster and they said
(1) they'd definitely take me
(2) the scan will be in time
(3) I'll hear from them next week

so I'm feeling a million times better. And a friend pointed out that having Chelsea on your birth certificate has got to be a good thing, darling! So fingers crossed that the care is OK and because it's a bit further away, I get there in time!!!

Having a birthday party for ds1 today. Blowing up balloons and cutting up vegetables. Whoopee!

josey · 23/11/2007 14:29

Afternoon ladies

China love the slipper socks they look lovely and coy

Aberdeenhiker, Im in Oldmeldrum, I was offered to choose between ARI or Huntly for Scan but Huntly is taking months to scan people and if I was scanned there if I have a hosptial birth I would have to go to Elgin
We may very well be in at the same time that would be cool.

LOONEYplayingachristmasTUNEy · 23/11/2007 15:06

Sorry for not being on recently (again!), been really hectic with the kiddies, overnighter etc. plus I've got a horrible cold and feeling really rough.

Anyway, just updated EDD as the scan today put me 2 days later. I'm soooooo glad I went today, wow, 3 days exactly later and it went from a bean to a proper little baby - amazing!!! Little bubba waved at me too (well, moved it's hand and arm lol).

Off out straight after work tonight as dh got a gig for charity. Will try and catch up over the weekend.

Hope everyone is good

ernest · 23/11/2007 15:37

where are you upsidedowncake?

Well, my ds loves to say that he's royal donchaknow, cos he was born in the royal borough of kensington and chelsea, lol. I was more then happy with my antenatal care there. Just hang onto you stuff. I even had my camera nicked from beside my bed, thus losing all my newborn picts of ,y pfb - and I'd had an emergency section, so it wasn't like I was wandering around. Oh, and my shoes too. I had to go home bare foot, as after 2 days I couldn't stand it any more and left. barefoot ffs. mind you, you've already done it once, so you're in a better position to put your foot down. I was in shock and totally naive.

I did have a funny midwife, who on doing an internal examination when I was about 7 cms looked worried and headed straight for the door, we, alarmed asked if everything was ok & she explained, um, I think I feel testicles... as she disappeared And thus I learned that ds1 was in fact, a ds.

My God I'm so tired today. I felt ok this am then after lunch came over so tired I went for a lie down and fell asleep for over 2 hours, now I'm up again, but honestly haven't got the energy even to lift my arms as I type.

goingfor3christmaspuddings · 23/11/2007 18:24

ernest I can't believe someone would steal a pair of shoes from a hospital, really annoying about your camera too!

I feel exhausted as I have just been non-stop and tommorow we have a wedding to go to so no cahance of resting!

Upsidedowncake · 23/11/2007 19:38

How exciting Looney. I love the idea of him / her waving to you.

Ernest, your shoes and camera got nicked. omg. And I thought K&C was such as nice place.

We're in Wandsworth, Southfields, so horrible road journey, but not bad by tube.

My husband does a blog to keep all his American family up to date, and has updated it today with C's birthday. Here we are blowing out candles. Can't believe he's two!

or that all of us are doing this again!

ernest · 23/11/2007 20:09

Upsidedowncake - I know Saafields - I used to live in Battersea on Lavender Hill and worked in Tooting. Is St Georges really so bad? it was a bloody buiöding site when I was expecting ds1, but even they must've finished by now?

Upsidedowncake · 23/11/2007 20:15

It was fabby for my ectopic; so good and I didn't have to have my tube out; a friend who is an obstetrician (who's worked in george's and C&W) says the epu is world class.

But by the same token, she also doesn't advise the maternity unit, and she's going to C&W herself!

What are you doing in Switzerland, Ernest? I love the international flavour of this group.

systemsaddict · 23/11/2007 20:25

Urg, have been feeling really grotty all week, thought it was morning sickness and exhaustion coming back full force and felt it very unfair - then today a sudden crisis with an ear infection, four hours of agony has left me deaf with a bleeding ear and on antibiotics! So it must have been that brewing that knocked me out - but I'm glad it wasn't 'just' the pregnancy as I was starting to really worry about how I was going to cope. At least now the eardrum's perforated the pain has eased off to normal levels, it was off the scale before. Am going to bed now to feel sorry for myself!

Upsidedowncake · 23/11/2007 20:32

Systemsaddict. Oh my goodness. A perforated ear drum! No wonder you'd been feeling lousy.Do you have a fever?

I'm glad that they got you antibiotics, but what a nightmare.

systemsaddict · 23/11/2007 20:36

No fever, weirdly. I would have worked out sooner that something else was wrong if I had had one. But heigh ho, nothing that could have been done about it if I had. Just hoping this won't happen again - one of my pregnancy symptoms is v. blocked nose and obviously that's all interlinked, and probly why I ended up with this - used to get them constantly as a child but have only had one in adulthood before now. Anyway really am off to bed now! see you all tomorrow, hope everyone else OK.

ernest · 23/11/2007 21:05

sa sorry to hear that, sounds just like my poor ds2. He's had so may perforated ear drums - we even spent last Christmas morning in a&e with one as I knew, as he's had so many, that it = anti biotics. He's on them now for just that. I know we've been advised to give him decongestants to help avoid the build up which inevitably leads to ear infection once he's all blocked up. Can you find out from pharmacist whether there are any you can take when you're pg?

Upsidedowncake, dh worked for a swiss bank, so we moved here 7 years ago. He's jus changed jobs and now works for an Italian bank, and he now lives in Milan. Still not sure which is worse, moving when pg to a country where I don't speak the lingo, or staying where I love as long as possible but the nightmare of emigration with a 6 week old baby. Yikes. rock and hard place,

systemsaddict · 24/11/2007 09:28

Your poor, poor ds2 ernest, he has all my sympathies. I used to infallibly time them for major events, like Christmas. At my First Communion I was in tears, my mother thought it was the emotion of the occasion, nope, ear again! I don't think there are any decongestants you can safely take while pregnant but will investigate more if it happens again. Oh and the anti-bs the dr. has prescribed have nausea as a common side effect, he was a bit apologetic about this when I said I'd been feeling sick for weeks anyway but I'm limited to what I can take (penicillin allergy) and with my history he wanted me to take something. Can't remember what it was like to feel well!!!

FWIW ernest I can completely see the rationale for staying put till after you've had the baby and are sure all is well - it must be tough to be away from dh but at least you understand and trust the health care system where you are. But I'm sure either way you'll manage - at least you've done it before!

Upsidedowncake · 24/11/2007 09:28

Morning everyone. How are people feeling today?

Difficult choices, Ernest. Are you other dss (am I right in thinking two, sorry if I have this wrong) at school in Switzerland? How old are they?

Does that mean you and dh are weekend commuting now? That must be tough when you are pg.

goingfor3christmaspuddings · 24/11/2007 09:31

systemsaddict I hope your ear is better today.

I'm sorting out clothes to take to the laundrette and hoping they do service washes. The kids have spilt nailvarnish on the kitchen floor, we have to pick up DD2's bike today, and we have a wedding to go to t 3 this afternoon. I'm feeling a bit stressed!!!

Upsidedowncake · 24/11/2007 10:05

Systems addict, how is your ear feeling today? And are you feeling sick?

I had sinusitis a couple of weeks ago and there was nothing that the doctor or chemist could give me except for paracetamol so I don't think there are any decongestants you can take. Fingers crossed that you don't get ill again.

So the post has just arrived this morning and I have just had another letter from Kingston hospital (they who sent me a letter on Wednesday saying they were too busy to take me) with a scan date for Thursday 13 December.

Which is great. But confusing.

josey · 24/11/2007 10:56

SA hope you are feeling better how awful for you take care.

Upsidedowncake your little boy is so cute what a lovely little blondie, hope he enjoyed Thomas

Well we went out for a lovely meal with our neighbours last night and on for them to have a couple of drinks, I had a fab time though the only thing is why was it I was the one who woke up feeling rough lol!

Got my scan date through today, and im gutted 6th December I will be nearly 14 weeks and there is only about a 2% chance my DH will be at home for it now. Im just hoping as bub will be bigger so will get a better scan pic.

katyjo · 24/11/2007 12:41

You poor thing sa! No decongestants for pregnancy I'm afraid, I've been using sterimar it's just salt water in a spray can but it's great you can irrigate your nose feels a bit weird but feel much better afterwards. You can get it at boots.

Josey so glad you got your scan date through, lets keep fingers crossed your dh wil be there.
I was looking at another thread and apparently sometimes you canb tell the sex from as early as 14 weeks, so maybe you could have a wee guess, don't reckon it's that accurate though. I had a scan at 26 weeks with ds and I couldn't tell then although I didn't want to know anyway!

Hope everyone has a great weekend, I've got thanksgiving tomorrow, my sister is leaving to go to south Africa for a year on friday, so we are having a early christmas but it coincided with thanksgiving so we are doing that instead just for fun.
