Debs really looking forward to Tuesday though DH is always a pain on his first couple of days home so he end up annoying me until he settles down again.
Also can you try toast instead of cereal with DS the milk used to curdle my stomach first thing but I ate cereal before bed. Though hopefully it will start passing soon.

Ernest lol what did you do when you had to get your 1st bra?
You would hate to have my mother she phoned me the day before I went into labour and said your gran has just told me to tell you to go to bed and have lots of sex we are fed up waiting this was before my due date! Mum was also at the birth and had to help pull of my knickers when my waters broke

Pamika glad your parents were really please, my mum also guessed said i had that look.

debinaustria · 19/11/2007 06:18

Morning - too late Josey - already had my weetabix!! so far only sick as I got out of bed but feeling rough.

ernest · 19/11/2007 07:22

blimey josey, no no no. I'm sure my entire family believe babies are conceived because the parents would like a baby. Sex?????? I think if my mum said that word to me, I'd be the one bringing up my weetabix (sorry debs). As for 1st bra, iirr, I sorted myself out. every step of the way. She's not the easiest person to talk to, my mum. Unless it's about the traffic cojestion round the junction of the A356 with the b2072. Now that gets her going I can tell you.

And living in Dorset, she now has plenty to talk about, especially in the summer months. Bloddy caravans etc etc etc.

goingfor3 · 19/11/2007 08:32

Morning ladies,

I'm feeling really rought this morning. I have a really nasty cold which made me throw up last night and my body doesn't let go of food very easily. I have to say I'm really worried it going to develop into something worse, I had flu in Feb which meant I was bed bound for a week and couldn't eat and then went through the same when I had measles in July. I really can't cope with being that ill again especially as I mc'd when I had measles so will panic the whole time.

debinaustria · 19/11/2007 08:38

G43 - sorry to hear you're not feeling well, hopefully it will just be a cold, look after yourself today and rest if you can.

The weetabix didn't stay down!!!! I had toast after and that did!!

systemsaddict · 19/11/2007 11:00

Sorry to hear you're ill and worried G43, we all have nasty colds here too and I feel much worse than I usually would with a cold, being pregnant just makes everything feel so much worse. Hot lemon and honey is getting me through as I look longingly at cold remedies I'm not allowed! Take care of yourself and get as much rest as you can and hopefully it'll be gone soon.

sophiewd · 19/11/2007 11:10

Get well soon G43,

Tis a miserable day here, the fires are lit, DD watching Big Cook Little Cook, will sort out some videos later as want to turn a little kitchenette thing into toy storage.

Ernest we are just outside Lulworth Cove, about 20 mins away from Corfe Mullen, knowing where she lives then traffic is the hot topic in summer months, for us its tractors or tanks.

LOONEYplayingachristmasTUNEy · 19/11/2007 12:08

Hi everyone

Sorry to jump in again without responding to each one of youo (although I noticed G43 - hope you are ok hunny, rest lots!!)

ADVICE PLEASE.......just phoned to make appointment for my scan and they could see me any day this week so we booked Friday. I'm now wondering if I just book for later. This scan will be day before I'm 10 weeks (according to last scan at 6+5). Should I wait until I'm 12 weeks if possible? Or am I being paranoid?

WWYD?

Thanks

josey · 19/11/2007 12:11

Debs hope the toast stays down

G43 hope you feel better soon, lots of hotwater honey and lemon and steamed faces if you can, take care thinking of you x

Ernest lol I had better not tell you about the tampax in the sink story then to show me how they expand lol My Mum on the other had takes things tooooo far!

Im still feeling rough today thankfully not being sick but have the I am sailing feeling, hot clamy head and hands gagging sensation and no strengh to stand.

Ok off to feel the pain and do some housework before tomorrow or my house proud husband tuts in disgust

ChinaSurprise · 19/11/2007 12:12

Sorry everyone's having such a rotten time this morning. G43 - my GP says standard paracetomol is fine during pg - if it's a heavy cold it should take the edge off your symptoms and allow you to be a bit more active. And don't forget, if you've had measles once you can't get it again so please try not to fret (easier to say than do, I know)

On another topic, have any of you told your employers yet? I start my new job in a fortnight and think I'm probably going to wait to the new year to tell them so that they have a chance to get to know me a bit first, and so that I can prove that I can do the job! I don't think they're going to be too impressed, but I'll be 17 weeks by the time I go back to work after the Xmas break so I don't think I'll be able to hide it much longer than that.
Any thoughts?
China

josey · 19/11/2007 12:14

Looney why dont you call them back and ask if they think you are better to wait Im sure they wont mind, I think between 10 and 12 is the norm

LOONEYplayingachristmasTUNEy · 19/11/2007 12:17

Well they asked how far gone I was and I think the norm there is 8-12 weeks as really, it's just for dating. They are closed now, only open from 10.30-12 which makes it SOOOO hard to call as always at group and straight on nursery run, get home at 12 so hard to call. Will try tomorrow maybe - you reckon it's best to wait then?

ChinaSurprise · 19/11/2007 12:21

Looney - thanks for that HB link you posted recently - the pool looks brilliant. Now I've just got to persuade my MW that I should have a HB!

Re your scan, I know logically it makes more sense to wait til 12 weeks, but if it will help put your mind at rest I would have it now. I had an EPU scan at 8+2 due to spotting, and then another one last Monday at 10+1. On the first scan I really couldn't make much out but on the second one we could see the bean wriggling around and it was possible to tell what was what - it was very reassuring (have a look at the scan on my profile if you like).
I guess the only downside is that you will then have a slightly longer wait until the next scan.

Debs - have you tried eating rice? It's v good for sickness cos it's easy to digest. Any kind of wheat/ dairy combo by comparison, puts quite a lot of strain on your tummy, which makes it harder to keep down.

LOONEYplayingachristmasTUNEy · 19/11/2007 12:21

I'm torn....part of me wants reassurance due to not feeling pregnant etc. The other part wonders if I should just wait that bit longer

LOONEYplayingachristmasTUNEy · 19/11/2007 12:23

China thanks, I'll have a look now. I think the next scan is 20 weeks so quite a wait anyway, don't think extra 2 weeks will bother me. It's just that thing everyone thinks - 12 weeks is the safe bit! But if that's not really the case, I must say I'd love to get reassurance this Friday.

goingfor3 · 19/11/2007 12:45

LOONEYplayingachristmasTUNEy it doesn't really make a difference whether you have it now or at 12 weeks dating wise but at 12 weeks you will be able to see more and you will have the reassurence that you have defintaley got to the 12 week mark, this is said by miss impatient who wouldn't be able to ewait until 12 weeks!

Thanks for all your well wishes, I'm feeling better now I think I was just feeling very sorry for myself with morning but now that I've been up and about I realise I don't feel that bad. Anyway DD1 is a tree in her christmas play so I beetter get on with making her costume.

josey · 19/11/2007 12:53

G43 glad your feeling better now you are up and about.

Looney keep your appointment, you will just stress if you cancel, and you should still be far enough to get a lovely scan pic.

GardenAngel4 · 19/11/2007 12:53

Morning everyone, just catching up. Sorry to hear people are still feeling grim. I can't shake the nausea but am not being sick at least.

looney if it was me, and this is just me, if they offered me a scan this week, I wouldn't be able to say no. I guess the earlier you have it the longer you have to wait for the 20 week one...

Well the NHS have exceeded my expectations and my '3week letter' arrived on Friday (3days after booking in) and my 12 week scan is Fri 14th December.

v. envious everyone looking so pregnant - I don't look one bit different at 9 weeks. Mind you I was tiny all the way through (as everyone kept telling me...) and kept it from my customers for nearly 24 weeks!
deb how's the snow!
china good luck with that conversation!! Tough one.

xx

GardenAngel4 · 19/11/2007 12:55

looney re the scan again. I had one at 8 weeks last time and it has always been my favourite scan because it was just so amazing to see something so tiny with a heartbeat.

josey · 19/11/2007 12:55

oops sorry China im afraid I would tell my employer as soon as I think they would appreciate you being more up front with them, plus you maybe needing time for appointments etc which you are aloud the time for without diggin into you hols etc. When expecting DD I told my employer when my scan date came though, its also reassuring for health and safey.

debinaustria · 19/11/2007 13:08

Looney - I think I'd be too impatient to say no to the scan!

CA4 - still got lots but it's a warm day here so it's dripping off the roof.

I know what you mean Josey - I'm just concerned that if I tell them immediately I'll be judged on being pg before they've got a chance to know me properly. If I tell my boss on day one I can just see everything getting off on the wrong foot.
If I wait till after Christmas it'll only be a month since I started and I'll only be working for about 11 days before the Xmas break and appointments/ scans shouldn't be an issue before late January. My booking in is a couple of days before I start and I've already arranged it as holiday from the job I'm leaving so it's not going to be noticed.
I just think that if I can impress them all with my efficiency/ hard work etc before I tell them then hopefully I won't be judged quite so harshly...
Anyone else got a view on this?

Looney, re the 12 week "safe" date, I did some research on this after spotting a couple of times and one night of bleeding as I was freaking out. The 12 weeks definition is not exactly what it seems - chances of MC decrease gradually each week after 8 weeks, and are even lower if a heartbeat has been confirmed so if I were you I wouldn't wait - just get that reassurance as soon as you can. Have a look here for some clearer statistics. As for not "feeling pregnant", I've had a couple of friends who were like this in their early pg. I know you're already a mum so if you know all the above, sorry for repeating!
China

katyjo · 19/11/2007 17:40

Thanks for the wishes of good luck, but I think I was having a baby brain moment, my scan is on wednesday, don't know why I typed monday, maybe wishful thinking!!

Looney - go for the scan! You will wish you had if you cancel it, mind you I am sure you'll want another one once you've had it but you won't have too long to wait til 20 week scan then anyway.

I bought one of those heartbeat thingies from mothercare when pregnant with ds, I'm sure it's just my own heartbeat I'm hearing but gives me reassurance anyway, although might make you paranoid if you can only hear your belly gurgling!!

China, I would tell your employers, I had the same sort of situation when pregnant with ds and it felt so much better once I had told them, they were really supportive and even made sure I had a great job to come back to when I was ready even though they didn;t have to. It takes the stress off once they know.

Gardenangel, very jealous of you not looking pregnant, my dh keeps asking how his twins are, thinks its funny, wouoldn't mind if it was but I was pretty big with ds too! We're never happy are we!!

Hope everyone else is well!

12 weeks today - hurray!

Hope every

debinaustria · 20/11/2007 06:20

Good morning everyone, Josey - I bet we don't see you on here today! Did you get enough housework done?

Katy good luck for tomorrow

China I think I'd be inclined to wait a while before you tell them. There are some people wo don't find out they're pregnant until a few months anyway - you're obviously not showing are you? I wouldn't be able to get away with it - I look about 20 weeks!!

Update on the ms - tried toast this morning so now I'll have to wait and see.

Do the rest of you still get really tired? I'm not needing the afternoon nap every day now but by bedtime I'm sooo tired.

Have a good day everyone

I am bloody knackered but then I was up to midnight doing some translation work that's due by Wednesday, interspersed with poor ds2 screaming in agony with ear pain, so I guess I'm off to the doctors today.
