makecakesnotwar · 09/11/2007 10:27

Hey- old people-we're all pregnant, are we not all entitled to big comfy chairs!!!

I'm 30, but will be 31 at the end of the month...and indeed in June. A very good age, or so I have been told!

I'm 11+1 today....edging nearer to the magic 12 (although just to be on the safe side, am waiting until 13 weeks to, you know, breathe!) Feeling the ickiest I've felt thus far- spent most of the early morning sleeping on the bathroom floor to save time and effort! But not much longer, right?????

looneytune · 09/11/2007 10:31

Hi all

I should be counting myself lucky to not be throwing up and feeling really yuck shouldn't I - but I worry when I see that most people on here have been really yuck, I just hope all is well in there! I am very tired and hungry and do feel queezy at times, I just keep reminding myself I was never sick with ds - but I was a lot more queezy than this in the evenings! Oh well, I'd only moan if I was throwing up!!

Baby mindee is napping so I'm going to quickly clear the breakfast things and have a lie down myself - it's rare I get to do that in this job as don't even get a lunch break, at least Thurs & Fri's I have double pay baby and ds at school so when baby is napping, it's ME time

josey · 09/11/2007 10:38

Morning ladies very disapointed I missed the truck load of lovely men O well!

I could not get to sleep last night witht he weather and was just lying in bed letting my mind run away with stupid thoughts, decided that the hard lump I could feel in my tum has vanished and I can no longer be pg anyway I did get to sleep to wake up to a car covered in snow that was all i needed to deal with for the school run.

My new worry is I havent heard from DH he phoned last night in the middle of a storm,(he is on a rig off Norway) and things were falling off shelfs and hitting him on the head etc, anyway I always have an email by 8.30 and a phone call by 10am. They had 90mile hour winds and 30/40ft seas Im worried.

Sybil try and enjoy not feeling sick etc Im my experience its usually the lull before the storm and new ugly symptoms are on the way.

Dylansmum a happy preg lady that is unheard of good for you

TwilightSurfer · 09/11/2007 10:43

No homebirth for me. Although I do think it would be easier with having DD in familar place during scary labour. I'm too much of a worrier so I'd constantly be evaluating the situation. I don't want to have to think. Give me a room with a bed, some time alone with my epidural, then get ready to catch!! If something goes wrong, let there be a single hallway between me and the nearest solution.

General Question: Who cared for your children while you were birthing last times around?

So there's more talk about the movers than the awesome chairs .

10 weeks for me too this weekend. My symptoms were quite mild (excluding my "issue"). However now I've noticed a new symptom....c o n s t i p a t i o n.

TwilightSurfer · 09/11/2007 10:45

Josey {{hugs}} DH I'm sure is fine just delayed at the moment. He's probably worried that your worried.

systemsaddict · 09/11/2007 11:00

Hi Sybil, now I have dates it's clear my symptoms eased off a lot when I was 9 weeks - I'm glad I didn't know exactly when I was at the time as I would have been more worried, but all is fine. I think symptoms easing at around 12 weeks is just an average, so there will be lots of people who come before that average. Try not to worry - easier said than done I know!

Josey, will keep fingers crossed all is well with your dh, probably just comms down with the wind, let us know when you hear from him, those rigs are built to withstand an awful lot.

josey · 09/11/2007 11:07

Ok panic over Thanks

I know that the rigs are usually safe enough but they had been starting to evacuate the ones round about him as it was so bad and haddnt got to them yet. Im used to him having bad weather as in old job was off Shetland but when he was saying he had never had it so bad I freaked. Silly me.

Meant to say I told my MW that I haddnt been sick this time just felt a bit ugg from time to time and she said that sometimes if your body remembers from pervious preg and the hormons dont effect it that much - If I would just stop looking green I might feel even better.

ChinaSurprise · 09/11/2007 12:55

Hi all

Blimey Josey - good to hear your DH ok.

Re symptoms easing - mine have definitely changed in the last few days and will be 10 weeks this w/e. Sickness now only in the mid afternoons/ evenings and not getting hungry in the night the last few days iykwim. Spots also settling down slightly, but I had read something about ENT problems in pg women and, as I had them a lot as a child I'm not that surprised to see them return.

Earache thankfully almost gone now although I managed to severely pull a muscle in my back from lounging around in bed all yesterday - haha. It was so bad I thought I'd broken a rib but GP says no.

She did say it was okay to take paracetomol tho so if anyone else is suffering backache it has really helped with mine this morning.

Some good news today - my menopausal friend on IVF has had a seven week scan and baby with heartbeat has been confirmed. Yay!

Now, where's my comfy chair?

sophiewd · 09/11/2007 13:45

Heel all, and bring on those comfy chairs. Have been suffering with the D&V bug since Monday and have lost all weight put on and a bit more, have phoned doctors and they say that everything should be fine. D has been suffering as well so DH beenvery good around house, cooking etc, not that either pf us can eat. Glad to here everyone is OK and all prise for the homebirthers. My MW very pro home birth but as had C Section last time will be in hospital this time. TS, my parents and sister already primed for looking after DD.

emotionalwreck · 09/11/2007 15:21

Hi all

Not been on in an age but glad to read that so many of you are experiencing less pg symptoms now. I was 10 weeks yesterday and for the last week I've been feeling less sick and a bit more energetic - I've even managed to cook a few meals from scratch instead of relying on ready meals!

As for boobs, mine are getting a lot of attention (visual I might add) from my DP, but like so many of you, I haven't been interested in any "hows your father" for about 6 weeks! Unless I'm dreaming - had some really good sessions on that level!

And all this talk of well endowed delivery men will no doubt spawn another dream blockbuster tonight.............

Just out of interest, has anyone put much weight on yet? First pregnancy I'd put about half a stone on by now, but this time, not a pound!

Rolf · 09/11/2007 16:33

I don't have much in the way of pregnancy symptoms today and I was just thinking about worrying when TS's post reminded me that I am still constipated . Thank you for reassuring me, TS!

Definitely put on weight but no idea how much. Huge sore boobs probably account for at least another half-stone.

My in-laws came over when we had DS2 and DD. They live overseas so it requires a lot of pre-planning but they are great and I trust them totally with the children. They are a doctor/nurse combo which I find extra reassuring. I hope we can persuade them to come this time as well.

I seem to have told lots and lots of people. They are all people I would probably want to tell if things went wrong, so it seemed only fair to let them be happy with me too. It'll be horrid if I do miscarry and have to tell them all.

I don't know if a homebirth is an option for me as I have Group B Strep and I tend to get anaemic in late pregnancy. I'll talk to the midwife about it at some point as otherwise I tend to have quite straightforward, quick labours. There is a homeopath near us who is doing some work wiht pregnant women in association wiht some independant midwives. They offer a birth package at an apparently gorgeous birthing centre. It sounds lovely but not sure if it's for me. I don't know if I'm brave enough to forego all the NHS has to offer.

debinaustria · 09/11/2007 22:01

Evening everyone

So far so good, only sick once today and my appetite's coming back!!

Sophie - hope you feel better soon

My sore boobs are also getting a lot of attention

TS - Mil(retired) is booked to come and stay again to look after the boys, I think a couple of weeks before hand to a couple of weeks after, then my Mum(still working) will come for a few days too.

China - glad the earache's better and great news about your friend - have you told her your news yet?

Josey - so pleased your dh is OK, are you in Scotland? Just wondered with your weather reports!! It's snowing here too, forecast lots over the weekend. Wonder if I'll fit in my salopettes to go sledging?

Night everyone, have a great weekend

Deb

ChinaSurprise · 09/11/2007 22:11

Hi Deb - not told my pal yet - tomorrow probably.
As for sore boobs, DH keeps trying to nuzzle them and have to keep reminding that they bloody hurt - haha.
Re weight, annoyingly I'd put on about 5lbs before I got pg just by being a bit lazier than normal and have probably put on a couple more since. Definitely got the very start of my bump now - a teeny curve that DH spotted this morning. Wooo!

Dh just keeps looking longingly!!!

Rolf · 10/11/2007 00:19

so sorry Pepperpots.

TwilightSurfer · 10/11/2007 03:58

It?s only been a few short hours since my last post but in the interim I miscarried. It was actually very quick. I had intense pain and had started passing large clots in the minutes leading up to the event. After it happened my body relaxed completely. A calm came over me that I hadn?t felt in many weeks. I had my OB/GYN on the phone no less than 5 minutes later. We discussed in great detail what had happened. She said I handled things very well and unless I felt otherwise inclined I could wait until Monday morning for a complete exam. She said under the circumstances rest was the best medicine she could prescribe. So rest it shall be. Although my journey was short it was not without purpose.

As I?ve written in the past, this is an amazing group. Best wishes to you all.
