madmouse · 14/11/2007 10:11

Wow, like an explosion here, the posts keep coming!

Angechica honey you are running 150 miles ahead of yourself, worrying about your next pregnancy or having an only child! But hey, it's not a button you can switch off is it? One day at a time is the only way. Focus on getting through the day and make sure to do something nice for yourself every day. And I would hazard a guess that your DP does not feel the way you feel he does if that makes sense. Once you are on a worrying streak it just runs away with you and before you know it vague worries become certainties in your mind.

For those having growth scans, they are terribly unreliable and can easily be 2lb out. Scans are not a reliable way of measing size after 24 weeks. One of my mates was sent for one by the mw because her bump was too small, the scan showed the baby was actually bigger than average and he came out 7.7lb, bang on average.

Neuro · 14/11/2007 10:16

Lulu - yes. My tummy rumbles and the sound comes from just underneath my breasts. Weird.

MrsBiscuit · 14/11/2007 10:16

Morning all,
Thanks for all the replies re. arnica. Basically the NCT teacher said it was the most important item to have in your maternity bag, which I thought was a bit of overkill, but I think I'll be popping some in anyway.

Hugs to Angechica. I don't have any more advice but would reiterate what the others have been saying about talking to DH and having a full discussion about both your feelings. The future is daunting and can be overwhelming when you try to imagine what's going to happen, so just take everyday as it comes. Another big hug.

T&T - hope the pain's subsiding a bit.

MM - I confess to being a Turkish Delight lover too , though not fussy whether it's authentic or not.

mixedmama · 14/11/2007 10:19

Lulu / Barristermum - 29 Nov, how is Wod Green for you, as Gingeme has recommended a Chinese round there... is this doable? If not, any other Chinese suggestions welcome.

MamaMaiasaura · 14/11/2007 10:29

morning all.

Agree about Eastenders last night. Had real problams sleeping after that (watched the 10pm repeat). Cant believe that was aired at 7.30pm, if my ds had seen that he would have been really upset.

T&T's - agree that you need to get yourself to midwife just for a quick reassuring check. Hope the lo's are feeling better and that you manage to get some sleep. Happy birthday for Sunday, hope you were thoroughly spoilt. About the pains, i have had tender spots where pudding is stretching but not too bad, another reason for you to get checked by midwife.

again about meet up. Hipe you all have fab time tho. There other week you were all posting your facebook details, is there any chance of a repeat so i can add you. For very complicated reasons I cant actually post my name here, long story to do with an ex.

Lulubump - know what you mean about being all squished, breathing is become harder! So is cramming in all the food i want! not going to give up tho.

Neuro - Is good that bumps dad is getting in on the act It is so exciting when everyone is wanting to be involved and get stuff for baby. We had to compile a baby list to be emailed to family for same reason.

Angechica - Sending you huge hugs ((hugs)) I had pnd with ds1 so do understand some of the hopelessness you are feeling. It will improve and it isnt inevitable that you will develop PND after the baby is born. This is a temporary thing, it wont be permanent, there is a light at the end, just hard to see when you are feeling crappy. As you said it affect 1 in 10 so it isnt your fault it is just the crappy luck of the draw. I understand when you say about the insecurities over whetehr your dp wants baby because of how you are feeling. Take all the support you can and try and make sure you are kind to yourself. Make sure that you take regular time to do something nice for yourself each day, be it a relaxing bath, listening to some nice music, a girlie movie etc. xxx

Toomanyshoes - Sorry to make you jealous with my piggy ways xx Very and about what the nurse said to you. Good for you for sticking to your guns. She sounded like a bully. Also for your car, not what you need just before xmas and baby.

mixedmamma - I like turkish delight

MrsMcJnr - I lol with the initials ARS poor girl.

Gingeme Sorry that your lo still poorly, you guys havent had much luck lately xx

Well I need to call estate agents to come get this house on market, have also sold my car to my friend so need to sort that too, do some internet shopping, write the rest of xmas cards (all signed bump even if he arrives early) and get the ironing done. Ds1 not home till 6.30 as he is going to a friends after school. So silly, but i really miss him.

gingeme · 14/11/2007 10:29

Good morning ladies. Slept much better last night as ds4 slept better too
Rumbles under your breasts are in fact air bubbles. Yes realy weird arent they?
Hugs to Angechica.
T&T hope your pains subside through the day. Had it have been the right hand side you may have had to have your appendix checked out.
Have any desicions been made about a meet up yet?
Did you want directions to the chinese in Wood Green or has someone suggested somewhere else? Dont mind which. Thats one of the advantages of dh working on the underground I get a free Oyster
Awen loving your other thread on naughty food. Keep it up.
Have a good day all xx

Amani · 14/11/2007 10:33

Can I have a moan, before I burst in tears:

Having bad morning, had a meeting with mat cover and senior member of staff and the senior member of staff started critising some of the things I do (without knowing excatly what I do) and trying to off load much more work to maternity cover. Made me feel really small. Feel a bit shi!tty want to go home ...

OP posts:
mixedmama · 14/11/2007 10:36

Gingeme - chinese would be for 29th and just waiting for Lulu and Barristermum to confirm if they are able to get to Wood Green... 19th med food in Islington as most the ladies couldnt get to Wood Green.

MrsBiscuit - Turkish Delight has to be real!! Altho i like the choc covered jelly stuff

mixedmama · 14/11/2007 10:38

Awen - I will post my name up now. I have most of the ladies added so will send you a mail on Facebook once we are friends so you can add them.

mixedmama · 14/11/2007 10:40

Awen - it is up let me know when you have it so I can take it off again.

mixedmama · 14/11/2007 10:42

Amani - sorry about your meeting. People can really pick their times cant they. How long left till ML?

madmouse · 14/11/2007 10:46

(((((((Amani))))))

Moan some more honey

Naetha · 14/11/2007 10:59

Morning all - to all of you, but especially Angechica, this time of year is when Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) kicks in - my DH gets it quite badly, and almost as soon as the clocks change, becomes really lethargic, grumpy, doesn't like any social interaction, and craves sweet and starchy food. One of the easiest ways to get around it, is to go out for a walk/sit in daylight every day, and make sure that the light gets to your eyes (i.e. don't wear sunglasses or a hat).

You'd be surprised how much of a difference it makes

Got another MW appointment today as my BP was too high last week. Fingers crossed it will have come down, otherwise I'll start to worry about pre-eclampsia . Bump was doing some weird things last night - started off with backache, then I felt this overwhelming pressure for most of the night - felt like bub had grown in about half an hour! Tummy didn't go hard, so I guess it was just the way he was lying, but felt very odd!

I'm very much counting down - I have 2 weeks, 2 days and 4 hours until I finish work - yay!!

Bettymamma · 14/11/2007 11:03

Amani - go up to that senior member of staff on their own now and ask exactly what there problem is- and if they have a problem couldn't they have said directly to you rather than in front of other people. Too many power hungry IDIOTS at work who love belittling people especially when they are in an obviously vulnerable situation.

Gingeme - free Oyster card!! am very jealous.

Awen - what happened on Eastenders - tell meeee! You are a lovely mum for missing ds when he goes to mates after school. Is dp in Japan this week?

MrsBiscuit - Arnica - didn't have it last time but am going to give it a try!

Bettymamma · 14/11/2007 11:04

Mixedmama - did i miss you posting your name up for facebook again? I meant to do it last time but I forgot.

mixedmama · 14/11/2007 11:07

Bettymama - it is still there.

gingeme · 14/11/2007 11:21

Thankyou mixedmamma. Not sure how to get to Islington but Im sure Ill work it out.
Neatha I reckon thats what my dh has got then. Hes been sooo moany the past month or so. Moans about everything it drives me mad.He is worse than an old woman.
Awen lo asleep now. I just think he has the cold that ds3 had last week. Its inevitable when youve got one at school though isnt it?
ds3 is making up for it though. Hes eating loads and hes gone up a shoe size. Think its a growth spurt.
Just watching the Cadbury advert when the gorilla plays the drms to the Phil Collins song. Briliant

Naetha · 14/11/2007 11:53

Gingeme - are you sure he's not a bit grumpy because he's had bits of his pride and joy chopped off and then go a bit gooey?

I know how I'd feel in his situation!! The very thought makes me cross my legs, and even the thought of childbirth doesn't make me do that! (Ignorance is bliss!)

Going shopping this afternoon to finish getting my hospital bag ready - think I've got a long enough list!

mummyto2littleprincess · 14/11/2007 12:26

Arggh I missed it mixedmamma

LilyLoo · 14/11/2007 12:37

morning everyone hope you all feeling ok today it's a beautiful sunny day here.
What happened in Eastenders ?

MrsMcJnr · 14/11/2007 12:46

Hey ladies

Starting where I left off?

Mixedmama ? hope you are feeling better today

Katyt1 ? sorry to hear that about your friend one of mine was told that the baby?s head was engaged when it was actually it?s bum so that ended in an emergency section so I guess it?s always better to know in advance!!

Naetha ? my pg buddy in the office is taking spatone and she feels so much better as a result

Hello Amani ? on Bountys, I am with you? on humous sounds like pressure on your pelvic floor that ache?

Beller uggh the thought of cleaning sick off a keyboard!

AngelKG77 glad the scan went well, hope they carry on that way. I know a little about lupus as I was suspected of having it a few years ago, turns out I don?t though. Poor you! I spent so much time at the Glasgow Royal back then!! Are you keeping ok? I have 4 weekly scans for growth too as I have a blood clotting disorder that can lead to stunted growth too ? like yours, my Beanie is a chubby one so far so I am delighted!! We don?t know what we are having but we worry at every scan that we?ll see something! Sounds like you are well travelled the bars, restaurants and shops in Glasgow are all great, there is always something exciting happening but none of those things will really appeal to a pg lady right now! how about a night at Devonshire Gardens for your birthday? It?s a lovely hotel in Glasgow or a weekend at Stobo Castle for some relaxing treatments and some pampering? I?m in Glasgow city centre on Tues 27/11 if you fancy a quick decaf 3pm looks good if that suits? (I?ll have to sandwich it in between meetings and my trip to Bravissimo for nursing bras!)

Ayreshirelolo 27/11 any good for you? Ahh so sweet your DH buying the nappies!

Angechica ? sorry you are feeling down hon, so sorry you are being affected in this way, cuddle your DH and try to get him to understand that we are on an emotional rollercoaster and not responsible for our words or actions if it?s an conciliation, I don?t think any expectant father really wants the baby until it arrives, they can?t bond the way we do, it?s just a bump to them and my DH has no interest in me physically either, I know he loves me and he cuddles and kisses me but that?s where it ends, I think he feels it is all a bit too freaky with a bump. Sending hugs x

Lilyloo ? poor you hon get yourself some good home cooking x

Madmouse you are the font of much knowledge that?s worrying what you say about growth scans ? why have them if they are so inaccurate? I was hoping that they were a good way of measuring that my baby is indeed getting what it needs from the placenta and that there isn?t a bog clot there

Barristermum hiya! Nothing dramatic has happened. There is a London meet up being planned but I?ve no idea when or where. We?re trying to get a Glasgow one together too ? Fluffy is here a lot and Angel and Ayrshirelolo are up here too ? I?m very excited!! sorry you are missing DH can totally understand your worries about Colombia. As you know, I love SCD sounds like we are rooting for the same people!! LOL about the police officer ? bless! So your baby is a biggie hoping all the appointments go well and it? just a big placenta! Fruitful is out of hospital Gingeme?s DH has had the snip but is having to sort out an infection everyone?s Los are fine nope, not sold the bloody house but that?s it, I refuse to move now until Beanie?s here. LOL love being the ?Scot?!

Lulubump ? yum! Those mince pies with custard sound lovely, DH had a ?bake off? at work today so he made chocolate crispy cakes last night for it? we had a few during Spooks ideal combination ? yummy Rupert and yummy cakes!

Toomanyshoes I can?t wait to stop putting on my glad wraps and make up for work ? that said, it was fun to dress up at the weekend I?ve packed some apricots! That insulin path sounds like a slippery slope I really hope you can continue to manage your sugars and avoid it, good for you for standing your ground. What a horrible woman the diabetic nurse was that makes me so angry that med profs use emotional blackmail when they cannot justify their medical suggestions with enough gravity to convince you ? she was clearly inadequate I?d complain if I were you, silly bitch! That is one of my biggest fears about med profs, they can?t stand people who do their research and question them and sometimes I worry that I won?t be able to stand my ground if I was in labour and got into that position. Hope all goes well at the growth scan today and I?m sorry about the car

Luckysalem ? that baby knowledge is soon to change! well done on the nappies and the wipes, I?m waiting until my 36 week scan to buy nappies but maybe that is daft ? I am going to need at least a few packs of size 1 especially if they get through 12 a day like I?ve read!

Susiemj ? enjoy your food hon, you have catching up to do! As of today I have put on 20 pounds so far this pregnancy, so hope I can keep the gain under 2 stone, not that I am trying very hard!!

Fluffy enjoy meeting Angel today hoping for a meet up on 27th.

Gingeme ? hope DS4 is feeling better today

Hey tripletsandtwins good to hear from you. Sorry to hear your dts have been ill. Poor you, that sounds sore, no advice I?m afraid.

Neuro ? sounds like you are having fun getting ready

Bettymamma ? my MIL is bi-polar; do you ever worry about your DC inheriting it? Roz was hysterical in Spooks wasn?t she, bet she enjoyed shooting Anna!

Phew! Coming up for air?.! Off to meet my Aunt for lunch now

mixedmama · 14/11/2007 13:07

Awen it is still there.
