Beller - if you have to talk to that client again, tell him that someone you 'know' is in hospital for 12 weeks because they were daft enuf to try for a 3rd baby after 2 csections!

Hmm, 6 cups of tea or 600g of milk chocolate, now which shall I have today . Actually I've had 2 cups of tea so, couple of huge bars of choccie and another cuppa ...

Wots a Nourishment? You have to have a lot of vit A to overdose in pg. We're talking kilos and kilos of pate.

Nice consultant is off on hols this week. I'm trying not to begrudge her the time with her children! Mine are off at the seaside with thei godparents so I know they are ok.

beller · 25/10/2007 11:32

HI fruitful - actually that was one of my arguments last night...he was about 3 vodkas, 2 beers and half a bottle of wine down though, so wasnt much point arguing with him! hahaha
Really feel for you in there...are you going stir crazy yet? anything we can send you? xx

beller · 25/10/2007 11:35

babybel is going for it today! had hiccups earlier..now has a foot stuck under my ribs on the right and must be punching my bladder! what have i dont to deserve this? maybe s/hes a bit bored today!

Naetha · 25/10/2007 12:08

My beanie just had hiccups as well

I had a pathetic night's sleep with my hips aching so much I couldn't sleep after about 3am, and then I was worrying like mad because beanie wasn't moving at all (he doesn't usually move much at night anyway) and for some reason this was really worrying! I even got up at 5 to specifically drink a cup of ice cold water to wake him up and check he was OK!

Fool I know

mixedmama · 25/10/2007 12:12

amani - come and have a look at this thread...

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/1372/411254?stamp=071025121148 and I am not even really practicing.

Angechica · 25/10/2007 12:51

Call me paranoid but have been avoiding caffeine all the way through this pregnancy! except in chocolate of course.

Some one asked about names earlier. DH found a website with names from around the world e.g. Japan, native American, etc. I want to give him some leeway on names as I think it will help him engage with the parenting thing as he has been struggling with this for a while. Some are nice, look like traditional names but with different spellings. However I don?t want to offend or sound like a snob but am worried that without knowing the source of the name people will just think we have done that ?chav? thing of corrupting the spelling of normal names. And also that having an exotic name if you?re just plain old joe bloggs with no interesting heritage seems a bit daft too. what do people think?

mixedmama · 25/10/2007 13:04

I think it is up to you guys.... I think it is quite nice to have different names, but I have grown up with a different name. I think you should go with what you like and what you feel comfy with. It is good he is engaging, chances of him choosing one arent necessarily high anyway are they.

MrsMcSpooky · 25/10/2007 13:07

Hey ladies just a really quick post as I am hectic to tell you that all was fine at my scan this morning, the baby is measuring about a week ahead and weighs about 3 pounds Sadly, that is all I know as the sonographer was a tone faced cow she ignored DH and my questions, was running 45 mins late but didn?t apologise, refused to show me any of my baby, wouldn?t even show me it?s face, I was nearly in tears, she refused to give me any of the measurements or a report of any sort saying that the consultant can get it all off the system if she wants to at my appointment tomorrow. We were both really upset and angry with her manner but didn?t kick up because at the end of the day, our baby is fine and we are seeing the consultant tomorrow anyway but I was a little tearful earlier, I was so looking forward to seeing my baby?s little face again I know that is not the point of a growth scan but I was so ken to see how it had grown back later for a catch up and a proper chat hope everyone is well

mixedmama · 25/10/2007 13:11

MrsMcSpooky that is awful, you should have kicked up a stink.

beller · 25/10/2007 13:14

Angechica..i think people will always comment on names you choose...either they know someone they dont like with that name..or have never heard of it..bla bla..I think you just have to go for what you want. My top girls name at the moment is Amelie...and when talking to a guy last night..he said thats crap....everyone will go..dont you mean Emily.....So I dont think you can win...go for what you love xx

beller · 25/10/2007 13:16

Mrsmcspooky - thats not good at all....Blimey, nothing like being happy in your job eh! Hope the consultant tells you all you want to know tomorrow, i know thats dosnt bring back not seeing beanies face
xxxxx

mixedmama · 25/10/2007 13:24

People are such idiots about names arent they... I wouldnt mistake it for Emily. Some people are just so ignorant, drives me mad.

I told a friend in Turkey my fave girls names and he said thats horrible, so I just said dont call your daughter that then.

I have never ever commented on a name even in passing.

A friend recently called her son Zinadine, and whilst it isnt a name I would chose I didnt say anything, still got into trouble though as she said "oh dont you like it"... put me in a right position.

Amani · 25/10/2007 13:55

Hey fruitful - you still in hospital?

MM - just skimmed read the thread and article heard of her - she's caused a lot of controversy in Holland. at some of her statements

Mrs Mc- Horrible sonographer!! You should have refused to move until she answered your queries.

OP posts:
mixedmama · 25/10/2007 14:03

The funny thing is that I am not even really remotely religious and it even riled me.

Amani · 25/10/2007 14:12

MM - ditto, however I saw her on CNN a while back and I pity her because it's her family who started this chain reaction off.

Catching up

Lulubump ? fab list isn?t it a shame we can?t all be in the same place then we could each bring something and overall we?d have everything on the list

Mixedmama ? sounds like a good idea about having a thread buddy with live details Fluffymummy and I are hoping to meet in a few weeks time so maybe we could buddy each other as we?ll no doubt swoop details to arrange a meet up anyway thanks for your words about this morning.

Amani ? LOL on the houmous again! Sounds like you had an awful night thanks I know she wouldn?t have mellowed though.

Battymamma ? one of my friend?s husband?s insisted she have straighter in her bag ? for him! I don?t know much about toddlers but I guess you?ll need her favourite things so she feels at home

Beller emergency bag sounds fine all sounding good at the MW appointment my baby?s head has always been down and I?ve been taking it with a pinch of salt as thought it could move round any time, do you know when they are unlikely to move round from? thanks for your post for me.

Hope you all have a lovely time ay the meet up

Cazzy I?ll post my list

Toomanyshoes that?s great about your BP. It sounds like a nightmare with all the blood testing I really hope you can get it under control and don?t need insulin. I do empathise about the unhelpful med profs so unnecessary!

Fluffymummy LOL do they have a concierge at hospitals to help you with your bags?

Lilyloo ? all that pampering sounds lovely another ebay pro hey; I wonder why I am getting it wrong! LOL

Barristermum ? thanks hon

Hey Fruitful ? how are you hon? good point about stowage and removal of bags and the plastic bags are a great call too (always do that on hols) thanks for the pads info and yes I?d forgotten that there will be a shop! fingers crossed that the other consultant gives you better news ? why?s 28 magic?

Cryptletsandtwins ? LOL about posting at night. I wonder if the medical system is very different with you then. I watch Special Delivery sometimes and used to go on ovusoft.com quite a lot when we were TTC and I found it all so full on. On ovusoft, all the girls knew exactly what their HCG levels were at any given time and on Special Delivery they seemed obsessed with giving women amnios at 38 weeks to see if the baby?s lungs were viable and seem to argue with anyone who wants to go without pain relief. I know that?s only a small sample of hospitals but it does seem really medicalised! One of my friends had triplets in London last year, 2 boys and a girl (boys are identical) she was in hospital from 34 weeks I think but she said that most of the Drs were really excited about her having triplets.

Naetha ? sorry you had a bad night too

Angechica ? I?m like you I gave up caffeine 3 years ago as I was ill and now I only let myself have decaf coffee and one cup of tea a day, I do have milk chocolate though ? couple of pieces a night. I think as long as you know the meaning and origin on the name and you like it, that?s all that matters

Goodafternoon Ladies!

Beller and and Naetha ? My beany has also had the hiccups today! It did take me a while to work out what on earth was going on in their really strange feeling!

Beller ? Amelie is a great name one of my fav at the moment. I keep changing my favourite name every week, this weeks top contender is Esme Lila, I think its really unusual! Although when I mentioned it to my granddad he asked if it would be short for Esmerelda!

MrsSpooky ? sorry to hear about the nasty witch that scanned you today, what a miserable cow, you did well to keep your cool, hope that the consultant can go through it all properly with you tomorrow. Thanks for posting that list, I am going to print it off! I just don?t know where to start!

Waves at fruitful, hope you are keeping sane!

Hi to everyone else hope you have all had a good day. I am starting another temping job on Monday that is going to last for 5 weeks, think I might call it a day once this one has finished and start maternity leave, will see how I feel!

gingeme · 25/10/2007 17:22

Good evening ladies. Was wondering where Thursday had got to then I realised you had started a new thread
Lo had a great birthday thanks. My parents came up on Tuesday for his official birthday yesterday. Had a realy nice day.
Wish I was coming to the meet up tommorrow. Still Im sure there will be another one before January.
Not alot to report here realy. Just feel real tired and heart burny realy.
Hope everyone else is well. xx

fruitful · 25/10/2007 17:36

Those of you having disagreements with your dh over names - remember that you can ask for anything you like in the 10 minutes after the birth and he'll agree!

MrsMc - what a rotten sonographer!

On the position thing, first babies are quite likely to settle in position around now, especially if they've been in the same position for a week or two. Dd settled at 28 weeks and didn't move (unfortunately she chose to be feet-first). I'm wondering if my womb is a funny shape or something cos this baby is in the exact same position - breech and all on my right side.

28 wks is magic cos the survival rate for 28-weekers at this hospital is 90% and they are much less likely to have a disability.

nicky6 · 25/10/2007 17:37

sorry not able to post much as the murder i start in a couple of weeks is the case from hell so much work to do and whats worse the whole feeling sick thing is back boo hoo.

So I have to eat really regularly to stop it from happening. I think maybe i am not drinking enough and maybe dehydration can make you feel sick - what do you think???

Must go meant to be working

MrsMcSpooky · 25/10/2007 17:38

Those are fabulous stats Fruitful I like hearing things like that. I guess the fact that your baby is breech adds to the liklihood of a section? what are you thinking of getting from that catalouge then?

barristermum · 25/10/2007 18:22

Oooh spooky - what an awful sonographer - I hope she sued the charm school! May tomorrow's appt be better and may you never see her again.
Fruitful - I am so impressed at how upbeat you always are - I wd be going demented in there and you remain so sunny - v v impressed.
Beller - top knowledge on the caffeine front. Like Angechica for some reason I have been trying to steer clear, but every so often I really NEED a cuppa and now I will know not to beat self up about it too much.
Last night with Mum and Dad's setter staying - am really going to miss his full body wag when I come in from work. So gratifying!
