Hi everyone

Can't believe it's a new thread already!

I've been away for a few days so will need to read and catchup with your posts.

Hope everyone is doing well, I've come down with a rotten cold so feeling a bit sorry for myself.

Loucee · 18/10/2007 00:43

Yay MM is back - hope everything is Ok

Bouncingturtleskulls · 18/10/2007 07:02

Welcome back Loucee - sorry about the cold, seems like everyone around me has one!

Amani · 18/10/2007 08:11

Morning all!!

Hope your cold gets better Loucee.

Insywincy - My cousin works for insurance selling life covers and critical illness covers and she was explaining her job to my DH a while ago. Must admit I did switch off, but from I gathered they have a scoring for certain illness and some illness score lower (i.e minor surgery - so your premium is slightly higher but not massively) and some you score higher for (i.e angina - where the premium is bumped up or can be refused). It defo has to be the PND, as they don't classify pregnancy as an 'illness', so it is likely to do with what you mentioned to them and if they got the impression you still had it/likely to have it again after this baby.

Hi everyone...
Im on the jan thread, but technically due in dec! Have popped over from time to time. Just wanted to pop over and see how you all are and have a glimpse of whats to come? Im due dec28th....so whats the major niggles? Hope everyone is well xxxxxxx

mixedmama · 18/10/2007 09:18

Mornign everyone

That is awful insy.... hope it doesnt actully mean you cant get the cover.

Talking of insurance my mum tried to put my hubby on her insurance for her old car and it got refused because he is a courier altho he has a van for work and the car would be weekend runaround, plus he would be additional as it is her car.

Just had MW appointment. Left standing outside the building and then they had double appointed! Grr. MW very sweet, but by then I was narked off. Will be ok when on mat leave, though- will be sure to take lots of mags!
LO head down still (yay) and the right size.

DH getting very stressed and grumpy about house move next week- also he is working 13 hours a day at the mo.

Advert for new physio did not go in yesterday's journal- despite me organising and paying for it. Next journal first week of november which means i will be interviewing around 2nd/ 3rd week of November- if i get it in that one!! Am interviewing someone through contacts next week- hope that she's the go.

suey2 · 18/10/2007 09:45

oo have just had email from advertising people and have just realised that my journal that arrived yesterday was the october 3rd issue! not 17th. Blardy posties. Not only will i not be able to pay myslef on time this month (cheques in post), but their strike will have caused me to delay my mat leave by a further 2 weeks.

mixedmama · 18/10/2007 09:58

suey- are you still sure that you cant make next fridays curry night.... that will cheer you up, albeit not for a week....

buzzybee · 18/10/2007 10:07

Mumsnet meetup here in Wellington, New Zealand on Saturday yay! Just 3 Mums but that's not bad I reckon. Actually one of the other Mums is also due in Dec so pretty cool. We are meeting at Zoo avec enfants - bit different from a Friday night curry but hopefully just as much fun

Was supposed to see MW today but postponed to tomorrow as had to fly up to Auckland for the day. Am hoping she comes well prepped with info on this amniotic fluid thing. But am not holding my breath as things medical are not her forte and think I will have to wait for her to refer me to a consultant whenever that might happen.

Lizzer - sorry to hear you are still facing kidney problems with LO. Did the latest scan give you any more info? I was very relieved when they told me renal dilation at 30 weeks was normal after being enlarged at 20 weeks.

Amani · 18/10/2007 10:24

Suey2 - how rubbish it that. Just make sure you don't stress yourself out over the whole thing - not good for you or baby.

Housemum · 18/10/2007 10:30

Amani - glad you brought up the Group B strep petition - shocked they won't test you. It may be worth asking if they test if your wters break prior to labour starting - our 2 local hospitals have changed their policy after what happened to a friend of mine - they now ask you to come in if your waters break and test you. The results are back in a few hours and they call you back in for antibiotics if you are positive and have not started labour.

Love the lists - even bigger than mine!!

With the organised mum stuff, my favourite is the week-to-view calendar - it has a plastic overlay that you move to each week so you can write things that happen weekly on there rather than having to have a separate list or copy them to each week - it's great, particularly as my 2 girls have various dance lessons and after-school activities to remember!

organised mum

I have a long-standing list of unfinished craft projects (if I spent as much time on them as on MN they'd be done by now!0

My long-term goal re house is to clear as much clutter as poss so can do a daily whip-round with v little effort. Started by thinning out DD2's wardrobe and deciding what to keep-in-case-of-girl and what to eBay/NCT sale/charity/chuck. Toys is the next task - too huge an amount to contemplate so will enlist DH's help at weekend (between him playing golf & watching rugby!)

Amberooni · 18/10/2007 10:30

aww suey that is pants, was thinking of you finishing in the next week or so cos I remembered you were finishing a week ahead of me, I keep counting down the days (12 days left), although sure that DH is starting to get about it, though think he'll be glad to get back to work.

Wizzska · 18/10/2007 10:32

Morning all.

I've just realised this is my last day doing my job on my own. Have taken tomorrow off and on Monday my temp starts. ML start on 16th Nov! Yay!

I expect this will mean I'll not be able to chat as much . I'll be so bored here when she starts, there'll be so little for me to do. The gallery is sooo quiet at the moment.

Suey, poor you, you must be raging and v. stressed. A snickers is very much in order.

Amberooni · 18/10/2007 10:34

housemum, that's a good website, but I'm trying to follow Flylady.net, works for my lazyass anywhos.

Housemum · 18/10/2007 10:56

I did try Flylady but got overwhelmed by the number of e-mails! (I do feel guilty if I haven't "shined my sink" though!!)

Wizzska · 18/10/2007 11:00

Insy - are you still planning a home birth? Anyone else? I still want to but am beginning to get a bit scared, especially as its my first. Need to speak to Midwife tomorrow about it.

mixedmama · 18/10/2007 11:17

Wizzka.. the good thing about selecting home birth is you can change your mind even on the day whereas you cant vice versa.

insywinsyspider · 18/10/2007 12:33

wizzka - def agree with MM there is no harm in requesting a home birth because you can always just turn up to hospital if it doesn't feel right - thats my plan. I'm still hoping to have lo at home tho - obviously too scared to think about the reality of brith at mo so imagining having baby at night, ds asleep and xmas lights on! I have a mw app on monday to discuss it all - we should compare lists of what we need/info, I got a few things together such as old towels from relatives but nothing else so far....

housemum - I'm the same with craft projects! I've written a list in my new organised mum life book but I doubt I'll finish them all plus a lady who lives in village who loves knitting gave be a huge baby blanket in 'kit' form the other day - she said she's not well enough to stitch it together but would love me to have it, I have no idea where to start with it but must get it done to show her!
about all your sorting - I'm desperate the get the spare room sorted but got friends visiting most weekends till end of Nov so will be a bit of a rush

Amani - I've had a rational think about life assurance and done a web search and I can get cover its just finding one that will do it with out a huge premium I also now need suicide cover so if I accidently get run over by a bus they can't say I threw myself under it

loucee - sympathies about cold, I had an awful one last week, only thing I could do was hot ribeena and very early nights, hope dd doesn't have it too, I found that the most difficult was getting up in the night loads for ds

mixedmama · 18/10/2007 12:40

ohhh insy that made me angry to read about the suicide cover.... I do see the logic in it, but still makes me

I know MM me too but at least it would be one less thing for dh to worry about if the number 78 got me on the way home from work... there is such a lack of understanding of depression - they lump it all together

mixedmama · 18/10/2007 12:59

completely understand insy...i had depression after DS (not sure if it was really PND) but it was so hard, and my brother has schizophrenia which brings on depression and people dont understand - somebody who knew me quite well actually once asked me "is your bro still mad".... people really dont understand... and equally with my PND lots of friends thought i was just being a drama queen and things couldnt be that bad... that is part of the reason for my crazy plan really as i really want to remain so much more in control this time round.
