Has anyone else had a section repaired with staples?

My wound is looking quite angry (mw says it's fine) and I'm really not looking forward to having them all removed 🤮

@LatteLover12 bless you that sounds horrid. Keep an eye on your incision. Mine started out a bit red and then I got poorly.

@OrDis @WillowT I had this with my first. Drove me round the bend! Like you say just reinforces baby isn't here. Just say of course I'll let you know when baby is here! Or you could take the 'shit, I'm so sorry I had the baby last week and forgot to tell everyone' approach 😆

My little one is so unsettled. He's got a cold but also the runs. I'm wondering if he has a milk allergy like my first did so I've cut out dairy but keep forgetting! Got some dairy free stuff coming tomorrow though

Hope everyone else is doing ok? X

Thanks for the thread @LatteLover12. My scar wasn’t done with staples but I’m sure it shouldn’t look angry. Definitely keep an eye.
Mine was a bit weepy but midwife said in that case as long as it’s clear liquid then it’s fine (in case anyone has that issue).

Report

LatteLover12 · 22/09/2020 14:32

Yes @Sara7455 mine is weepy too. Midwife literally said 'better out than in!' 🤮

@LatteLover12 - can’t believe she said that! So gross! Mine did heal with no drama so the clear weeping genuinely wasn’t an issue - except that it kept getting on my clothes (even if there were just leggings!) but still not nice at all

Hi ladies how is the bleeding going? Im 8 days post baby now and was getting down to light pink barely any. Went for first short walk today now darker and heavier and sore. 😭

Report

HugeAgeGap · 22/09/2020 16:14

No staples here, had dissolving ones but I really would want checking out for any oozing as mine hasn't done anything like that. I kept my dressing on for 5 days, it was a waterproof one.

I'm day 18 and now down to a light pad, I had a section so I'm not sure if this makes any difference. I wonder if it's just the upright moving around that gravity takes its effect hence more blood after a walk?

@LatteLover12 mine was weeping green and was sore!

@OrDis and @WillowT I'm with you on the constant requests for updates from friends and family, due Saturday! My latest reply was a picture of me from behind saying 'dunno what you're talking about I'm not preggers?!' because I actually don't look it at all from behind 🙈😂🤔 that shut them up for all of 12 hours!

Yay a new thread !! My bleeding still steady at 14 days post section and definitely heavier when I get up in the night or after anything strenuous like walking ... hoping to wait it out.
Anyone else had poss symptoms of a water infection? I’m not sure...

@Chanel05 my milk started to come in on Day 5!

@LatteLover12 I have dissolvable stitches. Silly I know but I still haven’t been able to take a proper look. I’m squeamish with these things. I’m just trying to avoid it and pull my massive knickers up as quick as I can Grin. The midwife checked them the other day and said it seems to be healing fine thankfully.

We’re on Day 7 now and my bleeding has been quite light. Last time I had a natural birth and bled a lot heavier. It’s starting to go dark now so I’m hoping that’s ok?!

Very tired today, DD woke up at 1am for a feed and then was wide awake and we couldn’t get her back off to sleep for another two hours. I’ve noticed if she falls asleep on the bottle it’s fine, we can put her straight back in the crib and she’ll stay sleeping but if she wakes herself up properly it’s so much harder..

Hey ladies! I’m not sure what thread to post on but it’s great to have this one too - thank you, @LatteLover12

I’m not sure if anyone remembers me mentioning my bleeding:
I lost 1.8/2 litres during the section and bleeding started to ramp up five days PP - it continued and I began to feel so weak. There was a slight smells and gushes of blood intermittently throughout the day but none of them soaking a pad, it just seemed like a lot and it didn’t feel right.
I was admitted to hospital Sunday and on Monday they decided it was an infection of the uterine lining and they could not rule out a small bit of retained placenta - I was on IV antibiotics but self discharged to go home to my little one who I was missing terribly and took oral antibiotics instead.

Anyway, yesterday I had a massive secondary PPH. There was such an overwhelming amount of blood and clots and I hadn’t a notion what was happening. I called an ambulance as I was alone with DD1 and DD2; still in hospital back on the IV antibiotics. Cerclage was finally removed which was probably causing the clots to build up 😷

DD2 is coming in to stay with me tonight as DP has to work in the morning and my parents would not be able to look after a newborn nor would I ask them to - they’re both in their seventies.
So dramatic and unfortunate but hopefully things will be okay now.

I was breastfeeding but I think my supply was a bit low as I was battling an infection and everything else and with all the blood loss it can’t have been conducive to successful production. I was so anxious and worried that she was hungry so topped up with the ready made Aptimal First Infant milk - thankfully - as DP had something to feed her with when I was rushed in to hospital.

I’m really clueless when it comes to formula feeding - what is enough? DP has been feeding her and she seems to take 55ml - 70 ml each feed and she’s feeding very regularly, keeping to her breastfeeding schedule.

I got the Medela pump to express having used it in hospital and feel much more comfortable with the decision to combo feed and express until I am well again and won’t be as anxious.

Any tips on combi feeding? @ShiningStarz, from one of your posts towards the end of the last thread it seems like you are combi feeding too? How are you finding it? Do you have any tips?
I EBF DD1 so can’t underscore enough how clueless I am 🙈

She’s 13 days old today 💕
