HQ- ahhh!!

Congrats on scans etc, hope everyone is going to have a relaxing weekend, nothing strenuous for me- eating chocolate and watching ghost!!!

The 'beans' had a bit of a moment last night. Dh and i were getting bit frisky and at the crucial moment i got a sharp boot in the belly total passion killer but then we both lay watching my belly go beserk- it was cute at least

Have a good weekend ladies.

merryberry · 09/11/2007 14:59

have to say am really going off of frisking fast: the hardness of braxton hickswhile in the throes of passion feel weirder this time round!

derah · 09/11/2007 15:25

Hello ladies!

Baby seems to have moved today. She must have got bored of tap-dancing on my bladder (thank goodness!) and is now booting me in the right side. Feeling movements down low was nice but feeling them so high up is a bit weird - can't believe how big she is already!! I'm 22 weeks, only a couple of weeks until it wouldn't be the end of the world for baby to be born! I know we're only just over halfway but this pregnancy seems to be flying by. And with Christmas just around the corner to keep us distracted for a while, we'll be there before we know it!

Only 8 weeks of work left too, har har!! 4 weeks until we go away for Christmas, then back for January and I plan to stop at the start of Feb. Lovely stuff!

We've got a mad weekend planned - off to visit friends in Cambridge (and to pick up my birth pool!) and in Milton Keynes. Plus dropping the dogs off in Reading on the way! Hopefully I'll just get lots of napping done in the car. I didn't get much sleep this week with DD being sick and waking us up at all hours. Last night I went to bed at 8pm, read my book for an hour, and lights out at 9pm. I feel soooo much better for it today.

Right, time to stop slacking and get some work done. I had a dream the other night that one of my co-workers reported me for spending too much time on the internet! Subliminal guilt, methinks!!!!

derah · 09/11/2007 16:14

BTW, is anyone else absolutely haunted by the Fran Lyon case? It's always at the back of my mind at the moment. There's a good post on the thread about it on the Chat board, with lots of addresses to e-mail. I think I'll have to spend some time this weekend sending off lots of e-mails to anyone vaguely helpful.

PurlyQueen · 09/11/2007 16:15

I can't stop staring at my ultrasound photo. The baby has developed so much since the 12-week scan - I could see a spine, hands, feet and all sorts on the screen.
It is lying in a strange position: on its tummy with legs crossed. The feet are on my left and its head is on my right and facing my feet!

piggyp · 09/11/2007 18:21

HQ - thanks for recomendation. I've just got back from the shops and have been looking at Debbie Bliss's books, I wasn't sure if I'd be able to understand the diagrams but you have given me encouragement! I was tempted by her other book, which had cuter clothes but might be a bit ambitious! Not sure that babies need scarves though!

piggyp · 09/11/2007 18:22

Oh, and I'm not sure that Debbie Bliss does sound like a knitter, maybe something else!!

PurlyQueen · 09/11/2007 19:26

Some of those knitting patterns are ridiculous! No baby needs a scarf and while cashmere baby clothes are lovely, they need to be lovingly hand-washed and which new mum has the time to do that?
Piggyp - go for something simple, such as a blanket or even a jumper knitted in one piece, with minimal shaping for your first projects.
I've made loads of little jumpers and cardigans - it stops me reaching for the biscuit tin quite so much smile

modsaluk · 09/11/2007 20:26

Good evening all, had my scan on Thursday afternoon. All went well and i am expecting a boy and a girl. The house we have bidded for has had the survey and it needs three more reports structual, electrial and damp reports, really upset about it just when we thought it was all going well.

Indegestion started getting it bad now, also restless legs on a night time. But apart from that and the tiredness feeling quite well.

Hope you are all feeling good.

HolidaysQueen · 10/11/2007 09:15

Modsaluk - boy and girl! How lovely! I am now very jealous and wanting twins

Piggy - there were some lovely things in other books but I picked that one because the good thing about it is that the patterns start off easily and build up to more difficult things so add different skills in each time. I agree that a scarf is utterly pointless (it would probably strangle the poor child, if he/she kept it on long enough!), but the blanket is actually dead easy too and that's what I'm making. If you want I'm happy to photocopy/email the pattern for the blanket and the basic instructions and send it to you so you can see if you like it before committing to another book. Not sure how to exchange details on here though - anyone got any ideas?

Purly - absolutely agree with you on cashmere!!! I wrecked a cashmere jumper for myself so doubt I would ever have the nerve to own it again and certainly not for my baby. I'll just get my mum's advice on what other wool to use instead (mums are fab!). Having siad that I'll probably be all knitted out by the time this blanket is finished and just go back to my original plan of buying everything cheaply in Tesco

gingercat12 · 10/11/2007 10:24

glammama Sorry, the RVI stands for Royal Victoria Infirmary which is involved in the Fran Lyon case.

turtle23 · 10/11/2007 11:26

anyone up for an alternative meet day in december? i can only really do weekends.

monthlymayhem · 10/11/2007 12:35

Hi All

Lovely to hear about all of the good scans

We've been busy getting our nursery organised - now all painted, curtains are up and we're getting new wardrobe doors and carpet delivered in the next couple of weeks, so it's starting to take shape. We need to rip out our bathroom completely so thought we would get the easy job done first and it means I can just put things in the nursery as I buy them.

I've got my 22week midwife appt on Tuesday and have a list of things to ask about, just hoping it's not the scary one I saw last time..

LO has been very quiet recently, so having the doppler has been very reassuring. DH has still only felt one kick and is getting a bit paranoid that baby is playing a game with him, and stays still every time he comes near my tummy!

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. After completely overdosing on a white chocolate magnum and bag of maltesers last night I'm going to try and be healthier next week (at least after we've gone for a curry tonight )

monthlymayhem · 10/11/2007 12:53

Oh and meant to say, I got the promoted position I was interviewed for this week so v v v pleased

merryberry · 10/11/2007 15:14

congratulations to all on this good news!

my news? am newly addicted to scrabulous. ho-hum.

preggersagain · 10/11/2007 15:16

hope everyone is having a good weekend- i'm having a great day today- i've just had two wicker cribs delivered so am going to be busy this evening arranging the nursery (again!!!!)

Take care all and don't get up to anything too strenuous

merryberry · 10/11/2007 17:35

I GIVE UP

If anybody find a maternity size 20 sweater in a decent wool (no viscose) in their travels, please let me know.

Nice plain sweater. Not a cardi. Think I'll be hitting M&S men's dept maybe

fitnforty · 10/11/2007 17:52

congrats on the promotion MM, and to those with the recent scans!

Derah - have only just read your link, how disgusting!

HAve had a very enjoyable day of retail therapy - first up was the JoJoMamanBebe warehouse sale which is only 10 mins drive from me. Had to queue for about 20 mins to get through the door, picked up loads of baby clothes after fighting through the hoardes, also one of those slumber bear things and a "my first 12 months" type photo frame...got to the checkout and found they had another 50% off! Bargain price of about £30. Mind you, our boy will have to be in touch with his feminine side, one of the outfits i got in both 0-3 and 3-6 months is a grey/pink strip bodysuit

Joined up at Makro after that, spent a fortune to compensate but now have most of my xmas pressies bought. Tried to get some buggy/stroller/travel system help in Mothercare but as usual they were all too busy. Maybe they don't think you're a serious shopper if you don't have OH with you? Have now seen a few that look decent and easy to manoevre, famous last words My DH is off to Liverpool to watch the footie this weekend so I'm abandoned again. Ah well. Must be some ice cream with my name on it

Oh, and btw, my friend's funeral on Thurs was emotional but I'm glad I went. Never been to a Pagan Jewish cremation before!

doup76 · 10/11/2007 18:35

'Evening all!

It's my first time on here....such a nice feeling to be (virtually) surounded by people due at the same time as me.

Didn't realise how relieved I would feel after everything was fine on the "anomaly" scan..... apart from finding out I am having a giant baby! Should I start limbering up?
Good luck to all those who are having there scans next week!

This will be my first sober Christmas and New Year for many years..... what do pregnant ladies do on New Year's Eve? Any more exciting ideas than just staying in and putting my feet up?

doup76 · 10/11/2007 18:49

hey merryberry, have you checked out the maternity pages on next online? I know it's not that glamourous but there are a few decent bits and pieces on there.......

littleducks · 10/11/2007 19:35

size 20 maternity clothes seem to be all i can find and i'm a 10/12 so i expect it is just a case of wrong place wrong time.

have you tried h and m? everything i want in there is only in the larger sizes.

fitnforty · 10/11/2007 21:14

wow littleducks, where do you shop? I'm a 20 but can only find a couple of places to do that size!

Desperately want to buy one of those support belts but have no idea if they'll fit, since they only seem to be advertised in catalogues at S, M, L sizes, where L is most def. not going to fit a 20

turtle23 · 11/11/2007 08:45

Have to say I have also been in Hennes recently and seen many size 20s.

OP posts:
doup76 · 11/11/2007 10:34

merryberry · 11/11/2007 13:45
