Preggers - thanks for that advice. I have bad circulation and hence cold hands at the best of times, so will def mention to the midwife when I next see her (still 17 days to my appt and scan!!) in case it gets worse. It might be a nice excuse to scive off work as well - if I have carpal tunnel syndrome then I can't possibly use the computer so can't possibly do my job and will need to just sit at home with my feet up for the next 4 months

BTW, I finally hit 20 weeks today so I'm really pleased and happy to have reached halfway without getting too fat/hormonal/insane...

e14mum · 05/11/2007 14:14

Hey Brazillianmum, I told the midwife I needed the MatB1 for work- so she gave it to me at the last visit, but said they don't normally give it until the 26ish week checkup.
Cool bed!

imjin100 · 05/11/2007 14:24

hello all
on the matb1, I was told I could get it at 24 weeks - I think everywhere is different.
I've also had pins and needles in my hands alot and assumed like HQ it was something baby related. I'm now 23 weeks and it's eased off so perhaps it comes and goes.
I've been having stabbing pains very sharply down one side, again I assume this is all normal!
I just went out for a walk at lunch time to get some things I needed, I was rushing about and realised that this baby isn't that keen on the power walking!
so much to read and catch up on but hope all scans going well today and the rest of the week.
We're off on holiday on thursday - I can't wait as yet again i've been clobbered by a massive cold - I never got them before being pregnant and it's a rather unexpected side effect. I feel rotten but nevermind. Only three days at work this week. Thank goodness
Happy days to all.

imjin100 · 05/11/2007 14:26

derah and turtle I've just seen the horrors of your weekend, puts my grotty cold into perspective. Hope you're feeling better.

derah · 05/11/2007 14:27

Hello ladies

Sounds like you've all been busy shopping this weekend!

Sorry some of you are having such trouble with aches, pains and heartburn. Guess I'm lucky that the only problem I'm having is baby bouncing on my bladder! Oh, and REALLY itchy bits (TMI?) - it's driving me nuts!

Well, had my scan this morning, all seems well and baby is a GIRL! Finally another one on the board. I was sure it was a boy, DH was sure it was a girl. With DD he thought it was a boy I thought she was a girl, so the score is 1:1 now. So, I've neatly sidestepped the circumcision issue, phew! I thought I really wanted a boy though and would be disappointed with a girl, but I'm really not. I'm quite looking forward to having two little girls, and we gals can gang up on poor DH! HAR HAR!!! Plus, I've already got all the clothes etc so no need to buy any more stuff. Only problem is coming up with a name. I had 2 boy's names in mind, but nothing for a girl.

e14mum · 05/11/2007 14:30

Great news derah!

imjin100 · 05/11/2007 14:31

fantastic news Derah, congratulations. So glad it's not all boys!

will eat my dark chocolate kit kat to celebrate for you.

preggersagain · 05/11/2007 14:44

congrats derah, glad to see someone else helping to even up the scores

glammama · 05/11/2007 14:50

Congratulations Derah, and good news that you won't have to face the circumcision issue this time!

ClaphamLauren · 05/11/2007 14:54

ARGHHHHHHHHH I just dropped a scalding hot chocolate over my bump and it's all red and scalded and hurts. Boo hoo!

I just needed a quick moan as trying not to cry at work.

Glad to hear all is well, Congrats on your girlie derah!

turtle23 · 05/11/2007 14:54

Congrats Derah!! Lucky thing!

CL-You poor thing!
maybe we should all stay home wrapped up in cotton wool? With chocolate?

OP posts:
ClaphamLauren · 05/11/2007 14:58

That sounds an excellent idea turtle - count me in!

imjin100 · 05/11/2007 15:09

CL, poor you - I hope there was some hot chocolate left to drink....otherwise really bad news.
I'm guessing as time goes on we will all become more clumsy, or is it just me. Unloading the washing before work this morning, I managed to drop every single sock whilst trying to hang them out, literally everyone. Found myself talking to the socks, as though it was there fault. I blame being pregnant, DH is slightly concerned I'm actually just going potty and it has nothing to do with an expanding bump. I best hope I return to normal when it's born or there will be trouble afoot!

turtle23 · 05/11/2007 15:15

s**t. Been trying to be good but have just scoffed a whole thing of ben and jerry's chocolate brownie ice cream. Apparently they seem to think that there are 1040 calories in that tiny pot. I know there are some scientists among us...please can someone disprove this? Oops.

OP posts:
derah · 05/11/2007 15:20

Turtle - I have a theory that your body can only absorb a certain amount of calories in one go anyway. It doesn't seem to make any difference if I eat 200 or 200 000 000 too many in one day, the same amount of weight goes on. So, even if there are 1040 calories (which, sadly, there probably are!), they won't all go to your hips!

I personally never leave any B&J in the tub! Yummy!!!

CL - ouch! Your poor red burned bump! It can match my poor red burned head! I've just had a cup of hot choccie too but luckily it stayed in the cup. Well, until it go to my tum anyway! Hope you still got to drink some.

glammama · 05/11/2007 15:23

Turtle, apparently if you eat with your eyes closed then the calorie intake is negligible. You'll know for next time
now.

glammama · 05/11/2007 15:25

And meant to say poor you CL. I hope you were/are able to put a LOT of cold water on it. I'm a qualified first aider you know and am horrified to discover you using your bump as a cofee table . Seriously, I could host a buffet for 10 on mine.

ClaphamLauren · 05/11/2007 15:26

No hot chocolate left, think I'm going to stick to B&J ice cream instead... No burning potential!

I am SO clumsy and forgetful, I lost my oyster card at the weekend. However, did pick up my new amby natures nest that I bought off of ebay and was an absolute bargain. Never used hammock, two matresses and four fitted sheets all new and for the awesome price of £84... Woo!

turtle23 · 05/11/2007 15:35

Through a highly complicated system I have just worked out that I have burned up EXACTLY 1037.5 calories (the actual number in the ice cream) by worrying about my scan. Hurrah! It's like I never ate it! Although, I now feel sorry for myself having had no ice cream...only one thing to do...
oh and glam, if I ate my ice cream with my eyes closed, DH might steal some so I just can't go for that theory!

OP posts:
HolidaysQueen · 05/11/2007 15:40

Did you know that if you eat a piece of fruit then the calories in that can be offset against the calories in any chocolate you eat at the same time? And if nobody sees you eating the food, then nobody can verify that the food ever existed and that it wasn't just a figment of your pregnancy imagination, so it is clearly zero calories.

So I'm now off to get a Mars bar and an apple and eat them inside a darkened cupboard

glammama · 05/11/2007 15:44

I'm loving our ostrich theories!! I've just had 2 egg mayo bagels but only one was for me. The other was for my son. Wow, first time I've written that!!!! Son, obviously.

e14mum · 05/11/2007 15:52

Now that we're heading into the Christmas season red and green foods don't have any calories in them either. And if it's something like a biscuit, then broken ones don't count.
Good to keep all this in mind.

turtle23 · 05/11/2007 15:53

mmmm bagels.... oh dear. Am I the only one who has neverending hunger? It's not just the ice cream, it's anything that's not nailed down, really.

OP posts:
e14mum · 05/11/2007 15:54

So, along with my very scientific theory, anything in a Starbucks red cup is ok. I can go for extra cream on my hot chocolate??
